Beautiful old building and the lift is a classic.

Where do I begin. There’s nothing nice other than location. The staff don’t assist you when you come in, nor do they even bother to ask about our stay. The carpets are cleaned with a kick floor vacuum that’s really meant for bare floors. The carpet is so old and has mould. The bed we had in room 401 had the air condition right above the left hand side of the bed and which leaked all over the bed and carpet. In additon, the room 401 was connected to the laundry room and cleaning quarters which was incredibly noise. The old elevator, as unique as it was, also vibrated right through the walls and the noise was also frustrating. Over the weekend, there is nobody at all. It’s virtually the Holocaust. Nobody came to clean our room. We called the “night manager” and even when we checked out two nights later — NO CALL back ever. The food was terrible. But we only had the option to try breakfast because they closed up for the entire weekend. That means if you stay on a weekend… you know when MOST travellers visit… the entire building is closed. The furniture was all warn out. The dining hall had chairs with half the arm warn right off. The place is a dump. The service is non existent and they hire the most pathetic excuse of employees who are young, ignorant, and not classy at all.

Great stay here in a Classic room, very roomy, super comfy bed, dined in cafe for evening meal, excellent food and service. Reception staff efficient and friendly. Clean, tidy and charming. Would definitely stay here again.

Clean and in a great location. Breakfasts were excellent and the staff quite attentive. I will stay here on my next trip to Wellington.

Great place to stay. Great staff and atmosphere.

A little bit dated, staff are very welcoming and professional. Ordered a beer and a burger as part of WOAP. Burger was better than average good beer matching. No long waits here prompt service and food came a short time after ordering. Prices were reasonable and area set for eating was not over crowded.

Such a cute place. Great for coffee meetings during a workday. Wish I'd known about it sooner!

Love this hotel. Art deco charm with well appointed rooms, close to the city centre.

Hotel had bags of character but lift needed changing had feel of gentlemans club and one of most comfortable beds I've slept in.

Just popped in for coffee. Reasonable coffee and good quiet spot for a chat.

Very old school and has a lot of character, would be perfect for an Agatha Christie murder mystery dinner in wellington.

“It’s just like staying in a murder mystery” is what a friend told me prior to my first stay and they were not wrong. Bar the murder and mystery mind. Fantastic old building and lovely finishing touches. I have stayed here a few times now and it’s the first place I call when looking for accomodation in Wellington. It’s not all quaint and old though, the room is in great condition modern enough with heritage features rather than battered old junk. Try this place out, I think it’s the only place I know where you could feel under dressed in a suit and tie at breakfast (not in a bad way), with such a beautiful dining experience.

Recommended. So different than your run of the mill (big brand names) hotels. Small number of rooms on an old floor plan means massive rooms — the bathroom was as big as some hotels I've been in and included a lovely old freestanding cast iron bath. Worth a look in the foyer and cafe/restaurant if you are just passing by too.

Nice warm and Spacey room. Big and clean bathroom with good tub (deluxe). Love the room but no view and free Wi-Fi is not good. The old style lift is a bit scary but fun to use.

Really good hotel! Love it. If we go to Wellington we try book accommodation there. The location is perfect for us, not on the busiest street in the Wellington cbd, however not far from the city. Easy access to all Wellington can offer: cafes, restaurants, bars… In a walking distance from Te Papa and other tourist attractions.

Was ok, however we had no towels at all including no bath mat, face clothes, hand towels nothing and after 2 phone calls and 2hours waiting we received them at 1030pm! Not impressed.

I loved this place it's yummy and fancy at a Cheep prize.

Have a Fab lunch. Can recommend the Thai chicken salad.

Appalling table service and awful food at the Wellesley Boutique Hotel restaurant called 1815. Went for the Wellington on a Plate event and was served off chicken that tasted as bad as it looked. See the photos. I noticed several other people leaving their meals too.

Thank you to the Wellesley Boutique hotel for a brilliant reception for our wedding. The staff were friendly and helpful and made the organisation easy from afar. The food was excellent and great value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

Charming "old style" luxurious cafe. Full of old people in suits (MBIE is near here as are a lot of Govt Ministries) but don't let that put you off.

I have Started my day with a delicious breakfast, enjoyed a satisfying lunch and a cup of great coffee with one of scrumptious in-house baked treats. In Wellington one of the best hotels. Thank you for a great time.

The first night we stayed there had one of Wellington biggest Earthquakes. They sure know how to build these old buildings. Other than the lamps falling off the side table and some paint chips coming off in the passage way. In this old building I felt safe, we were in the top story. The night manager Sam was calm and knew what to do for our safety. I loved the old 4 claw bath, was a dream to soak in one. Everything was so clean and I felt I had gone back to another time. Staff was so friendly made our few nights the best we have had in Wellington.

Stayed a few years ago, one of if not the best hotel experiences i've ever had!
Would definitely recommend for a romantic weekend away. 10/10

Just talked to the receptionist over the phone. You would expect someone working in the hospitality industry to have better people skills. So cranky!
