We got one of the new rooms and loved it! Decent pricing and quick walk to shopping & food.

They have newly renovated rooms which are actually quite clean and modern, but expect all else same. The outward facing rooms are really noisy, heater didn't really work, hot water takes several minutes.

I booked through Expedia, and an hour after booking I had an emergency come up so I wasn’t going to be able to make it, I called to cancel but the manager Bob said I would have to switch the dates. This would have been ok but then he said it can only be for a night that was more expensive. My booking was already marked up 300% from a regular nights fee based on the night that I booked it for. He was so rude, luckily the booking company told me that as long as I booked for a week or more out I would get a full refund. I will never stay here, plus looking at the other reviews after the fact I got lucky, looks like there are bed bugs and it doesn’t seem like anyone would go out of their way to spend a night here. Maybe I just had bad luck so if you do plan to stay here just keep all that in mind, maybe you’ll have a better experience, but I would not recommend.

There is a very simple breakfast and parking, a lot of nearby station signs are convenient, the room is old but very clean, the bathroom water is very small and lotus head is fixed, bath is not very convenient, soundproofing is not very good. Nearby streets feel dirty and there are tourists, but it doesn't affect us.

Good parking. Nice rooms. Convienent and cheap. In a rather do part of town but not bad let's say there's lots of leather…

Friendly, clean, and descent room. It's nice and close to downtown, and if you can park under the building also a bit more secure for your car. Owners run the place and take good care of the place. Good value for the money. There will be street people outside, but they didn't bother us.

Was nice at first but then had a mix-up with the towells. Whoever cleaned my room took all my towells and didn't have the full amount of clean towells to replace them. She said she would bring the rest of the towells later. She never did. Then when it came time to collect towells the next day I asked if I could have the rest of my towells back this time as I needed more than 1 clean towel and no floor mat etc, however I was accused of idk doing something with the rest if the towells because the staff didn't comunicate to eachother that all of my towells were taken but never replaced. I was accused and never given anymore towels. Then when I went to checkout the next day I was charged like $27 for one washcloth and a pillowcase that I supposedly got make up on? So overall decent rooms and breakfast but rude service at front desk and cleaning staff also overcharged/wrongly charged for washclothes and pillowcases.

Beds are comfortable, parking is secure, staff is very friendly and helpful. Great choice for UCSF patients or visiting the BallPark. Double windows and rooms are inset to minimize street noises.

Nice clean room, limited parking but we had no problem, friendly staff allowed us later than 11:00 am checkout.

If you are looking for a very decent, and cheap option for a hotel then look no further. Staff was very friendly and room was clean. Breakfast was simple but included.

It's not a resort. But it is clean, relatively quiet, safe and near Samys camera and Trader Joe's. I stay here for business. Very convenient.

This place is badly managed and their staff is extremely unprofessional. The woman we checked in with was rude, inattentive, and overall the worst person I've had the displeasure to talk to. After reading all the negative reviews, I decided to go with the best attitude possible so that I could be treated the same but it was all for naught. It's common knowledge that hotels don't clean their linen like they're supposed to, so I always check first thing when I enter the room. Alas, the pillows smelled like sweat and I called to have them bring me new ones, just two for myself and my mom. When the housekeeper came, I gave her a tip in good faith, and imagine my horror when the pillows looked worse than the ones I had given back, one of them even had a blonde hair stuck to it (I'm a brunette! ). I imagine that the housekeeper just went to get me two pillows from another room that had just been vacated. We ended up not even using the pillows. On check out day, we went to eat breakfast and came back around 10:30, and when we tried to get into our room, the keys were ineffective. Upon calling the front desk, the woman told us that this sometimes happened and that she would have to see some ID so we could go back in for our stuff. It was infuriating, considering the poor service we received and the fact that checkout time was 11!

The location But figure that has free parking and actually only has some places that do not reach for the number of rooms, so we did not provide parking service and had to leave the car in the street.

Desperate for a room during an insanely huge conference I ended up stuck at the San Francisco Inn for the longest 6 nights of my life. The carpet was gross and the floor underneath was weirdly bumpy, the walls and trim were in dire need of a wipe-down (hair stuck to it everywhere), the wallpaper border was hanging off the wall, there were patches everywhere in the walls and ceiling, the furniture was disgusting, and the street noise was overwhelming. We left early in the morning and came back super late in order to spend the least amount of possible time in the room. We had to wear earplugs to sleep, bought room spray, and put towels on the ground so as to not have to walk barefoot on the carpet. The only good thing I can say is that the tile in the bathroom was decent, the tub and sheets were clean, and the staff was friendly.

Very good value for the Bay Area. Good parking, decent rooms, nice staff. You would pay much more for the same in this city, SOMA is an ok neighborhood.

My stay at San Francisco inn was fine. The staff was friendly and the room was nice and clean and quiet. The water pressure in the shower was not good, and the neighborhood was a little sketchy as well.

Rooms are small and decor is outdated but incredibly clean and well maintained. I'm talking no lymescale on the showerhead levels of detail. My biggest issue is the neighborhood you can't walk from the hotel to the closest BART/Munni station safely. That said the hotel takes security seriously and I feel perfectly safe in the hotel.

Perfectly sufficient. Good if you're travelling by car.

