We went up for the weekend just gone, very nice, felt welcome, loved our family room, kids loved it and heaps of room in lounge to play for them, beds were comfy as, nice and clean would definitely recommend, just a shame was no swimming pool but I guess that’s the earthquakes fault. We will be back thanks for having us.

Nice friendly service on our arrival, our room was a bit small, no kitchenette, don't like having to use the bathroom to fill the jug. The bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept on. For $150 you can hire an apartment on the Sunshine Coast with all amenities. There's no Sky tv, and why no drinking chocolate? We haven't been back to Kaikoura for 3 years, now we won't be back at all. So no we won't recommend this place.

Nice clean warm comfy rooms, friendly reception staff. Showers are great. In room cooking facilities. Recommend for families.

We took our USA freinds there and they loved the menue and meal.

Grate food always more than you can eat and at good prices to the staff are very friendly and make the night out better.

Broken pool yet still paid $180. Bed was comfortable. Didn't appreciate being charged an extra cleaning fee when all dishes were washed, rubbish contained and towels stripped and placed in the shower for easy clean up. Stayed two days. No broom for clients to clean after themselves, as a result, was stepping on food scraps in the kitchen after cooking (who wants to live like that? ) Not a great service.

The pool was broken from an earthquake 2 years ago. Then I got charged $56 for cleaners and washing the bedding. Usually $170 includes washing of bedding and cleaning of a room. Not impressed at value for money.

Good stay, especially in the awful weather we had camping — warm comfortable beds were much needed. Perhaps a little pricey, but good nonetheless. Friendly staff at reception.

Very clean rooms reasonable prices. Tavern next door has a great menu but a bit pricey for Crayfish.

Enjoyed the best pork belly I’ve ever eaten here… melt in your mouth food! And huge portions.

Highly recommend this inn for a good cheap and rewarding lunch. Evening meals are great too. Friendly staff.

Good food. I had seafood chowder and it was yummy. Others had fish and chips and the serving was huge. Very satisfied.

Visited some friends staying there as over night guests. The facilities seemed clean and adequate.

Not the Ritz, but this is a small town For our 18 day tour of New Zealand we really wanted to see some small towns. You'd expect that the inns in towns like Kaikoura would be of this quality, which is fine. However, that being said, the rooms were outdated and in the 2 nights we spent we never saw anyone who worked at the hotel. Our key was left for us at the front for 2 rooms (we have a family of 5). Our teenage children had their own room that had 3 separate twin beds, they appreciated that. We had a king bed. Both rooms had large bathrooms which were clean but could use a bit of an update, but that wasn't major. The inn is convenient but you could not get to town without a short drive. There isn't a path to walk to town so it didn't feel safe to go that way. In town there are shops, restaurants and such, — and at the Inn there is a restaurant and bar which we didn't try. All in all it was a nice pleasant stay, but we might check out a different hotel in town that we saw that was more convenient. Good place to go seal and/or whale watching from shore and by Kayak.

Lots of locals which makes it very enjoyable. Food okay and reasonable prices for drinks. Atmosphere not that great.

3 couples paid the same price for rooms, one couple 2 king singles put together and the other two a double bed each. Bathrooms small and water over the floor. Two of the 3 rooms smell. Glasses to drink out of too small to even have a decent drink out of.

Have stayed here awhile ago so comfortable and nothing to fault but had a meal here last night. It was absolutely delicious and diffinately recommend to anyone. Top notch.

Sometimes its nice to get of the well-worn tourist track, and hang with the locals. The lobster Inn is a place where this is possible. Entering the pub was like entering an RSA. Talk was of sheep, tractors, bankers and, of course, rugby, peppered with classic farming colloquialisms. The meal was less than ordinary. Whilst palatable pub fare, bangers and mash (venison sausages and mashed potato) served in a soup bowl is wrong wrong wrong. The free beer I scored at the bar did not make up for this travesty. Sorry Lobster Inn, we wont be back until you buy more plates.
