Beautiful hotel inside. Historic with some amazing woodwork. The breakfast buffet was great quality (@15 bucks pp). Unfortunately the rooms sucked. The room was small. Had no area to put your stuff. There was no fridge in the room. We were positioned the direction of the sunrise, at 6 am the sun was blasting through the cheap miniblinds. There was no curtains to close. It has an awesome atmosphere, but I think I'll be staying elsewhere next time I'm in Lexington.

Rooms are VERY dark. Beds are better than most. Maid service lacking thoroughness. Restaurant has fantastic breakfast bar. (The only meal we ate there) Friendly helpful staff. Elevator has been out of service for 4 days. Since ice machine is in the same area, no nearby ice for 4 days.

It truly is a beautiful place, beautiful scenery and wonderful (overpriced) food. A very nice bar and pool room, and a lovely dining hall. However, not only did they get our room mixed up TWICE, but we ended up having to stay in a smaller room that we did not pay for and claimed all the other rooms were booked. We reserved for an extended suite, but we ended up having to stay in a regular two queen room on the first floor, which is not what we paid OR asked for weeks ahead of time. It ended up taking TWO HOURS for us to finally get to the "correct" room. Upon first arriving, they did not inform us over the phone that we had to have the money for the room on a debit card through a bank — we assumed that like most usual hotels, they would prefer cash. Also, we had stayed here last year, and the year before that, and this policy only went into effect this year. It would have been nice if they had informed us of that before we drove 3 hours to get there. Overall, it was a decent stay, the place is absolutely beautiful and has a very interesting history — but we will not be staying there again.

This is an older hotel, but has had a big remodel. The room was a standard size. Beds were comfortable. No microwave or fridge in rooms. Bar in the hotel is nice. Friends said breakfast was mediocre and it's not included in stay, thankfully it was free for honors members. Location was convenient to downtown. Would stay again.

This place is a dump! If you are a business traveller, do not stay here! The rooms are dirty, the hotel is run down. I found food crumbs and a prescription pill on the floor in my room! Also, dust everywhere. The aura of the hotel is like the hotel in the movie, The Shining. Shame on Hilton for putting their name on this property. I would rather stay at a Holiday Inn!

A historic property on the rise. Much is updated… but not all. I think will only get better. Rooms are nice but bathrooms are very small. Great location near UK stadium.

So… if you like different and eclectic… this is definitely the place for you… the feeling and energy of the place… harmonic, nostalgic and well preserved. It felt like I was in a different time and a different world. The place is clean, very different room configurations, not the typical hotel. Staff was so friendly and welcoming, makes you feel right at home. The food is better than the nearby restaurants in my opinion. Can't wait to go back.

The hotel is beautiful with a lovely front patio that is a great place to sit, take in a sunny day under the shade. The breakfast buffet offers a suitable breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cut fruit and various breakfast breads like bagels and muffins. It's not an exciting variety or quality but good. The bathrooms are small, but the pedestal sink is the real kicker because you don't have a space to place your toiletries. Overall, a very nice hotel and I would stay here any time visiting Lexington. Great location and classy appointment.

Very quaint hotel. It has been maintained and updated to be modern and sleek, but it maintains a very distinct Kentucky flair and nods to the past. The staff were all VERY friendly and helpful and seem to be very well trained and even appear to be enjoying their jobs! Keep in mind two things: 1) The bathrooms are tiny, because the hotel was built 1000 years ago before people needed their space to poop. 2) The hotel is right next to a hospital, this means you will hear the occasional siren. I will certainly be staying here again.

Great location, only a $7 uber from the downtown area. Beautiful building reminiscent of a plantation that fits perfect in the Lexington area with all the farms! Nice clean quaint rooms. Price was very reasonable compared to the downtown area. Had a young man, "Mike" help us with our luggage and orientation of the hotel, he was very helpful even for only being employed there for a mere four days! Thanks Mike! Highly recommend the Campbell House!

I have spent 12 hours today trying to find someone who will help me with NO luck. I made the serious mistake of booking a room for my wife and I via Hilton website and the “Advance Purchase” program weeks in advance of our trip. While we were trying to decide between two different properties I clicked on the wrong one. I didn’t realize my mistake until I went to check in. I have spoken to at least 10 different Hilton representatives today including the staff at the Campbell House (Where I mistakenly booked) The Garden Inn (where I meant to book) as well as several others with the Hilton Honors customer service team. Not one person can/will help me. I have to eat $271 for two nights. Now I of course understand that I in fact made the mistake and take responsibility for that. I told them I am willing to pay a penalty (possibly one nights rate) but would really appreciate some, ANY help I could get. There is NO compromise with them when you book at “Advance Purchase” rate! Buyers Beware! Seriously Disappointed with the “help” I have received and am a very loyal Hilton customer who travels for work. This information will not stop here.

