Just was short staffed, TERRIBLE customer service, you seemed more like you were a annoyance rather than the guest. They gave you one roll of toilet paper. And just kind of an older place not very fresh and inviting at all!

The hotel staff told me that I would get my deposit back in 2-5 days after my check-out. They bungled the parking fee in my bank account that I paid. This mistake on theirs affected on returning the full deposit of $168.44. I checked out on 1 Nov and only received $100 back from the deposit. So where did that $68.44 went? Was that a hidden fee for this hotel?

Historic building quite atmosphere relaxing nice view.

The staff has been very friendly and accommodating, the GM has great customer service and he made sure we were comfortable during our stay, the hotel is clean, mask always required, sanitizer stations located in the hotel, we definitely felt safe during the pandemic with COVID. Security at all times of the day. This is a great location for tourist because you are in walking distance to many tourist attractions. Definitely, highly recommend!

Pretty city views. Close to CPMC for diagnostic procedure. Very clean, Hand Sanitizers were provided but we brought our own Clorox wipes. We enjoyed our stay and they provided Bath and Body Works in-room amenities.

First of all the staff are great, and do everything to make the stay nice. I will however say that leaving room service trays and carts with left overs in the hallway overnight will attract unwanted rodents. This evident from the rat that paid me a visit last night.
the hotel was quick to respond and moved me from the 10th floor to the 18th immediately.

Quality hotel making for an enjoyable stay. Very convenient to get to from the airport — just off the main highway. Also had easy access to a bus route to the Embarcadero and trams towards the financial district. Nice swimming pool and a gym with all the essentials.

Great location. Clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff. My only real complaint is the toilet seats. There is a shelf that is over the toilet and so the seat does not stay up on it's own. It's not cool to stand and hold the seat or sit and have it should your back. Not ok.

We used the conference rooms downstairs. The whole setup was incredibly done. The Wi-Fi was great. The food was really tasty. The hotel staff helped make sure that a guy didn't lose his laptop. I would love to another conference here.

Location is pretty good, right beside the California Street cable car and Polk has many great places to eat/ night life. The rooms are standard (very clean and house keeping does a great job) and the front desk is pleasant. Nice hotel while on a budget.

Understandably, this hotel serves as a viable option for most travelers looking for a good deal while living in the city. However, this hotel isn't close to being bang for the buck. Let me start off by saying this — you will be charged a bomb in exchange for some extremely mediocre service. The hotel has no room service on weekends (weekdays room service is only 5 hrs a day). The room itself has bare minimum amenities, which means no safe, no bathroom slippers, dental or toiletries kit. The food options are terribly limited and the ambience of the place is that of a cheap, run-down motel. If you have to spend a little bit of extra money to stay some place else, I'd strongly advise doing that.

We stayed in the higher floor rooms that have recently been renovated. Room was clean and had everything we needed. The fitness center is decent, though it could have used more weight machines. They do have plenty of free weights and several benches. Several treadmills and elliptical machines too. Room had a fridge and coffee maker and a safe. Bathroom had no fan, so it fogged up mightily.

The staff is great, the building is clean and in great condition, and our room was fantastic! Comfy bed, nice bathroom, and the best view ever! Also, the location is ideal, not too far from stuff, but not in the middle of crowds either. Highly recommend this hotel!

We had a great experience during our stay. When we checked in we were upgraded to a room with a amazing view. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They set us up with a 3 day tour of the city, and also told us about places to see. Fast and easy check out, they even offered to set up transportation to the airport, but I already had it covered. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Will definitely recommend you to everyone and stay again on our next trip to San Francisco.

Staff were great and location is perfect to walk and explore. Chose a high room to make the most of the views. April temperatures and an outdoor pool didn't deter the youngest member of the family from taking a dip. Car parking is pricey but within the hotel, so very convenient. Only minor criticism is that you have to take an elevator — there are no stairs even if you only want to go up one floor to get to the garage. And when the temperamental elevators play up and refuse to let you out, you really wish there were some stairs!

Very nice, good location, excellent facilities. Only issues were with loud bathroom fan which operates all day and cannot be switched off, and the windows could do with being sound-proofed as street noise is clearly audible even multiple stories up. Room and hotel facilities were excellent though and above concerns were only minor in an otherwise excellent stay. Would certainly stay again.

Truly great view from the 23rd floor! I liken the elevator situation to purgatory on earth, however. Didn't try the restaurant… wish there was a hot tub. Don't even think about trying to refill your water bottle at the front door. Scolded like a child! Excellent location made it all worthwhile.

