When I was on summer vacation in Mexico City in August-September 21st 2017, An earthquake interrupted my vacation and I was scared if my flight back to Istanbul was delayed because of the earthquake. Luckily the day after the earthquake my flight wasn’t delayed and I went home safely! Thank god my flight wasn’t delayed and the building stood up! I recommend going to this airport as many flights aren’t delayed so yeah. Also I had to leave a day early but luckily they understood why so I wasn’t payed any extra and I got an extra $300 dollars returned to me!

The sheer volume of people that come through this place. The size of it and the length it's just enormously big. But a clean and well kept airport nonetheless. I appreciate the cleanliness and the friendly staff. I must say I had a pleasant experience here.

EDITED… I have been through here plenty of times and never had a problem. The staff are very friendly and speak English if, like me, your Spanish is broken at best. I have seen the other reviews and don't know what to say, as of this date, it has been a good experience. It is very busy but well organised. I find a smile and hello go a very long way. EDIT… The number of thefts from checked baggage is on the up so be careful! If your case is locked then the lock is simply just broken. This has now happened to myself, my wife, mother in law (twice) and other friends and family, be warned and don't put anything in your checked luggage you don't mind losing!

Mexico City airport is not too bad but it is pretty good the most and it is updating more renovations to terminal 1, -Make sure that you arrive on time to the airport by 3 hours before departure if your flying in an international flight and domestic 2 hours before departure so that they can get in a very good shape security, if you are not on time they may close your flight. -Immigration and security lines go fast most of the time at terminal 1 not very much at terminal 2 -few cons is that it takes a while to get our luggages at the carousel and the gate to our flight changes the very last hour or minute -good thing is that they took the green and red light inspection area away before exiting the baggage claim area the green means you can go and red means you stop and put the luggage in the area when agents inspects and If I would still get red's I would rate this airport as a 3. — Lot of places to eat in this airport and lots of shops to buy and lots of spaces to park the car and the parking lot is not bad just that they have to pay and there are elevators provided to go up to the parking lot. — There's a lot of restrooms at this airport some are spacious most are the right size and some are very small and there clean.

It’s an OK airport. Terminal 1 is in desperate need of renovation or just total replacement. It’s way too small for the amount of people who depend on it. Terminal 2 is definitely an improvement, but still lacks options for shopping and eating. By the way, what’s the deal with all the WINGS restaurants? There are over 6 of this places. Hopefully, the new airport will be loads better and this place will be no more. Having said that, the current airport is in a very convenient place, only 20 minutes away from major residential areas.

Never ever go through Mexico City to go somewhere else! No easy transfer. Now you must go through immigration, get luggage and then recheck the luggage. We spent over 2 hours waiting in immigration line. Almost missed our connecting flight. Coming from USA is even worse. You can only check bags to Mexico city. Have to back upstairs and recheck them like you were on Mexico City.

Nice airport. Easy to navigate. Great people and some nice places to grab a bite. All the food I have had was good. Salute Food and Bar had a decent pizza. Multiple samll shops.

Horrible experience! First off, the smell in there is horrible. Iv been to several other Mexican Airports and this one if by far the worst. They have these jumbo screens, and one thinks that that is where the arrival and departure will be going up… nope! Wrong! For arrivals and departures they have these 20 inch screens in the back. I was held up in customs because my suit case looked like was carrying tools? I almost lost my flight and my stress level was so bad that my mouth started to taste like I had a hand full of coins in my mouth. If you can avoid this airport, please do.

Bad hygiene! My complaint is not directly with the airport, but if with the hygiene of some of the locals, particularly the local juice! It is near to Subway and Starbucks, it turns out, I was washing my hands when an employee entered the restroom, and came out without washing their hands, and came directly to the preparation of cocktails and fruit juices! … Lousy! That does not have measures to monitor the hygiene of these people!

Unfortunately the downside is that most airlines have delays and sometimes do not take responsibility. The best are the VIP rooms for both Aeromar and customers who handle special card, because they make you spend the wait very nice and comfortable, while your flight. Clean facilities and in general terms good attitude to advise you of the staff.

Worst airport ever. When you're transferring to another flight you still have to go through immigration, which takes TWO HOURS! I overheard people in the line talking about how their connecting flight was in an hour, but the Aeromexico people were unhelpful and just said they'd put them on a flight the next day! (no mention of hotels either, maybe they had to spend a night sleeping on the airport floor, wouldn't be surprised…) Luckily my other flight was in 3 hours but it was still hell to go through. Whoever made that decision should be made to go through immigration for every person they sent there unnecessarily — see how they like that! Also no drinking fountains. If you ask nicely at a cafe or bar, they might refill your water bottle though.

