Nice place to stay, close to everything also great price.

Great price, great location, but didn’t get a good view this time.

Conveniently located near downtown. Nice and quiet and a good restaurant within the building. Generous serving portion too. Rooms clean and comfortable and helpful front desk.

Perfect for what we needed — an cheap clean place to lay our heads for a few hours. If you’re looking for a basic and cheap backpackers then this place is really handy to town and the stadium. We had a 3 person room to ourselves. Friendly staff.

The reason we accommodated in Hotel Waterloo and Backpackers is because it's the cheapest we could find. The location is also is nearby the town so we have easier access yo shops and malls which we could get to by walking. The rooms are alright provided by toilet and bathroom.

2/5Pros: Great location, very close to the train station so when I got off my bus I was able to walk in and get a room. Pretty quietGood cheapish food and stuff to doCons: overpriced for what you get, I paid 72$ for a single bed with a shared bathroom which would be fine if it wasn't so run down, my room has a two window pannels, the entire room is pretty dim, the shared bathroom is dank/gross feeling. To elaborate on the bathroom the bathtubs paint is chipping off and there is exposed water piping everywhere, to flush the toilet you have to stand up and press hard against this button that doesn't want to move and it feels like I am in a saw movie. Also it felt like it took an eternity to check in.

Great location great staff nice facilities will stay here again next time I'm in Wellington.

Just a basic backpackers. Rooms are dated and could do with a refresh. Bathrooms are the same. Bar and Restaurant area are good though. Location is great for travellers as they're close to trains, buses and ferrys. Essentially it's the type of place where you get what you pay for.

Good room, price reasonable for quality of building. Clean no odd smells. Only issues were light duvet on bed and heating stopped in middle of night. Woke up cold.

Horrible service, overpriced. I had to go up to my room on the fifth floor three times in a row (6 trips counting there and back) because my key didn’t work twice. They were unapologetic and didn’t inform me after fixing it that it was fixed so I was standing waiting for ten minutes when the. Are was already fixed. They never told me where the showers were either… they were on the floor two floors under me in an unmarked room. There are better ways to spend a morning than locked out climbing up stairs when I just wanted to shower and use the room I paid for. Poor customer service, slightly over priced. Will not be back again.

Practical. Decent location. Value for money. Very friendly and good staff.

Reasonable place for the price. A bit old and dingy, but has large common areas that rarely get too crowded. My only major gripe is that they insist on blasting Top 40 radio in the large common area and kitchen 24/7. This is especially annoying in the kitchen — no one wants to be forced to listen to club beats when making breakfast. I think I'd give this place another star if they turned off the damn music.

The beds have squeaked terribly when turning around, so that you get awake every time. The location of the hotel is good and it was clean too, but the rooms could have a general overhaul.

Excellent location in the centre, in front of the train station. There are single rooms, good free Wi-Fi.

The rooms are very small and everything is very old. On the 6th floor of the laundry there is smell of bath and the washing machines are also old. The carpet in the room was very dirty. To leave the luggage in Guarda you have to pay (most hotels offer that free service).

It’s a big building, reliable Wi-Fi and is conveniently located. It’s right across the street from the Bluebridge Ferry terminal. It’s best for price and location.

Great bar and common room — well worth visiting if you’re new to Wellington, even if you’re not staying in the hostel. Rooms in the hostel are a little old, but acceptable.

I pay for 4 nights in this hotel the full price like everyone and when I learn that my plane is cancelled and that I would have two days late I cancel my reservation (which was paid so that I am the or not change nothing) and in addition I have a tax Cancellation of a value of 1 night's reservation. The worst thing is that after I am offered to re-booker a room. That is to say that I would have paid for the room twice the cancellation fee.
I will never put my feet there for sure.

Good location but very shaky beds in the shared rooms.

Slowest check-in I've ever experienced. On top of that, the key card didn't work… twice. Guess who had to get back in line, twice? That's right. Also really crummy administration system, which must date back to 1993.

