One of the best hotels for a mini staycation in Rotterdam. Hotel: + Attentive, professional and friendly service at the front desk. + Beautifully decorated with pieces of history. — I couldn't find a place to put my dripping wet umbrella as I walked in from the downpour. Felt really bad leaving a trail of water walking towards the front desk. Hope no one slipped nor fell. Room (Wilhelminapier) : + Luxurious, spacious, comfortable and clean. Love the decor. + Surprisingly quiet for a historic building. Didn't hear the pouring rain outside the windows nor the crying children in the next room (heard them in the hallway but not in the room). — Paper cups for coffee and tea didn't quite complement the luxuriously decorated room. The HNY brand earthenware should be used it it's place. — Plastic cups by the bathroom sink not quite the sustainable option for putting toothbrush or drinking tap water… — There's no soap dish to put the soap or was that a souvenir? Sadly enough that was the only thing that had the HNY identity in the room. Restaurant (NY Basement) : + Lovely ambience and great cocktails as usual. Service was good but not great. There's definitely room for improvement. — 5 course dinner was good but really nothing to shout about. Food used to be better when they had their a la carte menu.

Beautiful Bar and Restaurant reminiscent of the old Sea Terminal for ships going to New York.

I visited the Terrace of HNY. T’s a long waiting time to get seated on the main terrace, and patience is not one of my virtues, but it was worth the wait.
Great food and drinks, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and a fantastic view of Rotterdam. I’ll return to HNY soon again!

Terrible organisation with personnel who are incompetent and don't even know what they are selling. For the rest it was very enjoyable sitting with a nice view.

We ate at the restaurant while visiting Rotterdam and I was really disappointed in the overall quality of the meal, but oysters I had were the worst I have eaten anywhere in the world. I ordered 12, of which maybe 10 were edible, not high quality, 1 was marginal, and 1 should have never been served. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, I was told you get 12 oysters to be shucked and if the quality is not there, you still get those 12 oysters. Obviously, the restaurant is just another tourist trap.

Old historical building still beautiful with nice views We went there for High tea, it was good not great. I was a bit disappointed for the quality. Sandwich could have been better filled and fresher, mini pizza type also. I had seen/eaten better. Therefore I give only 3

The restaurant is located at a good place with a seaside view. I went here for high tea with a friend. The service was friendly. The high tea has a nice selection of tea flavours, but I expected more variety in the assortiment. The price was reasonable, but the high tea time was too short.

One of the best hotels I've been. Amazing location with good views. This hotel is full of stories and you feel it when you are there. The restaurant is also very good, serving an array of fresh sea food and meat dishes. Stay in one of the tower chambers.

Free parking nearby (if available). Beautiful sight from the inside of this vintage restaurant with every detail well thought before hand. Food was impeccable and delicious as you can see in the photos. Reasonable pricing considering the location and history of this place. No reservation was needed and we were placed to our seats right away though the restaurant was full of people that evening. We shall return there.

We do this every now and then. Lunch at Hotel New York. Used to be be a very quirky place. Nowadays it is less quirky but so is everything. Our waiter worked hard and fast so we had our order of shellfish for two in a jiffy. Have to do this more often.

Did an afternoon tea at the hotel; great food, large selection of teas that can be ordered limitlessly. Allergies are easily worked around and you get delicious replacements that look and taste just as good as the normal items. Staff is very friendly (and well dressed) and don't seem impatient or unhappy to be there. The entire space has a fairly simple feeling to it, but with class. It's modern but still retains some of that old feeling and grandeur to me. Everything is well maintained and leaving to get to the toilets from the main restaurant/cafe hall reveals a very nice looking hallway full of history, that leads to different rooms that seem like conference rooms. Clean bathrooms that are nice to look at as well!

I thought it was super bad, the ministry was late. I asked for the menuCard but this has yet to come. Furthermore, the waiter had no money at the checkout enough to return and had to get this.

The place has a history of it's own. The former head office of Holland America was in the building from where thousands migrated to the states in search of a better life. The office I believe is still in the same lane but I am not sure though. It's a classic old hotel with place outside to drink a cup of coffee. The long ceilings inside the restaurant is magnificient. One one side are the old buildings and the port and on the other side is the new district with sky scrapers of unique futuristic design.

Great all day restaurant: lunch, high tea, dinner. Friendly staff. Can handle great amount of customers. If you'd like a glass of wine, ask for the wine menu. Don't make you choice solely based on the limited list on the menus available on tables.

Super cool place to go for a drink. The terrace opens to a spectacular view. The place has got a tiny overtone of history back in 1900s. Nice!

It s one of the best places even for having a coffee. Nice food. The only minus is its over crowded and sometimes it takes 30 min to give your orders. Very close to other attraction places. Good idea to cycle there.

We visited here to look at the building from both inside and out and were so impressed with the look of the food being served that we stayed for lunch! We were certainly not disappointed, what we had was exceptional and the service was highly professional but extremely friendly. ALL the staff were very welcoming. We would love to return again on a sunny day to enjoy the views from the large terrace. Do not hesitate to visit here to appreciate the wonderful building and the first class service offered at this industrial style hotel.

I went there for dinner. It was my first time visit and it looks very cozy and the atmosphere is great. They have plenty of seats left, but on busy it's better to make a reservation. They have a wide variety of food: meat, seafood and some vegetarian food. The price and quality are decent.

