Very good location but bad maintenance as the doors work with difficulty.

Not good bad rooms and poor breakfast.

Cheap to stay but you get what you pay for. Good location.

A hostel with all the papers in order. Breakfast included and daily cleaning of the rooms. Top position, full center. Typical Dutch house with steep spiral staircases and windows overlooking the canal.

The truth that cost us €240 4 days with breakfast The truth that the bed are very soft but little command, but it is for young people because being so hot in winter we had to have the window and being so central we had a cofeshop next, all night fragrant.

Loud from the bars at Rembrandtplein! Overpriced small room, unfortunately our windows didn't open and we could barely sleep.

Very close to the center, all the amenities. The rooms are very clean and large. The receptionists are very helpful, the breakfast is not abundant but honest. Sore stairs to reach the rooms.

Clean bathrooms poor, washbasin clogged, sloping room, Windows impracticable… of the rest place movement but bearable.

Staff is nice but the rooms aren't the best quality and the Wi-Fi barely works.

The location is as prime, no doubt about it. The rooms were alright. They smelled of pot, the refrigerator didn't work, the shower didn't drain hardly, door squeaked like crazy and there was no air conditioning. The staff were very nice and had a great sense of humor. They did my laundry for 5 euro which was much appreciated. Breakfast wasn't anything fancy but it taste good and they were polite and helpful.

Great choice for a budget traveller! Even though the stairs were hard to climb, the ceiling was too low and the bathroom was shared with all the other rooms, I found my staying at The Veteran quite pleasurable. Located in an old dutch house in the heart of Amsterdam, it covers a traveller's basic needs: a bed to sleep in and a place to leave the luggage. The staff was polite and the breakfast was nourishing. I didn't like the fact that the heating & cleaning stopped after the first two days.

The "the veteran" is not a hostel!
It's a stinking, run-down, dirty, greasy, old hotel.
It smells throughout the House stale tobacco smoke and joints and filth.
The surroundings of the hostel is tags noisy such as at night, which is not due to the nature of the House.
Master of the House is a rude, grumpy and unfriendly subject, on top a swindler.
The pictures of the "rooms" on the homepage of the "the veteran" do not match the reality, (s. O. ), match. When posting to the Internet to book a "room", which it finally gets the landlord decides.
We got below the "room" of the "the veteran" logos on the House wall to the Rembrantplein. This is a hole, a garage on the ground, an opium den.
We were allowed to go only after massive protest.
Incidentally, the "hotel" not devoid seems vermin, anyway, we had insect bites, we got nowhere else in Amsterdam after the "sleep".
It may be that finds its ethical, cultural and hygienic standards in the o. G. Level of the "hotel" "Stoners" — and "Party people", who do not, described "hotel" nothing lost.
We are amazed also that the city of Amsterdam as well as the other Hostelgewerbe will tolerate such conditions. They are permanently damaging the reputation, too, as otherwise in beautiful Amsterdam.

Clean and easily found hostel.

Great location is the only good can be said about this place. With a stairs where you risk your live every time you go to the bath, with no kind of wardrobe or hangers in the room, a blanket that seems to be the nest of a diverse wildlife (yes, me and my girl got bitten too), only the staff gets abate the bad impressions. Try to avoid it if you can.

Great location: near restaurants, lively place. But noisy at night. Noticed a couple of bites in my body after staying. But staff was really friendly. And really cheap, breakfast included. Rooms were decent sized.

The location was great and it was really clean also, the staff warm and helpful.
