A great location in the middle of downtown Madison. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a great time.

Excellent staff, clean, modern, Perfect location! Will definitely make this a regular stay. Treat yourself and upgrade to the Governor’s Club, you will love it!

I have never been so disappointed. My boyfriend and I only take one night away from our kids a year and all we wanted was to be able to relax in a quiet jacuzzi suite and this is what happened when we turned it on. After calling someone to fix it we were told it was just cleaned and to try to drain it and try again. This is what was still left after draining it three times. This used to be a favorite hotel of ours but I don’t think we will be coming back. For the price we paid for this room this should not happen!

Definitely a nice luxury hotel to hit the sack after walking around the Capital all day after work. I forgot where I parked my car. After 4 hours of searching I found it. Then I checked in and just a heads up the food here is not available all night. Note remember where you park!

Great place awesome bartender!

Went for NYE and had fun. But we didn't have a working toilet in our room and maintenance came to look at it then never came back. Also we had a choice of hot or cold air. Had to get up several times to adjust the thermostat.

Rooms are very comfortable. Staff extremely friendly. Definitely will be back.

The Jacuzzi and Airtub rooms! Romantic and therapeutic love it. Beautiful docor with comfy linens, the most helpful staff. And last, but not least, the Governors Club. Both drinks and food were great for relaxing and enjoying the Capitals view.

From the time of check in until the time I left everyone was polite, courteous and helpful. The facilities are very clean and nice. Convenient walking distance to local shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

I booked a room as a wedding gift for a family member and I personally went to check in to make sure there would be no problems. The employees are super nice and friendly. I believe the employee's name that helped us is Matthew (I'm sorry if I'm wrong), he upgraded the newly weds with a room that has a jacuzzi and a Capitol view that included drinks and free breakfast for no extra charge! Thank you so much! That was so awsome and nice of him and the hotel! It was very much appreciated! I totally recommend The Concourse. Thank you again!

This is a great place to go if you are visiting Madison, make sure that you ask for a room with a view to the Capitol Building. There are a lot of restaurants and shops in the general vicinity, and the amenities at the hotel are great. It is interesting that they have a key card that you need to get to your specific level, but it also allows you to go to the gym and other services. I would definitely recommend that if you are looking for an upscale place to stay in Madison.

Wonderful experience! From booking to check in and beyond, the staff is invested in a great experience. The hotel is beautiful and rooms are clean. The views are great and overall, location cannot be beat. We were less than 10 minutes from every event and location we wanted to attend in Madison. Absolutely worth the visit.

Upon arrival, quick check in. The hotel is very secure as it requires key card to access most things. The room included a fridge but no microwave. The microwave is community operated on specified floor. The rest of the room was very cozy and comfortable. They advertised an arcade room on specified floor but when we went to that floor no arcade room was found. It put a damper on my mood as I was looking forward to it. Hotel breakfast was exquisite. Overall, great stay.

I’ve stayed several times in this, my favorite hotel room in Madison, and enjoyed the largest room with Governors Club access. I was there to accept my award for Best Blues Song in Madison at The Madison Area Music Awards held in the Capitol Theater Sunday night. This time was just not as good as my previous visits. The front staff upon arriving were overwhelmed with business and were cranky and a little weird. One man even made an extremely weird personal
comment to me that was not appreciated. The shower head in the room was actually way too hard, which is something I would never say, but it actually hurt us it was so stinging. The appetizers, cocktails, and desserts in the lounge were truly disappointing this time and the bartender was not friendly or accommodating. I see several complaints about the food being gone very quickly as well, so it seems that you need to make more to accommodate your guests that are expecting that as part of the governors club experience. When trying to enjoy the pool/sauna area, it was so so so over chlorinated that the hot tub was filled with suds (bubbles). I smelled them and the chlorine just in the bubbles was so strong it burned my nose hair. I’m just used to having a flawless experience here, and it is pricey as hell, so this time was just very disappointing from what I’m used to. I also don’t think you should have to call for ice, your staff is VERY obviously annoyed by it, and it’s just easier to be able to get your own ice.

The hotel is very nice. The service is excellent and really reflects well on the excellent people they have working there. The room accommodations were nice and the rooms were well appointed. My only real complaint was the bed. The bed was old and uncomfortable which when you're only real important experience in any hotel is sleeping having an uncomfortable bed is a concern. This is easily a 5 star (Google) stay (3.5 to 4 star hotel) if their beds are improved.