Vintage to die but it's just great this hotel nestled between the modern towers around it. Nice discovery.

Food is nice, fresh fish of any type, from seafood platters to sandwiches. The atmosphere inside is both elegant and rustic, takes you back to the times of the emigrants, with many objects on the walls that remind of those people ready to board a ship full of hope. Tables outside enjoy a breathtaking view surrounded by water. Romantic for couples, but perfect for everyone, families and friends also.

A really spectacular place. The atmosphere transports you to a boat and if you let go it is easy to imagine that you are about to embark to the Americas. City with Port: Worth a try the fish dishes.

You can't come to Rotterdam and not hang out in this place. To have a drink, to eat, to sleep or just for the pleasure of sitting in the garden and enjoying its magnificent view, you have to come. Rotterdam is not the same without the HNY.

This hotel is a first class facility. It was previously the headquarters of Holland America Ship Lines. There are old items that used to be on their ships hanging on the walls and displayed in various areas around the hotel and restaurant. They have a great restaurant with seating downstairs, main floor and huge area outside. The food and the service is first class and outstanding. There is a grassy lawn area outside in front of the restaurant seating area where there are chairs so you can sit and enjoy seeing the sights along the river. This is a must see when you visit Rotterdam.

Had evening meal here on the set menu, which they were able to vary to accommodate vegetarians. Interesting venue with historical connection as a setting off point for Dutch people leaving for America after the destruction of Rotterdam during the war. Good range of beers.

Excellent hotel, at one of the most beautiful spots in Rotterdam. We stayed at one of the tower rooms, which are a big recommendation. The view is perfect, the atmosphere is amazing and the whole hotel/restaurant is a perfect blend of old and new. Dinner and breakfast were both very good and my compliments to the staff, whom are nice, responsive and attending. If you want to go back to nostalgia and be taken care of, Hotel New York is your hotel in Rotterdam.

A piece of Dutch history… simply amazing!

Formidable, live a direct contact with a star hotel of the past and the present.

We initially had problems getting a table outside (lots of empty tables waiting to be cleared while many customers told to wait) so went to the cafe inside. Beautiful interiors, superb fish and cakes displays. We hadn't reserved for the afternoon tea (those customers sit in a special area) so had the chef's plates from the lunch menu. All the food was delicious. Our waitress, Sabine, was extremely friendly and helpful, with a big smile for all the customers. This was a wonderful cafe.

Love the interior, still has that special atmosphere 'of the olden days'. Usually well-visited, so make reservations in advance, and service sometimes takes a bit of time. Menu is mostly fish-oriented. Nice scenic location. Barbershop downstairs still shaves the old-fashioned way.

Ok, especially because of the location. Bit noisy. Standard, more than acceptable factory-type food. Staff of varying nature but generally good. Worth a visit. And a walk in the neighborhood.

Historical location and a historical building. Thousands of Europeans left their homes for a future in the new world called America and the last foot on European soil was not just Rotterdam but this spot was what is now hotel New-York. The building and every room has that smell, sense and feeling of that time and those people ready to start the future in their new lives in the new world. Very special to stay the night in one of these rooms. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very good.

The fashionable place where it is essential to alller eat when you go to Rotterdam. The dishes are OK, but what is especially worth the peek is the location on the harbor. Beautiful picturesque place.

Don't know if it's my memory, but I used to like this restaurant better. They've got lots of wines, but the good ones can only be purchased per bottle. Also they've taken some of the good dishes off the menu. The sphere and service are still good as always, though prices are on the high side, compared to the quality of the food. The food is good, but it's not organic or exquisite. Hence my argument about the prices.

Beautiful surroundings. Great service. Food was really not so good. We had a burger and grilled sardines. The sardines weren't very flavorful, couscous dry. Don't take the burger. It was dry and tasted like a patty from a package. I was going to give 3 but I feel the food is too important.

Imagine a place with a nice location, inflated prices and mediocre food. Then imagine waiters forgetting your orders and giving half the table their food and the other half is served when the first half has finished their meal. Don't bother mentioning it to the staff because in this case they are 'aware' of the situation. (They can't be bothered). The food is not good, not bad. The only reason they get away with this is the location. They are not competitively challenged because they have no competition in this respect. They are a disgrace to their business! P. S. Service does not get better when it is less busy. Trust me.

Didn't stay in the hotel but did use the huge terrace outside. Good for a break from sightseeing etc. But there just aren't enough staff and service suffers. It's possible you might not notice if you're having a lazy afternoon. The atmosphere has a distinct air of "tourist trap".

Are very friendly and competent staff, great atmosphere, great views from the restaurant and good service. Large beds, no hotel in this price range can beat the quality of the rooms.

The hotel breathes nostalgia, has the most beautiful views and the best beds and bedding, which I have experienced in a hotel. Each room is furnished differently. Our room was huge, bigger than our living room at home.

Better to book in advance. It gets crowded. But it's worth the wait.

Bad service (youngsters). Bad quality of food. (Fish could be good but they spoil it by deep frying it). Long waiting time. Expensive and limited menu (but this is Holland! ) Since March parking is paid (around 7 — 10 euros extra! ).

Just elite place, very recommend.