Pretty decent backpackers. They have lift which is rare to see. The location is right by the train station which is really convenient. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. The 20 key deposit is rather rediculous for something that probably costs 5 cents. The kitchen wasn't great.

The staff are friendly and helpful but the rooms aren't that great. Am sharing a twin with my partner and it is a bunk bed, which I wasn't really expecting. There were stains on my bed sheets and hairs all over my bed. The room I really warm and there is no fan. I thought it was good that they had a bar and cafe in the building and the noise from there never disturbed us in our room, the prices were reasonable as well. It's an okay place but probably wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Great place, been there twice and it's worth every cent. The building is quite old and to me it must be hard to maintain, yet the team's manager must be a rockstar, because the place always looks neat. Well done.

Great place to stay. Staff were lovely. Service was amazing. Housekeeping was superb. Rooms can overheat and if you open the window outside noise can be very loud.

All in everything a healthy price performance ratio. However, a hiker has urinated guest into the room. (No kidding)

Reasonably good hostel. Comfortable rooms at a nice price. Wi-Fi was slow and limited but worked. Great location near the Beehive and center of Wellington.

Probably the best budget accommodation available in Wellington, aging and a little out of town, but well run. Great quality and fast 1Gig Free Wi-Fi per day per device. Proper classic white linen just the way I like it. Passing traffic can be noisy. Would be great if signs to trucks not to use exhaust brakes in the vicinity were implemented. Spacious reception, lounge and dining room. Nearby fast food. Sanitary soap provided in the rooms. Long term stays available too. Very convenient access to the Railway station, Busses, Coaches and the Blue bridge ferry. Convenient Super Market across the road in the station building.

Good location, old fashioned but with charm.

All the rooms smelt of smoke and very musty. If you're asthmatic make sure you bring your inhaler. It was a shame really because the staff were really nice and it wasn't to far from some lovely bars and cafes.

The worst experience in a development country. The hostel was expensive for what it was, An old and smelly place. No plugs in each bed and this was the whole point in this disaster, at night we have to charge ours power bank and phones far from the beds and the fourth guest stole the things! The guys at reception were unhelpful and didn't say sorry even once!

Wont stay anywhere else since finding out about this place. Across the road from trains, bus transport, also shuttle bus to Interislander Ferry. Reasonable priced accommodation to suit different budgets, great meals, a bar, games room, huge TV room, well stocked kitchen with pots, utensils, crockery, etc. If you want to prep. Your own food, computers to use, etc.

My stay was fantastic. Clean tidy room. Very comfortable bed. Wonderful friendly staff. Helpful as. Definitely staying again. Only problem was small window didn't shut completely so abit of a cold breeze but wonderful all the same. Booked my next stay yesterday! Thankyou staff at Waterloo see you in October!

In short: dirty! Booked a 4 people shared room. Floor was definitely not vacuumed before we checked in and the bathroom had mold in shower and sink, hair and there was dried blood on the toilet rim. Disgusting. Worst hostel we stayed at in new Zealand. Hopefully the hotel rooms are better. Staff talked very quickly and was hard to understand although we we're clearly not from New Zealand. Would not book again. Only good thing was the short distance to the mana/naked busstop (20metres).

The place is clean but obviously a hotel short on guests cashing in on backpackers. As such you get the hotel experience with warm dorms with nice beds. Mid-high price but you'll know why. Wi-Fi great if you don't abuse it and location isn't bad either. Staff really nice and nightly deals on drinks. Breakfast not included but only $10

This is a good Hotel to stay at. The facilities are clean and functional. I love the lifts here even if modernized because they have an epic sounding motor. Even if the Hotel is old and in need of an upgrade, it is a must visit. Bit of a pity I couldn't ride the service lift but The main lifts were just as Epic. Even if modernized. Basically great Hotel and great lifts.

