Was under construction while I was there. Staff was very nice and refunded us our money when we wanted to leave 2 days early. Lots of homeless drug addicts around market and 5th Street unfortunately.

Everything was acceptable. Nothing bad ir exceptional happened. Staff was friendly.

The main thing this hotel has going for it is location. I am far from a picky hotel patron but when I first walked in I thought I would be giving it one star. The people at the front desk are questionably helpful. One of them led is on an hours long goose chase looking for nonexistent parking. (They do not have parking). The walls are thin and the bathrooms are kind of gross. I found myself trying to use the bathroom before I got back to the hotel. However, there is a mini refrigerator, which is nice. And television and Wi-Fi. I am not sure I would *never* stay here again but I would probably pay something like $20 extra a night to stay somewhere marginally better. Which is most places probably.

Worst place to stay, you're better off sleeping in a tent or in the car! Dont NOT STAY HERE. I would give it negative stars if that was possible!

Traumatizing. No elevator for handicapped. Instantly, the place smelled like 200 years of cigarettes, and piss. The smell was overwhelmingly strong. Flies were everywhere walking in. Bathroom is just a toilet seat at the end of the hall, and it was soon filthy. The sink is in your own room. The community bathtub was a tub in a room that didn't lock, without a shower curtain. The bedroom was so tiny, smelly, cramped, and everything was torn and stained. The window faces 6 others room windows, no privacy. You could hear people whisper in the halls and other rooms. The bed was so gross, we did not let our skin touch it. We saw a dog piss in the hallway. The only way to have enjoyed this stay were to have been wrapped in plastic from head to toe. The only way to compare sleeping here and sleeping in the sewage is that there was a door. Do not stay there folks, for your own health, hygiene, and dignity. It took us an hour to find the place. Complete and utter waste of money. We were appalled. If you want to go to a hotel because you have nothing else, sleep in your car instead. Or go to walgreens, buy gloves, buy something to wrap yourself with, and cover the room with tablecloths or something.

A run down, dirty, uncomfortable hotel on the worst block in the city. There are many other hotels in town that are nicer than this dump and are less expensive.

A very posh area. Right next to a tobacco shop. Toilets are very private and clean. Although it is very expensive, it is worth the money!

Dodgy area. Unclean, shared toilet/shower. Syringes outside room. No house-keeping. Police showed up one night because another guest was hassled inside.

You get what you pay for. That being said, these are reasonable accommodations for the price. My only complaint is the visiting hours. Bathrooms could use remodeling as well.

Banu I still shudder when I think about it … but you can not help but can go for a night …

Full disclosure: we read the reviews before arriving and thought everyone else was being sensitive complainers. We usually stay in the cheapest accommodation we can find and have never had any issues. The arrival: The walk to the hotel from the public transport was scary. Large groups of homeless people and a fair number of scary loiterers. They were there all night. Inside the hotel: Because it looks so scary we decided to check the room before staying. The guy working there was a doll and didn't give us a hard time about it at all. There was a blood stain on our bed… but we were tired and couldn't find another place to stay close-by or within our budget so the receptionist changed our room to one with a clean (? ) bed. Inside the room: It was small, but we were happy to find it had a heavy plastic covering over the mattress and there was a sink in the room. No AC… but a wide open window to an ally. No toilet in the room, but one toilet and one shower per gender per floor. The bathrooms were filthy. Other patrons: A colorful bunch. On our first night our next door neighbors stayed up all night yelling and making strange noises. We saw a mouse running down the hallway, and we could only feel pity for his misfortune on living there. Employees: very nice. Internet: only works next to reception. Cost: It was the cheapest in the city at the time we booked. The second cheapest was twice the cost. Summary: It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in by a huge margin.

Budget Inn. You get what you pay for. I visited a friend staying for the weekend. It was a mishmash of walls, doors and shady neighbors. Not as dirty as I'd expect. Good for an emergency or acts requiring an amount of discretion and desperation.

Room is the real scary. My bad luck is I got room opposite to the toilet, so I can hear open/close door sound all the times. Room is old and no maintenance. No Aircon / Fan Fridge. Just room, and bed.

Very small but very cheap. Shared Dirty toilets. Does not have air conditioning does not have a microwave. Does not. have a refrigerator. Somewhat safe. The street is not safe.

Leave it to my lil bro who just turned 21 to book a hotel in the city. Not what I had in mind at all. The rooms are small like you are sleeping in a closet, there is a weird lingering smell, the locks on the doors are super sketchy, who knows what kind of nody fluids im laying in and the rooms are so jam packed together that you can hear EVERYTHING. This my first experience really in a hostel, so just trying to look and stay in the positive. You are in the heart of the city, its cheap and its albout the experience. This room is really more for crashing-passing out for being out in the city all day.

Everyone I know just pulls it out and gets a lil sink action going. Wait in line 25 minutes to take a leak?! Nuts.

You get what you paid off. First look its scary but it's pretty much safe and hotel is in heart of sf.

Pluses: The location is right opposite to Civic and Union BART, and you get what you pay for. As mentioned earlier, staffs are very helpful and they do everything they can to help you. Minuses: The bed is definitely not meant for two. You may get extra bedsheets and comforter for the other person to sleep on the floor. One toilet and one bathroom for an entire floor to share. Once it happened so that I had to wait for 25 minutes, just to pee. Both the toilets and the rooms are very unclean and badly maintained. Pay a few extra bucks and stay in a better hotel. Do not think about saving a few bucks by staying in this hotel, as you would lose all the happiness in your world by making this poor decision.

Seriously. Do NOT ever stay here! I needed a place to stay and regretted it as soon as I walked through the room door. You have to share a bathroom with strangers (effing disgusting bathroom), the rooms seem filthy, not to mention the rooms have no tv's. Also, no Wi-Fi. There is a budget inn Wi-Fi but they won't give you the password, A holes. Lastly, and probably the most important, I lifted the comforter just to find bed bugs! I literally slept in my clothes on top of the bed just cause I was so tired. I wish I could give a rating of less than one star. This place needs to be shut down, worst hotel ever.
