I found a gem in Ojai when searching for a place to stay while visiting there. The Ojai Retreat Cultural Center is an absolutely SPECTACULAR 5-acre property surrounded by beauty, gardens, botanicals, mountains and nature. The peace, serenity and tranquility of the Ojai Valley is unmatched. In this little slice of heaven I found the perfect place to unplug for quietude and to recharge, focus on my goals, write, read books, commune with nature and enjoy fabulous 360 degree views of heaven on earth.

The Ojai Retreat was an ideal facility for our writing retreat. The various gathering spaces, indoors and out, are beautifully appointed, calming, and welcoming. I stayed in the Garden room and was impressed by the quality and timeless style of the furnishings, how it felt spacious yet cozy, and the proximity to nature—a pair of quail outside one of the many windows in the morning and a stunning view of the valley. The staff were friendly and professional. Just a wonderful experience overall!

I’ve been coming here since 1998, and it is one of my favorite places in the whole world! Sitting on a peaceful mountaintop overlooking the whole valley, you can imagine something like the “fantasy Island” setup, with a main house and lots of guest cottages started around it, each with their own charm. But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts with this place. There is a lovely, gentle, relaxing spirit about this place. No televisions, nothing commercial, just peace and quiet. A wonderful place to recharge your batteries. Healthy and delicious food options abound nearby. Rates are reasonable for the kind of peaceful feeling you get here. Accommodations are simple, clean, and unassuming. Highly recommend!