The staff at the airport are very friendly, they are very strict when entering the boarding rooms either national or international flight I advise you to arrive with enough time to be able to do your paperwork as the paperwork to document is very slow and sometimes You lose up to an hour at 45 minutes. Thumbs up If you served the comment.

A word of warning — Pack any items you value in your carry-on bag, not your checked bag. I'm not just referring to valuables (which, of course, should always be kept with you while traveling) but rather, any items which you personally value. I can't say if the blame lies with corrupt employees or poor security, but either way, every single non-clothing item in my checked luggage was stolen: phone case, phone charger, makeup, etc. But most upsetting of all; a handmade cosmetic bag by Geek Forge. Even though I only paid like $6 for it at a convention nearly half a decade ago, I really loved that bag so heed my advice and don't let something similar happen to you — If you'll be passing through this airport, make sure to pack your carry-on bag with anything valuable, but more importantly, anything invaluable.

Everything is confusing, the staff is incompetent.

An old infrastructure that gives if maximum day to day.
You are asked to tip everything up for the wheelchair service. There are always a lot of people and more between 5 and 9 pm that transatlantic airlines arrive.
The cost of parking is very high.
For so many people the airport is not very clean.

Confusing as hell to navigate but not impossible. If you are looking for your departures… Good luck. I suggest you Google your airline's location ( (example: Mexico International Airport map, Southwest Airlines) ) so you know whether you're going to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and which door. There are many places to eat street-side so grab something to eat before you through security and go to your gate because your choices will be limited after that. No need to take off your shoes when going through security. For arrivals, make sure you fill out the form completely and get in the correct line for either mexican passports or "all others". Depending on what mood they're in you'll either have your luggage searched or you'll just walk right through to the exits. It's actually a pretty decent airport but do brush up on your Spanish so that you can read the basic signs.

All good, the people very friendly and if you miss it you guide. But there is still more cleaning service in various areas, the day that I went to the bathrooms had no water.

Excellent location and attention of all the staff very clean a lot of security modern facilities in the food area serve you fast! Constant flights for everything and everyone! In winter is it very cold? You have to go well warm!

DO NOT FLY INTO THIS AIRPORT — YOUR LUGGAGE WILL GET BROKEN INTO AND STUFF WILL BE STOLEN! We just did a few days ago! They stole many things even candy?!?!? Ridiculous! Worst country to have a layover flight with. Horribly designed to assist those who are just passing by. Then all those who help you want money. Just read the signs, they might help.

Nice airport. The production is fast. You don't have to wait too long for the entry visa.

A first-class site where it's nice to wait for a connection or to get there. If you have to travel at the end or beginning of the year, make sure to go very well warm as the early mornings are very cold and the air conditioner accentuates the cold thermal sensation even more. If you have to sleep in the place, or if you can sleep, which is another thing, always wears a pillow for the neck and a sheet that covers you completely. Really, it's cold. And if you are not a friend of shame or what they will say, there would be nothing wrong a sleeping bag: it is compact, light but, above all, hot.

I've been more than once. Definitely one of the best airports. The facilities are very safe and the cleanliness is definitely the best. Its different cultural spaces are accessible and their distribution makes your access to tackle easier and faster.
The architectural design is extremely impressive and elegant.
Inside you can find more than one commercial space, various brands of food, handicrafts and clothing, as well as electronic products.

You can go to the centre with Meteobus Line 4 ($30) or by Metro.

The architecture is something to awe at but the service through customs is far from friendly. These employees need to acknowledge that there are going to be humans from all walks of life coming through. Some of which will be less knowledgeable of the protocol than others. Other than the poor costumer service, I found the signage within the airport is small and not entirely clear. Management needs to devise a strategy to improve this. Signs could be much larger and simplistic to avoid confusion. Again, customer service should be routinely evaluated and taught good practices for helping visitors find there way through the airport swiftly and easily.

Big airport as it has to be for a big city, there are two terminals one for national flights (1) and other for international ones (2). Queues could be long at some times but nothing compare with the queues at NY or Houston for example, and they move quick. Staff is really nice and even though sometimes is not they assigned job they always try to help and understand your needs. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and VIP lounges for a long waiting. Do buy your taxi ticket inside the airport and follow directions, do not go outside and hire a taxi as only permitted taxi cabs can to pick up passengers. If you travel light you can always take the "metro" to city center, easy to understand and only. 35 cents of a dollar single ticket.!