Nice location in the heart of downtown Madison. I stayed here twice and enjoyed my stay. The staff are eager to please and the rooms are both clean and well kept. The shuttle service is only free to and from the airport and isn't available at all times. During the hours of unavailability they ask you to acquire a cab on your own then reimburse you. This is not always done properly if you decide to pay the cab with a card that is not registered with your room. They have one dining facility and the food is good, but the eating choices are unusually limited.

I recently attended a conference at the Concourse Hotel and was beyond impressed! Every employee was amazing! I was put in charge of AV for the conference (yikes! ) and needed lots of help. The staff was amazing. From helping with our own equipment problems to finding us adaptors, they could not have been more helpful. A special thank you to Jameson for so graciously helping with all my AV emergencies! Upon advice from other attendees I stayed on the Governor's level. What an experience! The Governor's lounge is well worth the extra price. A beautiful view of the capital, appetizers, desserts, drinks, and amazing bartenders. Sam was wonderful! Everything and everyone was top notch and professional.

A beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Madison! I have visited a few times. It's a gorgeous hotel that hosts a lot of community events. They have a nice big parking ramp and fancy restaurants. The food was amazing here. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We enjoyed visiting this hotel. Our latest visit was for a conference. They have a huge convention hall. It's a great fancy atmosphere.

Stayed here for an Epic conference. Accommodations were nice, room was very clean, staff was friendly and their shuttle picked me up from the airport. Had complimentary water and granola bars each morning before jumping on the buses. Nice facility overall and convenient location being down town, close to great restaurants. The gym was nice, the pool and hot tub was great. Would recommend it!

We stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday and everything was phenomenal. I was sent a pre-check in e-mail and was able to request an earlier check in; which they were able to accommodate. That morning I had some concerns and called and the staff was friendly and kind, they put my mind at ease. We stayed on the top floor and the view was beautiful. The Governor's Club was nice and had delicious drinks. The breakfast was surprisingly delicious too. All in all I was so happy with the hotel, everything exceeded expectations. You also can't beat the location. It was a lot of fun to be able to walk the farmer's market and State street, without having to get our car out. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend!

I was here for a work meeting. The lounge by the front desk was comfortable and fit a lot of people. Front desk staff was friendly and bathrooms we're close and clean. The meeting room was large, had a decent size screen, and the media hook ups worked great. Supper was served buffet still and the food and staff were both excellent. If everything else in the hotel is as good it's definitely worth 5 starts.

Good breakfast and again we enjoyed a nice view of the capital building while we ate. Beds were nice and the bathroom and shower were spacious, always a plus in our book. Beautiful hotel. Amazing location. You can see the State Capitol building from the lounge located on one of the top floors. The staff is super nice as well. Their Director of Operations, Stephanie is beyond nice and caring. This is a great hotel to stay at when visiting Madison, WI.

My son's wedding reception was in the Grand Ballroom. The staff was Over the top OUTSTANDING, each staff member we worked with was knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant, and made sure the reception was perfect. The front desk staff rallied and covered my mistakes in getting the bridal party to the church on time! They went out of their way to make our stay and the reception an outstanding memorable experience! I would recommend staying here whenever you're in Madison. Thanks again Madison Concourse staff!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown. Close proximity and within walking distance of restaurants, bars, the State Capital building, etc. Offers a free shuttle to/from the airport. Lobby includes a restaurant ("Circ"), Starbucks, and comfortable seating. Room was large. Bed was very comfortable! High tub shower, in case that is of concern.

I have stayed in the Governor's Club many times and am always satisfied. The rooms are immaculate, the beds are heavenly, and the lounge is the cherry on top. It would be nice if they could add a bartender, as some evenings are very busy and the wait for a drink is very long. Breakfast is super deluxe continental. This continues to be my favorite downtown Madison hotel.

The hotel was wonderful! When you arrive the staff immediately step outside to greet you, offer to take your bags and valet park your car. Parking is $10 per night, valet or self-park. Definitely spend a little extra and get a Govenor's Club room on the higher floors. The rooms are very nice, you get free top-shelf drinks at the Governor's Club lounge, free snacks, free breakfast and VIP treatment. It was my birthday and they brought free champagne up to the room on a tray with a flower. Pool was nice, as was the hot tub and fitness center. The on-site restaurant is pricey so we went out for dinner. There is a Starbucks on-site. Overall, excellent experience and would absolutely stay here again!

