Very charming vintage eclectic motor inn. Impressed with the overall professionalism of the owners & the painstaking cleanliness of the rooms. Everything maintained with very comfy beds. If you are traveling through Raton NM please give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

Just spent a night there and couldnt be more pleased! The owners were very concerned about our drive in a blizzard and helpful in arranging an after hours arrival. Spotless and fun room, great lobby and breakfast offerings. 5 stars!

This was seriously one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed! We had two rooms and both nailed the “theme” of each room to a tee. Wish I could have seen some of the other rooms not to mention the owners were friendly and helpful. I was there on business but I’d go out of my way to stay there again. Thank you for having us.

CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! Bathrooms were impeccable. The breakfast was enjoyable as it was a B&B feel around the big table. The hosts were dedicated to the guest’s comfort and ease. Definitely plan to stay here again on our way to Colorado!

This 1950s era motor inn is super cute! The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. The rates are very reasonable and include a continental breakfast. We highly recommend the Raton Pass Motor Inn and we will definitely be back!

Just an all in all friendly, nice place to stay! Clean room, host helpful & friendly. Took the scenic route to Capulin Volcano as suggested, well worth it… deer, pronghorn, wild turkeys. Stopped at church also.

If you are looking for a great place to set up as a base to travel around the many parks around Raton this is the place. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. The owners take great efforts to make sure you are comfortable. Totally recommend this place!

Clean and quiet with the world's most natural innkeepers lots of interesting old antiques and bicycles old school feel much like Route 66 the rooms are extremely clean and you can park right in front where easy to load your car and keep an eye on it.

This is my 3rd time staying here! Best place in town! Nothing wrong I could say about it! Will keep coming here when I’m in town. Can’t go wrong and the new owners Michael and Brandy are phenomenal!

If you’re looking for a nice, quiet, reasonably priced place to stay… this is it! The rooms have western “personas” and are clean and roomy! Some may think it is “off the beaten path” as far as closeness to downtown, but that gives you a chance to “cruise and sightsee”… plus an I-25 exit is just around the corner from the motel… easy to get on and go up to Trinidad, Co and see the Rockies from Raton Pass! Breathtaking views all around!
Make sure to stay here when in Raton, NM! I know I will be staying here on my next trip there!

We booked here after seeing the great reviews about the new owners and I’m so glad we did. This place was perfect for our overnight stay between Dallas and Colorado. The owners were so friendly and accommodating and the room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again.

This is an experience like no other. So unique, so fun, clean, friendly, wonderful views. I want to come back and experience every individual room! We got the “Lucky 13” room, which is horror movie themed. Initially, our 7 year old was freaked out, but the rest of us found it hilarious, quirky, and fun. Can’t wait to come visit again! Comfortable, clean rooms, spectacular views, friendly and accommodating staff. We love it!

Loved my stay here! Nicest folks in the office and one gorgeous pup, Cherry! Was in the military room which had interesting decor even though I’m not a military fan. The packaged breakfast bag was just right… instant oatmeal, granola bars, goldfish and a peppermint. Never had coffee from a “teabag”… actually very good. Felt safe, room very clean, plenty of towels and hot water. A definite do-over, loved the vintage feel and super reasonable senior rate. Thank you!

Great place for the price nice people.

This place is AMAZING and the owners are so sweet and patient. We arrived after a 10 hour drive with 3 restless kids (all under 6 hrs old) we got here about 730pm and tge first question she asked us was "are yoi hungry? " and I noteced the quaint cointry store/complimentary snack bar that was laid out for guests. We get to our room (theres only 15) and our "neighbor" saw us unloading and immediately called the front desk to complain. She was extremely rude about our kids even tho we had only been in the room a few minutes. My husband met the owner halfway whilst hearing the God awful woman screaming at her at the same time and graciously helped us move to another room. I "graciously" gave a good nite "tap" on the horrible woman's door and we moved on to our next room. All 3 kids and all our luggage in tow. What we found out. Is that these rooms are all uniquely designed with different "themes". We got "Lucky 13" which is all done in classic horror theme. Lol. Well. My kids think they're staying in "Hotel Transylvania"… which happens to be one of their favorite movies. And it turned out so great! we love this place and will definitely be coming back. The rooms are SO clean, the staff SO sweet, and it's in such a great location. We make the trip from Denver to Payson a few times a year to visit family, And this little Motel just off the Raton Pass is such a Gem! Highly Recommend!

We stayed in the room with a cute dog theme. The room was clean and smelled good. Nice breakfast the next morning with cereal, sweet rolls, fruit, yogurt, and boiled eggs, and very good coffee. We enjoyed seeing all the relics from the ‘40s, ‘50s, and ‘60s. Also. The hosts greeted us with friendly smiles, and they helped us feel welcome. At breakfast which is family style, we met a young couple from Germany and which was another plus.