We moved to this hotel after leaving a hotel with bed bugs. This was at least clean and had no bed bugs, but the area is bad and the hotel is very old and has a funky smell to it. Our ac did not work so we slept with no sheets.

A normal stay in San Francisco. Continental breakfast is served in the check in room without seating area. About 12 parking lots available on a first come, first serve basis. Clean room, pricy, but I think that's San Francisco in general. Location is quite good to walk to downtown or take an uber drive.

Clean. Convenient. Secure… very nice people … will definitely stay again!

Tge rooms are definetly in need of more light. The breakfast was extremely minimalistic. The TV device is old. The free parking is first come first serve — no reservations possible.

Overpriced. The hotel is very noisy. No closet space and the room is pretty small. The house keeping people are loud and kept me awake. I never got a good night sleep. Homeless people right outside. I thought it won't bother me but it completely grossed me out. The lady at the front desk was rude during check out. Location was the only plus. Save your money and look elsewhere.

We have stayed here several times and never had any problems or negative experiences. The accommodations are very basic; the furnishings are the cheapest possible, and there is nubbly carpet Instead of the fresher-feeling laminate. But everything is whole and functional, not shabby or broken, and it is always clean. It is hardly a "four star hotel", but compared to the other lodgings in the area at this price point, the San Francisco Inn is a reliable choice for no-frills no-nonsense lodging in a very convenient location.

Area is a bit dodgy but rooms are clean and comfortable.

I do not often stay at hotels, but id say this place was sufficent for our needs. The bed was clean and comfortable, and an extra blanket was provided upon request. The air conditioner worked wonderfully and was controllable right from your bed, and thats a huge plus if youre like me and want to have the air be very cold while you sleep. Theres a microwave and fridge, both were clean and in working order! our bathroom was a little messed up… clean, and loved the skylight, but the toilet seat broke off the first time we used it (it was replaced the next day, however) and the light/fan made a horrible racket like a jackhammer whenever we turned it on, and a couple days in stopped working entirely. The cleaning people here are very diligent and left everything sparkling and fresh, and the water pressure and heat was lovely. The internet seemed to work fine, as well. I can see a few reasons others might complain, namely that light, but if you just want somewhere to eat, sleep and clean yourself this is not a bad one to pick!

I can't even say that I had a bad experience! Even if it is honest and clean. Don't go here!

I got this hotel for GDC. It's fairly cheap and is only a 20 minute walk from Moscone Center. Free Wi-Fi and a microwave. There are a couple nightclubs just a block away if you're into that, and a Trader Joes also a block away if you need nearby food. It didn't look like it had a lot of parking spaces, but it didn't matter to me since I walked everywhere. Room isn't huge, so it could get cramped if you're bringing in roommates to cut the cost, but it was fine for me by myself. I would definitely stay here again.

If you are someone who love to travel and will spend most of your time wandering San Francisco, this is the best place to go. The location is perfect, and the rooms are descent enough to have a goodnight sleep! Oh, and did I mention that they have parking space available, that alone makes this hotel a best choice!

Just don't. Lots of small problems from having issues with my payment through an agency to their reception not being manned many times which forced me to be late when I checked out.

Vagabond Inn is a perfectly serviceable motel in SoMa (South of Market). It is not far from the Civic Center, but it's a tad misleading to claim it's close; it's firmly in the South of Market neighborhood, just north of the 101 exit at 9th Street. There is a Trader Joe's just a block away, and there are plenty of places to go in SoMa, including some worthwhile places on Folsom and Howard Streets. The nabe gets a little dodgy at night, if you're used to the suburbs or somewhere devoid of any adversity but, if you've ever lived in a city and you're older than 25, you should be able to deal with the occasional bum without being overcome by terror. I had some problems with my key card (s), but the girl working in the office was quick to accommodate me and solve the issue. My room was cold at night, and they provided me with an extra blanket. The two chairs in my room were stained and filthy, but the bed was well-kept and the linens were clean. All told, this place was nothing special, but it was not a travesty of lodging, either. I didn't think it was terribly cheap but, relative to what hotels can charge for a night, it was. And if cheap is your budget, this place will serve you just fine.

9th street Worst experience in my life. Very expensive comparing to services (noone) Breakfast included, but no room for taking it. Just take a coffee and don't even have a seat. But charged. Hotels in center of Frisco cheapers and better comfort and services.

Manager Jana Gage is a rude thief. While staying with a group of coworkers we had 3 rooms. The girl at the front desk gave us 'tenth night free' cards, two of which we used at the end of the stay to keep one room for an additional two nights. Two weeks later I see a charge to the 'hotel' and call to inquire and hopefully deal with the situation. This woman was rude, got an attitude and couldn't even tell me why she was charging me but said that my tnf cards were invalid. If they were invalid, why did your front desk person distribute them and why did another one of your front desk people accept them as payment for the room? Still no valid answer, in fact she just dished more attitude without answer. So, no roaches, decent bed, shower and toilet. Staff wasn't overly friendly but not difficult — at least until you have need to speak to a manager. Obviously I'm having my bank help me deal with this situation, luckily I held on to my receipt that states acceptance of the cards. In this economy, I understand making your pennies, but losing customers that have a high probability of return — insanity.

Slow internet that goes off every hour bad service limited parking.

In terms of decoration and choice of colors of this hotel, I really liked it. Our room was clean most especially the bathroom. However, I was quite disappointed with the food. They need to improve on this.
