I have stayed here long-term for a month in June, and I came back in September to stay about a week. All the faculty I had good experiences with until recently. The accommodations are plain but they work. A TV with cable, Wi-Fi (which doesn't work have the time) and the beds are clean, except for the occasional cigarette burn. It's a great place if you're just looking for basic accommodations and to lay your head down for the night. You don't get your own coffee machine, and the only microwave and ice machine are in the front lobby. They lock off part of the lobby, so you can't use the microwave after 10, or 11 on weekends. It's one of the cheapest motels in St. Charles, although the weekend rate is almost $80 a night. One of the staff members, Jamie, goes above and beyond and gave me the "regular's discount" for $50 a night, even on weekends. You can also get a whole week for a little over $300 when you calculate tax. However, starting a few weeks ago their Wi-Fi pretty much stopped working unless you are sitting directly inside the motel's lobby. I work from home at my computer and have to upload time-sensitive documents as part of my job. I bought a mifi device to use in the motel in cases where their Wi-Fi was crappy. Well, the mifi device was acting up, and I kept having to restart it to get it to work. I went up to the front at about 9 p. M. And the inside lobby was supposed to be open until 11. AN older woman named Mary was working, and she has been very pleasant and helpful up until this point. I got very frustrated because I couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work in the side room and ALL I DID was ask her why the door was locked early. She responded, and I quote, "It's none of your damned business why this door is locked. It's the company's business. I have no idea why you can't connect to the Internet out there. " I said I didn't know either, but that it wasn't working. I also told her there were no plugs to plug in my laptop, and that it was about to die. I was very upset and on the verge of tears because I needed to upload those documents for my job soon. She let me in, making snide, rude remarks the whole way. While I was sitting using the Wi-Fi, she straight-up told me no one else was having trouble with the Wi-Fi, which is a straight up LIE. I have been in the lobby many times when someone has come in and complained about the connection, asked to switch rooms to a better connection, and ALL other staff have agreed with me that the Wi-Fi is terrible outside the lobby. She then told me if I didn't like how I was being treated I could leave. I was very upset but didn't want to start anything, so I just left without saying anything. I went down front the next morning to pay for another day only to find that the rhymes-with-witch had put me on the do-not-rent list. I have done NOTHING WRONG except ask why the door was locked! I heard she was quitting soon and just did not care who she was rude to, and that there have been other complaints about her rudeness as well. There was not even a reason I was added to the list. I already intended to call the management and tell them of how I was treated, but now I have to call them and argue my case if I ever want a room here again. I guess I'll take her advice and go to a motel that actually cares about being polite and fair to its customers.
