The pool is closed, our room wasn’t cleaned and there is no hot breakfast. They don’t tell you this until you check in. Horrible — we would have stayed somewhere else.

Quite frankly. I’ll see what breakfast is tomorrow morning.

Terrible Experience, beyond surreal that Jay, the GM, would act this way. I started packing yesterday to realize that I had accidentally booked the hotel for the night before. It was an honest mistake I made with one click of the button, just the day before. So I called the hotel and explained it to them, but they told me I had to talk to Expedia. For the next two hours, I was on the phone with Expedia and the GM of this Best Western, Jay. After awhile, Expedia told me that the GM declined to accommodate me in any way. So I called the hotel back and asked to speak to the GM myself. I was transferred to someone who claimed to be the GM, but wasn't. Finally, I was forwarded to the actual GM, Jay. Now, to be fair, I admit I made a mistake. I am a responsible adult. I pay the consequences for my decisions. This place, however, seemingly enjoys putting salt on a wound. In fact, I would go so far as to say that enjoy it. Jay informed me that he did not care that I had made the mistake. He lied to me that he could do anything to help me in correcting the mistake. He was dishonest in telling me that only Expedia could help. He lied to me in trying to tell me that Expedia wasn't being honest with me, where in fact, it was him. I said to him, "This was an honest mistake. " And he said, "And now you're paying for it. " I had nowhere to stay now. I did eventually find a nicer local hotel to stay.

Great place… quiet… Easy access to CR Summit at Lake Forest.

I may be bias considering I’m a hotel employee but I highly recommend staying at the BW Capo Inn if ever visiting SJC a few days. It’s got a quaint, kick back beachy feel to the property, surrounded by swaying palm trees & conveniently located off the 5 freeway and Ortega Hwy. I would suggest reserving a deluxe room type to ensure the backside location, & 2nd floor room where guests enjoy a sliding glass door, leading out onto a patio with seating, & killer view of San Juan Hills Golf Club & nearby downtown Dana Point. The hotel offers a few key FREE amenities, including Wi-Fi, parking & an amazing full breakfast. Come see us, we look forward to having you as our guest!

Great location close to freeway, but not noisy. Nice room, better breakfast, reasonably priced.

This place is motel style. The pool and hot tub look small but nice. Never went to the pool because it is always crowded. Breakfast was better than most places, you can make your own waffles with toppings. The shower/toilet water had a smell to it.

Nicely appointed rooms. Clean and maintained. Easy freeway access. Reasonable pricing. Large pool area. Minimal breakfast offerings. Good place for travelers. Close to the Dana Point beaches.

Descent hotel. A little on the aging side but still a comfortable place. The staff was friendly and helpful about the surrounding area restaurants. It's right off the freeway but right in the middle of the area's attractions. Bad to the bone barQ wasn't as good as we were told. But if you have a chance go through the mission. It was great!

I give it 5 stars because it was the perfect hotel for what we needed. We needed a dog friendly hotel and this was that place. I searched a long time to find a hotel that would accommodate our particular needs. If you are looking for a fancy type of hotel, this is not the place. If you have pets and need somewhere that you don't have to worry about your pet (s) then this is it. There are plenty of restaurants around as well. The staff was great and fulfilled everything I needed for our stay.

I can't say anything bad about this place. I think there mattresses and bedding are wonderful. They have a complimentary breakfast that can satisfy any breakfast eater. Their heated pool looks nice and clean. You can even purchase beer, wine, and champagne 24 hours a day.

Super clean, friendly, convenient. Enjoyed the pool one evening after dinner nearby (Ricardos, excellent Mexican) and the breakfast room was large, light and airy and super clean and well stocked. We have stayed here before and will again.

For the price points, I think it’s a pretty good value overall. (It’s not a BW Plus, so you get what you pay for. ) The noise from the nearby 5 freeway is constant, but that’s SoCal for you. It’s a decent enough midscale hotel; a bit bland in terms of color, but still tasteful, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I booked a king room with a balcony, and was given a top floor room on the end so it was quieter. Plus, it was a corner room, so I had windows on two sides, givi…ng me a more panoramic scenic view, which was lovely. I liked the hot tub and pool side lounge area, and the free breakfast, although I wish it went past 10 AM, since I was here on a holiday weekend. There is also an on-site coin laundry, which can be helpful when you are traveling. Overall, I found the staff very personable, helpful, and responsive. There are some structural issues which should be addressed sooner rather than later: my balcony was very nice and had a beautiful view, but its cement floor sloped downward visibly. You step out onto it, and you can immediately feel yourself going “downhill“. Ditto for the tiled outdoor corridors connecting the rooms; you can see with the naked eye that they aren’t level. Also, there was a crack in the ceiling that ran the entire length of my room; and although the majority of it was plastered and painted over, as you got closer to the balcony, the crack got bigger and was not painted over.

