I travelled to almost all the states in the USA and more than 20 countries as for now. Probably staying in more than 500 hotels already. I would think this is in my top 5 worst hotel list. Let's start with the most important reason. This hotel was provided by Alaska Airlines because of the delayed flight. The hotel asked me to forward the voucher and I did on the same day (1/2/2022). Later I found that I was charged on 1/3/2022 for full price, and then they go ahead and charge me another full price on 1/15/2022. That means the hotel charged Alaska Airlines and me to 3 times the full price of a room. Let's talk about the room. Best Western Plus should be maybe equal to Holiday Inn level, but Best Western Plus Chena River Lodge was never at the same clean level. It caused us allergy and suffer a bit. The room is not at a good level at the price of 150. I could get few nights in Las Vegas with a price of 150. Last but not the least, this hotel shuttle is slow and could delay your trip between hotel and airport. Be careful when one hotel has no clean room, low service level, and high price. Needed a place to stay and this place fit the criteria, and we were pleasantly surprised by their customer service. We called 2x's before arriving to see if they could shuttle us to our tour near the airport and got mixed responses. Upon arrival we asked again and they assured us they'd get us there. Next morning their shuttle wasn't available but they called us a cab and picked up the tab, we were appreciate that they did that!
Breakfast was sufficient, afternoon cookies were a nice touch.

We stayed here from 11/13/20 to 11/19/20 and it was amazing. Our rooms were clean and well kept, the beds were soft and the staff are so friendly. Rachel on nights and Tommy on the night shift were so good to us. The views there are amazing as well. If I ever get to go back this is where I will stay. Hope to see our new friends Rachel and Tommy again one day. Everyone we met there were so friendly and made our stay fabulous. Thank you from your Mississippi and Alabama guest.

I love staying here. The staff are always kind, respectful, friendly and personable. The rooms are large and clean with superb beds! Close to the airport, easy access to the roads to travel anywhere, breakfast offered daily. One of my absolute favorite places to stay in Fairbanks and usually has the best rates.

Traveling through Fairbanks to get back home and my daughter had to use the bathroom very badly. The two females at the desk said no, they aren’t allowed to let people use the bathroom. Wow. Like wow. Have some human compassion. A little girl had to use a restroom. Absolutely disgraceful.

Friendly staff & big clean room. I also like that the room had a refrigerator & a microwave & the hotel offers a complimentary airport transfer. I will definitely stay here again & will recommend it to my family & friends!

Well so far so good, the lady that checked us in had a room available for us so we were able to check in early.

Great staff, nice clean room, efficient on fixing a minor problem with the heat, awesome breakfast selection. Coffe and tea available all day and night. I highly recommend. Very close to everything we wanted to see.

This is a basic hotel in the Fairbanks area. We slept here one night while waiting for a 1:00 AM flight. We were satisfied with the hotel. It was quiet and clean.

Overall a nice hotel. Bed is decent. Pillows a little thin but that can be worked with. The toilet seems to not be 100% clean but that is probably related to the design. Overall would stay here again.

Nice hotel to stay at before catching train to Denali. Shuttle from airport and to train depot included. Rooms are very nice, quiet, and comfortable. Good breakfast in the morning.

This property is bad for the Best Western Plus brand. I stayed here several years ago for an extended period. At that time it was well kept. This time, the issues started at check-in. I had reserved a room 2 months prior, arrived late at night and the first room I was assigned had not been cleaned. Beds were unmade, towels on the floor etc. The next room, where I stayed, had beds that sank in the middle, drawers that were broken and unusable and a broken rod on one side of the curtains. There was a single bar of soap. Shampoo, lotion etc were in little things mounted to the wall and were of poor quality. It was one notch up from a Motel 6 that I stayed in in Wyoming for three times the price! The first morning, despite having placed the "Do not disturb" placard in the key card slot, housekeeping banged on my door and opened it. Thank goodness for the safety "chain" lock at the top which prevented the door from opening more than a few inches!