This hotel is fabulous! I came for Epic training and I'm wishing it was more than a one — day class. I'll definitely be here for future Epic certification endeavors as well as let all my colleagues know what a great place this is to stay when travelling to Epic. I showed up hours before check-in (around 12pm? ) and was given a beautiful room right away on the Governor's Club floor. The Governor's Club is highly recommended. I loved having access to the lounge where I could pop in for a cup of coffee and a snack, and chat with other patrons of the hotel. I had lunch down in the Circ restaurant and it was absolutely to die for! There's a Starbucks coffee on site (win! ) and the decor is just beautiful. I was also highly impressed by very small details that just show how much they care about attending to every little thing, like the small Epic shuttle leaflet they give you that explains the shuttle times. It's just so neat and thorough, having the Epic logo and it just makes you feel like since you're here for Epic, you needn't worry, they know exactly what you're doing and how to take care of you. This is my fifth time out to Madison for Epic training and my experience at the Madison Concourse is HANDS DOWN my best so far.

I've been to events hosted here a couple of times now and I am always pleased. Clean, high end aesthetic. Close, cheap parking with valet availability is also a nice perk. And if course it's also right off the square so the location is prime for food, drinks, and activities. Everyone I've interacted with has been very friendly as well. Given the events I've attended are Camp Bingo, I can also say that this hotel is LGBT friendly, so extra rainbow star for that.

The staff is very friendly and efficient. Our stay was very welcoming. Gorgeous decor with a great bar and restaurant inside. The governor's club is recommended. We had an air tub suite with a view of the capital and a great private governor's club access breakfast the next morning. The guest service director is very involved in client satisfaction. Would recommend, would stay again. Give them a try.

I can't say enough about The Concourse Hotel and Governors Club! Awesome rooms wonderful service great food! When our car wouldn't start the next morning not only did the valet service try and jump it twice with both charger and cables but the Concours also gave us a room to stay in while we waited along with tickets for food and drink. Thank you so much! We recommend you to everyone.

Great reception with friendly staff. Dinner for a large gathering was great — much above average compared to similar large events I've attended elsewhere. Chicken in particular was moist and enjoyable, but all the food was great. Combined with the great space, was a very nice outing.

Very nice hotel. Have to have a hotel key card to use elevator so it give a feeling of security in the hotel. Hotel has a very nice restaurant. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are nice. There is a lot of homeless people sleeping on the streets around the hotel.

I loved this hotel! We were fortunate enough to stay in a room on one of the upper Governor's Floor, and get a room facing the the beautiful State Capitol building. The Governor's Club Bar are is nice and cozy, and spending the extra money to stay on the upper floors was well worth it. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the pool/ hot tub/ sauna/ workout facility is open until 11pm and in excellent condition. The location is also walking distance from the Capitol, lot's of restaurants, bars, breweries, and shops. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Top notch!

Rooms Clean. Modern and Cozy design. Great fitness center and pool. Good Customer Service. I really could not find anything to complain about. The only problem I had was getting stranded at the airport due to their lack of proactively coordinating transportation, but they made up for this with their service skills. There are a couple who are most unhelpful, but I've generally have had a consistently enjoyable experience.

I came to the Concourse Hotel for a conference. The room space was adequate size for the event and the food was well prepared. I could easily hear speakers and see projected media for any location in the room. Workers were friendly and helpful and the restrooms were clean.

I don't know why you would book your event anywhere else! From start to finish The Concourse delivered in every way possible. Special thanks to Kaitlyn Chamberlin, Emily Rauber and Julie Woodward for being incredibly easy to work with and just all around awesome in every way! Also, Eric Hill, the banquet manager for the majority of our Conference was hands down the best manager we have ever worked with after over 10 years of doing this conference at other hotels. The renovations are gorgeous and the service is second to none. All of the amenities on the Governors Suite floors were incredible, I truly did not want to leave. I am looking forward to many more "staycations" at this place becasue this is by far the best hotel in Madison.

Stayed in here for a conference. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easily accessible parking garage with reasonable rates. Centrally located on the square, so you can walk to pretty much anything you would ever want in Madison. Rooms were clean and high quality.

Unintentionally landed here due to air travel mishap. Arrived late and Jessica at the Front Desk was beyond helpful. Was late and we were hungry, tired and not a little frustrated with our trip. Jessica assisted by first with evaluating pizza options, but upon learning delivery time were 2 hours out, Jessica quickly took an order from us for the bar, which was insanely busy (3 events at the hotel) yet 10 mins before close, and sent us to our room. Much to our surprise, Jessica personally delivered our late dinner with a smile a short time later. Given we’d been trapped in airports and airplanes over the previous 12 hours (traveling from Des Moines, IA) and missing our connection to Rome, Italy, Jessica was the only bright spot in our day. My fiancée and I are extremely grateful for her exceptional service and, if we ever find ourselves in Madison again, on purpose or otherwise, we’ll be sure to stay at the Concourse again. Thank you, Jessica.

