Review of Comfort Inn West Valley - Salt Lake City South 2*

Overall we had a nice stay here with a few relatively minor glitches. The good — the hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and it's centrally located which made getting to the places we needed to go very easy. There is a nice selection of breakfast items and the ladies who work in the breakfast room do a wonderful job of keeping things stocked. I always check to see if there is a fitness center before I book a room, but can sometimes get an unpleasant surprise if the room is not welcoming or the equipment is not up to par. This hotel has both a nice, well-lit room where the temperature can be controlled by the person using it — I prefer a cooler room to work out in — and it has nice equipment. Well done! The not-so-good — when we arrived on Friday night, we discovered that the dead-bolt on our door would not lock. When I informed the front desk of this, the man working came to look at it. Although he had tools, he had no idea how to begin fixing it, and in truth, I wouldn't have wanted him to be taking the door apart when we were ready to be settling in. He stood there for a few moments with seemingly no suggestions. Finally I inquired as to whether or not there was another room we could be moved to. There was and so he moved us, including a 10% discount for both Friday and Saturday nights. I'm not sure that the deadbolt actually worked in the second room either because while we could turn the knob, we couldn't hear or feel the mechanism move, but we just used the bolt at the top rather than try again. The next day we had a long day. We weren't quite out of our room for the day when housekeeping stopped between 9:30 and 10:00 a. M. We assumed they would come back. When we arrived that night, after 9:00, our room had not been cleaned. That was a disappointment. My husband was able to get some new towels, and the manager gave us an additional 10% off, which was appreciated. I would suggest the addition of card entry to the fitness center as well. It's not a secure door. Even though there were some things I think could be improved upon, given the attitude of the staff and the treatment we received when these things were brought to their attention, I would probably stay here again.
