Super central, very friendly staff, very comfortable rooms, breakfast included, Wi-Fi included, with parking!

Can’t fault the Hotel Sonya.
All staff are so friendly and helpful.
Rooms are spotless and a really good size.
Breakfast is of good quality and plentiful.
This is our 3rd visit and would definitely return if I come back to Rome.

Rooms were OK, breakfast was terrible and some guy from the street almost walked in to my room, not very good security. At least it was in the center of Rome.

Great! About 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini, some decent restaurants close by, and it has an elevator. The breakfast is amazing! Delicious, fresh, ample seating and great coffee/espresso/cappuccino. The room was clean and comfortable. The people that work here very nice and it was a fantastic experience.

Great location Room and bathroom both very small but discreetly clean. The breakfast buffet has little variety of food and drinks, and the dedicated room is small. Overall the hotel needs to be modernized. Unaffordable value for money. I won't be back.

Awful. Just awful. Booked a night here but was shoved into a dark box of a room in a different hotel. Stank of air freshener. No room ventilation. No natural light. If you are staying anywhere in Rome dont book here. You dont know where you will end up.

A very nice and classic hotel, the room is cosy and cleaned although the bathroom is a bit small. Quite rich breakfast, near bus stations and train and metro station Termini. I strongly recommend!

The room for 3 that we got was tight, but we managed well. Although the building is old, the rest of the services and facilities are very well presented.

Location: convenient for getting either Metro line. Rooms are nice, although the bathroom heat appears to be stuck on high (not a big problem this time of year). Wi-Fi is very spotty, but again, we're here for the sights.

It's a beautiful place. The rooms are confortable and comfortable. The receptionist is friendly and attentive. The room was always spotless. The breakfast is excellent. The position of the hotel is ideal. It is close to the Avenida Nazionale and the terminal.

Single room purchased with booking offer for the price of about 55 euro excluding tourist tax. The hotel is located in a very central area, just a few hundred metres from Termini station, and a few metres from via Nazionale. On my arrival I was escorted to an adjoining facility, due to overbooking of the main facility. The single room was really small, ideal essentially for overnight stay. However clean and essential environments. Quite complete buffet breakfast, with cakes and tarts prepared on site. Curious episode during Breakfast: I take place in a table, leaving the vest and suitcase, I go to get food and on my return I find two people in my place with my effects moved in a chair, and I come then to find out that it was a decision of the Cameri Ere in the room that accompanies me to another table still to be trimmed. Beyond that, staff still courteous and helpful. Value for money definitely convenient.

Great hotel, the breakfast is fantastic. The price per night is cheaper than a meal for 2 and you get a fantastic breakfast that is worth more than what you would pay for meals elsewhere. Great location so close to everything.

Dirty Hotel Despite that the rooms were spacious. I booked in March 3 rooms tot 7 people. Dirty room and bathroom! On the tiles the calcarizzate drops. Problems with water (or ice or cold). Breakfast nothing of that with all the objects crockery and cups washed poorly. Personal indiferente of foreign origin and in my opinion improvised. A shame for a Hotel in Rome that is in good position… I'm not going back for sure!

Appalling hotel. What you see on their website is not a true representation of the actual rooms and facilities. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Upon opening the door I Immediately noticed there were several large dead blue bottles on the floor and there were lots of dirty marks on the walls. The air con is air con in all but name as it doesn't work and with the heat in Rome in the high 90's it was like being slowly baked in an oven with absolutely no chance of sleeping at night. Although we never watched the TV in the room; it was in the most ridiculous place approx 8ft high on the back wall; suitable for use by a giraffe or other tall creature! The coat stand/ suitcase stand was literally hanging off the wall — an accident waiting to happen. The 'feature' wall was a grey plaster unpainted wall with harboured drips of paint at the top from a coat of paint on the ceiling. The smoke detector was also covered in paint. The bathroom was grubby. Filthy grout & silicone on and around the tiles and plaster hanging down from the ceiling. The tap on the basin was faulty in that it only produced hot water and by hot I mean hotter than than the surface of the sun. You couldn't wash your hands or face in it as you'd end up with third degree burns. The amount of water that came out was poor too. It would take several minutes to fill the kettle! The plug didn't fit correctly in the sink which meant when I had filled the sink (with water from the shower!

Excellent staff and service. Room needs re decorating urgently paint falling off walls. Dirt on walls. Among other things door handle fell off on last day. Couldn't regulate bathroom sink tap, was permanently red hot. Couldn't wash face as too hot. The bathroom floor was dirty. Looks grubby, tiles need re grouting. TV so high I couldn't reach it.

Lovely hotel — clean renovated room + AC, convenient location, good breakfast. Edit: while writing the original review I did not realize HOW convenient is the location of this hotel! It's walking distance to all types of transportation (railway, underground, city tour buses), walking distance (20 minutes) to Coliseum and Roman Forum. Definitely would stay there again.

This is a quirky hotel, but worth a stay. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the 5th. The 5th floor rooms were much more modern and bathrooms were much larger. The 3rd floor room bathroom was very very small. The A/C was kind of weak, but it worked. Cool old elevator. The location of this hotel was fantastic. Just a few minutes walk to the regular Metro station and the terminal a couple minutes farther. It was a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum. There is a mini grocery just next door, and there are restaurants and shops a few minutes walking. If I needed to be downtown in Rome again, I would stay there.

