Beautiful views of the lake. Delicious brunch! Great service. Lovely restaurant atmosphere.

I just wanted to express my disappointment in the fact that this “luxury” establishment only advertises 8.50$ an hour for a whole licensed Esthetician. That’s really all I got. Disappointing. Try to work on that.

Kara in the spa gives the most relaxing, through facials with beautiful results. Spring gave me the best massage Ive ever had in my life. Beautiful environment and friendly, informed and knowledgeable staff.

First was the welcome we received and a perfect seating where we viewed the magnificent Lake Mendota. Service was excellent and Chef created my fillet mignon better than I have ever had. On to dessert and chatting with house manager, Igor, who treated us like family! I highly recommend dining at The Statehouse for dinner or lunch. You will be glad you did.

The Edgewater is an very nice hotel. Great views from the upper floors. Classic style. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing that I was surprised by was that was no spa tub in our room. Other than that, it is good to go.

What a view! Awesome room. We are staying in the premium lakefront king. Huge shower, separate tub (not jetted) and quiet atmosphere… celebrating our 2 year anniversary here.

Beautiful hotel on the water.

My husband and I decided to make the Edgewater our home away from home to celebrate our anniversary this year. The staff was so kind to us! And to our fur babies who had to come along. They upgraded our room and were so friendly every time we walked through the lobby doors. This isn’t the anniversary we planned due to the pandemic but the staff and amenities here more than made up for the change in plans. We’ve been here for other events like the Thanksgiving buffet and the tree lighting and loved every minute. Our stay didn’t disappoint. Thank you Edgewater!

My new husband and I had our wedding and small intimate reception at The Edgewater and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Even with the COVID and protests restrictions (helping you keep staff and guests safe! ) they did an amazing job at welcoming us and making sure our wedding weekend was a relaxation and romantic one. Big shout outs to Sara, Emily, Igor, Lois, and the rest of the serving team. We will def be back for our anniversaries and we recommend this for weddings or just a needed weekend away!

What a lovely property with gorgeous views & a stellar staff!

A beautiful overlook of the lake and good food and service.

The room was not well kept. Carpet was stained didn't feel clean. Also, we booked a room with a lake view. Well, you could see the lake… If you put your face up to the window and looked left. Only nice part was the staff in the nail salon. Every time we used that entrance they were so pleasant and friendly.

We stayed at the Edgewater for a big birthday celebration. The service of the staff went above an beyond our expectations! The room was gorgeous! We will be returning to celebrate other special functions!

We visited the Wine Room at the Edgewater for a wedding reception. It was a beautiful room/building. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful. It was a great experience.

Boutique hotel. Beautiful rooms, many look over the lake. Very close to downtown. Wonderful balconies. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Lovely property with a spa.

The location was great! Beatify views of the lake and close to all the great places downtown. Rooms were good and nice bathrooms. Service at dining and bar was spotty. Some great workers and others felt annoyed to serve us and we had a large group, lots of drinks, and high tips. We used a meeting room off the state room that had a great private balcony and view. If the service was better, I would have had no complaints. (Potato pucks at breakfast we're terrible-do NOT even bother and coffee was very weak)

The hotel is beautiful! We love being on a lake, the views and the activities at the hotel are so lovely. That being said… this hostel is on a fraternity and sorority row of houses in all directions for blocks! Still enjoying the high from the special night on Saturday at The Edgewater. I love that the hotel welcomes our community for memorable events. Seeing Blues Traveler in the small venue was so cool, and the hotel did a great job accommodating everyone. I am grateful that they could make changes on the fly based on weather etc. To make this happen. Top notch, from top to bottom. Thanks to the attentive staff and crew for a wonderful experience!

