Cobb Lane B&B was very cozy. Sheila was kind and welcoming.

This is like walking back in time into a sugar coated dream and you will literally sleep like a princess. There is a though behind every single detail and you can not feel more welcome than you do here.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I had seen the warning signs in earlier reivews that the Owner was Rude. Our reservation was for a nearby bed and breakfast owned by the same woman. However, the place was attractive so I made a reservation. Huge Mistake that has put a serious damper on my honeymoon. Long story short, we got here about 7:30, and there was no one to let us in. Called and texted the number on the door for the owner and got no response. I called and texted 10 minutes later. Then a third time. She NEVER called me back. On the forth call to tell her we have had to take a room at a nearby hotel she finally answered. Her entire manner for having ignored us while she finished dinner was rude and dismissive. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT STAY HERE!

I did not stay at the bed and breakfast so my review will not pertain to that. I will write about the customer service I experienced with Sheila, the owner. In a short, it was disgusting. One our travelers took a business trip, and I am in charge of collecting ACCURATE receipts and reconciling charges. There was a discrepancy with a charge that was made on the behalf of Sheila. She thought she charged the traveler 268.00 for the duration of her stay. Instead, it was 258.00. She thinks that 119 x 2 + 30 = 258.00, which is how she hand wrote it on the original receipt. The original receipt even showed 258.00 so that is what I have to go off of. I had to contact her multiple of times to try to get things corrected. She informed me whatever she gave me is what I have to use, and if I did attempt to contact her, she will not answer my call. Usually an owner is helpful and tries to get things resolved. Nope not Sheila! Instead, she hangs up the phone in your face. Now the organization has flagged the error and sent the document back to me and expects me to solve this issue when the owner cannot even be contacted! I do not want a refund. I just want her to re-send an e-mail that has correct breakdowns for the charges that occurred during the travelers stay! For example. 119 x 2 + 20 = 258.00 After reading the other reviews, I am not surprised by how she handled my problem. She wants you to come to her directly and discuss the problems you are having.

This was perfect for a romantic weekend. This house was actually built in 1898! I took my girlfriend here on Saint Patrics Day. We absolutely loved it. We stayed in The Camellia Room. It was the only downstairs bedroom, which was great for night time privacy. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the bathroom was across the hallway. It was like stepping back in time. The antique furniture and atmosphere were just what I was looking for to set a perfect romantic mood. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great too. We will most definitely stay here again!

Nobody there to let us in when we arrived. Private bathroom was across passage to kitchen. Not as clean as it should have been.

Basing this on value, this was a great stay. Have stayed better places, but paid way more for it. Room was secluded and nicely decorated. Breakfast was above avg and the location is ideal. It’s right downtown, across from a police station. We look forward to going back and staying again soon.

Stayed here a few weeks ago and still trying to find an excuse to go back! The house is stunning! We had a wonderful time just taking in all the detail inside! Breakfast was delicious and served by a very sweet lady, didn’t catch her name though.

The so called Sheila never shown up, been waiting two hours out of the front door, at first she took the call and no one after that, bad, bad, bad!

We have found a new get away! Thank you so much for all the hospitality and beautiful place to stay!

We stayed in the Rose room — and frankly, I've not slept so well in years! There's something about older houses that says: "Many people have slept here, tested it out, and now you can get some rest. " The owner, Shelia, is an amazing Southern hostess — polite, witty, and welcoming. If you want a Dixie Downton Abbey experience, this is for you! There are chandeliers and fireplaces and tufted furniture everywhere. I'm smitten.

So cute and historic. Loves all the pictures and the food was amazing.

Quaint, comfortable, and charming all typify Cobb Lane B&B. The location near UAB and restaurants complements the stay. Sheila seems a bit disorganized compared to the big hotels, but accommodates her guests just fine. There's no better value in Birmingham for lodging.

Highly recommend staying here if you're in Birmingham and want a unique experience. The location is safe, located in the 5 points area, with good, walkable (or Uber) choices for food / entertainment. Sheila, the owner, knows a great deal about the history of the area as she has been involved in the growth of the community for many years. Her B&B is beautifully restored. Breakfast great!

We'd never been to a B&B before, so this was our first. It was beautiful and the breakfast was great. The second morning we didn't make it up for breakfast but Miss Shelia kept food set aside for us and it was heated up and served once we got up there. We stayed in the zebra room, which has its own private entrance and porch so it was very nice. Only downside was that we were below the kitchen so there was no sleeping in, once they got up and moving around to cook breakfast you heard everything. But we really liked the stay and we would be back, the biggest negative for us was parking. There was not many spaces and sometimes you just couldn't get a spot.

Absolutely awesome location, and very hospitable and friendly place. Very different and way more charming than the corporate hotels, and is another enriching element to my travel. Note location on Google map is incomplete, there's multiple properties, call to get the correct address. All hotels in BHM run around $90-130 but offer just the same as every other hotel, this was an experience worth it by itself. I travel for a living and was so glad to do something different with this overnight.

Absolutely gorgeous! Beautifully decorated in Victorian style, nice breakfast, welcoming hosts.

Called to ask questions on booking, got one question answered about rent age and was immediately hung up on upon my question being answered! Did not even give me a chance to have a business with them. Rude customer service, Glad I ended up not staying with them.

Today a professional photographer friend of mine tried to book the place for a photoshoot and was treated MONSTROUSLY by the owner — who tried to insinuate that his reason for booking the place was not for fashion/art photography, but for PORN. It is unbelievable that a business owner would make such a heinous assumption about someone who wanted to use their facilities. The owner should've been GRACIOUS and HONORED that someone like him wanted to shoot there. Instead. What has happened is that everyone who ever wanted to work with him now knows where NOT to take a vacation. Have you SEEN the tacky zebra carpet in their room? no wonder they thought of porn when they thought of photography. They obviously have ZERO TASTE in interior decorating. Such low-class people do not deserve your business. A business owner THAT RUDE should not be running a bed and breakfast in Alabama, they don't apparently know the meaning of HOSPITALITY at ALL.

The owner was so rude and hateful over the phone when I called to make my reservation that, as interested as I was, I will NEVER go to this location.

Cobb Lane B&B is hardly a ten minute drive from downtown Birmingham, very close to the university campus, and parking was easy because there is room for at least a few cars in their driveway. The hosts were accommodating, breakfast was tasty and healthy, and I will try to stay there again on my next trip to Birmingham.
