First things first. On the website it states KIDS STAY FREE. Which was one of the main reasons we chose to stay there for a week. After being in the room for a couple hours saw a handful of roaches in drawers and bathroom. Sheets weren’t clean, neither were the towels, and the room smelled horrible. We asked for a refund and they refused. But switched us to a different room. They then noticed our kids. Said they cannot stay there unless we pay an extra $25 per kid per night. After their website said kids stay free. Eventually after lots of fussing we got a refund but they still charged us for a night even though we were only there for a few hours. Would give 0 stars. Horrible staff that barely speak English. And we’re not reasonable considering the fact their hotel room was disgusting.

Interesting, rustic motel. In it's heyday, this was a very classy place. In 2018 there are a few issues. Pluses: The room was clean, plenty of towels. Interesting brick wall inside. Places to hang things, power outlets to plug things in. Keycards work. TV with cable and HBO. The wooden shutters block out all light which is nice. Room 5 was quiet. Minuses: There is a stone material ledge in the sink that one can hit their forehead on while washing their face. The showerhead was leaking and shooting water towards the curtain. Hot water pressure not so great. Power strip to plug things into, kind of disorganized. TV with standard definition but that's most motels these days. On 2nd day, came back late and the room had not been made up, no towels. We went to the office, nobody there, but my spouse noticed someone had been pushing a laundry hamper towards the far end of the rooms. We rang the bell and yelled "hello" many times. Someone just up the stairs was having an animated conversation and would stop and start but never came down. We walked to the housekeeping room with hope that someone was there. A woman came out and we explained the issue of no towels. She apologized and said she was catching up and missed "the stayovers". Which I guess was us since we stayed more than one night. She brought us towels, that was nice and I felt like she owned the situation and made it right. There seem to be people that live there.

Awful. Non smoking room stunk of smoke. Ashes on the bathroom floor. Shower goes from cold to scorching with no warning. Would rather have sleep in my car. Sadly I cant give negative stars.

Bed bugs in room. Breakfast sucks. We stayed there for 4 days and got bit up by bed bugs… It was so horrible. Told the manager and he was rude about it as if it was our fault. Not fair. Wanted a refund he wouldn't give it. Ghetto ass room service. Just not cool at all. Stay away from this hotel or you will be next…

Nasty bed bugs had to go to doctor because it was so bad. Stay away this is your first warning.

Booked a room for two nights. First night goes smoothly other than the fact that our keys wouldn’t work at our original room so they had to give us a second one. Second night we come home at 1:30 a. M to our keys not working and we have no where to sleep for the rest of the night because they also wouldn’t pick up their phone. When we ask for a refund the lady says “you could have rang the doorbell I was up” even though the other woman who had checked us in never explained anything about what to do if your key stopped working (even though it seems to happen often since ours wouldn’t work 4 times throughout this weekend). Crappy place. Don’t do it.

Well unfortunately if you are a non-smoker I can't give this a great review. The room was quite tidy and was impressed at that. It seems smoking happens even in the non-smoking rooms though, which made it tough to sleep at night : (

This place is so disgusting. The bathroom was definitely not clean. As soon as I walked into the room a cockroach passed by me. The rooms smell.

This place is a joke. I booked a room back in the middle of August for the end of September and they charged me twice. I've called and called and called them about it only to continue to get the run around and nobody ever calls me back. They continue to say that they will have their manager look into it or call me yet it's never happened. I don't know what is wrong with the management of this place but it's obviously piss poor. I never leave bad reviews but this takes the cake. I would give zero stars if I could.

Hooker heaven hotel as of 8-30-17 and before that 2 ladies in room 10 who are nasty ass hookers 1 is younger other is like 50 hookers make the hotel look bad.