Very comfortable stay! Very clean and staff are very friendly who were very accommodating helping us find some tourist attractions to do. Breakfast was also included.

Love the staff of the Best Western who were friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The breakfast was terrific with great coffee and bagels that tasted better than Long Island bagels! BUT… the pillows and msttresses need to be updated.

Nice clean room can't complain. Basin was seperate to main bathroom which is great.

The price was right for Fairbanks. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room but it was clean. The pillows were a little thin so you had to use 2 of them together but the bed was comfortable. The housekeeping did the very minimum of replacing towels and emptying trash only. The grab and go early breakfast wasn't ready and the midnight clerk handed me a yogurt and my husband a banana. We had to leave to catch an early tour, so we just took what she offered as we didn't have time for her to do anything else. The highlight of the stay was Dexter. He made sure the breakfast area was clean and well supplied. He was quick to serve you in any way he could; such as pouring your coffee or tea or helping with the waffle maker. Overall, the hotel met our needs as we just needed a place to sleep at night. They did have a laundry area which we appreciated and utilized.

The room was large and clean, and the location near the airport was great for our early flight. However, the bed was extremely soft and squeeky, the pillows were lumpy and half the size of standard pillows, and there was no comforter on the bed — just a dingy old blanket wrapped in sheets.

The place is clean, and I think read it properly at a two-star. There is not a whole lot in Fairbanks to Gage by but I would stay at this hotel again.

This is a very nice hotel, located across from Walgreens, Fred Myers, some eating places, etc. I had a car, so very easy for me to get around to some of the local things — Univ of Alaska, North Pole, and just a drive about. The room was comfortable and the breakfasts very good.

The room is nice and big, it's not too far from the airport either which is nice. The bed was just OK, I've had worse, but I've also had better. The bathroom was nice but my wife noticed some possible mold in the shower. All in all, not bad for the price, but I've definitely been in better rooms.

This is a great place to stay, I stayed here during the winter and the room was warm And quiet. I will stay here again on my next trip and others to follow. This hotel has a great location and is very convenient to get to and from anything in town. The location was very clean and the staff is very friendly.

Best Western Plus Chena River Lodge provides great value for a stay at Fairbanks, AK. It offers free airport shuttle which is both convenience and makes my group felt secure. It offers free breakfast. The price is right. It is at a location across Fred Meyer (an everything store) that one can easily get food and provisions. The tour companies include this hotel as a pick up location. It is not far from downtown Fairbanks, one can easily get a ride to restaurants or other destinations. One will be happy to stay at BW Chena River Lodge unless you desire luxury and a lot of amenities.

Our first floor room was way too hot (80°). We weren't comfortable opening the window on a ground floor asked to switch rooms the next night. We got one that smelled bad on the second floor. At least we could open the window on an upper level to air it out. Breakfast was good!

Good price, within walking distance to many stores. I have always been happy with the standards of Best Western. I feel that you know what to expect before you get there.

Love this lodge, walking distance to Fred Myers, and Walgreens. The staff were super, the rooms were nice, and close enough to Train and Airport.

Unfortunate things happened. In the morning, we went to reception to pay for an extension of booking for one night since we haven’t seen aurora borealis for the past days we stayed here in fairbanks but we were push to checked out because of no availability of rooms. Two days ago, (night time) we informed the receptionist that we would love to extend for one night for the reason above, and she assured us that it isn’t a problem; we even asked for the nightly rate and she said the same price will apply since they aren’t allowed to change the price. We thought everything is fine and that we are okay to extend. We planned our lazy day today only in the hotel to rest, but we have to quickly packed our bags coz your staff gave us only 40mins to leave; they were accommodating coz they even offered us a transport and called your sister hotel. I have no complaints of your staff, they are all amazing but they should have informed us earlier regarding the transfer. We could have prepared early and could have done the pictorials early for my birthday. We don’t care if your sister hotel could offer a lesser price than your hotel, we can afford your nightly rating. But that is so rude and unacceptable to kick us, as if we couldn’t afford your services. Me and my sister has been working with an airline industry which means we know how customer service works.