Normally, Edgewater gets a 5 star. We had tickets to Blues Traveler summer Outdoor concert. The weather didn’t cooperate, but Edgewater did the right thing and before noon called everyone with tickets and said it would be held inside. The doors were supposed to open at 5pm. The Jimmys were to play at 6pm. Doors didn’t open til after 6pm. The poor people with VIP tickets did have a table & chair, but on the side line with some at back of room?! Everyone else was supposed to stand for a 4 hr Concert. Finally, someone found some metal stools, but we had to go get them ourself, and not enough stools for everyone. This made the VIP area no better than anyone else. We had VIP people coming to our high table saying we could see better than they could. Then, The Jimmy’s (who are good), but we see for free at the WI Brewing Co. All summer (so their songs are all sounding the same) ended up playing for 3 hrs. We paid for tickets to see Blues Traveler not Jimmy’s. Blues Traveler didn’t show up til 9:20 and the show was supposed to end at 10pm. They did have a nice show and did play their 2 hrs, but it was a late night now for some people. Many left at 10pm as it was already a long night of drinking. Some things to be fair were not Edgewater’s fault like the weather & lateness of band, and the fact that The Jimmy’s need some new songs & stop dragging songs like “Go Around in Circle” on for 15 min.

Fresh, elegant, thoughtful service in a unique, but modern and enjoyable building. The facility is great, all refurbished and very modern. I stayed on the 12th floor and had a nice balcony and a really good view. Tip: Use the screen but leave the sliding glass door open for great fresh air. The hotel was busy with a number of big events, but the Valets were calm and attentive. I really enjoyed my stay here and look forward to return for another business meeting!

Upon check in, the room was not ready. Was told they'd call us when the room was ready. We went down to their Boathouse Bar for over an hour and still no call. Had to go back to front desk and ask if room was ready where the desk staff asked to see our ID again. You just viewed our ID a little over an hour ago and said you'd call when the room was ready… which you didn't do. On our way to the room, there were dirty washcloths laying in the hall and dirty glasses. The dirty glasses remained in the hall for nearly 24 hours. There was also a dirty water glass in our room, upon arrival. It had red wine residue in it from a previous guest. Also, was charged more for a glass of champagne in the bar than was stated in the menu ($16 vs. $15) and bartender was not pleasant evening of 7/8. Hard to get a strong cell signal in level 2 near the lake. Bar staff couldn't give us efficient directions to the amenities, like the Boathouse. Boathouse bartender on afternoon of 7/7 was aloof and more concerned with her cell phone and chatting with other staff than giving good service. Also, bottled water (part of resort fee) wasn't refreshed on day 2. You just expect way more from a place like this given it's reputation. The view is great and the room spacious, but that's where it ends. No consistency and truly disappointing to us.

Minus the confusion of where to park when checking in and the elevators to get up to the sky bar, this place was nice. Great view, helpful staff, and good food. The appetizers I had the first night of my event there were delicious as well as the chocolate chip cookies. There was a mistake on my bill, but it was resolved very quickly after I called.

The hotel was phenomenal. It's a great event space as well. The restaurants on site had great food. All the associates were very friendly and helpful. Great views of the lake and easily within walking distance of shops and bars. I would definitely stay there again.

We're really enjoying the free music on their terrace this summer. It could do with some more shade, but I truly don't k ow whow they'd pull that off. The sound is good, the bands are good, it's family friendly, and the food and drink isn't unreasonably expensive, and you can bring in your own food. Nor is the parking overly expensive for downtown, and there's likely to be some free on the street.

I attended the outdoor movie event for Grease's 40th anniversary last night. The entire campus the hotel is located on is beautifully designed and has a large variety of businesses nearby. I felt like I was on vacation. The movie screening was super fun and ran smoothly.

The stay at Edgewater was an inviting experience. From the moment you arrive and see the elegant buildings looking over the large body of water, to the time you depart, you are well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This place is big and it is easy to get lost, but the staff was helpful guiding me to my room. The view is stunning and having an on property restaurant and bar overlooking the water makes it just as stunning of a place to stay. All the locals told me how great it was that I was staying there, and I have to agree with their enthusiasms.

Say that the Edgewater. I'm only commenting on visiting it as an attendee for meetings. It's definitely a first-class Hotel. Often seems pretty empty, although I'm usually there on weekdays. It's extremely well put together, very elegant and I welcome remodel from the previous Hotel. The pier isn't quite as nice as it used to be as you're really not on the water. But you are close to it. Prices have similarly risen for drinks and food. It's not an inexpensive place to stop and eat. But generally I find it to be a pleasant experience.

