We have stayed at this location twice for volleyball tournaments. Both times it has been a great experience. The rooms are clean, the staff is so friendly and helpful. This is where we will stay every time we need a hotel in the Cedar Rapids area.

Very nice hotel! I also appreciate them helping out of state lineman and NOT raising their rates! They even provide snacks and breakfast grab bags for the linemen.

Cheaply decorated rooms. Very plain and ugly. Expected much more for the price point.

I have enjoyed each stay at this hotel. They have updated it and it is comfortable. The food can be hit or miss, but that happens when you don't have a kitchen.

Very clean hotel. The breakfast was pretty good. The elevator was not working was my only issue with my stay but I believe it was fixed as we were checking out.

Hotel is nice and I recommend staying here. Only got 3 stars for the following reasons: bath tub was too slippery and sloped, shower curtain was not effective, pillows are lumpy, beds were worn and sagging. Other than those items the rooms have nice modern furniture with plenty of outlets and the staff was very friendly.

Nicest hotel I've been in for a long time. The water in the pool got up my nose and really hurt though. Be careful.

Pleased so far with our long weekend stay during State baseball tournament. The manager has been great to us and all of our baseball players. Allowed us to have team pizza dinners in the breakfast room and allowing our team parties in the pool patio. While they experienced some staffing issues, the manager remained calm and helpful. Rooms were very clean and amenities available. Had great breakfast options as well. Wish they had free weights in the fitness room though.

It's OK, nothing special. Average breakfast. Rooms are clean. Pool. No hot tub. But honestly, if you want the Four Seasons, than pay 400 bucks a night and go there.

I don't consider myself really picky about hotels. As long as it's clean and has Wi-Fi, I'm usually good, especially when traveling alone. But part of that "clean" requirement is that I usually check the beds for anything out of sorts and 99% of the time I never find anything to be concerned about, but when I stayed here I found a syringe under the mattress. To be fair, guests will do all kinds of gross things in rooms and perhaps it's too much to ask of the cleaning people to check for every crazy thing they might do; I don't know. I did end up getting a different room and a free night for a later stay (yay? ). Being on business travel with a lot to do I didn't push it any harder, but I can't say I'll be back. The staff was friendly and they had a decent breakfast selection.

Room was nice and large. Window has an electric blackout curtain — but the one in our room seemed to be installed incorrectly since there is a gap between it and the wall where sunshine pours right into your eyes when you are laying in the bed!

Stayed there a few days while visiting family. It has easy access, conveniently located close to highways. The breakfast was great. Rooms were clean and all of the staff were friendly and professional.

I stayed for one night in January 2018. This is a new (er) hotel in a great location for visiting Rockwell Collins. It is north of downtown Cedar Rapids, so not the best location if you want to be near the city center.

The rate at this hotel was more than Elkridge, MD which is just outside of Baltimore on the east coast. They slide in fees for Occupancy tax of $8.05 on top of the accommodation free of $115. How do I get one without the other? I see rates on line of $95. I wanted that room which was still too high. Stayed here for the rewards but make no mistake it is not rewarding as they try to make up in higher prices that would not offset any free nights to be earned. Sort of a ripoff. There was also a $2 local option fee. Please share all fees up front and do not back load. The room was ok but expected a Butler for this price.

Great place overall. Love the room set-ups. Although we should work better on customer service. The front desk lady was too busy flirting with guys by the swimming pool while we waited to get checked in for five minutes.

I’ll start with the good: SUPER friendly staff, clean rooms, reasonable price. Not so good uncles: poorly sound insulated in all ways. In room 211 I could literally hear one of the neighbors pressing the buttons on a microwave. I heard every toilet flush, every hallway conversation, etc. I am an early riser, and in the morning did not feel comfortable turning on the TV as a courtesy to the other patrons. Bathroom was poorly lit, with hardly enough light to shave. I can’t imagine my poor wife trying to do her makeup. There is a pool, but the hot tub has been closed and filled in.

Good staff, updated rooms and nice amenities. Exactly what you would expect from a holiday inn express. Had a really great stay at a good rate. Definitely recommend! Great location for business too.