Hotel is conveniently located 1 block from state Capitol building. Near many restaurants, bars, and shops. Fitness center also has free weights. Great breakfast buffet and lunch buffet in restaurant. Decent prices in hotel bar. Starbucks on site. Pool and sauna available. Shuttle to and from airport.

Everything was perfect! When we got there they upgraded our room, let is checkout late, answered all of our questions (directions) and gave us some good local tips. Like I said, perfect.

I've been here before, and it still remains of the better hotels in town. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The TV channels are limited, but I'm not much for that anyway so it's less of an issue. There's a good restaurant and bar in building, and a Starbucks too boot. Valet service is available, and while a bit cramped, underground parking is complimentary with the room. Strongly recommend you stay here if you've got anything going on in the downtown area, as it's within walking distance of just about everything.

Comfy beds. Nice pool. There is a sauna which I was unable to use. Parking is not free ($10 a night) and the parking garage ceilings have a 6' 6" clearance. Nice front desk. Nice bellhops and front desk employees. Breakfast is not free; you have to order from the restaurant. Will update if I think of anything.

Location is great. Near the down town life but out of the direct light of the night life. Receptionist was great, parking is plentiful and very clean. There are many accommodations for your enjoyment including a gym, pool, sauna, and many more. Friendly staff and a comfy bed wrapped in luxary. Can't ask for more.

Atmosphere, service, and amenities are top-notch. It's a short walk to some of the best restaurants in Madison as well as the eclectic shops down State St. Parking garage is harrowing with a larger vehicle… nearby public garage is much more forgiving. Governor's Club has a decent selection of top-shelf liquors and an awesome view of the Capitol but seems to get a little bit loud considering the location. Circ isn't bad but there are better options within a five-minute walk. The Bar has a nice ambience, excellent service, and good selection of liquor and bar foods. In all this is a great place to stay, but I would eat dinner nearby.

Worth every penny! Whether your there for an event or just a night away I highly recommend getting a room on the Governors level. The club and Zach the bartender make it amazing. All the staff is extremely helpful and wonderful. This place is on my list of top 5 hotels that I've ever stayed in.

I was on the 14th floor got a 2 bed room for my birthday. Figured treat myself this year. The governor's club itself has nice perks the free drinks at private lounge, free breakfast, golden elevator access. The staff was good, nice, friendly. But I was not satisfied with the room. For being top floor and an expensive room it was very small, the beds were right next to each other like a basic hotel room just dresser in between. I also didn't have a capitol view from room. Overall I would say it isn't worth it since downtown Madison already has many bars and lounges/great restaurants. Also that I could have gotten same sized room and view on a regular floor.

The hotel and staff was fantastic. They were incredibly accommodating with food because we have food allergies. Krissy (one of the managers) was extremely helpful and great to work with. The wait staff at the attached restaurant was incredible. We had such a great experience we will not consider another hotel to stay in downtown Madison.

We went up to Madison to see a show at The Orpheum Theater, and chose to stay at the Madison Concourse Hotel as it got great reviews and is just a few blocks from the venue. I was very pleased with my experience during our quick mid-week stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby was very chic and our room was clean and very comfortable. I don't think I've ever slept in a more comfortable hotel bed! It would have been great to get a room with a view of the capitol, but our city/lake view room was nice and quiet (we also booked via Hotwire and got a great deal, so beggars can't be choosers). Parking is a tight squeeze, so be careful if you have a large vehicle, but it was super convenient and reasonably priced (secure underground parking for $10/night as a guest, and we were able to keep our car there the whole next day while we went sight-seeing around the city). Would definitely re-visit this hotel.