Very satisfied with this hotel, although the hotel is relatively old, but the surrounding environment is good, convenient transportation, large rooms, comfortable mattresses, health conditions are quite good.

The rooms were clean, the service was excellent, and I really enjoyed the bar. The restaurant was okay, but the coffee all around wasn't good. I'm not sure what kind of coffee they use but its bad in the rooms, lobby, and restaurant.

Campbell House is great. I've stayed here off and on for 9years. Better now as a Hilton property. All new referbished rooms and interior. Very chic. Rooms are different sizes and priced accordingly — last night I had a large tonight mine was standard. Do you research! Ask they will assist at the desk. Super helpful and nice staff. Super comfy beds and free coffee! BtW: Built in 1961. Not haunted.

Went for the mkthers day brunch and had a lonely meal. Service was good and the food was decent. Could have been a little more variety in the dishes. Over all good for the price.

Beautiful old building with modern amenities. However, nightly live rock music clashes with classic ambiance (especially in rooms which abut the pool, where the noise prevented sleep the first night). It's not quite clear who management is catering to, but it could be better. Would stay again, but only if I could check in early enough to avoid being stuck with the worst rooms (which should be discounted given the noise).

The hotel is very nice overall. The rooms were recently renovated and feel more modern than many other hotels. The only two negative aspects of our stay are that our room didn't have an outside view (the windows were directly next to a wall) and the breakfast buffet is a little expensive ($15).

Great hotel. Nice Staff. Bogarts Lounge is always good. $5 Uber ride to downtown bars. We love this place for an overnight in beautiful Lexington.

Great accomadations! I travel for business once per week and I was thoroughly impressed with The Curio. The grounds remind me of an Irish Estate I stayed at wilst in Kilkenny this January. Front Desk staff Welcomed with a smile and I know how important that is after dealing with American Airlines counter personal. Rooms are nothing short of 4 star… I Would stay here again for sure. …

Great old school hotel with all the small features you expect but the modern amenities you must have. The staff was very accommodating and extremely friendly.

I've stayed at Cambell House 3 times in the last year and they have always went over and beyond, staff very friendly and very helpful and such a nice atmosphere they have.

After reading reviews, I decided to book this hotel as a central location during our bourbon trail tour experience. I won't waste time with specifics but I'm VERY, VERY disappointed. I'm travel a lot and have achieved diamond status so I stay at many Hilton family hotels. This hotel supposedly underwent recent renovations and while the renovations are nice they have done a poor job maintaining the facility. Floors are dirty, carpet stained in all heavy traffic areas, we even found someone else's contact on our bathroom sink upon arrival! Staff were nice but that's it. Breakfast staff were understaffed and my coffee was cold and I had to ask repeatedly for refills. Rooms are cozy but small. Bring a sound machine or earplugs too because the hotel is next to a hospital and sirens will keep you up. I DO NOT recommend this hotel and will not book here again.

Worst dining experience I had in a while. Salad was frozen. NY strip was the worst steak ever. Service was lacking. It's a nice restaurant that won't last much longer.

What a steal! I mean they steal your personal items. Make sure when you leave you have all your personal items, because if you happen to leave something behind and immediately call the hotel when you get home and realize you left something, not only will they NOT call you back you have to spend a week calling and calling to get to speak to an actual person. When you finally do they say "we'll look into this but we don't have your item" and we'll call you back with updates, THEY NEVER DO. There is ZERO response from management and they don't even call you back to apologize and offer up some type of compensation. So if you don't mind their staff stealing from you, customer service which is the worst I've ever had, maybe you'll get lucky and have a room with a view of air conditioners.

When we pulled up we were at awe by the upkeep and decor of the grounds; however it didn't stop there. We received a warm welcome from the staff in the nicely decorated lobby. With such beauty around us we were afraid that our room wouldn't be as nice, but boy were we wrong. The Executive King Suite was spacious, up to date, and very clean. We loved the idea of the canopy style patio where we were able to sit, talk, and enjoy the breeze. The food at the restaurant was delicious and affordable. The service was great and we were able to seat ourselves and have an intimate dinner without a lot of people around. I can't wait to tell my friends and family about Lexington's best kept secret.

We stayed at the Campbell House Inn for 2 nights, and we were fortunate enough to have exceptional service from the front desk, as well as at Kilbern's. Our waiter, Charles, was absolutely wonderful and the food was superb (especially the bread pudding)! In addition, the hotel was equipped with some of the finest amenities and provided an atmosphere of genuine "southern hospitality". One of the perks of staying here was its ideal location and proximity from Keeneland and the University of Kentucky. However, we did experience some minor inconveniences. The bathtub did not drain well, and we found that the bathroom was quite small when compared to the spacious room itself. Nonetheless, we were quite impressed with our first stay in Kentucky and we look forward to spending the night here in the future.