This hotel is in a good safe location, central enough to be able to walk to a number of areas of interest. Nearby bus stops also serve various areas. Room was clean with good facilities including a coffee machine. There's a gym and a rooftop pool as well as a large restaurant bar. The bed was large and comfortable, the staff all friendly and helpful. If you look around for a deal, it can be excellent value for money. Ultimately has the feel of a business hotel.

The rooms of the hotel are clean and large. They offer some great views of San Francisco as long as the weather is playing. Unfortunately we were woken by a Feueralarn at night and had to leave the hotel. Breakfast is really more expensive with $20 per person, especially since the price was due to poor buffet, not justified.

The reception and restaurant got renovated recently. Restaurant and bar on ground floor is a good place to kill your extra time by watching some games. Not very noisy nor too quiet. The room is stand though without superise. Behind the hotel, there are a few restaurants are quite good. Easy access if you are driving. Not a bad choice for business trip.

The check in was not very fast, for 5 people in front of us and 2 staff behind the counter we had to wait almost 20min. Wi-Fi is free, the rooms are good, nice views of the skyline, but the air conditioning in the room is very noisy.

The hotel and room are excellent! The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed very soft and very comfortable! However, the reception staff is a bit rude and with little desire to help, I would even say a little racist.

My family and I have stayed here a few times over the past years and we have been extremely happy every time. Always clean, easy parking, great location. The staff are top notch. Restaurant on site and great views of the city. I would recommend to anybody.

I brought my partner here for his birthday because he wanted to spend the weekend in San Francisco. The room itself was very comfortable and it had a great view of the city. The Hotel has a nice gym and pool area (if you're interested they have rooms with poolside access. My only complaint is that it took us over half an hour to get checked in. There was nothing wronh with our reservation; there were just too many guests and not enough people working the front desk. I'd also complain about the $40/day parking, but I kind of expected to be exploited for lack of parking in the City. If you don't want to pay it, make sure to plan where you park.

I'm rating three star because the service and the quality of the building averaged out. When we arrived, the parking gate wasn't working to let us into the garage. We went in to ask the front desk if we needed to check in first and they said that we needed to park before we checked in. It turns out that sometimes the gate just doesn't let you in because it's having an error and the only solution is to wait or back out and pull in again. After checking in to our room, we planned to go to a social event that was in the top floor. However, the elevator will only let you go to the floor that your room is on. So we had to go all the way down to the ground floor to ask an employee to push the button to let us go to the top floor. Their system is nice in theory (you should only need to go to the floor you are on) but it fails in practice as I'll describe in more detail. Another reason we needed to go to another floor was that my parents had a room on another floor, so did my brother. The only solution the hotel offered was to have them ask for a duplicate key to give to us. Finally, I was on the sixteenth floor. When I wanted to get ice from the ice machine, I discovered that it was removed from my floor and replaced by a sign that said there were ice machines on odd numbered floors. I wasn't even allowed to take the elevator to an odd numbered floor! The room was clean and looked nice.

It was one of the cheaper hotel options for what we we're looking for but it turned out to be very comfortable. Upon first walking into the lobby you don't immediately notice how nice it is. Upon closer inspection you can tell they spent the extra money on every little detail to make the stay as good as it can be for you. There are too many things to list but as an example, the lobby bathroom is very clean, has a nice texture for the stall fixtures, there is a nice fancy light surrounding the mirror, and the hand towels are high quality. Also, the lobby staff was very friendly, helpful, and gave a good recommendation for dinner. The room was a little small but that's what you can expect in San Francisco. We had a 2 queen bed room overlooking the pool with an unbeatable city view. Again, the little details made the big difference. Stylish but high thread count bed set, nice sized TV, and comfortable bathroom. One thing I will say is that it was a bummer that parking was not included. It was an extra $40 to park overnight. Other than that I had no complaints at all.

The hotel is well maintained and the room was very nice. It has a very nice restaurant and bar area. The staff on the hotel and restaurant were very nice. The service on both was excellent. The location was perfect as it was walking distance from the client I was visiting. The neighborhood seemed decent and it is close to a lot of different bars and restaurants just a few blocks away. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to SF.