If you read no further, just know this place has BED BUGS. I stayed here because I was driving home from the solar eclipse and every other hotel between Metropolis and Chicago was booked out. When we arrived there were a lot of people loitering in the parking lot and the stairwells. It felt unsafe and as if there were some drug problems in the building. We struggled to find our room because one of the numbers had fallen off of the door. Once inside, the room was a total dump. It felt very dusty and dirty, there were bugs crawling out of the sink, the bathroom door had a hole cut out of it, and the room was full of cigarette burns. We were exhausted from driving so we stayed anyway. When I woke up in the morning we packed up and got out of there as fast as possible. The pool on site was empty and full of trash, we could smell it as we were packing up the car. While driving home I noticed my arm had bed bugs bites on it. I called the hotel to inform them and they told me the manager would call me back (he didnt). I eventually was able to get ahold of him a day later and he was immediately confrontational and very difficult to understand. You couldn't pay me to stay at this place again. This place absolutely has bed bugs and I have read other reviews claiming the same thing. Stay at your own risk.

While I have loved the new carpets and room fixtures, it was bizarre to never have my room cleaned, not get amenities refreshed, or even enough toilet paper. The pool on the premises is empty, but a gathering for fetid water, and trash that people have thrown in it. It's begging for mosquitoes to gather.

Very disappointing continental breakfast. Donuts came out of a hostess box. 2 kinds of cereal were mixed. Definitely not the kind of breakfast that a room costing 90.00 should offer. Have had better offering for lower rate. Room also had a musty smell. You could hear the room next to your flush their toilet also. Very disappointing experience.

First off the hotel was only $68. However I've stayed in a lot of hotels under $70 so I understand good and cheapo rooms I don't understand how this place is still in business really. The night receptionist was asleep when I showed up. I had to call twice to get an answer. I paid extra for the "suite". I guess it was a suite because it had a desk? Or possibly because it had a fridge and microwave. The bathrooms are pretty disgusting. The shower's water pressure was barely a drizzle. The towels were basically thin sandpaper. The worst part had to be the owners though. I got up the next morning and the two towels that are provided had been used so I went down to ask for 2 more. The owners were very Chinese and barely spoke English. When I asked for towels she told me that I would have to wait til 11 when the housekeeping crew showed up. So I asked when checkout is. Owner: 11. Me: Okay? Can I get a late check out? Owner: $5. I tried to explain that this logic was ridiculous but there was really no point. So I just waited for the housekeeper to show up and then I got towels from him. We had a nice conversation so he was really the only good part about the place. If you just need a cheap hotel there are other options. Avoid this one.

Room was clean but everything in the building felt old and overly used. Front desk staff were all very nice.

Never stay here. Old and dilapidated. Its price should be 30$/night, but they charge too much. Management staff is so bad. The negative comments others have posted are so true.

The place is pretty old. Room is dirty, linen is dirty, bathroom is not cleaned properly. Breakfast is NOT provided; I came at 8:40 am and the only things I found was coffee, corn flakes and cheerios, but no milk. And nobody was there to answer my questions. I went to the nearest cafe instead. However location is great and the price is reasonably low; that's why I give 1 star, not 0.

Nice room, very fast wireless internet, antic mood. since bug net on windows in my room was broken, sometimes I found flies. Anyway, generally the motel was good.

If you want to stay at a hotel populated by prostitutes, drug dealers, and drug addicts, then this is the place for you!

Never go to this hotel, long explaination and fraud complaint pending. PLEASE READ I am attending U of I in Urbana this fall, so me and my wife traveled from North Carolina to visit the campus before we moved. We wanted to save a bit of money so we tried this lodge. 66 dollars? a fair price for a room we thought, however when we pulled in our cars there were people who were just loitering about and seemed to live in the hotel long term. Enough of them just stared at us as we pulled up to make us think twice about the safety of our two car caravan's supplies. We said, well we will just be careful, lets check inside the room. It stank. It smelled like something had died in there, and we had the "no smoking" option. At this point we decided to ask for a refund and stay at the super 8 up the road. — — We went back in after leaving the room abruptly but the front desk girl couldn't refund our money because it was a visa charge. We left a note for the manager that we would be comming in the morning and spent the night at the super 8. We made sure that our leaving had been annotated in the hotel logbook. We arrived next morning at 9 AM and met with the manager. He produced a folder when he realized who we were, we thought that was odd… he pulled out our receipts and asked if we had signed them, we said yes but we left the hotel because it stank and had shifty people hanging around. He then pulled out pictures of our room. THIS IS GREAT!