Other than the backside of the Inn being next to loud freeway it was very good. B W breakfast hospitality room was the best. Staff helpful and friendly. Pool area inviting water a little cold. Was there first week in May. Over all I'd stay there again but on the side away from freeway.

It was very nice. I usually stay at another popular chain, which also offers the free breakfast. Best Western was $80 a night cheaper! It was conveniently located close to the 5 freeway, the train station and down town San Juan Capistrano. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Did not have a full kitchen like the other place I have stayed, but never used the full kitchen anyway. Did have a fridge and microwave. Pool area looked clean and inviting. Noticed a washer and dryer on the premises for residence to use. Breakfast was nice, with employee making sure everything was stocked and clean. Definitely a great price for all they offered.

Great stay, clean place, excellent amenities. Only problem was that our reserved room was occupied when we arrived late that night. We were given another room quickly & in the morning before checkout, we advised staff of our inconvenience, & we were very, very fairly compensated in regards to the issue. Thank you so much!

All of the Best Westerns we have stayed at were just perfect for us. Nice amenities. We traveled down the coast of Ca. And stayed at any BW we could located in our timing. Thanks for keeping things updated.

A little expensive but not aber many options is ok.

Not a huge fan of this hotel. Was cheep and worth the cost for a sleep… stayed here for 3 nights. Loud and heavy doors slamming all night long, the hallways and stairs were tile so the sound of rolling suitcases would wake you at all different times in the night. Next door to me were having some kind of party on the Saturday night till about 3am and from 8am to about 3pm on the Sunday there was loud music playing all morning from either the staff or guest. Room was reasonable, clean. Location is really good but wouldn't stay here again!

Our stay at Best Western San Juan Capistrano was very refreshing and enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious, and the room was nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a 5 star experience!

Like a little tropical place right off of the highway. Nice swimming pool very clean and grounds and a breakfast in the morning with great staff and nice eyes clean rooms. I would recommend it to anybody.

For the price, it was a good hotel. Clean which is always a plus but the bed was hard, I don't mind hard beds but they were too hard. The room we stayed in had no comfortable sitting chair, only a desk chair. Pool looked nice but was closed for maintenance, we didn't try the breakfast. Very convenient to nearby popular places to visit and they have a shuttle which is a plus! We'll come back but we checked out early due to the comfort level.

The hotel location was good. But the windows/walls/doors were so thin that you could hear everyone opening and closing doors, talking, cars driving by. I stayed awake for almost an hour and a half after midnight because of a party or something going on downstairs and I could hear the guys and girls laughing, cussing, and talking in the hall while constantly going in and out of their room. Also the shower water backed up while showering. This “hotel” may be good for adults without kids staying only for a night. I would look else where.

The stay here was wonderful! The room was a decent size, beds were comfortable and the breakfast spread had options for every one. Best part was only 10 minutes from the beach. Staff was very welcoming and out going. Will definitely be returning to this property and highly recommend!

Great place to stay when visiting San Juan Capistrano. This hotel has easy access from the freeway. It is clean with pleasant grounds. The staff was very helpful and told us about attractions nearby. The hotel offers a shuttle to drive guests downtown although walking there is also an option for those so inclined. Breakfast offered hot items as well as cereals and waffles and was served in their conference room. The room had a refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable. The price was very reasonable for all that is offered.

The rooms were average and the pool and spa we're small but nice. The real big advantage this hotel had was it's great complementary breakfast and the access to the highway right next to it. The entrance to the parking lot however is not clearly marked and rather easy to miss the first time around.

Making reservations and checking in was very easy. The free breakfast was a reward that saved us close to $50 over the two days stay. Check-out was a breeze. Just leave the key cards in the room and take off. I would highly recommend this Best Western to any one looking to stay in San Juan Capistrano.