We are here now and it's great x the place is long x spotlessly clean convenient x great views from the room x great size all you could ask x my one complaint and that is for every hotel we have stayed in is there is no kettle x English people don't want these gadgetry coffee makers x we want kettles instant coffee x proper tea x proper milk and cups not paper rubbish x not even China cups just cups that are not made of paper x x there are signs in all hotels ask in you yo be careful with towels etc x because of the environment and I totally agree we don't use a towel then discard it x so why throw away cups it makes no sense x they are horrible x I haven't had a drink first thing or last thing other than water or coke as the coffee is too strong and to add insult to injury they give coffee whitener that is ok but one tiny sachet ridiculous x rant over x this is not just this hotel we ha e stayed in 6 in the USA in 2 weeks and all the same.

I liked a lot was very cordial attention. Ell breakfast when it is included very full, continental and also american-style. Has a fridge is very very full and garages.

Nice rooms, good amenities and good pool. Only two coin operated washers and dryers but no one else was using them when we were there. Excellent room service food, good quality and quick. Good menu, and the waiter called back to check how we found things and if he could collect the trolley they deliver it on.

Excellent breakfast they offer for $ 20, the room is very comfortable and the beds are the same. The pool area is unkempt with old furniture. The one in charge of reporting for the tours does not speak English and puts you will.

Rooms were great, a little dated with the decor, but it's well taken care of. Very comfortable bed, AC worked very well. Not the greatest shower ever, about what you'd expect in a normal hotel, but worked well with good pressure. Rooms were also very quiet. Service was also fantastic, they really try to make you feel good when you check in. So the main reason you're paying what you are for just a "decent" hotel in a mediocre area is the view. It does not disappoint, and is the main reason for the 5 star rating. If you want nicer accommodations for this price, there's stuff closer to the Financial District, but you will not have a view like this. Loved it.

Alucino that people will put more than 3 star to this hotel. Must be all geeks because it is the closest geek and horrendous that je seen in many years. The staff geek, the breakfast a disaster. I can only say that I will not repeat. What better location for public transport and is not anything of another world. Have to do a real cleaning and renovation of the hotel to be fairly decent.

Would definitely visit again! The workers at their restaurant could've been nicer and more attentive, which is one of the reasons I left off a star. My room itself was nice and spacious. A/C worked great! Room felt modern and looked modern.

The good: Amazing views, beautiful rooms, nice location, right next to the cable car line that will take you to Embarcadero area, great service, and nice restaurant with good beer choices. The bad: Super thin walls and windows (I could hear a quiet yawn in the room next door and I could almost make out conversations on the street from the 23rd floor. Would I go again? Absolutely. Just bring earplugs.

Neat Rooms, and fresh environment. Was a pleasure staying there. The location is ideal if you don't want to be near the activity center, rather closer to the tourist points. The city view is excellent from the hotel rooms. They have a nice cosey dinning area and good food as well.

Great location along the California St. & Polk St. Cable car stop. It offers a lovely view of the city and spacious rooms. There is no complimentary breakfast, which for the cost should be included. But luckily there is a Starbucks right around the corner to grab a bite and coffee. I would stay here again.

This isn't the first time I've stayed at this hotel, but this time my room smelled strongly of mold. I was also disappointed to find a long piece of dental floss in the shower. Aside from these two issues, the hotel is decent enough. It's in an ok location, within walking distance to many of San Francisco's sightseeing sites. The restaurant has decent food for reasonable prices, and there's many other good restaurants nearby (ask the front desk for a list of them). It has room for improvement, but gets three stars for the location, affordability, and friendly staff.

Anthony has been of the greatest help to my wife and I on our stays at the hotel. We stay there when we attend events and look for the comfort of our own home and anthony is like a good neighbor. They put me in one of the rooms for the disabled although I am not. Because of this it was very inconvenient as the mirror in the bathroom was set at wheelchair height so all I got was a great view of my naval. There was no room for my toiletry things by the bathroom wash basin and I kept feeling the bath seat when I showered. There were other things but I wont gi on anymore.
The porters though are fantastic as was the staff.

The hotel is very close to the cable car terminal. Efficient service Generous breakfast.

Seminar in this hotel & was very convenient & relaxing place to make a home while here. Uber'd all over the city from here & it was a great central location to get around from. Nice room! Had breakfast downstairs & the wrap was awful due to wet spinach. Seems like a decent chef could figure that out, but no. The buffet looked good but was expensive & more than I could eat.