Close to airport with free shuttle. Very relaxing after the midnight flight. Room are large and clean with all necessary facilities. Staff are friendly.

My husband stayed here from 1/26-1/29. He went to Fairbanks to go shopping for food and stayed here because it's close to Fredmeyers. When he left he forgot 100$s worth of meat in the fridge. I called and asked if it was still there. The guy I talked to said it was there and told me they hold personal belongings for 2 weeks then throw it away. I told him I was gunna look for someone to go get the meat and he said that was fine.
When I found someone to get the meat the guy I talked to was gone and the workers and house keepers said they didn't find anything in the room my husband stayed in.

My room was very clean upon entering, parking was not much of an issue, close to stores, good service overall. I will return.

The hotel located at a very nice area. Supermarket and gas station is just across the street. The room was decent, pretty clean. The only downside is I stay for 3 days but on the 2nd day, the housekeeping did not tidy our bed, but they did it on the next day. Breakfast was okay and customer service was good.

Internet is pretty fast. Laundry is 3 dollars per load, kinda expensive. Otherwise no complaints. Remember to bring your own extension cord for the block warmer in the winter.

Though local in Fairbanks, the service of this hotel extends to both local and visitor is very good… what I liked about the hotel was the prompt attention to making sure an airport shuttle was at the hotel at the time that I requested… and with the roads being in winter condition this service is invaluable. Staff was both friendly and professional which is a rare commodity with some hotel chains (both economic and high end) … winter rates are below the average.

Very comfortable, clean and excellent attention.
The location is very good, close to the airport, and the public transport service can take us to any part of the city and the surroundings by just crossing the avenue to make use of it.
On the other side of the avenue, you will find a Walgreens Farmacio and a super very complete Mayer, which is important if you are going to stay several days.
They have alert service for Northern Lights, which will warn you at any time when they occur… That's sensational.
The food they serve at breakfast can be improved.

Good if you’re a smoker. Not good if you’re not. My non-smoking room actually smelled so strongly I kept waking up all night long. The staff and facilities were all good enough, but be warned that non-smoking doesn’t actually mean smoke-free at this hotel.

The staff were very polite and helpful. The location is easy to get to from the airport and grocery stores are near by. The room was clean though our bathroom smelled as if someone had just been smoking.

The hotel was very clean and modern. Kasper was working the front desk and he was able to find rooms and get our party of 13 people checked in quickly, and gave us some great pointers about the area. Definitely recommend staying here.

Really enjoy staying here. Although I have been almost persecuted by overzealous breakfast workers, who were omelette Nazis and very, VERY strict about the amount of food allowance per guests. So I wouldn't call it an "all u can eat" contenental breakfast since you are literally policed by the attendant the whole time. It was even my birthday one year while staying there and I woke up STARVING… I wanted VERY much for the first meal of my bday to be plentiful. I didn't have knowledge of the strictly enforced one per guest rule which makes you choose between either 2 Belgium waffles (w/ a nice assortment of topping such as strawberries and whipped cream) OR a smallish sized omelette (which also had a nice selection of ingredients to choose from, including ham, a variety of fresh-ish diced veggies). After I decided to get a single waffle which my friends smothered in berries and cream then topped off w/ a handful of lit candles, I was still ravishingly hungry so I went to try to get an omelette as well, which was when I was educated on the food allowance. I was not able to get the omelette, not even when my friends informed her that it was my b-day. I thought this employee was taking the rule a little more seriously than necessary. I, of course, accepted the rejection only to Still be brought an omelette by my friend.

The worst Best Western I have ever stayed in will not come back to this place. Couldn't get the room we wanted because they didn't get cleaned the room we did get was dirty and had stuff broken.

Great place to stay. Close to airport, walking distance to Walgreens (across street, safeway (caddy corner) and Taco Bell (across street). Staff is super friendly and will call you if there are northern lights! Def would stay here again. Breakfast was great too!