A place with many variants of service on airlines, inside you can find rest areas some not in the best conditions but the food area is well cleaned with varieties in prices and types, clean bathrooms and support staff anywhere you It can provide information and location of what you need, parking at a high cost but Puesdea find other options.

Depends on the day and time you arrive, migrations can be a chaos and eternal. In the public areas of the airport this is pretty good. Surely the new airport will be much better than this.

Arrived here on November 14, 2017 and I was so unsatisfied with the customer service and this airport overall. The restrooms are horrible. Some are missing sinks or the doors look destroyed. The employees can make you uncomfortable. As soon as I got off the airplane no one told us what to do next but to go through immigration and the line was extremely long. Halfway through the line I was told I was in the wrong line, but no one had told me beforehand that I needed to go through a specific line. My father was told to get out of the line and go to the back because he didn’t complete his form right. We basically had to ask people around us on what to do and where to go all afternoon because no one had told us anything. Then we tried to look for places to eat in the airport and we were told there were only two, however, this is NOT the case. There are more around the airport especially by the gates. But none of the employees had told us this, so we ended up having to eat at a restaurant with horrible costumer service. Honestly, overall this airport is horrible. There are so many areas that need to have work done or to be finished being built. The restrooms definitely need work done! If you’re expecting an airport with good customer service or to be helped out, this is not the place. Especially if you don’t speak Spanish, you’ll most likely have trouble finding yourself around. Good luck to anyone having to come here.

Good service. Serve quickly, security is not excessive. Has areas of breaks and shopping, restaurants are rather expensive. The only problem is that every time is more full and begins to decline space to wait comfortably flights.

At peak times a total catastrophe Luckily we all had a good mood.
But were all glad when we were gone… out.

For rush hour a total catastrophe, but outside peak hours (as with me at 03 am and 5 am in the morning) a place of silence. Although there were 60% of the shops before the first departures at around 6 o'clock, it is quite possible to rest when there is not much going on. The airport, however, is equipped with too few toilets — constantly standing in line. Besides, surprisingly little good English speak.

Reviewing Terminal 1: (Aeromexico's Terminal 2 is a completely different story… 4.5 stars). This terminal is a complete mess. Terrible signage, last minute gate changes almost every flight, late gate assignment, sometimes no gate assignment, 1km walks while not even sure if you're heading in the right direction (cause remember sometime they don't bother with assigning a gate). They force you out of security after customs for connecting flights… especially fun when traveling with kids, yay for security again! I've grown up flying all over the world almost every year for 29 years as a missionary kid and now missionary. I don't like to fuss over too much on the internet but this place really needs to change and I hope the new airport has completely new management. P. S. I'm not a gringo tourist… I'm fluent in Spanish and have lived in Mexico for 5 1/2 years.

To call this place and its employees awful is an understatement, it's simply horrible. I was there about a year ago and it seems as though as nothing has changed regarding their poor service performance. The employees at every level and department; from customs to immigration and even the shop keepers and custodians are all unprofessional in their manner. My first experience began at 3:30 am as my flight arrived along with probably more than half a dozen that same time. As we arrived at the immigration and customs services we were let into a long hall before being seen by an immigration official. However, once there their were practically more than 300 hundred people there all waiting to pass through immigration and only 3 immigration officers processing foreign passports. That crowd of 300 hundred swelled to more than 900 in less than an hour as more flights came in. One single female officer was trying to bring order to the line of arrivals but when she realized the chaos was to great for her to handle, she simply left. At one point almost a fight broke out because people were cutting the line. People became so desperate that they had to go through the national passports line and hope that the officer there would not turn you down. I know many are excited over the fact that there is a new airport being built. But if they don't change the way its managed than it might all be for nothing.

I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER fly out of this dump! this place is the most unprofessional place EVER! how do you have an airport where not one employee speaks ENGLISH! knowing that customers will also be English speaking! but they sure as hell know what a tip is!

It is a good place, if you are not familiar it is a fact that you will miss, so better to go with time and find your room to deal with peace of mind; if you have time to spare you can enjoy a meal at one of your restaurants.

Big and busy airport with adequate choice for food before one boards the plane. Although there are big signs showing that free Wi-Fi is available, I was not able to successfully log in despite repeated attempts and gave up. Free Wi-Fi is available for customers at some eating places and a tip is expected for dine in customer. Be aware that all bags have to be collected on arrival at Mexico city, then transferred to another carousel even though you are on a connecting flight and this whole process may take up to 1 hour. Few airport staff can converse in English and if you have a problem, it can be frustrating to try to get help.

