There was a problem with the ceiling in our bathroom, so they had us go to the Holiday Inn Express which was about 15 minutes away and gave us a suite for free, everyone was very nice and helped us with anything we needed even said we can call anyone anywhere free of charge, even told us if our room at the other hotel wasn't ready we could stay pass check out time, till our room was ready.

My husband and I chose the Holiday Inn in Carbondale to host our out of town guests for our wedding in May and a Social Hour between our wedding and reception. We were very pleased with the level of service and friendliness that our guests received! Every step from setting up the room block, designing our guest accommodations and handing out guest bags was executed perfectly and efficiently! I highly recommend this hotel and its staff!

I was on the second floor and was very quiet. Reception was friendly (Matt I believe his name). Checkout was a breeze and the beds were super comfy!

They were very accommodating. Nice bar pub attached. Rooms are spotless. My first choice in Carbondale.

Rooms are very nice and clean. Easy access with lots of shopping and food options nearby. Only problem was with tax exempt.

Very nice hotel. Clean and modern. No complaints, except that I do wish all Holiday Inns would end their love affair with plastic and styrofoam — and offer recycling. It has a nice little indoor pool with an adjoining outdoor area where you can sit outside.

I stayed for over 2 weeks. Reception staff really nice and helpful with local information and even switched my room to one with a tub. I gave 3stars because of housekeeping. When I moved in there were visible strands of long dark hair on the bathroom floor so clearly, bathroom was not swept. Everyday cleaning involved the bed being made as shown in the picture, sometimes not even made because of "personal item" left on bed when there was clearly nothing left on the bed. They also played hide and seek with bathroom floor mat and emptying my trash. Sometimes trash from the room was left in the bathroom. A one-off incident and you could overlook it, this was everyday. The housekeeping staff need to improve on their role.

The hotel rooms were good. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to go up and down the elevators! It appears that they are trying to set a record for the slowest elevator ride in the Midwest.

Horrible customer service. We arrived for a 40th bday weekend with 3 couples. One of the couples were informed they were being moved to the Super 8 down the road due to maintenance issues. We only had one vehicle for all 3 couples so this was not going to work. We asked if we could all be moved to the Super 8 and they said no because it was 3 separate reservations. Well yes because we all booked our own rooms! They took $60 off one of the rooms and 2 of the couples had to share a room which was not ideal considering it was a couples getaway. Elevators reeked of marijuana. For 165 a night I expected more. No breakfast even provided or offered for our inconvenience. Holiday Inn has lost my business.

Clean room. No smell of smoke is very important. Bed was comfortable. Only downside is there is no provided breakfast but FatBottomBetty right next door is reasonably priced and the sausage is great.

Great food, service, prices and atmosphere if you like Rock & Roll.

Wonderful place but if you want a bathtub make sure you ask for one the people there were so nice n helpful We will Definitely have to go back.

Very Nice Hotel. Beautiful rooms. Only they could have saved the money not using power flush toilets, and upgraded the quality of their sleeper sofas in the rooms. Very thin cushions hard seating.

The location is ideal. Their bar/lounge is very nice. Service is terrific. I love this place!

I am there on business 1 day every week it's so nice to walk In and they remember me. The front desk clerks are always smiling and ready to help me. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I refuse to stay anywhere else.

The hotel was very clean and very accommodating. All the rooms and hallways smelled fresh and the bathrooms were very clean. We had a mini fridge and microwave in our standard room, which is always a nice plus. Overall very nice stay, would definitely reserve rooms here again.

Had great service at Fat Bottom Betty restaurant at the hotel. Every one was nice and wonderful!

The rooms have bugs and staff is friendly for the most part. Housekeeping did a great job not to break or touch anything when I stayed for a few days. Biggest issue was the bugs and one housekeeper was very rude.

Walking in, the desk staff was very friendly. The lobby looks very modern and updated. The rooms were large and very clean. The bathroom had a large shower and double sinks which was great for getting ready. The room needed a little updating. I would definitely stay there again.