The room was fine but the dining experience at the hotel restaurant was a little disappointing. My sister and I took our mother there for Mother's day and ate at the restaurant. Our waiter was nice and a man in a suit and tie (the manager by assumption) seemed to touch based with every table of diners throughout the evening. Except ours. In fact, he went as far as to ask the couple at the table next to us how their food was, collect an empty glass off their table, then look at our table full of empty post-meal dishes and scurry off without a word. I tried not to take it personally but I noticed he went to EVERY table collecting dishes or refilling water glasses except ours. He even visited some tables multiple times. The most obvious difference between us and the rest of the patrons was we were the only table of black diners. You will notice from my previous reviews that I often have positive dining experiences and will certainly give praise when it is due. This is not one of those instances. I hate to seem demanding or as if I want a racial issue. I simply want the attentive service that all the other paying customers got while dining there. This was our first trip to San Francisco and I'm sure it won't be our last time visiting the city. One thing I know for sure is that I won't be eating here again. I will happily go to an establishment that values my business as much as everyone else's.

Stay was STRANGE! Room was cleaned but someone had used the bed and there was urine in the toilet. We call the front desk and they sent house keeping up and they insisted we wait outside the room until they cleaned it which made us miss our dinner reservation. The manager said for our inconvenience he would sent something special up to our room. We were there two nights and did not receive anything. Not sure why he said it as we did not ask for anything. Also, the air worked but was very noisy and we could here the service elevators all night.

Quiet, clean, comfortable beds, no complaints! Bus service across street as well as trolley around corner to Embarcadero/Port of San Francisco. BART to airport from Powell St or Embarcadero stations. Walgreens, restaurants nearby.

The hotel is located on van Ness with easy access to the cable cars and buses to get you anywhere you need to go. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable.

Rooms are clean but service is not the best. I've tried calling the front desk multiple times about their terrible Wi-Fi but after being accidentally hung up on they haven't answered the phone since.

I found it to be a very good value. The room was clean and well appointed. The view from the 22nd floor was fantastic. The location was a bit out of the way for me, but the surrounding area had a good number of restaurants and shops, and had good access to bus routes.

All in all a great experience… at first. After we left, both my girlfriend and I found out fraudulent charges were made on our cards (both from within the hotel). I bought 2 drinks from the bar downstairs and paid with my card (no open tab). Card back in my wallet and never used again onsite. My girlfriend paid for the room on her card (and nothing else). Seeing as we were not together at the bar and our cards never left our sight, it looks very bad on the possibility our cards were compromised by an employee. Now we are getting ready to leave the country and we have to get cards re-issued and accounts squared away. Would not stay here again due to this "coincidence".

Eating dinner in the restaurant was like eating in the freezer. Despite the exceptional food quality, I wanted to run somewhere where they had the heat turned on! I mean everyone was wearing coats, waitress, bartender, customers too. Some had on hats and others were sitting on their hands to warm them.

Super nice stay at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco. We had the 19. Floor, a fantastic view and a clean room. Despite the price is the stay there is exactly the Right thing. We are four of us traveled with kids 14/16. The Hotel is located right in the centre and the Cable Car in front of the door.

— Rediculous expensive breakfast and dinner — The service people are arogant and push back instead of solving your problem (e. G. The non functional Wi-Fi) — The room doors are too thin. A lot of noise till late and begining from 5am again… — The salad in the restaurand is really reall bad — The ceiling paint comes off — Window glass is increadibly thinn, like from the mid age (city noise…) — The "Fitness Center" is basically only a small appartment sized room for 5 treadmills and one (! ) weight bench! + City central and close to the start of the Cable Car station.

Stayed at this hotel for a night while visiting, and to my surprise it was quite nice for the price. Bright spacious rooms with a nice view of the city. Downstairs also had a full bar and restaurant, very convenient if you and a couple of friends were planning on hitting the clubs and bars later that night. The hotel is also very close to a lot of the hot spots around town. Checking in and out was a breeze and hotel staff were friendly as well. Overall 4 stars.

I came here and was not allowed to check in, so I was stranded on the streets of San Francisco. Allow me to elaborate: I called this hotel, along with several others, looking for a place to stay that allowed for morning check-in. After speaking with the woman on the phone (contacted via 'reservations' from the hotel's number), I was told that my room would be available immediately upon arrival. Interesting. Immediately upon arrival, I am told that my confirmation number doesn't exist, that I never made a reservation with the hotel, and that even if I did I couldn't check in until 3pm. The man at the front desk, ROBERT, was extremely rude throughout the entire discussion and overall was an embarrassment to the company as a whole. Finally, my confirmation came through and Robert was able to verify that I had, indeed, reserved a room with the hotel. However, despite there being a room available they refused to budge on the 3pm checkin rule. After failing in his attempts to blame everyone other than himself for these problems, he brought in his manager, KEN, who confirmed that I had a reservation (brilliant), but said I couldn't check in until 3pm. After failed negotiations, I left the hotel without a room and was left with no place to stay at 5:30am in San Francisco. Despite years staying at Holiday Inns, the outright incompetence and rudeness of both Robert and Ken means that I will no longer, under any circumstances, stay at one of these hotels again.

