The best thing about the hotel was the view from our room which was on the top floor (king suite with ocean view) however if there are people swimming in the pool they might think you are watching them instead of admiring the view so slightly awkward. The hotel is far as from luxury as it presents itself, it is run down, dirty & in desperate need of a refurbishment. The elevator is ridiculously small & clunky. While we had a fridge in our room, we don’t believe it worked as nothing was cold in the morning. This is the only place that I know that charges for hot drinks with the Continental breakfast which also does not include any hot food, certainly not worth the price of $25 per person. No cutlery or plates or extra towels for the pool were supplied in the room either. I would not stay here again.

Staff at desk plesant to deal with. Room clean but rough and in need of desperate repairs. Loud noise in my room all night so didnt get alot of sleep which I needed for a long drive the next day. Called reception to let them know, but nothing was done. Bathroom smelt like mould. Will be a nice place once done up.

Very poor vale for money place possibly resulting from covid pandemic. Comfortable room, terrible breakfast, unfriendly service from checkin. Have cancelled a future booking.

Extremely rude desk clerk, Daniel when I requested assistance — appalled at his poor behaviour and I agree with Alistair — I will never recommend or use this hotel again!

Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk and in the restaurant. Spacious room with good amenities. Great for a weekend away.

Rude and officious desk clerk refused to let a young guest into her (fully paid for in advance) room and was quite happy to leave her in tears on a very wet day. Refused to take a credit card bond by phone. Disgusting customer service, this guy does not belong in the hospitality industry. Will never use this place again.

I felt that the hallways were cold, no heaters on. The carpets were disgusting and it is badly in need of a paint. The bedroom was not bad.

Only eaten at the hotel. Wont book again.

Access and egress takes a bit of getting used to but this dog-eared old rabbit warren works well … good sized rooms, a great shower and helpful staff. Thanks.

Don’t even make a booking here, we tried to cancel a booking due to family emergency, within 45 minutes of booking online, but they refused a refund, with Deano saying it’s too bad, it’s not their policy (obviously don’t want to be helpful). Not a business.

The hotel is bad. Matress metal springs out, no electrical outlet near beds, no exhaust fan in the toilet, balcony not even, pillows are old and flat. No enough parking.

Less than I expected. Room not too good. Bed springs are out and pillows are uncomfortable. Toilet does not have an exhaust.

Good place to stay, large rooms and close to the city centre.

Very clean and comfortable and central in a quaint and delightful seaside town from which we also took a beautiful afternoon cruise through Queen Charlotte Sound.

Good location for bars and restaurants.

We booked two rooms here we got room 110 which was an awful room sink and bathroom chipped and shoddy, Mattresses didn’t fit the beds, dated amenities, The other room was newly refurbished and modern we paid the same price for both yet despite there being empty rooms that side we were told by the receptionist “Sorry you booked before the refurb” terrible service awful rooms!

The location is good and very convenient for the ferry however the room was tiny, very hot and the whole hotel just looks very shabby and run down. Pillows are very thin.

Lovely. Just would appreciate a toaster and a couple of plates and knives …

Very poor management I booked a room with my credit card online and got my credit card number wrong but it still sent me a confirmation so they called me to correct it and ended up booking 2 rooms somehow. I only wanted one room ended up having to pay for 2 because I didn't cancel the 2nd room I didn't know I had. They weren't even fully booked that night too. Just disappointed.

Friendly staff, very comfortable clean room. Breakfast was superb. Great for overnight stay or longer.

While not flashy, the accomodation was clean, comfortable, plenty parking for our long can and longer trailer even though in central town. Staff helpful. Only let down was we found several components of our meals a bit over salted. To their credit they did quickly replace the salad we specifically spoke up about. This is out second visit. And would stay again if in Picton.

The hotel itself is equal to a 2 star qualmark property. The front office staff dont explain half the charges you will find on your bill and refuse to let you pay on arrival. The restaurant serves incredible meals, the food and beverage staff deserve 5 stars. The chef should get 10 stars!

Really lovely place to stay. There isn’t a whole lot to do in Picton, but this little yacht club was a pleasant surprise. Loved the waterfall shower and the beds were very comfy. Walking distance to the interisland ferry and to the main part of town.

Recently travelled down to the National Brass Band contest being held in Blenheim. Howick Brass stayed at the Picton Yacht Club and were looked after admirably. Warm comfortable rooms, fabulous breakfasts and dinners that we all looked forward to. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff made us feel very welcome. Thank you for looking after us all.

Arrived last night for a 5 night stay. I was on a corporate booking. Yet the receptionists still insisted I give her MY credit card details. Of course I refused! Got to the room, sparsely furnished nowhere to lay my case, you except on the floor. Internet access is a joke, too slow to be of any practical use. Went down for breakfast this morning looking for just a bowl of cereal, some toast and marmalade. When I asked the guy that served me for "a bowl of cereal" he did not know what I was talking about and had to go and ask his mate in the kitchen. They did not have any cereal, I did get toast but they did not have marmalade. What a joke! I travel round New Zealand staying in lots of hotels for my work. This is by far the worst hotel I've been in for a very long time.

No complaints and very well priced. We paid just over $100 for a king room with Ocean views. This was in May, so off peak of course.