It was definitely a diamond in the rough! We came and they were fully booked, however my husband and I are outdoors people and took advantage of their vintage travel trailers and we loved it. Stepping back in time with our stay — Very Welcoming and helpful staff, will be back as fast as we can.

This is a super cool place. The vintage facility and decorating expressed the feel of Route 66 in its heyday. The owners were groovy and friendly. Their prices are hard to beat as well.

Just having an AWESOME place to stay with a 40s motif was so COOL… one of the BEST continental breakfasts I've ever come acroos… it was such a pleasure to stay here… I highly recommend it to anyone passing through this area…

We loved it. Check in was quick and easy. The lobby is full of forties to sixties memorabilia. I liked the retro room key with the hotel tag. Just like forty years ago. We stayed in room 5, home on the range. The room was great. It was spotless. The bed was quite comfortable. The walls are well soundproofed. The HDTV stand was a seventies TV. Funny. We will return next time through.

We LOVED this place. We were driving pretty late into the night and the woman we spoke to on the phone made our after hours check-in super easy, which we really appreciated. She also called us after we checked out to make sure that we got an emailed receipt, showing how much she cares for her business. The rooms are decorated in a fun and uplifting manner, and everything was very clean.

Stayed here on my trip back to Minnesota, the owners were very friendly and made me feel very welcome. Each room has unique decorations. I found a pack of candy cigarettes in my room. Reminded me of my childhood. I planning on making this a regular stop on my trips to Minnesota. They save a forgot pillow for me until I return home.

The best place to stay in the Trinidad area, love the rooms for dogs. The owner is warm and friendly, and breakfast is good. Its right off the interstate road, quiet and quaint. If you are tired of corporate-style stays, then you've got to try this one, rooms are very clean and cute.

I'm posting my review before I even have left this hotel for my stay! I'm currently in a room called "man's best friend" which is (obviously) a part friendly hotel room adorably decorated with dog everything! Feeling so happy. So comfortable and so very right at home. The lady at the front desk was beyond accommodating after I screwed up the reservation on my end, and I am so grateful. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Clean, quaint, and comfortable. This is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are fabulous. Always helpful and they offer delicious complimentary coffee in the morning! Very clean and well maintained establishment.

We’ve stayed here twice now, and can say that Bunny and Jason are wonderful hosts, and that the motel is a fun, friendly place to be. The rooms are decorated with Americana from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, with an eye to kitsch and local history. There’s an old cafe that will soon house the motel office and adventure rentals. I got a sneak peek and it’s going to be a great place to hang out. Soon there will be themed trailers to stay in, too. Just a great place.

This is a true diamond in the rough! Love this place. It is clean, friendly, helpful. The decor of each room is truly unique from the 50's era. Laurie is a wonderful host. If you want to stay somewhere that is not your cookie cutter motel, stay here. The prices are reasonable and the rooms are large.

Great little motel. They close at 9 so I called them about 8:30 p. M. Not only did they reserved my room for me but they left the door open and put the key on the table. The rooms are cute and carry a theme. The bed had a homemade quilt, that gives the extra charm, and is very comfortable. These vintage route 66 motels are classier than the big chains. Highly recommend it.

Raton Pass Motor Inn is an artfully restored and redecorated mid-century motel. Our spacious room was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and very good water pressure in the shower. The towels were fluffy and had a nice fresh smell to them. Raton is not exactly a foodie paradise and many of the local restaurants were closed when we visited. Laurie recommended Bruno’s Pizza as perhaps the best meal in town. We were skeptical and didn’t really want pizza for dinner, but went there anyway. It was excellent pizza and I’d now trust Laurie for food recommendations any day of the week. There is instant coffee in the room, but the office coffee is excellent (and served all day). The grab and go breakfast was totally adequate and I enjoyed visiting with Jason as we ate a bite and had a cup of coffee. I cannot imagine why anyone would stay anyplace else in Raton.

Would definitely stay here again! The staff is literally the friendliest I've encountered. We showed up pretty late but the woman did not mind waiting for us and greeted us with a complimentary beer. The rooms are SUPER clean, no funky motel smell. The decor is really cute and the beds are comfy. For the price I wasn't expecting anything worth mentioning but I was vey pleasantly surprised.

We spent last night in room 2, so cutely decorated in a western style, complete with a movie poster of an old Western. Very clean, a big comfortable bed, and a TV with good cable reception. The proprietor, Laurie, was charming. We definitely recommend this sweet little inn.