First time staying here. We asked for early check in at booking since we drove 4 hours and needed to get ready for a wedding. Our rooms weren’t ready. We were told they would be ready in 20 minutes. Meanwhile, our other family members who called that morning were able to check right in early. We approached the desk after 20 minutes and were told one room would be ready in 10 more minutes. When we asked the status again after 10 minutes our room still wasn’t ready. The two young women at the front desk never offered any apology, and were frequently not at the desk but instead eating in the back. Then when my husband asked again after waiting 45 minutes we were told that they were at capacity the night before and if we would have called in addition to already asking for an early check in they may have gotten to it faster. We were given one room to start getting ready in while the other room was being cleaned, and while in our room a housekeeper entered our room without knocking or announcing themselves. The housekeepers in the hall were VERY loud. Later that night we needed to get a new key for one of the rooms and the evening desk employee was very rude to my daughter when she asked for a new key. She was asked her room number, which she gave. Then asked the name that the reservation was under and then the employee commented that “well you’re only here one night”. Doesn’t mean that you don’t need a functioning key!

Spacious room and comfortable stay. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of food options. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate available all day. Indoor pool.

I enjoy to stay here each time I'm in town for work. The staff is friendly and house keeping does a great job. I also really enjoy the food. The rooms are always clean and well kept. The bed is comfortable enough.

Good visit. The room was really clean and modern. The staff was very nice and informative. Pool was closed do to maintenance so that was a bummer. Parking was nice and made unloading very easy. Breakfast was good and had a decent spread.

Upgrade from the next door Marriott. Updated, modern rooms. In-room fridge is a nice touch, but a little loud. Continental breakfast makes things easier with a busy schedule. Their cinnamon rolls rock!

I have stayed here before and was good. However this last visit they had a front desk person who did not know to give points for HI member for no house cleaning. Also the fitness center was dirty and had to call for towels. Don't know if I would go back to this one.

Been here since Sunday, leaving on Thursday had a great experience, the staff and everyone was kind and helpful, we are from Michigan and travel alot always stay at the Holiday Inn Express, always will. Thank you to all the staff here at Iowa.

Let's start with the horrible chlorine smell the moment you walk in the lobby and which continued to smell in our room. The tile floor when I opened the door to the room had something on it making it slippery causing me to almost fall. Grabbed a towel to clean it up, and the towel was black from the unclean floor. When we wanted to shower we could not get the shower to work, when we tried calling the front desk, the phone did not work. When we checked to see if the phone was plugged in, we found empty water bottles under the bed. So we had to go down to the front desk to get them to come and fix it. Breakfast was not very good. On our way out we tried to get some ice out of the ice maker, but shockingly that was broke also!
They did offer to refund our room.

Room was comfortable. Plenty of food options for breakfast.

The hotel staff are very nice and the rooms I've had during my stay here gave all been comfortable.

Waited two hours after check in time to get into the room due the door having to have it's lock replaced. Hide matress had stains on it and was unmade. Otherwise average motel.

Nice enough. Spire status but wasn't upgraded. Was told the room cost more than it showed online.

Awesome staff! Very nice and polite and were very accommodating. The pool is pretty big along with a hot tub. The breakfast is amazing for an express breakfast! Eggs sausage pancakes French toast sticks biscuits yogurt cereal toast bagels cinnamon rolls! Wow! Will definitely stay here again!

Hotel is awesome and clean! Staff went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed! Pool area is nice and the breakfast is wonderful!

Hotel is fine as far as mid-level hotels go. But beware booking. If you accidentally book something incorrectly, there is absolutely no willingness on the part of hotel management nor IHG customer service to help get things straightened out. I thought I was making a reservation only, but had apparently booked a pre-paid rate — no refunds, no changes, no way no how. I could not get the desk nor customer service to modify down to government rate, so I will be eating the difference out of my own pocket. My error, sure, and so I'll suffer the consequences, but the complete intransigence on their part ensures that I will use this chain absolutely only in an emergency for all travel in the future. Too bad, because I chose this hotel *because* of their government rate program.