This hotel is very clean. The staff are pleasant. Complementary breakfast is good enough I decided to not go out for breakfast. The king size room I have is comfortable. Fitness room is just right. Overall this is a outstanding hotel.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Room was very nice and clean. It was a quiet hotel with nice public areas to gather. Breakfast was just ok. Staff went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. Good location.

I have to say, the hotel staff went above and beyond for my request. The front desk manager and associates went to extraordinary lengths to help with my proposal and engagement by decorating our room and helping plan the most memorable evenings of our life!

Do Not book with this hotel. We were left waiting at the airport for 45 minutes for a shuttle service and was told Eagle cab or Yellow taxi service was the only ones we could use. They said they would be there for us very quickly. Neither showed up after many many calls and there was over 9 of us waiting total. 3 other women had been told the same thing! There was other taxi cabs at the airport waiting in line but we were not allowed to get in because the hotel would not honor the free shuttle if we had used another service. After the long wait with my elderly grandparents and children crying we were picked up and taken to the hotel that was only literally 3 minutes away! Totally undependable, uncalled for and highly disappointed. We talked with other people who heard us complaining at the front desk and they also received the same experience of being stranded at the airport with no shuttle to pick them up. The taxi service associated with this hotel is highly unreliable! Extremely rude dispatcher.

The hotel was great. The housekeeping staff was very unprofessional. My wedding ring was stolen by a housekeeper and the staff helped her get out of the building before the police arrived. So she couldn't be searched. Manager made excuses for the behavior. But if she didn't steal my ring why did she run? Ring still hasn't been found. I don't recommend this hotel.

If you want something stolen then stay here. My sister and I stayed for 6 nites. The only day we had house keeping come in and clean, my cross necklace dissapeared. It was a gift from my husband who is suffering from cancer and it meant alot to me. I reported it missing and absolutely nothing was done about it. I was told by the manager that she would contact the owner and see if I could be compensated. She had my contact info as I had to return to washington. I waited 6 weeks without hearing from her. I called the hotel and was told manager was there until I told them what I needed to talk with her about. Then she was busy. I was told she would return my call. Of course she didnt. So unless you want something that means alot to you stolen, then absolutely do not stay here!

Terrible experience! Blood on the wall when I checked in. Toilet wasn't cleaned. Soap and lotion wasn't filled. I asked multiple times for it to be changed and they wouldn't do it. They had a card to fill out requests and even though I filled it out every day, they still didn't do what I asked. The door knob was broken. I asked for it to be changed and they said just push harder. I had to beg and explain that I have young kids that couldn't push the lock button before they would change it. The water early in the morning was cold for my shower. The heater in my room didn't work. My pillow had a stain on it and I asked for it to be changed and they wouldn't do it even though I stayed there for 5 days. I found other people's hair in my sheets and found out that they forgot to change my sheets. I reported it to the front desk multiple times and they still wouldn't do anything about it. They were friends with the cleaning crew and wouldn't report them to management or fix any of the problems. The toilet was also broken. Terrible stay and I won't go back. I have been to fairbanks many times and this was the worst hotel I have been to. The only good thing was the hot breakfast they had downstairs.

Its a great property and very well maintained. The staff is very professional and well mannered. If I ever go back to Fairbanks that is where I am staying again.

Worst hotel experience I have ever had. And we live in remote alaska and are used to rough conditions! day shift as well as night shift had terrible customer service. WE ARRIVED 11/13/13. The hotel had no electricity. My husband hauled our luggage up 3 flts of stairs in pitch black darkness. We could not take a shower. I could not fix my hair nor put on any makeup due to being in the pitch blackness. My cell phone had just enough illumination for us to see the roll of toilet paper. There was no breakfast or coffee as supposed to be provided. No emergency lighting. Or exit signs were illuminated (which is very dangerous! ). When I asked if we were going to be able to get a discount I was told. No "god is not giving us a discount! ". We will never ever go there again.

A very good business to deal with. They do a great job at helping organize my trips there every year. Well priced, friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for 3 weeks, this is how they all should be run. I will recommend this hotel to any one in the area.