I honestly don't know what everyone is talking about. The airport is great. Plus the airport itself is not a big deal. When I am researching an airport I look into how efficiently and quickly they get you into the air. Which they did great. The luggage claim does not delay also.

This airport is an absolute disaster. Even in Atlanta, Amsterdam or Shanghai, a Umstiegszeit of 3, 5 hours would be more than sufficient, yet this airport in Mexico City manages to devour this time buffer completely. 2 hours waiting before passport control! Absolutely overtaxed staff. Furthermore, none of the staff at the security checkpoint speaks English. For a luggage trolley, $10 is required, although the staff offers assistance at calls but in the same rate tip.
Who can avoid MEX as a stopover!

Horrible experience, completely disorganized, the employees have no idea of anything and are contradictory between them, or even worse, when you get to 3 am there is no one to help you! The aerotren that goes from one terminal to another does not work all night, in such a way that so take the first one, it is very likely that you close the flight! Big shame, and logistics, I will make a stop here in the future.

Disrespectful treatment to disable people. Security scan personnel are arbitrary regarding items allowed and extremely rude, specially towards disable. They laugh at my husband when he asked for help to get to the gate 35 (very far from the security area). Security chief conveniently doesn't speak English and doesn't have the balls to stand behind his arbitrary decisions. If you can, avoid to travel through this airport.

Looks more like a bus station, and not a nice one at that; there is not enough sitting area and bathrooms need to be redone… there's also a secondary check point for passengers on connecting flights; which means I had to throw away somethings I bought at the Cancun airport even though I had never left the terminal. Oh and good luck getting assistance because most people are sarcastic and condescending. Free Wi-Fi doesn't work and good luck getting to know your gate until about 15 min before boarding starts. It appears that whoever is running this place has never been to any other airport.

The airport generally suffers from lack of space. It is generally very crowded and lacks sufficient seating in the departure area. Passport control took a long time on entry. On the other hand, the security check was quick.

Don't go on any taxi that doesn't hit the table, they dare to kill you 10 times times, there are so many wicked people in this country, there is no sense of security in this country, although the police everywhere, but the eggs with nothing, protect your things, do not be stolen, beware of all the active approach to you, the basic is to kill you, or other purposes.

Food is the only good thing in AICM. Mexico City urgently needs a new airport. Restrooms are horrible, Wi-Fi is horrible, immigration booths are empty and capacity insufficient, service is terrible. AC doesn't work, it's hot inside. Connecting form T1 to T2 is difficult and slow. VIP rooms are full and you are usually looking at waiting lists of at least 30 minutes. Checked bags usually take 60 to 90 minutes to come out. One of the worst airports in the Americas. MEX is making an effort to be worst than GRU and EZE.

With us, everything was good so far… arrival as well as departure. Checks went quickly and in the security area there is a bridge still plenty of Shops to pass the time. But be careful in the duty free shops all prices are specified in US dollars… make absolutely sure.

The ugliest airport one may ever be at. Complicated access from outside. Horrible floors for luggage. Terribly Signalized. Safety is another issue. The list could go on.

Good facilities but you have to be careful with Taxis because the cashiers tell me that by take commission you're charged by Suburban which considerably increases the price, on the 4 occasions I have had to go to yellow cab, is the one that has offered me a better service.

They have connections to charge your cell phone. The screens show perfectly in that terminal goes to your flight and the hour, I felt lost at any time despite the fact that it is huge.

This place is HUGE! You can get lost so easily. On our first time there this man that works there helped us with our luggage, he asked for money and when we told him we didn't have cash or pesos he got furious and started swearing at us. There's so much air traffic that they made us lose our connecting flight. After 2 hours in line for customer service they gave us a new flight and a hotel for the night.

So far my experience have been good, I had issues with flights but is not a problem with the airport! Complicated to find the right way because the signaling is not the best but always I was able to find nice people to help me to find my way! Be aware that not many people speak English so try to learn some Spanish! You might need it!

Bad treatment from that low. In the migratory controls treat you as if you were a criminal! After they are surprised of the measures that you want to take a Trump. Ill-educated and zero cordial with the people who are going to spend silver to your country.