My experience with the Edgewater was less than spectacular. I have a distinct feeling that the hotel didn't know what they were getting themselves into when they allowed themselves to be fully booked with multiple events as well. Upon check in we we're assigned our room which was not the room type requested. About half of the people from our group were told that they were going to have to wait to check in so I guess it was fortunate that we were able to check in at all. We were on the tenth floor of the building that has the lobby. We didn't make use of the facilities so I can't comment on those. The bed was not particularly comfortable, something akin to a dry sponge, however it was like a cloud when compared to the pillows. Honestly, the best part of the room was the shower. Also for your own sanity, pay the extra and valet parking. The parking situation is a nightmare.

The Edgewater is a very nice, recently renovated hotel. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The desk was small, but still very usable for work. I had two significant negatives during my stay. The blackout blinds in my room were stuck down, so I wasn't able to have any natural light or enjoy what would have otherwise been a nice view of the lake. Also, the room service breakfast that I ordered the night before arrived a full 15 minutes after the delivery window that I selected. In both cases, hotel staff apologized and replied with variations of "yeah, that happens all the time". I debated between 3 and 4 stars. Hopefully the negatives I encountered aren't common?

I love the Edgewater. I live nearby and have attended and planned conferences there, which have always been enjoyable. I frequently go to the spa, which I love. The wellness on the water membership is great for local residents!

The ballroom is beautiful with great views of lake Mendota. The staircase, coat rooms and restrooms are all intuitively laid out with a direct connection to the parking garage without having to go outside. There are doors you can use to go out to the outdoor patio from the ballroom lobby.

This historic fully updated hotel has everything. Located on Lake Mendota, it has breath taking views of the water, or of our state capitol. All the staff was more than friendly & helpful. After your home, you'll crave the amazing food. We had an amazing stay, and would love to come back… when it's summer!

Very nice hotel, but for the price it wasn't worth it. One mediocre over price restaurant while the others were under construction. It's a maze getting from one end to the other with tunnels and you need a map to find your car. Room was fine except my TV didn't work right away, I had to call the front desk to get it resolved. Light bulb was flickering and needed to be changed. Normally wouldn't be a big deal, but when you pay that much for a room it should be good to go.

One of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. Room is clean and spacious. The bathroom and shower stall we're also extremely roomy. Only bad thing was the Boathouse restaurant. They've only been open a week so they're still working some things out. My steak and fries come in a basket on wax paper. So I ate wax paper along with my dinner.

We loved the Frozen Assets festival! So many great activities for everyone to do. The inside area to watch the various dancers was a bit congested. We weren't able to watch any of them because by the time we made it there, it was overflowing. We had previously done the indoor Christmas festival there and having the huge dance floor in the ballroom with lots of floor space for kids to sit up front was a great way to allow more people to enjoy that part of the festivities. Hopefully that will be changed for future events.

Went to the Edgewater for drinks, The Boathouse specifically​. The view of Lake Mendota from inside The Boathouse is great. The drinks were tasty and a little pricier ($9 for a Moscow Mule) as you might imagine since you're paying for the view and drinking in an upscale hotel. I wasn't sure where to meet my colleagues when I first arrived at The Edgewater so when I asked for directions to The Boathouse inside the hotel proper and I also asked if they would validate my parking for me since I parked in their parking garage. The hotel said The Boathouse would validate for me. Upon leaving the Boathouse I asked one of the waitresses to validate my parking she did 'we don't do that here. ' I took my parking stub to the front desk in the Edgewater and person behind the front desk asked if I had eaten in the Statehouse and when I told her "no, I got drinks in The Boathouse' she said " we only validate parking when you dine in the Statehouse. " I then took my parking stub upstairs to the Statehouse on the second floor and the hostess asked if I dined there I told her I had drinks in the Boathouse and she said she'd validate my parking but the Boathouse staff is supposed to do it. All of this business not knowing who validates what, and/or if they are actually supposed to validate parking depending on where you drink or eat, are the main reasons for my 4 star rating. This should not be a difficult process for them if they want the business.