The hotel is located in a very nice area of Rome, in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The rooms are nicely fitted out, comfortable. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is sensational. We stayed here based on the Rick Steves Guide to Rome and were very happy.

Hotel without parking and in ZTL. A bit of a disaster. Breakfast OK. Do not respond to mail.

Small rooms and I don't say the bathroom!

Our experience at Hotel Sonya was fantastic. The attentive and helpful staff made these first time international travelers feel right at home. The morning breakfast doesn't have the options of larger hotels but offers plenty to fuel your day traveling across Rome. The rooms are small but offer everything you need. We were initially worried about water pressure and the showers but they turned out to work just fine. I can't recommend Hotel Sonya enough for international or domestic travelers alike. The staff was always willing to help, call a cab, offer advice, etc. The location is centralized enough that you can walk to most major attractions in 15-20 minutes but far enough away from the hustle & bustle of the city that you can actually relax and stretch out for a few moments. Highly, highly recommended.

The hotel is located in front of Rome's opera house, 300 metres from Termini station and there are excellent restaurants nearby. The hotel has a breakfast room with various choices. The rooms are comfortable and the bathroom with shower has a hairdryer. The cleanliness is good and the staff friendly and helpful for advice. There is also a small market nearby. Overall the stay was pleasant with a lot of satisfaction.

Lovely hotel only 5 mins from train station, nice sized room with all amenities. Breakfast has a nice selection of cereals pastries, boiled eggs among other things.
Loved the quaint lift up to my room.
Very good value for money would stay again maybe for rugby in 2018.

Over rated. Don't expect much from this place other than a great location. Rooms are small and dirty and the staff were not very friendly. They also charge you a city tax of 4EU/person/night at the end of your stay.

I was not there and I shit.

I booked hotel Roma Opera (4star) for a standard double room witch is 20 square meter spacious. We booked the room after looking at the room pictures and reviews. But when we arrived at the hotel we were sent to the near by hotel Sonya. We were told it's the same owner for both the hotels, so it's ok! We were given a 13sqm with the smalest bathroom I have ever seen. I had to fight with the reception staff to get a triple room but still it was inadequate. Bathroom no difference. Faster Wi-Fi but disconnected very often that I couldn't make a voice call. Room service was good for the first two days and then that's all. Break fast is ok and ditto everyday. Staff were rude at the beginning but started to behave well on the 2nd onwards. I still feel cheated.

Very good location, very short walk to the train station and, for my wife and I, walking distance to just about all the sites we would want to see. Not big rooms but adequate. We would stay here again.

I don't know more about what kind of service we found the Hotel had, but the price was (if you book half a year in advance) sensationally cheap. The location of the hotel is awesome; just a few minutes walk from the Central station you can many major attractions such as the Colosseum, Pantheon, etc on foot in under half an hour. It always says, measured by German Standard could be in Italy, well a star to pull off — that's not the case here. The Hotel Sonya is wearing the three stars to the right. I know, of course, only our room, but that was for two persons sufficiently large. The bathroom was small but adequate. Positive: the bathroom had a window to Ventilate the room! The window of the room was in the courtyard, and while that's not a noble sight was, but the nightly noise of the city completely away held. Only the walls and Ceilings themselves were a bit noisy. Our room was equipped with mini-bar (fridge — of course, elsewhere, purchased drinks can absorb), kettle, telephone, air conditioning (we have in March is not needed), free Wi-Fi and a large flat screen TV. The operation to find out remains, unfortunately, the guest left to itself; here it would be a short printed guide helpful, because after Turning on the TV, you first have only Hotbird channels available, where hardly any German channels.

Great! Should just renovated, everything was New, the service attitude of first class, the Breakfast was also very good! In Europe live the most comfortable one site.

Stayed in this hotel from 6/7/2010 till 9/7/2010. The rooms are not that big but clean en have a nice sized bathroom with a great shower. The rooms have working airco wich is very nice in july. There is free internet for guests also if you want to use your own laptop. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The prices are also very moderate. The room is equipped with a mini-bar and the (soft) drinks in the mini-bar are not over-priced. The room is also equipped with a water-cooker. A supermarket is across the street and a daily (street) market right around the corner. There is a very nice restaurant "Antica Boheme" also just around the corner. They also have nice prices (ask for the tourist menu! ) and we noticed that the locals were also eating there! The hotel is located in a not very busy street just across the Opera and on walking distance of Station Termini. Last but not least the hotel serves a really great breakfast (NOT a typical Italian breakfast with just cookie's and coffee or tea). Defenitly worth going back the next time we want to got to Rome.

Feb 08. I was very pleasantly suprised by the standard of cleanliness and the ever obliging staff. Staff on duty 24 hours was a big plus as we were very late arriving. Room was recently renovated and lovely ensuite bathroom. Termini train station was a six minute walk and all major sites in rome easily accessible by foot mostly or metro. Lovely coffee served round the corner and we had two lovely meals in local restaurants recommended by staff.