Wonderful place to stay! My husband and I had such a nice time. The lobby is really beautiful, our room was nice and clean, and the restaurant is a treat. Our evening waiter was such a joy — he introduced us to derby pie, and we came back the next night for more! He made us feel like we were long time friends. Thank you for the memories.

Spent the night. Not good. Booked a suite with adjoining room two months in advance. Got there and found our adjoining room had been given to someone else. we did not have spare roll of toilet paper in either room. Can not tell you how long ago I have stayed in a room that did not have a refrigerator or microwave, neither of these rooms had either. This place was supped to have been remodeled, elevator had tiles missing on wall and paint was chipped. The buffet was very good. Los of good food and good variety. Would never pick this place to stay again nor would I recommend it to a friend.

We made the trip to Lexington from Cincinnati for the weekend and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The hotel was beautiful, especially the lobby. Our room was very clean and we love the simple décor. The food was delicious, we highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the Hot Brown, it was enough for 2 people to share and feel satisfied but not stuffed. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly. It was nice to find a place that had everything we needed for a weekend getaway all at one location. We will definitely make this trip again. We noticed some negative reviews that may have been during the renovations but we would recommend for all to give this place another chance.

I can confirm that all the issues raised in earlier reviews with lower ratings have been resolved. Renovation appears to be complete and the quality of the hotel equals or exceeds that of other high-end properties in Lexington I've stayed in (Marriott Griffin Gate, Gratz Park Inn). Booked a room, was upgraded at checkin to a suite (not sure why, and didn't know it had happened until I opened the door to the room, but who's complaining). Lots of leather, extremely comfortable king bed, no smoky smell, very little noise. Bathroom is small (maybe 6x8 feet) but luxurious (walk-in glass shower). Staff were very helpful and friendly but I thought a bit overworked. But we did arrive late and leave early, staying a Monday night in February with nothing much going on to cause people to need hotel rooms; during Keeneland there will probably be more hands on board. Two items new owners might want to address — parking lot along Mason Headley is not well-lit. Bathroom really needs an exhaust fan.

Historic Lexington hotel undergoing extensive (and I mean EXTENSIVE) renovation implemented by new ownership. Stayed in April 2014 and October 2014. The renovation began over the summer, and by October, much had changed. From what I saw, the hotel is heading toward becoming a premier destination. Rooms freshly painted, carpeted, and appointed. Beds VERY comfortable. Kilbern's restaurant had great cuisine and bourbon selection/bar. Crab cakes and bread pudding excellent, as was the bourbon salmon. Lobby has "wow" factor. Again, all heading in a very positive direction. Proximity great too: Keeneland is about 15 minutes away, via a scenic drive. Will DEFINITELY be staying there in the spring when I come down again for the KEE Spring Meeting. I think you all will enjoy this hotel, too.

I think the lower reviews came before this hotel was renovated. Rooms and lobby space are gorgeous now. Rooms are spacious, toiletries are good. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent experience overall! Amazing customer service — everyone from the front desk staff, to the shuttle driver to the Bogart's bartenders. The rooms themselves were HUGE — definitely not your standard hotel rooms size — and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. One of the most interesting hotels I've ever stayed in — lots of character and ambiance. I will definitely stay again.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE WEBSITE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY! If you've ever watched the TV show "Hotel Impossible" on the Travel Channel, this hotel is its next candidate. As a frequent business traveler I have stayed in many hotels across the country and have a good idea of what someone should expect for $169 per night. Your money is better spent at a nearby Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express until their renovation is complete. And that includes a renovation/replacement of some of the staff as well! Everything about this hotel from the staff to the accommodations is below 1 star. Lexington codes department should investigate this hotel for ADA code violations. As another review states, this hotel is not friendly to those with disabilities. That statement is accurate. When my wife and I checked in, the front desk attendant gave us directions to our room via the elevator. The elevator did NOT work. We carried our luggage across the the lobby again, told the attendant the elevator didn't work and she told us to go down the opposite hallway to another elevator. That elevator worked but when we got off the elevator we had to carry our luggage up another small flight of stairs. No bellman to help with luggage so we carried our luggage nearly a football field and up a flight of stairs. Just not what I would expect based on the hotel website and rate.

Stayed during their renovations and was willing to accept some chaos from that. However, I encountered issues that should NEVER happen. The first morning I had report that the shower/tub wasn't draining properly. The second night there were a couple insects in the room. The first two mornings the water was only moderately warm. The third morning there was NO HOT WATER for our room or any room in our wing (the boiler broke). The fourth morning our room and the rest of the wing had NO HOT WATER after 9 AM (the boiler hadn't recovered from the day before). For our troubles they refunded 75% of one days stay and refused to offer more. Also, the breakfast service (not typically complimentary, except w/ group deals) was good the first too days (made to order) but sub-par the second too days (buffet style). overall — do not stay here.
