Myself and my husband had are wedding in Trim Castle hotel back in July and they went above and beyond for us. Fabulous hotel and the staff were absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to go back for a night or 2 in the near future ❤️

We go to Trim Castle hotel at least twice a year. Fabulous, clean hotel. Staff are very accommodating.

Coming to the end of a 9 night stay first time ever here but absolutely loved our time here the staff are brilliant especially the restaurant staff in particular Joe lovely man who made a great connection to our son Ethan who is Down Syndrome Thank you Joe.

We had our wedding reception in May at Trim Castle Hotel, this is a fantastic wedding venue and the staff absolutely made our wedding stay. Every one of our guests were full of compliments for the hotel and the brilliant staff who went above and beyond for us. Special mention for Joe Mick Jillian and Geraldine. Thanks for everything!

Great hotel but has lost its personal touch. When booking I told them we are celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We didnt get a congratulations or nothing. We have stayed in other hotels for our anniversay over the years and got something small like a card to congratulate us from management, a welcome plate or even a room upgrade. As a paying customer, celebrating a special occasion, these are the things that make us remember the stay more. It was dissappointing if I must say because we enjoyed everything else in the hotel. Food was lovely. Room was comfortable. Staff were lovely. But the personal touch was not there. I am not sure if we will stay again. When people ask how we got on, I will be honest. I say I recommend the hotel because it was lovely but not sure I will be back.

Stayed here for one night with my family. The welcome was warm and very helpful. We asked for extra towels and got them straight away. After having dinner we returned to the hotel for a drink in the lobby. The receptionist provided our 4 year old with colors and paper while we we there. It’s those little details that sadly a lot of places don’t pay attention to and they make all the difference. But I’m happy to say Trim Castle Hotel was excellent. Also we got the teepee ⛺️ in the room for our daughter and she loved it. My partner also celebrated her Birthday and they accommodated my requests for chocolate strawberries and left cookies and a card. Just lovely I have to say. Can’t recommend the hotel enough.

An amazing property with amazing staff.

We recently had our wedding at Trim Castle Hotel. We couldn't of asked for a better day. We had the lovely Joe looking after us on the day, who calmed our nerves and ensured we didn't have to worry about a thing. The day flowed beautifully and the staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. Our guests are still talking about what a great day it was! Got married here on Sunday, canNOT recommend them enough, amazing staff and venue. Nothing was too much trouble for either us (bride & groom) or our guests, the staff went above & beyond for us especially Joe Michael & Michelle. We loved our time here and will definitely be back, for sure if you are thinking about a wedding you won't get a better venue ❤

Kids loved the smores kits great value for money.

We got the Easter dinner for 4-6 people. Even though they forgot to give us the tray of vegetables which we had to go back for, the food was amazing and so fresh. The beef was really tender and the gratin potatoes were delicious. There was plenty for all of us and even some left over for the next day. Highly recommend.

Got the Roast Chicken Dinner yesterday! It was such a treat! It was presented beautifully, was incredibly fresh and tasted great! A welcome relief from having to cook in lockdown! Highly recommend!

The new range of meals to take away and heat at home are absolutely brilliant. Cooking for a family of 6 adults is hard work and these meals have become a life saver for us. Would highly recommend them, really tasty and really good value. Thank you Trim Castle ❤️

We are back from a wonderful 2nighs stay at this beautiful Hotel. From start to finish the staff were excellent nothing was to must for them, extremely friendly, chatty, just lovely people, couldn't fault the room, except the TV small but hey not a problem either we just moved the chairs and table closer (obviously moved them back when leaving), We had lovely afternoon tea which We highly recommend.

Such a fantastic hotel right on my doorstep, great to sit and relax with some lovely food and drinks looking out at the beautiful Trim Castle great night sleep and perfect breakfast.

My second trip over to trim. Lovely food and the staff are fantastic michael and jonathon looked after us in the restaurant for both our trips over and were fantasic courteous and efficent looking forward to my next trip over.

Worst hotel ever! I paid my reservation in advance and once I arrived to the hotel I was told my reservation was cancelled. The lady in reception told me to pay again (spent already nearly 1000€) in order to stay there. After a few hours, at midnight I am told by another “kind” receptionist there was a mistake as I can’t stay in that room. They made me pay TWICE for the booking and I was left with no place to stay at midnight. This is unacceptable as they should have informed me that they could not take my booking in advance, not at midnight once I was checked in and paid twice for the reservation. Shame on you guys! My lawyer is already aware of that, be ready guys!

We had our wedding here 20/02/2020. The staff are amazing, would do anything for you. Felt like royalty. The food was so good, everybody was talking about the food. The bridal suite was lovely and had loads of romantic touches. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so special.

Was here recently with my sister for the show and show, we had an overnight stay with dinner, bed breakfast and show,, everything was absolutely perfect, food fabulous, staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us, the room was spotless and cosy, 1 million percent recommended, the show was the icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back.

Myself and my husband just spent our 20th anniversary there, the food was lovely and you can't fault the staff, they were all so friendly, we would definitely stay again.