Clean and nice rooms. Free breakfast at the attached Fat Bottom Bettie's restaurant which becomes a bar with good pizza at night. Quiet rooms due to being up from the highway. Great staff. As nice as a Holiday Inn Express. See photos…

The Restaurant attached to rhis hotel is very good. Food was good great atmosphere and gpos staff. Definately worth a stop.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Restaurant next door was very friendly and enjoyed treating my kiddos special. Room very clean and spacious. Definitely a great start to a vacation for us.

Close to SIUC campus. Despite being at capacity staff consistently, pleasantly accommodated requests. Well run hotel with exceptional employees.

My experience at this holiday inn was awful. They put me in a smoking room when I specifically requested a non smoking. The staff was very rude and unhelpful. I will never return to this location. Very disappointed.

I enjoyed my 2 night stay. The staff was polite. Check in/out was super easy. The room was immaculate and the bed was fantastic. My only complaint is the ac unit. I am a very hot sleeper and always sleep with a fan. The ac unit has the option to run the fan continuously but only the fan. When I turned it on cool, the unit would stay on less than a minute and completely shut off no matter how low I set the temperature. I would really like to see hotels give the option for a box fan as an iminity as I know a lot of people who sleep with fans and don't want to pack one with them on business trips like me. They are cheap and can easily fit in the closet.

Very clean and quiet. Some of front desk staff could learn to acknowledge customers as they come and go. There was one African American gentleman that was very polite and provided EXCELLENT customer service.

I wish the fitness center was better.

Anyone who thinks Marion's Holiday Inn is better, is wrong! The Holiday Inn Conference Center in Carbondale is the nicest hotel in Southern Illinois. It is clean, and they have amazing staff. I would know. I've stayed there with my fiance over 40 nights since February and have 3 reservations upcoming.

Tryed calling twice. No one answered the phone. Come on people.

Nice hotel, very clean. They could do some improvement on decorating the rooms because there is empty wasted space in the rooms.

Over priced, given the available facilities and amenities. For example, the breakfast here is not free and you have to sit in a tacky seafood casino/bar to get it. VERY DISAPPOINTING! The Holiday Inn Express in Marion is much better all around.

Be warned: their new online reservation system makes no sense. We were given an endless hassle by the management upon attempting to check in on Christmas. The reservation had been made online a month in advance, and although we had gotten a total cost and a receipt online, suggesting that the room had been charged, we didn't learn until we arrived that we couldn't check in unless we brought the credit card used to reserve the room. Not for incidentals — for the entire price of the room. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website, so of course we did not have the card nor did we have any other card on hand with enough balance. The management was extremely unhelpful and was forcing their young and unfortunate employee to handle us alone, which helped no one because she had no power to help us. Eventually (after our insistence that the absent manager speak to us directly on the phone) we were checked in. The aforementioned young employee, Katie, was as helpful as she could be and handled the middleman position wonderfully. Another young employee told us that this confusion happens all the time due to the new system, which made it even more ridiculous that the management would make us struggle for an hour to get checked in.

This hotel is very upscale and attractive in every way. The room is new, clean and modern and the bed is super comfortable. The staff did a great job especially the restaurant staff at Houlihans (the attached restaurant). The restaurant and bar is very busy but service did not suffer. The morning server for breakfast (Jodee) is always upbeat and remembers me. I did not use the pool or fitness center but they both looked great. The SIU Campus is just down the road.

The room was nice enough but the lobby and elevators were not air conditioned and the coffee was AWFUL, both in the room and in the lobby. I have never had worse coffee in my life! Staff was very friendly and helpful, but this is an expensive hotel for an average experience.

This hotel looks nice from a distance, but get a little closer and you will find, as I did, that it is very poorly constructed. The worst problem is a total lack of sound proofing due to paper thin walls, seemingly made of cardboard. I could not help but hear a very personal argument between my neighbors, while I tried to relax in a hot bath. Which was cold. Things went from bad to worse as the costly night wore on. The music from an obnoxiously loud reception taking place two floors below could be heard until after 11pm. The hall traffic could be heard effortlessly, a constant onslaught of conversation and door slamming that was impossible to ignore. I am not a complainer, so I tried tell myself the free breakfast was going to make up for everything. Unfortunately, it also fell short of my meager expectations as well, and I would have to say this was overall a very bad experience. I could have stayed at the Super 8 down the road for half the price and slept a whole lot better.