LOVED this hotel! We stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon and enjoyed all the perks of the Governer's Club. The room was beautiful, the service was top notch, and it was perfectly located downtown for walking distance to nearly everything. The only downside I had with this hotel was that there was a convention that weekend and my husband and I considered upgrading our room to one with a jacuzzi in the room, however because of the convention the hotel was completely sold out. Granted I could have booked that earlier but it was slightly disappointing that we didn't have the option. Also the parking deck was insane. The lanes were super tight with quick turns required and narrow spaces to park in. I would still stay in this hotel again and I'll make sure to book the jacuzzi room next time. ;)

Overpriced for what you get. Food in restaurant is unnecessarily spendy and pretentious (duck fat popcorn balls? Seriously? ). The flatbread pizza I ordered was coated in flour and the cheap tasting toppings were barely heated in the oven — at first, I thought it had been microwaved. Last time I stayed, I had access to the Governor's Lounge, which made it more worth the choice. This time that was all booked up, making it pretty pointless choosing this hotel. Next time I'd opt to stay somewhere with an INCLUSIVE manager's reception and a FREE continental breakfast. Also, the rooms have a fridge, but no microwave, which sucks. And no to go coffee cups in the room, so you have to drink it before you leave, if you even want to bother with their nasty coffee. Wish there was an embassy suites…

The Madison Concourse Hotel was truly great. The staff were very kind and the rooms were very nice. Bed were comfortable, and the breakfast was spot on with lots of options. The whole place has a pretty contemporary vibe, too. I'd recommend to anyone.

Nice staff. The lobby looks to be newly redone and is nice. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable. The location is great.

The hotel is well clean and in the center of Madison. Well easy traverse the city from the hotel.

Good value amongst the downtown hotel offerings. We stayed here to see a concert at the Orpheum. We parked in the city ramp located diagonally from the hotel. We had a over sized soaking tub in our 2 queen room. Had a nice view of the Capitol Dome from our room. Lots of outlets and tons of inputs for the tv. Onsite Starbucks a definite plus. We will return to this hotel. Madison is an amazing place to visit and this hotel made our visit even better.

The food was what you would expect for a large conference. No complaints. The room was great. Great place for a student council state conference. I really liked the atmosphere in the lobby.

The Madison Concourse Hotel was right by the capital. A lot of shops and restaurants close by. The lobby is big and comfortable with a restuarant and Starbucks attached. There were plenty of elevators that were quick and efficient. The conference rooms were big with comfortable chairs and always water available.

This hotel only has parking clearance for cars. You will spend a lot of you plan on staying with a truck or van. We had to park in a garage across the street. This hotel is very nice inside. The pool was a great temperature and I loved how big the hot tub was. The sauna is authentic and they provide a spoon and bowl to put water on the hot rocks. We were able to get the sauna above 140 degrees. The tubs in the bathrooms are big and super deep. Might have been the best part. There are refrigerators in each room and a Starbucks in the lobby. We had a great view of the state capital building. Will stay here again.

This is my 4th Valentine's weekend spent at the Madison Concourse. I absolutely love it, or I wouldn't be coming back! The Governor's Club is amazing and includes free dirnks in the evenings, along with hors dvoures and breakfast. I rate this hotel a 10!

My experience at this hotel was great! The purpose of my trip was for training in Verona and I am very glad I decided to stay in downtown Madison for the convenience of being within walking distance of dozens of great restaurants and other entertainment. The service was also spectacular. I plan to stay here again for all my return visits to Madison.

The beds are comfortable and the shuttle service was great. However, my room was like a closet. All of my co workers rooms were roomy. My friend has major allergies to feathers and down and severe asthma and had to tell the staff numerous times to remove all from the room. Night after Night she was unable to have restful sleep because later realized even the comforter was down. They tried to make up for it with free Starbucks. Another co worker was gluten free for our work conference and the options seemed to be the same. Chicken and Salad for 4 days gets old. The restaurant and bar food was fantastic. The staff is nice and accommodating. Very clean. I would return again and recommend.

From the moment you walk in the service is exceptional! The rooms are clean and inviting. Staying in the Governor's Club rooms/floors is very much with the upgrade, including free breakfast in the morning (which had a wide variety of foods and was very good! ). This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel as well as the Governor's Club rooms. The parking ramp is under construction, not fun, but manageable and was fine. I'd recommend this hotel to friends and family.

The best hotel in Madison. Book the Governor's level for free drinks, snacks, nightly desserts, and breakfast. Quiet rooms with great city views. Parking is $10/per day.

The shower was fantastic, elevators are frustrating. Beds comfortable and clean! The fact that Starbucks is right next door is super convenient.

This hotel is awesome! The rooms are so spacious, the staff is extremely friendly and the restaurant is really nice as well. I don't go to Starbucks, but there is one in the building which would be very convenient for most people. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. On the pricey side, but it is worth it and I got the most amazing view of the Capitol building from my room.