The Early Bird Menu in Bailey Bar: Absolutely delicious food Excellent value for money @ €20 3 Courses pp with steak suppliment Service really friendly and efficient. We most definitely will be back. The portions were enormous. Their chicken wings are a must have.
We ate so much that we had to take our Malteser cheesecake away with us. They gave us the diluted blackcurrant free of charge.

Last friday I was with my special friend in the Trim Castle Hotel this place it's good place for enjoy and has good costumer service.

My husband and I were delighted with the excellent customer service from beginning on booking our one night stay which we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary to the service in eating in the hotel also, it was so relaxing atmosphere even though we realised the staff were so busy but still made time to make our stay special, Thank you again for making our special date special, We. Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location overlooking the Trim Castle. Delicious food with a choice of restaurant bar or cafe friendly service (especially Alisha) and. Free parking. Added attraction in the well stocked Kilkenny Shop on site.

As always staff can not do enough for your stay. So friendly, food is amazing and cant beat the value for money.

A beautiful hotel, the staff are lovely, and willing to help at any time of night or day, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the bath is huge! Having Trim Castle across the road is the icing on the cake.

I can honestly give this hotel a 100% positive review. We had our wedding there last Friday and Michael, Martina and all the staff went above and beyond. The room was stunning, the food was outstanding, the staff warm and welcoming and the service impeccable. I cannot recommend them enough and wish we could do it all again. Stayed here for a two night mid week break. Really enjoyed the stay. Hotel centre to every thing staff very pleasant at reception and all over the hotel, bar staff great and big shout out to David the waitor who looked after us during our meal in the Bailey bar on Monday evening top guy and a credit to your hotel. Will certainly return and will recommend to my parents who would love it here.

A local man told me Trim castle is a great introduction to European castles as it has almost all the features you'd hope to see, and the roof is covered to protect from rain. I have to agree, the castle was splendid and tour informative. The surrounding yard was my favorite part, the other buildings not only around the castle but also in the distance — it was easy to use imagination to envision how it may have looked hundred of years ago. Beautiful countryside as well.

Very impressive place, beautiful castle. First we just passed by but it looked so great that we decided to turn back and visit. Tickets are very cheap it was only 2 euro. Quiet large carpark at the entrance to the castle.

Very enjoyable tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the castle, it's history and the surrounding area. He was patient, gave all of us ample time to explore and take pictures. He answered all our questions and told us of two movies we could see the castle in. Braveheart and The Big Red One. Terrific!

Beautiful Castle. You can walk around the grounds by the River and meet the donkey family who live behind it. There are little local shops and a hotel beside it. Small tourist attraction but well worth going to see.

I would like to thank all the staff at Trim Castle for a fabulous weekend! From the very first phone call Claire was ever so helpful in assisting us organise a package for a Hen Party. The hotel itself was spotless and modern but the staff made the Party a very enjoyable occasion — from the reception helping us store cupcakes to the restaurant accommodating us in pushing the pre — booked dinner back a half hour not to mention Kevin in the restaurant getting a safety pin for a wardrobe malfunction mid dinner service! Thank you all for making this Hen Party a very special and memorable one.

The place where the film Braveheart was shot. The construction of Trim Castle was started in 1172

Very intriguing, well kept historical artifact. Its importance in Irish history and development through the years make it interesting to look at through a scope of many periods. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Tour lasted around an hour, good money's worth considering the low price. Small admission fee to see the outer grounds only, but well worth paying the full sum to learn more about it all. Small parking lot outside means that at popular times may be difficult to find space. A decent selection of cafes and bakery's around in the town outside if one were to stop for lunch.

Travelled with family from England to attend a wedding reception. On arrival we were told breakfast was served 7-10.30am every day and this information was printed also on the small booklet that comes with your room key. We had a fabulous time and the hotel could not be better until breakfast Saturday morning. We had an early flight home and a 7.30 am taxi booked. We all arranged to go for breakfast for 7am only to find the room closed. Reception informed us on a weekend it opens 8am. This is not what we were verbally and visibly told. We then had to travel to the airport hungry to buy an overpriced snack instead of our pre paid breakfast. This spoilt an otherwise lovely two days at the venue.

It was really nice seeing where they filmed part of Braveheart. When you pay for the tour inside the castle they will not let you video it, you can take pictures but no videos. I have videos of the grounds of the castle on my YouTube channel if interested go to (Julie the Thrifty designer)

Beautiful castle. The Dungeon only sees itself as a guided tour, which could have been nice if the Guide didn't spend his time rolling biceps and making moulnable jokes.

The tour was great and informative. The guide new his stuff. It was so cheap at 5 euro per adult. The castle itself is amazing. I would recommend visiting trim castle!

A trip to the past. You feel like the Middle Ages crossing the bridge that enters the walled precinct of Trim Castle, and walking through the gardens around the fortress. €2 entrance to the gardens, €6 Gardens and fortress. There is parking on the pay street in front of the castle.

Very nice Castle in an area where there are several vestiges to see. Information in French is provided at the entrance to better enjoy the site.