Free Wi-Fi? you have to pay for it by the hour, $3! What kind of ass is that? there is free Wi-Fi in the cbd, everywhere in the cbd, its not that good, but its better than $3 bucks an hour. The cleaning lady came in to check the room I was in and she made off with my towel and never came back! The shower, the walls were horrible, but the shower was awesome and made up for all that I felt was lacking, the bed was fkn comfortable, and I slept through the night without waking up. I had a view of the wall of the building next door. But the window opened and the air was fresh… And the shower. Yes again I talk about the shower, but I kid you not, after a day without showering, it was like a wet heaven. I didnt go around the hostel much to check the rest of the things out, because I went to the library to play with the free Wi-Fi… the actual free Wi-Fi. I recommend this place, if you want a good nights sleep and a great shower!

It's not nearly as nice as the places we stayed in outside of big cities, but this made sense for a city hotel/hostel. The outside is impressive, but the inside is pretty dingy and run-down. The room contained 2 bunked beds and a desk. The carpet was a bit old, as was the bedframe, but the beds seemed clean enough. There were 3 inner doors off a shared little atrium area with a door from the main hall. The doors went to 2 guest rooms and a shared bathroom with an impressive freestanding bathtub. You need a key to get into the building at night. It's nice there's security, although it didn't seem hard to tailgate in. The "free Wi-Fi" only means an hour, but it was per device, so it was sufficient. There's an elevator, although it's ancient. There are lockers for storing bags, and it was maybe $4-6 NZD to store bags for several hours. The place is completely unimpressive, but it gets 3 stars because of the location, which is very convenient: it's right across the street from the Bluebridge Ferry terminal, and right down the street from all of the government buildings. It's maybe a 20-30-minute walk to Te Papa. It's very walkable to places to eat. There was a decent amount of metered street parking around and available.

Accommodation is decent but nothing fancy. The lifts are pretty dodgy, we got stuck once. Wifi is hour free and then paid, although a Maccas next door has free Wi-Fi.

Staff were friendly, convenient location, bar and cafe on-site. Massive kitchen and walk-in fridge was nice. Rooms were clean, although could use a deep clean. Overall great place, I would stay again.

Excellent facilities, friendly staff, and brilliant beds. The location is convenient — next to the train station and just 10 minutes walk to Cuba Street. The bar and lounge are astounding — couldn't ask for better amenities!

From outside it looks quite impressive directly located in a business complex, but inside is it not clean. I mean even if it is quite old fashioned it can be clean. My room was smelling so strong, that I couldn't believe to sleep there. The rubbish bin was still half full and I think the bed sheed wasn't changed, because the pillow sheed smells like somebody other. I think the door locker with plastic card slot was the most expensive item in the room. For a price of 70 bugs per night for a single cabin you can expect more, at least tidiness.

If you don't have a car this hostel is pretty good. Not the cleanest or newest but for $26 for a 6bed dorm, it's pretty good. Location is the main plus here. You're directly opposite the bus/train terminal and walking distance from the ferry. Also, the little bar and lounge area serves cooked food which is pretty rare for a hostel.

Located nice but eating room is wiered because you share it with a restaurant therefore alcohol is not allowed. Wi-Fi is extremely expensive.

Inexpensive. Clean. Good grilled cheese sandwich. Friendly. Helpful.

Stayed a weekend when I moved while I was looking for a flat… well kept with prompt cleaning service and the beds are really comfy…

Stayed here for two nights on the weekend while in town visiting friends. Was tossing up between here and nomads but art deco is cool so went with this one. Stayed in a single room (shared bathroom). Bed was suprisingly comfy, room was tidy, and all in all the facilities were pretty good. Got everything I expected for the price and would stay again.

Nice huge hostel. Centrally located near the railway station. Rooms are clean, staff are nice. Double room with shared bathroom costs 72$. The room has a table and an electric cetle.