This is a good hotel to book if you are around the Dana Point/San Juan Capistrano area. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. I chose room 317 which was in the first floor (double beds instead of 2nd flr queen beds) because of my knees. I love parking in front of my hotel room because We always have the kids and is convenient that way. Breakfast is free and breakfast area is spacey, food is situated in different corners avoiding over crowding. Outdoor pool is decent size for this type of hotel. What I love about it is you are conveniently located near a gas station, fast-food chains that are open 24 hours, restaurants and pharmacies. You are also an exit away from the beach, or can take local streets if traffic is heavy. Staff are courteous and helpful. I took one star off because they are right off the northbound exit and there is no hotel sign big enough for you to see at night to make your entrance to the facility. Should you miss it, you would have to drive u-turns to make it back.

This Best Western is VERY nicely remodeled, easy access, and provided fantastic service! From the check in — by an extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating desk clerk — to the complimentary breakfast and staff, to the housekeeping; our stay was enjoyable. This hotel is pet friendly, and makes sure both pet lovers and "not-so-much" pet lovers are happy. To be honest Best Western is not usually on our radar when traveling. From this experience… it will be from now on. Great job!

We liked it. The rooms were clean and it's located right of highway 74 and highway I-5. There is some maintenance being done, but that really isn't an issue. The morning breakfast is decent. Parking spots go fast. They have a nice, little pool.

Very nice spot to stay. Getting out is a bit hard, as you have to turn right only into traffic and make it over 3 lanes to do a u turn to get to the freeway. The breakfast was better then expected.

This hotel is perfect for a weekend getaway for anyone in Orange County. The rooms are always clean and the staff are very pleasant. Love the pool and jacuzzi! Complimentary hot breakfast served every morning! Have used the shuttle service many times to transport us to the Coach House. We have been coming here for 25 years! Any problems encountered, Robert Qrether and staff handled perfectly! Thank you!

My family enjoyed our night at the hotel. The staff was down to earth and helpful. The room was great. We loved the beds and the internet worked.

The front desk, housekeeping and kitchen staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel well-located. Guest room very comfortable with comfortable beds and everything in working order. Would definitely stay here again!

We have stayed at this hotel a few times. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it for a few reasons. One is that it is close to the 5 freeway with easy access to it and the beach. Also, the hotel itself is comfortable and has an excellent breakfast room. We will definitely be back again when visiting Orange County and my hometown.

Aside from some maintenance issues, it's a fine, economical choice in the area. The peephole in the door was broken/removed, and the hole in the door is stuffed with paper. The chain on the door is broken, but there is a deadbolt, so it's safe.
When you enter your room the first time, check to see the windows are locked. Furniture is dated, but room is clean and adequate. Front desk staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Pool is nice, and there is a hot tub. Convenient location off I-5 and close to downtown SJC and some good restaurants. Overall, I'd recommend.

It's a motel. It's nothing fancy but it was clean and the people are nice. We slept comfortably. It's also a short distance to Ralph's if you need to get anything. It's right next to the freeway so it is convenient. It was a good place to stay. If you're wanting the Waldorf you're going to be disappointed. If you like a nice clean place. This works. Short distance to the mission as well as the beach.

Check in staff were very polite. Rooms were neat and clean upon arrival. Complimentary breakfast was also included. Very nice place to stay overall.

I am a diamond member of Best Western and thought this would be a good place to stay from the reviews on line? I was wrong, 1st is the air conditioning will not stay on. It would shut off and not come back on without unplugging unit. 2nd the complete lack of any form of the door sealing from outside noise or bugs or anything else. The cracks were so large a snake could have come into the room. 3rd the refrigerator was unplugged and took 3 hours to cool down enough to put food into it. 4th the breakfast is a joke. 5th I called the front desk at 10am to see if the room was available for another nite since all hotels in the area were sold out. Or I would have not considered this option, but I was stuck. I was told that they were sold out for the night. I then said I wanted a late check out for noon instead of 11am. I was told no late checkout. I then informed the lady at the desk that as I diamond member I have this option. She put me on hold and then came back and said ok. 6th checked out and asked again if they had any cancelations and was told no they were sold out. 7th I left for lunch thinking about the shabby shape of the hotel and decided to call the diamond number of Best Western and tell them about the situation. I was informed that they do have a room for the night. I would have not considered staying there again but was close to Laguna Beach and again everything else was sold out. I checked in again and this room was worse.

We enjoyed every thing, rooms were very clean, smelled clean, bed very comfortable, breakfast was great, Lori and Jesse that helped us out with anything we required during breakfast were so kind going above and beyond to make us happy, we will definitely stay here again thank you best Western staff. Very easy hotel. Close to great areas and restaurants. We took the train from San Diego and just walked over the freeway from the station. Great price and decent breakfast for free as well. Didn't get to try the pool. Maybe next time.