Beautiful hotel and extremely convenient to restaurants. Check-in took forever and once we got to the room, the TV did not work. We then went to try to get something sweet in the hotel and got a bunch of attitude from the waiter/bartender that we should just order room service. Overall, great looking hotel with perfect views of the lake, but lacking in service.

I didn't really go there but to meet some people. That being said, I have been to the Edgewater before. High class. Nice boathouse restaurant. Great views. Pricey, but what you expect from a higher end place.

Great place to stay when in Madison. Wonderful views of the Capital and the lake, depending on which side you stay on. Rooms are very quite and the beds is extremely comfortable. If your son or daughter is in one of the Greek houses on Langdon, this is the perfect location to stay. It is also walking distance from the Capitol with all the great bars and restaurants there. The bar in the Edgewater is also very cool, good place to hang out. I'm not a fan of the dining area for breakfast, a little too upscale for me.

I did not pay for services, but our event coordinator said significant errors occurred that had to be discussed with management. Fortunately staff was extra attentive after issues were addressed. This is a historical icon in Madison and was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Some of the rooms have picturesque lake views. Overall, staff is friendly, but could be more knowledgeable and prompt for an establishment of this caliber.

Beautiful setting and views. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms, at least in the Wisconsin section are large, modern and well furnished. Food and bar are very good also. The hotel received a 4 star rating from AAA in January of 2016, one of nine in the state and the only hotel in Madison and Dane County with a 4 star rating.

Fantastic hotel with a wonderful staff. The view of the lake is absolutely beautiful. Take the time to read the history of Madison on the walls. It's very interesting.

This was my first stay, and I was very impressed! The staff was polished and professional, right down to the valet. The building is elegant, and everything is of the highest quality: thick carpeting, solid doors, gleaming tile, and a very comfortable bed with plush linens. The king lakeview suite had an incredible view thanks to the floor to ceiling windows and a massive bathroom that was spotless! The only thing I would change is the in-room coffee — — modest quality with powdered creamer. But that is the only negative I could point out. The overall condition of the hotel is spectacular, with ZERO signs of wear and tear. I highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel was fantastic. I paid for a Lakeshore room which was really big with a huge bathroom, the biggest bed I've ever slept in and a beautiful view of lake monona. I proposed to my partner in the room and she thought it was a stunning way to do it. The hotel has a rooftop with stunning views that you can access if there are no meetings. The bar is friendly and well stocked. The reception staff were really nice when we told them about our engagement and offered us free gifts and said we should have told them prior for more! A perfect night in Madison.

We stayed here the night after we got married. The service was all around amazing. Good dinner and breakfast at the Statehouse. The room was clean and cozy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway in the Madison area.

Impressive! I have a lot of fun discovering multilevel passages, elevators and tunnels. I was very pleased with restaurant and bars. Stunning view from my room. I could open the window and hear the waves! One star missing, because room was very dusty … like nobody was living there for a month…

One thing is for sure… you cannot beat the view. The terrace at the Edgewater is a blank canvas for wonderful events. I've enjoyed bands here and arrived by both boat and car. Most recently I went to Oysterfest. I didn't arrive until about 6 (the event went from 4-9). It was fairly low key and the crowd was light enough that we easily found an open table. There wasn't a line for beer or oysters. We happily ordered some cold beers and sat down to relax before going back for oysters. Relaxing was difficult because the music they were playing was very loud and hard rock, As I looked around, there did not appear to be anyone enjoying the assault of this selection. We decided to move to another table to get as far away from the noise as we could, but that proved difficult given the volume it was played at. Feeling like it was truly not being enjoyed by anyone, I boldly sought out someone at one of the stands to plead with them to change the music. Just as I was approaching someone (turns out she didn't like it either although she had nothing to do with it and didn't know who did) the music stopped! I guess someone else found the right person. After that the atmosphere improved significantly. I have to wonder how long that music was paying and who thought it was fitting of the crowd and/or event? The music should be a quiet addition to the beautiful view and not the main event that has you scouring your purse for a pair of earplugs.

I live bear the Edgewater, so have never stayed overnight, but frequently use other services. I have a trended several conferences, all of which have been great. Fees for conferences are very reasonable compared to other comparable locations. I go to the spa frequently tly, and it is my go to spot downtown. Always very happy with the services. The Edgewater courtyard and coke is also one of my favorite public spots downtown to sit and take in the lake view.

