Albergue la Estacion Santiago de Compostela Hostel

We stayed here twice whilst in Santiago. Once was a complete serendipitous moment when I was forced to take a rest day on the Camino de Santiago. The hostel owner, Miguel, was incredibly kind and helpful. He helped me clean my blisters by making me a sanitizing solution to soak my feet. Then, he made me a platform to rest my feet at an elevated angle. He even dressed up as a medieval pilgrim to cheer me up. Despite us staying at another hostel the following day, he did not rush me to wake early and got his friend to give us a ride to the hospital because he had to take his car to the garage. Furthermore, he lent me a walking pole so that I had two for the last leg of my journey and let me keep half of the weight of my bag in his hostel. We returned once we had finished our walk and he, again, made us feel welcome, safe, and at peace. We bought him a Santiago tart, which he shared with us and others in the hostel. In addition to Miguel's excellent hospitality and genuine caring spirit, especially for pilgrims, the hostel itself is clean, safe and secure. There is space for you to leave your possessions safely in lockers (free). The bathrooms and bedrooms are all very spacious and clean. There is also a kitchen/sitting area with a dining table. After experiencing various hostels along the Camino, and in Santiago, Albergue La Estacion was hands down the best one on the Camino.

Private albergue, 15€. The owner is really helpful with your problems. It's a bit far from the center of Santiago but next to the station. Small rooms with lots of beds. Kitchen complete. It also has some lockers where you can keep your stuff. Pharmacy and supermarket nearby.

Miguel is a great Hospitalero, and have a clean and order hospicius.

I arrived in Santiago after 38 days of walking the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied-de-Port injured and needing a place to rest and heal. Alberuge La Estacion was the perfect place to stay. Miguel was warm and welcoming. He offered my ice for my swollen leg, a foot bath for my blisters, and even a ride in his car to get back to the city center. He is most helpful and kind and goes out of his way to assist Pilgrims and make the stay like being at home. The Albergue is clean, quiet, and with all the amenities that you could need. We are allowed use of the computer to help in our planning and I enjoyed watching the futbol final game on the TV in the lounge area. The kitchen is good for cooking meals. I would highly recommend staying at Albergue La Estacion! Thank you Miguel for your hospitality. I am very grateful!

Excellent treatment of great conditions unbeatable locations… an unforgettable experience, thank you for everything!

It is not a good hostel, it is the best and Miguel is second to none thank you for helping us finish our journey, I hope to come back.

Located on a quiet back street and close to the train station and airport bus stop. The staff were friendly and the lockers were a great place to leave yours bags while you explore the town. The alberger was spotlessly clean and I note the above pictures are out of date as the place has a relaxed feel. You can also was and dry your cloths :-) Kenneth.

The best hostel, and the hospitable very good. I will come back to see you. It will be the way of miguel and santiago I will go to see you the two. Thanks friend. I recommend it fully.

We could have accessed the very center of Santiago but decided on this occasion to move away from the most touristic area and hit 100%. A quiet place, super clean and all the services you may need and most importantly the attention of Miguel. He took care of a couple of small backpacks while we made the Camino, plus his help was crucial to be able to get to our flight back home. In 10 deserved without any doubt.

This was a cool, fun and extremely friendly hostel with a very homely and relaxed atmosphere. A guitar sits in the comfortable lounge ready and waiting for anyone to start a singsong.
I loved the decor and the cleanliness and security. I was invited to partake in two separate group meals during my one night stay! I was also treated to a traditional 'cleansing' ritual which involved flames, drinks and an invocation of the good witches. All very entertaining. A well run hostel by Miguel who is dedicated to his hospitality!