The room was a step up from what I expected. Nice big bathroom too. Service was very good, and there's a Starbucks in the lobby :)

Great for weddings! We had our reception and block of hotel rooms at the Concourse and they were a DREAM to work with. From the very first tour we took of the hotel when we were deciding on venues, The Concourse was far and away the most helpful, informative, and accommodating venue that we saw. We had estimated that we would have around 250 guests with many of them travelling out of town, so having the reception at a hotel where our guests could stay made the most sense to us. Once we signed the contract and booked the date, we were assigned to a Sales/Catering Manager who was our coordinator. Unfortunately, our original coordinator (who we loved! ) left for another position about 6 months before our wedding, but our new coordinator, Julianne, was quick to jump in and was flawless in her help! The communication back and forth regarding all of the minute details was exceptional and I felt completely at ease going into the wedding day, knowing our day was in great hands. The wedding day itself was wonderful (of course! ) but Julianne and The Concourse staff made sure everything was as we asked. Our guests loved the room (Madison/Wisconsin ballroom) and had rave reviews about the hotel! Excellent venue and hotel!

Above and beyond what I expected! We received a free bottle of champagne and a tray of chocolate and strawberries for our anniversary. We relaxed in the air jet tub and enjoyed our fabulous view of the Capitol building. The governor's club was exquisite with excellent service. We felt pampered the whole time we were at the hotel. Well worth the price!

This was our second stay at the Concourse hotel. This time we stayed under the Hotel With a Heart program. This is where the hotel donates an overnight stay for a family with a child with special needs. The idea is to get the parents a night out without kids. The night was a blast, service was at the same level we received the first trip — excellent. Staff was professional and took care of all our requests. I love companies that give back and the Concourse certainly does that. Thank you.

I called to add a room to my reservation and was told that because I did my reservation online that there was nothing they could do for me. What the heck? You're telling me that you can't add a room for me because I reserved online? I ended up just stating to the woman, M that I would just add a room online since she wasn't able to help me and we disconnected. M called me back and stated her name and where she was from that we had recently talked and once again I told her that I would be adding a room via online reservation since she could not help me and she laughed at me on the phone and then hung up on me. Horrible customer service. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

I am not impressed with this hotel, I believe it's highly overrated. I have also stayed at other hotels close by and their services were far superior to that of the Madison Concourse. The Governor's club was the best part of my stay.

I stayed here for the 2014 National Mock Trial Competition along with my teammates and coaches. We loved the rooms and had a great stay in Madison! One bad thing about the rooms are that the doors do not shut themselves when you go into the rooms. Other than that, they're great! We had such comfortable beds, a nice bathroom, and a swoon-worthy view of Capital Square. I would definitely stay again.

This revue pertains to the Governor's Club — the elite top three floors and Club Room. don't do it. It's tempting. You assume you'll be treated as a first class guest. They up charge the room around $75 or more. The room is not different than any other room in the hotel. (Forgive me. You get two plastic bottles of water. ) Can you drink $75 worth of liquor a day? Do you look forward to the most pedestrian appetizers you have ever, ever eaten and only during a two hour window of opportunity? Do you relish rubbery powdered eggs, sour pineapple and morning pastries that are barely thawed every morning? ALSO, parking is not included. Three nights in their structure was over $50. AND I had to buy a frigging news paper. Holiday Inn gives you a news paper for heaven's sake! NOT WORTH IT.

I understand the power of rating a place very well because of the reviews I have read on this hotel. This was supposedly the end all, be all in Madison as far as hotels go. So late one night driving in, this is ultimately where the star ratings guided me. To my dismay, service was slow even though there wasn't much going on. We stayed in one of their top floor suites and it was decent at best. This hotel is much older than it lets on. But everything was very clean and in its place. The bathroom is small and very plain. And then they have the hot tub across from the bed. Very strange placement and no privacy whatsoever. It reminded me of a Syberis commercial (do they still have those? ). Because we stayed in one of their suites we had access to there cocktail lounge which was TINY. The drinks were stiff though and it was probably the better parts of my stay there. For as much as it cost, I had an equal experience at the Double Tree for half the price. It was okay, but not especially impressive in any way.

The hotel was fantastic. No cleaning product smells that are supposed to indicate things are clean. The staff was consistently and genuinely warm and kind. We had a hotel maid named Ann who was so warm and truly enjoyed her job. We praised her for her work when we met her. She said "I haven't even done anything for you. " I said " You did. You made us this beautiful clean room. " Thank you.