Food was horrible. Raw chicken in chicken sandwich. The only thing worth ordering is the peel and eat shrimp. The calamari was the worst ever. Service was terrible… always had to go and get a waiter… too bad since the location on the water is great. They did nothing to make the bill right when we complained of the raw chicken.

Rooms were easy nice. Location was great. Hotel itself was very nice. Had dinner at the tavern. The food was very delicious. The room was spacious and lovely, but there was a stain on the comforter. The staff was courteous and professional but I would not call them friendly.

Ate at The Boathouse on a Friday night. We're able to be seated right away. It was gorgeous out. Service was great. Food was delicious. Cheese curds we're best I have had to date. Tilapia fish tacos were bursting with flavor. The chicken sandwich was made local bacon and with a spicy cheesy bun from Stellas. What a perfect place to get a WI lakefront experience.

This is a short walk to capital in a nice area near a beautiful park directly next to Lake Monona. Beautiful views. We ordered our room on expedia and ask to get a better view and they upgraded us for free overlooking lake. Friendly staff and shuttle service. Bar soap was so nice I brought one home.

Parked at their boat dock (free, awesome! ) and ended up going to the Statehouse for a burger since the Boathouse is closed on Mondays… The staff was friendly and the food was good. Took a little long to get our food but they had an issue in the kitchen which they informed us about. Appreciate the honesty. It's expensive, but the views of the lake are pretty killer and the food was good.

Beautiful hotel — inside and out! Elegant with activities available right outside. Love the Boathouse Restaurant which overlooks Lake Mendota. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed visiting with family on the sunny terrace overlooking the lake. This is our favorite hotel in Madison!

Attended a wedding at the Sky Bar. Beautiful location and view. Great service from bartender. Waitstaff kept buffet stocked and were attentive to guests. Overall a lovely location for a party.

My mother and her sister were able to book a relatively inexpensive room (about 150) after deciding it was too crowded to stay at my brother's place, since there were no events going on at the time. The bedrooms and bathrooms were luxurious, the view, right on the west lake, was beautiful, especially watching sunset from the attached restaurant, the Boathouse. They also have an outdoor bar on a pavilion facing the lake as well as other standard hotel amenities. Finally, it's an excellent location if you want to do anything downtown or at the college (the first frat house on fraternity row is the adjacent property).

Decided to stay here for a week while we visit our kids and we are very, very pleased with the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the property is amazing… We have a lake view room and the views are stunning! Big, well appointed rooms with comfortable beds and lots of amenities. Definitely will stay here again and I highly recommend it!

The room was clean and comfortable, the included Wi-Fi was fast, and the front desk staff and bartender at Augie's were very friendly. Although I had the thermostat set at 65, the room felt a bit warm, though not enough for me to call about it. However, I was disappointed with breakfast at the Statehouse. I don't know if they were busy with room service, but there were only about 4 other patrons in the restaurant, so it didn't feel busy. I stood at the entrance for a few minutes before anyone seated me, then I waited about 10 minutes to place my order (an omelet). It took about 20 minutes to receive my food, which was warm but not hot and looked like a plain omelet with the meat and veggies added as an afterthought, so they fell out when I cut into it. Then it took another 10-15 minutes to get the check. All told it took 55 minutes to get breakfast, putting me in a rush to get ready and get to my conference. If it weren't for the breakfast, I'd probably give a 5-star rating, and if I return, I'll definitely get a bagel from the coffee shop instead.

Stayed one night for our wedding anniversary. Excellent lake views, great service, cozy/comfortable room. Music was great — — live music regularly performed here (also great tunes in the lobby and other public areas). The cafe/coffee closes early but there's complimentary coffee self serve in your room. Breakfast was ok, expensive, nice selection, pick a cold dish ("hot" items were not).

I was there for one of the movie nights on the terrace. While I can't complain much since it was entirely free, including the popcorn, the speakers were up so loud that it was actually quite painful. Many people had to move away from the speakers. We ended up leaving a bit early to avoid hearing damage. Other than that, the location is quite beautiful on the water.