We were now the second, but definitely the last time in this Hotel. This Service is unfortunately no longer capitalized u after the renovation is unfortunately also the Flair of this hotel way. Also the small toxins with the nice lady had the renovation soft. There is now an arrogant and schnöseligen youth as a "Concierge" who thinks to Know everything better. The only positive thing about this Hotel was the nice staff in the sterile Bar.! P. S. To all the drivers, here is the cost of the day Parking is 40 $ plus shipping. Tax.

I didn't stay here but came by a room that my friend was staying at. While the outside looks like it hasn't been updated since the 70's the interior and rooms were relatively modern and had free Wi-Fi.

Direct acces to the cable car. :-).

All was awesome — very friendly staff from the room cleaners to the front desk to the restaurant/bar. Beds very comfy and plenty of pillows with different firmness — an awesome treat when traveling. Food was delicious. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the patio by the pool closes at 10:00. I understand the pool closing (which is gated) at 10pm, but there were a few cigarette smokers in our group and being able to hang out on the patio where smoking was aloud was nice. Until 10:00 when we had to either go back to our rooms (where smoking isn't aloud) or hang out on the street.

Best (and unfortunately also the most expensive) hotel on our trip — room and bathroom very clean; Room service and staff was very friendly and accommodating; Bartender you sow cool ;) ; Super good observation =) because we have a King-bed room on the 25th floor after an upgrade.

Great location! We were able to walk everywhere or take public transportation so we didn't have to move or park the car in SF. Lots and lots of great restaurants within walking distance, the room had a kick-ass view of the city, it was dead quiet in the hotel and it was very clean. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful, check-in and out a breeze. Highly recommend.

Beautiful setting, very very correct, very well bestowed, bedroom and/or suite well presented, quality/price acceptable; the buffet breakfast in the morning just need rinsing of dishes instead of coffee. But this is America! Near a Starbucks where you can swallow an attempt of coffee better managed.

San Francisco has recently been rated the expensive place to visit. With that in mind, this Holiday Inn location might fit your budget. I used to stay here overnight from time to time, but now that I live in the city, I haven't been back since (about 2yrs now. ) I hope they updated some of the furniture and carpet. With that said, it's in the Tenderloin, so it's not the best location in terms of walking (though there are some great bars and restaurants on Polk Street). But it is located in the center, where you can easily go to various tourist spots in the city. And you can take the California cable car nearby to get to Chinatown, Nob Hill, and Embarcadero. The last time I stayed here, I had a corner room. The closet was a stand-alone and the wood smelled kind of old. But the views were fantastic! And the staff is friendly, and the room was clean. I recommend this place for the type of traveler that's on a budget and doesn't want to sacrifice quality.

Pretty good rates, nice views from the top floors and quiet environment. It's right next to a cable car and a bus stop which goes to fisherman's wharf, also it's located right next to 00s of cafes and nice little restaurants.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway for a recent business trip. While the hotel is not in the best area of the city (near the tenderloin), the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are better than your typical Holiday Inn. A good value for the price. If you are open to taking a taxi from the hotel to the better shopping/eating districts then this would be a fine choice; however, if you need to walk from downtown or union square to this hotel, make sure you take a safest route and avoid venturing more than 3 or 4 blocks to the south. Overall, a nice experience.

Old facility, $40 parking for one night!

Fantastic hotel in downtown San Francisco on a very central street. It has great views of the city as it has many stories high. They charge you more to stay on the upper floors, but it is worthwhile.

Used the hotel for a 3-day trip to San Francisco. All in all overnight recommendable if you "only" neat would.
Pool is heated, is minimally equipped gym (4 cardio equipment, two benches, dumbbell up to 50 lbs, TV, towels and water dispenser), breakfast is very good for a continental breakfast. Good services. Fast Internet. Beautiful view from floor 10 (give the best a room from floor 20)

Hotel also has good public transport connections. (Line 47 and 49 fisherman's Wharf and downtown, as well as line 1 to the Golden Gate Bridge)
The in-house shop sells even the Muni passes (day pass is worth EUR 13 — if you would like to ride cable car).