We LOVED this unique, quaint, clean place! It was the perfect stop for us. It is about 6 miles from the CO border, 15-20 minutes from Trinidad, and the room cost less, but is very clean and nice. The bed was extremely comfy and the décor really neat. The hosts have given a lot of thought to guest comfort and we appreciated the niceties such as microwave, fridge, coffee provided in the room, as well as the breakfast provided at the office. We can't wait to see how the Inn changes in the next year. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the new check in / lobby space!

One of the best places I've ever stayed at and by far better than any other motel in Raton. Very friendly staff and rooms are very tastefully decorated. Wifi is strong and rooms are clean. Will definitely stay here next time I'm in Raton.

Very nice find! Super clean, very cool individually decorated rooms that don't go overboard. Have two groups with us on our move to CO; one room has the western theme (huge horns over the bed, complete with candy cigarettes on desk), the other is a pin-up theme with super cool retro furnishings. Would definitely stay here again!

I was a little taken aback when we pulled into this motel. We are traveling across country and staying at Best Westerns. But my husband decided to try something different. The rate was fabulous and they took our dog (a MUST). The owner was the clerk at the desk and very friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, they had Wi-Fi, a flatscreenTV, cable. & free breakfast. What more do you want. Don't let a first impression deter you from staying here.

This is a unique (in a very good way) motel. The staff is very nice and professional. If you're old enough to remember the motor inns you'll be transported to that era. The room was clean and had everything I needed for a two night stay. This is a great place to stay for a "base camp" if you're doing stuff in northeast NM or Southern Colorado. I highly recommend trying this as an alternative to the big chain hotels.

Second year coming back from Denver to San Antonio and I love this place. It's so nice, they accommodate to late arrivals. I love the rooms they're decorated so beautifully and the office has the coolest decorations. Really cool car outside near parking lot and there's a really nice view from the windows. Everyone should stay here if you're passing through Raton.

What a fabulous place! The owner was super friendly and the room we had was just wonderful! Ours was beautifully decorated with 50's B-movie posters. We had the most wonderful stay and we can't recommend this place enough!

Agree with everyone: spotlessly clean for an older (but well-kept) building and so much atmosphere and fun! I was lucky to get the Hacienda (bull-fighter) room and it was just plain fun :). Like another reviewer said, this is a memorable and interesting place. Appreciative of the breakfast and very very nice owner. Also, the little black dog was a cutie! Highly recommend!

Stayed on August 4, 2017. Easier access off the north end of town. My party had three rooms. Each had a different theme decorated with replicas from the past. Building was fairly old but well maintained by its new owners. Old fashioned hospitality.

This was one of the coolest places we stopped on our trip. My 3 year old LOVED the cowboy decor in our room and kept talking about his best friend on the wall, John Wayne. The breakfast was more than what I would have expected of a continental breakfast and the atmosphere was so friendly. Ms. Laurie was a great hostess. We will certainly be back.

Great layout staff is awesome! Then the bedbugs found feeding on me. I brought one to the front desk attendant in the morning … neither a positive or negative response other than what the heck. We got there at 3 am and left at 6am after 8 hours of driving. All the other ratings are true and I know bedbugs are hard to get rid of.

It is a very clean and quaint motel located just right outside the city of Raton. My husband stayed here previously about a month ago, along with my mother in law and my children. They told me how "retro" the motel looked, how updated and clean the room was so I was very excited to see for myself. So my husband and I took a trip to the mountains this past weekend and we decided to go back so I could see for myself and I have to say that I was very impressed with the room and the staff. I met Mrs. Laurie whom my husband told me that she was very helpful, knowledgeable and sweet. When my husband stayed the first time they left about 5:30 the following morning, so they were unable to try the breakfast. We arrived very late in the evening, around 2:00 (out time) 1:00 local time, so arrangements were made to access the room at such a late hour (very accommodating). We slept in late and made it to the breakfast just in time. I have to say that they had a nice little spread for a free breakfast. Bagels, waffles and some mini muffins were among the accoutrement. The coffee was very fresh and tasty. A nice start to the day in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! We will definitely be back again.

I love this town and I love this place. This is what every motel of this era should be; vintage but not tired, comfortable but not modern. So many similar motels have fallen into disrepair, lost their way and taken in long term guests. The rooms here are beautifully decorated with some original features and some added vintage art and furniture. The carpets are new and clean as is the bedding. All the little details seem effortless rather than forced, such as an oldies station on the radio on arrival at reception. I hope the adjacent old cafe is refurbished into a 50s diner as the window signage threatens; and that this is also a success.

This place is adorable! So worth the extremely affordable price. Comfortable rooms. Super sweet owners. The decor will make you feel like you time traveled and the breakfast is all your favorites in one place.

Awesome place makes you feel very welcome. Stayed for about 2 1/2 weeks and felt like family. The personal attention of Laurie and Jason is exceptional especially in this age of cookie cutter and impersonal corporate hotels/motels. Would and do recommend this place to any and everyone.