Friendly staff and big clean comfortable rooms. Good value when everything is considered and would stay there again.

Very nice hotel with a lovely view of the harbour. You can see the ferries coming in and out. It's very close to the ferry access as well.

Very confusing set out of rooms. Room ok, balcony overlooking the harbour, but no air conditioning which was not good. Just an electric fan, which didn’t really cool the room on a 28C day, with the sun blaring into the room.
Travelling as a fairly large group in coach I appreciate the catering can be difficult… but the dinner we were served was atrocious! Served in the so-called Conference Centre (it was like a shed). Just salad leaves as a starter; Main course either a dried up herb crusted fish or a barely cooked, not just rare, and extremely fatty supposedly sirloin beef, with thick gravy that would give Marmite a run for its money! The fresh fruit salad was tinned, the apple crumble ran out half way through. Very poor wine list…
I can’t go on anymore but the breakfast, after our tour manager really complained, was better.

Nice staff but the hotel has its best times behind it. The rooms were very clean. The bathroom was very run down. Some dirty sheets on the beds.

Loved staying here in our spacious hotel room, nice decor and very comfortable. The hallway is a bit drab but looks like they are working on it. Bit of paint clean carpet and some wall art would do the trick. The only negative is the magnolia tree outside our second floor room needs an urgent cut back. Blocking some of our view. Other than that we will definitely stay again. So central to cafes and shops and ferry. Back in Picton to catch the ferry on the 8th Jan magnolia tree hasnt been trimmed. Disappointing We will book into hotel next time we stay.

We were very disappointed with our one-night stay here. We could only get a family budget room, so there was a small double bed and two single beds. Plenty of space and towels for two people, and at least the hot water was hot (but would have been dangerously hot for children). However the standard was appalling. The room was tired and shabby, the door curtain was falling off its track, the bathroom was disgusting. There was mould in the shower, the grouting was black with it. The basin was chipped and cracked, best used with closed eyes. The shower was lethal, every so often the hot water became scalding — absolutely out of the question for a young family. We were told that breakfast was from 8am to 10am. We arrived just before 9am to find the hot food congealing in cold containers. The chef had already gone and apparently nobody in the kitchen was allowed or qualified to heat anything up. The cooked meats and cheese were covered in flies and had obviously been out for a very long time. The only bread available for toast was white sliced. The poor supervisor was distraught as she could do nothing to help everyone complaining. Americans arriving after 9am got nothing except toast and cereal and referred to it as ‘Fawlty Towers’, they were appalled. We couldn’t get away from this hotel fast enough.

Great stay. Would go back in a heart beat. Room was clean and tidy and comfortable. Team there were all friendly and helpful.

Would not recommend this hotel to stay at. The receptionist was friendly and polite. However the standard of the rooms and cleanliness was not up to standard for the room rate. Room 317 stay away from. Photos are deceiving.

Only went for dinner but the atmosphere and food was great. Tad on the expensive side but to be expected for the views and service.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, the service is great. However the noise of people opening and closing doors had us up at all hours. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great hotel and nice staff however no AC units in room it's fan only in the summer.

Nice and tidy rooms, fairly modern. I had a good view of the harbour over a car park. Didn't try the bar or restaurant so can't comment on those. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Decent place to stay for a night, taking into account the other options in picton. Pros: cozy room, fairly new and modern. Free Wi-Fi that actually works. Good breakfast Nice swimming pool. Cons: No A/C in the room, only fan provided. Room service options very limited. The toilet was more brightly lit than the room itself, needs a brighter main room light. Overall, a good place to rest before you move on with your journey.

Friendly receptionist The room was clean but the entire floor and linen smelled like fried onions It was extremely hot 32 degrees outside, the room was not ventilated, stuffy and very hot … Luckily we were moving to the north island so had a table fan in the car that we used to cool up that night I think this place needs air conditioning Thanks for having us anyways.

Incredibly over priced for what it is. The restaurant/room service is a joke too.

Only stayed one night before translating into the sounds and for that the hotel is well suited. It is all clean, but, partly due to the probably older carpet, seems kind of dingy, although nothing is objectionable. Room is quite small but we had one without a balcony, maybe the others are bigger. Breakfast was very good, no buffet but individual dishes. The roasted bread with bacon and fried egg is really delicious. For us but no hotel for more than 3 days.

This place is flash as. Friends have been staying & I've been in for a couple of meals. Definitely recommend if your after something swanky.

Nice at a reasonable price. Nice place with good views. From the street it looks a bit drab but the rooms are nice and fresh and finished to a high standard. They also help with a couple of plates and knives and forks which is a nice touch if you bring back takeaways.

Good rest for the night before engaging on the Queen Charlotte track (3 days walking). Staff was very friendly and helpful. In the rush of departure we forgot my husband's k-way! We had the very good surprise to find it when back after three days. Very nice… We will use this hotel every time we come here. Thanks!

Had a good crossing from Wellington. A good meal in pleasant surroundings and a good night's sleep in a nice room.

I recently stayed at the PYC Hotel. Great location, beautiful breakfast and nice staff. I would definitely recommend it to friends or family.

Need more warmer blankets but other than that great location and has a swimming pool.

Stayed for two nights, the room was clean with a big-size bed. The bathroom had a very big shower with a rain-showerhead! Long story short: we had a nice stay!