No hay donde sentarse … baños sucios y rotos. Mal Wi-Fi… y lo peor no hay gente en la aduana miles esperando y solo 4 agentes para firmar y poner una estampa en un mini papel… que al parecer es una visa… amontonan el equipajeen una esquina después que uno se tarda 2 hors por aduana… Not enough comfortable sitting areas. Bathrooms dirty and broken. No Wi-Fi… Not enough customs Agents… hundred of peoples waiting over 2 hours plus and only 4 agents… Your luggage is pile up in a corner by the time you get out …

Lack of air conditioning and boarding rooms a little small compared to aircraft capacity.

I have travelled all my voda here, the service from the airport and in the local denteo is good, the cleanliness is impeccable, if there are problems years registrarce and all that but is it normal for it to do things ahead of time.

Unfortunately, very confusing, long waiting times at the passport control. Luggage was not checked through. Only the passport control, re-check in, and the other Terminal has lasted for 2 h (actually wanted to change).

Employees working at the boarding section, especially at immigration department along side there manager, as well as the currency exchange window, whom had no idea how to convert American dollars to Mexican pesos, where extremely rude and at no help at all. All they knew what to say is to read whatever forms they gave. It seem as they did not have a mouth to speak for themselves and I was speaking Spanish fluently with them. Only a handful of employees took the time to help. I guest customer service is definitely not what they promote there, unless you are at a resort.

Excellent place to take domestic flights. However, the flights are delayed frequently. I like it a lot.

A nice simple airport, not very modern. But it's open 24/7 and has everything that a traveler may need. Don't expect anyone to speak English, you are better off if you can communicate in Spanish. It's a good idea to take Uber to the city — it's about a 40 minutes drive and well priced for many foreigners.

An airport is colossal according to the size of the city of Mexico. What visited on several occasions and it always surprises me. On this trip I noticed that several areas in repair. As an additional comment prior to boarding, I felt a little bad and I was surprised to find a pharmacy similar, something that I appreciate because it does not suffer during the flight. I love the airport.

There is no comfortable Seating in the floor with all the Restaurants it can be quite hectic, but all in all, the airport is in order.

Nice airport with several small shop and merchants of an extraordinary kindness. Thank you.

By far one of the worst airports you have been … make one lose luggage, go through inspection, and immigration, almost more than twice… and if you know what you connect them matters little … more well you do it slower so that the experience is most unpleasant … tremendous mistake to stop at that airport … and if you talk about your airline Aeromexico because I wouldn't know how to describe how disastrous they are.

Short walking distances, friendly staff, clean and it is what is but offers the residents less likely to be, virtually within walking distance of the city. Unfortunately, there is no place to stop. There are no cosy corners to grab a patio area for fresh air/smoke or sunbathe. Generally everything very small and cramped. Many of the charging stations and free Wi-Fi.

Very well and especially with the best exchange rates of the country (in any case from what I have seen).

It's all good. Minus this passport control is very long.

Everywhere is a vague want to tip the staff, this country is nothing hope.

This airport is very well thought out, I stayed there three times in two weeks and I had no problem to change terminals (via train) and to take my connections. I was also able to easily ask for information from airport officials who have always answered me with a smile and quite pertinently.
I will not put 5 stars for three things:
The first is the expectation for immigration, after a 12 h trip from Madrid and the fatigue accumulated by this trip, an hour and a half to pass the immigration I find it far too much while this space can be optimized in order to ease the Passage.
The second thing is from a sanitary point of view, the airport being located in one of the most polluted cities in the world, pollution reigns there and as soon as I arrived in the airport I could see smoke (due to pollution) throughout the airport (in all rooms), giving the head a headache, a sore eye and a nose. At that moment, I was waiting for one thing, to take my correspondence and to leave as quickly as possible by praying that there is no delay.
The third thing, is the passage of the security filters, the agents are very annoying and if by misfortune we do not speak well enough their language, we feel fast assaulted and they do not make any effort to understand us.
In short itself the airport is well, the structure is thought to allow a quick recording and power oriented easily without losing too much.

A Good Airport. Friendly Staff. Quick Clearance.

Nothing to reproach more than the others. The Mexicans his smiling music in the rests. The holidays start inside.

Very clean airport. Anywhere Samsung Charging Stations. Three Bémols: The wide ability to walk to grab without the possibility of the suitcase Caddies. Treadmills mostly out of operation. VIP Lounge (Business) is very far from the Gate J33. Also, when crowded, is announced with "wait outside". HON Lounge at Gate 32.

Basically no service, Luggage security is also not guaranteed.

Thirty hours of the journey, because last late, didn't catch the next flight, the results of the negotiations a few hours also there is no argument!