Great breakfast; cook was obliging with us, when we were a couple of minutes late. Clean rooms, easy check-in. Maids tend to be "pushy" around check-out time — — literally pushing their way in the door, before I had quite finished moving the luggage out. Wow! Night manager very accomodating and pleasant. Overall, a pleasant stay; would book there, again.

Clean rooms, easy check-in/out. Sort of loud however — any walking or running up and down the halls caused shaking and was amplified in the room.

This is a horrible place to stay very poorly managed. I definitely do not recommend anyone staying here. My hotel stay was for 3 nights and 2 days. After my 2nd day there I came back from my meeting at 4, and my room was cleaned and my belongings were still there. But the big issue was my food that I had left in the refrigerator was taken out and thrown away! Now why on earth would the maid take food out of the refrigerator and throw it away?! I understand if I had left it out on the counter or table, but no this was still in the refrigerator. I was so upset I called the front desk and the girl sounded helpful at first and said she will contact the manager and give me a call back. She never called me back, I called back at 6, and there was a guy this time and said he needed to get the maid's story because they didn't believe me. How rude is that?! Why would I need to make up that my food in the refrigerator is missing and that now I'm starving. And you guys are thinking why not go buy some new food, but I was having dinner with a client at 8 pm so I just wanted to snack on my food that I did have in the refrigerator. Well they refused to let me speak to a manager and claimed a manager was there only Monday through Friday 5 am to 330 pm. Now that's ridiculous. Weekends are likely their busiest times and no manager will be on duty for entire weekend? And wow… the managers all leave at 330. Well I called their corporate office on them. Don't stay here!

Horrible room was dirty floors were sticky.

This is a nice, typical southern Cal motel close to the SJC center — and to the Mission — and yet with a beautiful overlooking view of the hills in some of the rooms. We are world travelers so we know what we are talking about — We have been staying at in this motel regularly for the past 15 years! The staff is just delightful, from the receptionists to the housecleaning crew, everybody is very friendly and very courteous! the rooms are very bright, warm, spacious and quiet — but one must avoid the rooms facing the freeway! The price is very correct and the overall accommodations — which are many, and most of them free — are way much better than those we have seen at the more luxurious hotels in town that we have tried. In short we love to stay at the SJCBW because it is like a second home to us when we are in town.

Great hotel and value. Large clean (mostly) room with all the goodies. Wi-Fi that was good reliable and good bandwidth. Flat screen (42 in) mini fridge. My room faced West and looked out at I-5 and had a bit of noise from that always busy freeway. It was also right next to the hotel linen /towel laundry. Good=right next to the main boiler =endless boiling hot water for showers. Bad =a bit noisy at times. Good =endless fresh towels and linens b/c housekeeping staff was there and would let you swap as many as and as often as you wanted. BIG warning. My room 126 I seem to recall was facing I-5. Sunday night at around 6pm the work week starts for the swing shift construction on some major off/on ramp project. Plan on learning a lot about road construction techniques and equipment. Cuz you ain't sleepin'. Still I wasn't originally booked for Sunday night and added it and requested to keep my same room so presume they'd have set me up with a different room had my original booking included Sunday.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! WORST SERVICE IN THE WORLD! I set up a room block for my wedding this summer. Sounds easy enough right? needless to say it has become a disaster! You name it, its gone wrong. My guest tried reserving rooms, never received a call back, the front desk is just totally useless! No on even knew this so called GM was out of town. They have no idea how to run a business. The GM leaves and there is no one who steps into the management role. No one who is able to help guest. I set up a contract for these rooms, had a copy emailed to me and yet my name wasn't in the system! It was a blessing in disguise though because I have found a gorgeous accommodating hotel (NOT THE BEST WESTERN INN) who knows a things or two about customer service! I also continued searching for reviews about this Best Western Inn and everyone complains about the horrible customer service and how dirty the place is. Save yourself the trouble and don't even bother calling them.

The Denny's right next door is GONE.

Awesome place and room smell good.

Nice for price, but OFF-GRID. The rooms and service are excellent for Orange County, but if you need connectivity for work, forget it. GSM cell coverage is horrible and the hotel's Internet access doesn't help: You are sharing a single 12Mbps home link with the entire hotel and the Wi-Fi coverage is minimal/ill-conceived. If they upgraded their Internet access, I would stay frequently, but I can't afford to be this disconnected.