This is not a five diamond hotel. Understaffed front desk leading to long lines at check in; confusion among concierge, dining room & front desk staff related to brunch which was part of online booking; insufficient servers at the Boathouse on a Saturday night leaving us to serve ourselves; no maps/explanatory materials about the property in the rooms or at the concierge desk. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and well appointed. Each individaul person we encountered attempted to be helpful. We were asked about our stay when we left. The front desk person kindly waived our parking and amenity fees. I asked if there were f/u surveys done and she didn't know (there are). Instead, she gave me the manager's business card, and I sent him a personal e-mail after I did the online survey. A month after contacting the manager and filling out the survey I've heard nothing from anyone. Nope — not a five diamond hotel.

Arrived at our room around 3pm and turned the temperature to 65 degrees. After 6 hours our room was still 75+ degrees. Then when we tried to watch TV nothing worked. Called the front desk and were told no one would be available until midnight… I would suggest staying someplace else. Highly disappointed.

We went there to celebrate our anniversary and were treated like a king and queen! Our room was awesome and we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries as a complimentary gift! The bed was super comfortable and the room was quiet. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers at the Boathouse. The service was great! We hope to make this our hotel for future little getawats!

Room had a great view, event space was large and terrace was beautiful. Amenities and service were both splendid. Particularly large bathroom / shower.

Very clean accommodations, friendly staff, great bars, able to drink outside overlooking the lake. Breakfast at the Statehouse Resturant was too fancy and expensive for our tastes however. Awesome location — within walking distance to downtown Madison and shuttle provided within 2 miles (with a fee). Uber also services this area.

My first visit to the Edgewater was for a private party and the hotel lives up to the hype! The rooftop bar and lake views are stunning and the hotel's architecture and design are wonderful. I would love to stay there sometime!

Nicest hotel I've been in! Great food, comfy beds, and the shower was enormous! There was a mini fridge, and the TV selection had on demand movies for purchase. There was also a selection for ambient music and photos if (like me) you like to fall asleep with the TV on. Nice staff. Hotel is on a lake too, so the view is beautiful. Really great experience!

My friends and I like going to the statehouse at the Edgewater for drinks and sometimes dinner. It's a bit more mellow than other places downtown, and you can actually talk, which is nice. Their food is always pretty tasty. Drinks are often a toss-up: amazing when certain bartenders make them, and pretty gross other times. It seems like they don't make their bartenders measure out every drink they make, which they really need to start doing. That one change would probably make us go there a lot more often.

The Edgewater was a delightful stay for us for our first weekend visit to Madison — I was even able to get a lake view since I was there for my birthday. The room was clean, the front desk was quickly responsive, and it was a great stay. Although it was great, I was charged an 18$ parking fee solely because I had to park in their garage for all of twenty minutes to get my room situated, and the employee (I failed to remember his name) was rather rude when discussing this over the phone later to get it reimbursed to me. So fair warning: don't park in the garage unless you're planning to stay parked there overnight.

The Edgewater Spa is out of this world! It seriously CANNOT be topped in Madison. I had a facial and it was hands down the most relaxing, rejuvenating spa experience of my life. Karen was wonderful, and extremely knowledgeable about skin care. The Edgewater goes above and beyond in so many ways, and the spa is just one example of their incredible hospitality and class. You can see the care they put into every detail. Plus, you can't beat the amazing views of the water! Highly recommend this spa. I only wish I could go back in time and have my wedding prep done here!

The gentleman at the front desk, Steve, was so hospitable. I travel for work and have rarely had the pleasure of being greeted by such a friendly and gracious person. He was kind and professional to each guest. Very much appreciated. The view from my room is specular too!

