Picton House B&B and Motel Hotel

Great location with lovely clean rooms at a reasonable price. Excellent host.

What a lovely place to spend the night. Beds and rooms were super comfortable, the house as a whole is just lovely. Was so very quiet and comfortable. Woke up in the morning and was treated with hot coffee and fresh toast! Wonderful place to stay, with the most hospitable, accomodating staff! Thanks for a great night sleep!

I have been on the road through Australia and New Zealand for weeks and needed a rest. Stayed at the motel part for 3 nights. It has been like a Dream to Stay at Picton house and Carol is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I have recovered and are ready to travel through North Island before returning to Norway. I would allmost consider to go back to NZ just in order to Stay at this lovely place.

We only stayed 1 night but the room was nice and the staff was great and stayed late so that we could check in.

I am a French citizen, working in the humanitarian sector and international law, and have been on the road for now twenty years from Africa to Middle East, America, Asia, Australia and currently NZ. This is the first time I (have to) leave a negative review. The picton house BnB is the worst experience I ever had in terms of welcome (Coral is the name of the lady). Basically, it's been a series of inconveniences : 1) As I needed to rest, I had booked asking for a quiet bedroom. The request was accepted. Upon arrival, I notice that the other bedrooms are still free and located on the backside, while my room is one of the two facing the street. Anyway, I try to have a nap but after two hours I give up and ask Carol is she has another bedroom, knowing I asked for a quiet one and others are not occupied yet. Here, with a large smiling Coral explains that those bedrooms are not more quiet (which I can tell, as I visited them, is not true), that basically she's sorry but there's nothing she can do. As I insist, she replies that as I can see, it's a noisy environment and house as it's surrounded by two streets. I answer that it's not really what's advertised online neither what they told me on the phone, and then with an even larger smile she says "well darling, you don't have to stay with us, we can refund". 2) I go back to the bedroom, try to relax and look at other hotels. But of course, internet was hardly working.

We really enjoyed our stay at Picton House. The owners were really friendly and welcoming, and go above and beyond for guests. Our room was quite big with cute decor and very comfy bed. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Great location too. Can't fault it, highly recommended! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Awesome night staying here. Beautiful old villa. Immaculately clean and tidy and Coral our host is amazing.

Everything about it was lovely. The position was ideal. Nothing was too much trouble. Left the car while our ferry time. Will definitely recommend this place.

Absolutely love this B&B!. 2 nights spent here one on arrival to the South Island and the other on our return to the North… defo a fab choice!.

Loved it and Coral the owner was very nice and spent time with us explaining some of the history about the B and B. Very friendly and accomodating. Would definitely stay there again.
