Right for the time I booked until we left to come home, yesterday, Lauren from By The Way Guesthouse was the perfect host. Everything from the “this is how to check in” messages before we left, to the “drive safely” call on our way, right to the smallest details of the load shedding schedule. It was such a wonderful relaxing experience. The rooms are spacious, the views are incredible and the breakfast is scrumptious! I highly recommend this as the place to stay when in Clarens!

Amy was the most amazing women I have met, she saw to every need went far and beyond to make our stay worth while it was the best honeymoon ever and she had a great role in it. MOST AMAZING Coffee, lovely food and wonderful staff. The room we stayed in is far above magnificent a definite must go I will recommend this place to everyone.

We had an amazing Christmas Lunch here. We felt so welcomed and were looked after very well by Amy and Juan. Mimosas on arrival, delicate trout starters and a Christmas Buffet feast with a modern twist. Yum, Yum, Yum. Would highly recommend By The Way for those who are looking for accomodation that is a little different from the rest in town. Stylish, modern and Pinterest worthy.

Beautiful neat and cozy accommodation for a small family or a romantic getaway for 2 — Delicious breakfasts and cakes but most of all, Amy is a superb host! She really went out of her way to keep us comfortable and happy. Thank you for making our anniversary such a memorable one! We'll definitely be back for more.

This is hands down the best guest house I have been to in about 10 years! Breakfast in bed, amazing staff and the owner Amy is just amazing! It’s such a good find we are actually planning a trip just to go back to the guest house!
If you want to sleep in a 5 star hotel at a affordable price this is definitely it!

Beautiful guest rooms, including a basic kitchen area and fitted with a fireplace. Delicious food and very friendly staff!

Amy is the best host, extremely kind and willing to walk the extra mile. Our room was so stylish. The Guesthouse is perfectly situated, close to everything. The breakfast in the morning, is AMAZING, and directly delivered to your door. Great place will definitely be back in future!

By the way guesthouse is the perfect little home away from home. It's warm and cozy and the breakfast is amazing. It's clear how much thought and care goes into running this guesthouse. Amy is an absolute darling and gives great advice on all the best spots in town. We had a really great experience in Clarens and would recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Clarens.

Amy gave us a discounted rate as we were on honeymoon, and on top of that she assured us she would cater to our vegan requirements for breakfast. The room was so spacious & homely. The weather was cold but she has heaters & blankets readily available. Amy even gave us a carton of almond milk for tea and coffee. The view was amazing we looked right onto the mountain on the one side, and the rest of Clarens on the other, it was lovely. Breakfast the next was morning was spectacular, it is delivered in a basket to the room, she made us toasted ciabattas with sautéed mushrooms, tomatoes, caramelised onions & parsley. The basket also contained fruit bowls, muesli, filter coffee & fruit juices for the both of us. As it was valentine’s days she also popped in two small chocolates! As a guest, Amy also gives vouchers for discounted activities / restaurants around the area. We were able to go on a mountain biking trail & then enjoy 2 free drinks at Clarens Brewery. We also had a discounted lunch in town on her behalf. Free Wi-Fi is provided, but it is capped & only limited to one device. That was a tad disappointing, but we only required it for researching the area. The Vegan breakfast & great service really made this place a winner for us. We stayed another night! Highly recommend this guest house.

The rooms were spacious and very well decorated, the Breakfasts were incredible and the staff were very friendly. A special thanks to Roxanne for also being so helpful and attentive.

The service of the staff was a pleasant experience and the breakfast was good. The guest house is on the older side but the room was clean and tidy. On the whole, good value for money.

My Wife and I stayed here in november 2017. What a great experience, the accomodation was clean the breakfast great. We would like to give a special thanks to Roxanne who went out of her way for us, Thank you for booking our table at at Clemintines for us. We had a great meal and great night out. Nice place… The breakfast is presented well. Not for everyones taste and choice. Best to ask what they will be serving and if you cant request something different.

Long weekend breakaway. Absolute comfort.

Beautifully decorated apartments with all the amenities you could need. A little noisy due to the main road nearby but not a problem at night. My girlfriend has been to Clarens several times before and was of the opinion that this little gem is the best place so far. We were pleasantly surprised!

The most beautiful, comfortable, spacious bed and breakfast you can go to. The breakfast is delicious and the mountain view is something else. It's a place where you will never forget and want to go again and again once you stay once.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We were greeted by friendliness and homeliness. It is walking distance from everything in Clarence. Great place to stay while exploring the Golden Gate Routes.

Sometimes the hotel gods are shining down on you and they certainly were last weekend. Our original hotel had double booked our room so Amy at By the Way stepped in to help. Oh boy did we hit the jackpot!
Our room was spacious, clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. It's the attention to detail that can make the difference between a good place and a great place. Amy, you have a GREAT place.
Breakfast wasn't just food, it was an experience. Delivered to our room in a basket it was like Christmas, discovering all the delicious treats presented in individual jars. A fantastic way to start the day.
Amy is warm and welcoming. Her team are full of smiles. We can thoroughly recommend By the Way to anyone visiting Clarens.
We are hoping to return to South Africa in 2018 and a visit to By the Way in Clarens will be on our list.