Fabulous experience. My husband and I are on a road trip bringing our daughter to college. He and I stumbled into this gem of a place. For the past two nights we have been staying in hotels with hard mattress with no forgiveness in cushion. After two days of aching backs and necks we decided to use the app on our phone to find a place where we could get a better nights sleep. What a pleasant surprise the Edgewater turned out to be. I asked for a room with a waterview. Michael who was courteous and accommodating made us feel wonderfully welcomed as sojourners far from home. We got the free upgrade (I am guessing because it was late at night and the availability was there) Our room had floor to ceiling window view of a gorgeous lake and dock. So romantic! Just what these new "empty nesters" needed to rekindle some forgotten romance as we leave our daughter at Wheaton college. Wonderfully comfortable room and bed gave us a restful and restorative nights sleep. Decadent sophisticated bathroom with marble and custom shower stall was a great experience. I must also mention that the view of the capital building was spectacular as we arrived at midnight. This is our first visit in our lives to Madison Wisconsin. Can't wait to come again and see more of the beautiful city. The Edgewater well exceded our expectations and we are well satisfied.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel right on the lake. We stayed in a lakefront room and it was PERFECT! The things I liked most were: The views of the lake were gorgeous, the bed was very comfortable and I loved having lots of pillows, everything was very clean and the room was spacious. The bathroom was fantastic! There is a separate large soaking tub and large walk-in shower. I LOVED that the provided a real makeup mirror with magnifying ability and a real hair dryer. Cozy white robes are also provided, There is a big flat screen television and THE VIEW! The few things that were a little off for me were: The hotel was a bit difficult to navigate at first. There are two separate buildings that are connected via a tunnel on floor 3. The relaxation pool was pretty but the water was not hot enough. We did the self-park in the hotel garage overnight parking ($18 per night), and figured out that the door into the hotel is on the fourth floor of the Wisconsin Building, which is just a hallway of guest rooms with no directions as you walk in as to where to go for the reception/lobby. We enjoyed drinks at the outside at the Boathouse and all of the staff were friendly and attentive. We had breakfast at The Statehouse restaurant and it was lovely! Again, the view was sweet. The food was delicious as well. Our stay was too short and I hope to visit again some day soon. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to going back.

Took my wife to the Edgewater to celebrate our 3 year anniversary with live piano music overlooking the lake. I waited 15 minutes at the bar to make an order. The bartender walked towards me twice, never once acknowledged me. I left without being able to order a drink. What a way to ruin an anniversary celebration!

The Edgewater has amazing views of the lake. If rating the hotel on views alone, this would be 5/5 stars. BUT… given the cost of staying at the Edgewater, and staying in a nice lakeview room, this hotel fails on many fronts. Expensive hotels all have one thing in common, beyond a nice view of something, and that one thing is attention to detail. Otherwise, why not just stay at your friendly hometown Hyatt for $150+ less a night? THIS is what the Edgewater is severely lacking — attention to detail. For instance, when housekeeping comes into your room to change the towels and adjust the sheets on the bed, if they see an empty plate from room service and some empty glasses, placed conveniently on the desk, if that housekeeper had an attention to detail — they would remove the plates and glasses. Not so at the Edgewater, instead housekeeping leaves those plates and glasses, which forces the people in the room to call the front desk. Sounds simple, right? Don't complain, all you had to do was call the front desk. Well, except then the front desk phone rings 15 times and when the person answers, instead of having an attention to detail, upon listening to what you need, and sending someone up to remove the plates/glasses, they tell you that they are going to transfer you to room service… that is a lack of attention to detail.

Extremely disappointing stay 4/4/15. I was in Madison for the week for work, and on Friday my fiancee came to join me for a relaxing evening and night out. I chose the Edgewater because it seemed modern and comfortable. Check-in went fine, and our Premium Lakeview King room (and I use the word room very loosely in retrospect) looked very nice when we arrived. The issue arose that night while we were asleep. The room had a set of doors which open inward to a faux balcony (just a railing outside the doors) which when we arrived we thought were very nice. Around 3 in the morning, the wind of the lake picked up a bit, and the doors blew open. I got up thinking I hadn't closed and locked them properly. No such luck. The door latch wouldn't stay closed, and the deadbolt wouldn't move. The wind made the room extremely cold, and made an obnoxiously loud howling noise rushing through the room and out through the crack under our door to the hotel hallway. Needless to say, it was uncomfortable, and not at all the relaxing experience we were looking for. We really didn't want to move rooms at that hour, and decided to bring it up when we checked out in a few hours. Here is where I'm most disappointed. The girl at the desk for checkout wasn't able to do much, which I understood, she said she would pass it along and we would be contacted. Which resulted in our $20 parking being comped. Great. But seriously, for $200, I expect my room to be. A room.

