Review of Motel 6-Pekin, IL 2*

Where to begin. I booked my room severalMonths in advance of my stay there. I had stayed at this motel previously and it was not in as bad of shape as it was this past weekend. The pool was closed down by the health department. The front desk had told us at check in, on Thursday, that it should be open by Saturday morning. Then another worker told me it wasn’t planned on being open for some time due to it being shut down by the health department. My room was clean, but there were some issues. The air conditioning filter was disgusting with about a quarter inch of dark grey fuzz, some of which looked to include pet hairs as well. It hardly worked as well, and when brought to staffs attention was told those rooms run warmer because they’re in the sun all day. The toilet seat was not secure and every time I did my morning duties I almost fell Off of the toilet. The shower did not drain. If I didn’t take a 3 minute shower I would end up calf deep! The fridge leaked and there was a puddle of water in the bottom. Outside around the pool fence there were random holes, one of which my small child got his leg stuck in. Thank god he wasn’t hurt. There were also these pipes or drains sticking out of the ground next to the sidewalk on the interior of the motel. They looked disgusting inside and had flies buzzing around. I don’t think this is an employee/staff issue, I believe this is an owner issue. The place is slowly starting to fallApart. Maintenance needs to be done regularly! I amVery disappointed with my stay here and so are the dozen other people that shared the motel.