The facilities of the Edgewater are beautiful. It is apparent that there was money spent on creating a classy environment. However, there are 3 reasons why I was disappointed in my stay this past weekend. First, the temperature of the "relaxation spa" water was tepid. My friend and I literally had 3 towels covering our bodies after we went into this water. It definitely was not the temperature of a conventional spa. Secondly, I did not have hot water this morning for my shower. I ran the faucet for a full 5 minutes, and then ended up taking a shower with mildly luke-warm water. Lastly, we ordered 2 drinks in the bar before dinner — — (Stella beer and non-oak Chardonnay) and was charged $15, Then for a nightcap, ordered the same wine (non-oak Chardonnay) and a miller lite and was charged $21. When I asked the bartender why there was a discrepancy, he smugly, almost in a snippy way, said I was given the wrong wine before dinner and that the non-oak chardonnay was $14/glass. Really? I find his demeanor insulting and certainly not patron-oriented. Three disappointing experiences leaves me wondering! Cathleen P.

Verry disappointed. I had a lunch at the Statehouse in the Restaurant Week, and it was one of the worst one ever. == Service: 0 star I wonder how my server could provide "perfectly" terrible service: — more than 5 minutes in waiting for making orders, — also very long waiting between meals, — not serving wine until the middle of the main course (until we asked her), — quick, prefunctory questioning "how is the meal? " and — no smile at all I've heard and read about poor service of this restaurant but thought that those reviews were a few, unusual cases. But, I experienced how the a-penny-worth service look like in the Statehouse, and literally left a penny on the bill, first time in my life and hopefully the last. == Food: 2 stars Overall, the meal was okay. It was a fancy meal with some compromise, using bacon instead of lardons.

Absolutely beautiful hotel right on the lake. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Langdon Studio Suite, and the room was amazing. Pros: The views of the lake were breathtaking, the bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean. The bathroom was one of our favorite parts on this room — separate tub and beautiful walk-in shower. Just remember to have the curtains in the bathroom closed before you get in the tub! ;) Comfy robe, excellent flat screen tv, great little eating area, plenty of mirrors in the bathroom and right outside the bathroom. Plenty of space to put your things away. Plenty of kitchen amenities if you have groceries and plan on making your own meals. I have lots of good things to say about the Hotel. Cons that are important to note: The hotel, in general, is a bit of a maze. There are two separate buildings that are connected via a tunnel on floor 3. The receptionist told us that so we didn't have any problems, but if we hadn't received instructions, we would have definitely gotten lost. Also, if you choose to self-park in the overnight parking ($18 per night), the door into the hotel is on the fourth floor of the Wisconsin Building, which is just a hallway of guest rooms with no directions as you walk in as to where to go for the reception/lobby. Common sense took us to the elevator which has a guide to the floors showing where reception is, but I do fear for those lacking in common sense.

Go for the view. The new Edgewater is beautiful with magnificent views of the lake. (Best view in town). I'm thrilled they have outdoor dining! Having been a frequent diner at the old Edgewater — I had high expectations of Edgewater's Statehouse food and service. My Bloody Mary was great, my Coffee was great. However, the food was disappointing and the service was just okay. Let's just say I ate my breakfast because I was starving. I watched another guest at another table send her meal back and reorder another meal. I'm optimistic the new Edgewater will work out the kinks in their kitchen. I will give it another go for lunch or dinner. As I said the view is magnificent! I'd go back for the view and a cocktail. As a side note. The Parking garage is misleading. Edgewater needs to install signage of where one is to park. (3 Stars were given for their food).

Gorgeous hotel with an amazing view. You can hear the waves from the lake its so relaxing. Highly recommend staying here.

The new Statehouse is outstanding, with probably the best views in the entire city. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. My cocktail was made to order with a Wisconsin fave: Death's Door gin. And my guest, a renowned foodie, raved about the creamed corn. All around, a fantastic experience. Kudos to the Edgewater on a superb renovation.