We attended the Trim Ladies Circle Lunch here yesterday and it was fantastic. Such a lovely room and roof top area. The menu and food was lovely. The service was excellent and each staff member couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you to Joe, Michael, Sofia, Tara to name only a few. Can only imagine a wedding here would be perfect! Well Done All!

A very nice place to take a walk. It's well preserved. You pay to enter: €2 If you take a walk in the gardens and €5 if you also want to do the guided tour and climb the tower.

Well worth a visit. Parking isn't too bad but it's pay and display. The castle itself has quite a presence and looks very impressive. On a side note, parts of braveheart was filmed here. Would recommend to anyone interested in castles.

Staff were very welcoming and not pushy at all! Only a few dollars and we got to see almost all of it. Super friendly! Got some incredible photos and a great history lesson.

Such a cool place and the tour was very informative. It really helped us to visualize on later tours what the castles and ruins would have looked like. The grounds were neat too, and we could walk around them all we liked as we waited for our tour to start. Within walking distance to several cafes and coffee shops, so you can grab a bite before or after.

What a gem! Visited this on a relaxing final day in Ireland and I must say I am very impressed. Steeped in history and culture, as well as the set of films. The tour guide was really good and had a lot of information as well as great facts which were easily put into context. Amazing all round!

Fabulous Castle. Plan your visit in off season only a few tours a day. Great tour guide. Wish we could venture throughout the entire castle but we saw a lot of it.

The Castle is worth seeing but what made it better was the guide! We were lucky to get a lady who was super enthusiastic and made the tour much more fun! Would recommend for someone who's around Trim area for sure.

Interesting castle. The Little Amen Guide.

Tickets for adults are really cheap. €5 for an adult to access the ground and have a guided tour or the keep. Tours tend to last around 45 minutes. Our tour guide was very informative, humorous and open to all questions. Definitely worth the visit and there are lots of other ruins to see around the town.

On our trip we went by chance and yet we stayed there for a whole day. It is a place filled with history just as much the castle as the city. Do not miss Cetye step and Oren the time to browse the chateau with a document in French very well done and that gives a lot of detailed information about the different structure of the Chateau.

This place was great even though I visited in the rain and slipped in mud, 5 euro for a tour guides by a lady who really knew her stuff and had a great way of explaining everything to the group. A beautiful castle steeped in history. Will definitely be returning in better weather. Might not be the best place for very small children as there are long narrow spiral staircases in the castle. But over all would definitely recommend a visit.

I had booked afternoon tea for a group of friends celebrating a baby shower last week. From the way the fabulous room was laid out to the fantastic food we received it was just amazing. It was exceptionally good value and we were so well looked after by Patrick & Una. I couldn't recommend afternoon tea in Trim Castle highly enough. We will definitely return!

Beautiful ruins of the Trim Castle. Has parking available but can be very crowded and hard to find a spot — free parking on Sundays though. You can either visit only the castle grounds (2€ pp) or the grounds + tower, which makes it 5€ pp. Has free toilets available inside. If it has been raining, choose your shoes carefully, since it will be very muddy and there are spots that you need to walk on grass to fully enjoy your visit :)

Trim is a beautiful town the walks around the castles and along the river are lovely. The castle is well worth the tour. It's so big.

I don’t even know where to start it’s taken me a couple of weeks to think what to say. We held our wedding reception here on the 25th of November. From the time we booked it nearly 2 years ago, the people in this hotel go above and beyond. Nothing is too much and really are the making of our day, the hotel is a fabulous from the food to the rooms to the great hall but I feel that’s easily seen from the pictures but I just want to focus on the staff as honestly they are amazing and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Just a few people myself and my husband would like to thank, Claire, Una, Jillian and Michael. I already know myself and Philip will revisit this hotel over and over again. Merry Xmas to you all.

The tour of Trim Castle, the largest of it's kind in Ireland, is well worth it. The guides are very entertaining both for adults and kids, so they won't be bored. They talk about the historical background of the castle and the area and tell interesting stories too. Great views of Trim and Meath from the roof of the keep. Highly recommend a visit.

Went with a bunch of friends. For a small fee, they give you a tour of the castle. Surrounding scenery is pretty as well!

A very interesting 12th century castle. Unlike Kilkenny, there are almost no layers of later times. You can get to Trim by direct bus from the bus station. Types of tickets 2 — only to the territory (you can bypass the castle around) and with the passage to the tower itself with an hour-long tour in English.
When you leave the castle behind the gate, turn right, cross the bridge and walk along the river to the ruins of the chapel (about 20 minutes from the force).

Nice Castle. Beautiful outside. Too bad it's not intact inside. Guides (in English) very good at explaining and available for questions. Worth a visit! Ticket price on the 12 euro with internal visit.

Did the full tour outside and inside of the castle. It was brilliant. The castle tour not for people who don't like winding stairs in small spaces. The tour guide was fantastic and the price is amazing compared to similar tours and attractions in ireland. Highly recommend.

One of the best castles I've ever visited and I've been to many over the years. By far one of the most enjoyable tours and is cheap as chips. Tour guide was fantastic and gave a very detailed account of this magnificent castle over the years. The roof is also covered which made even more enjoyable as you weren't freezing throughout the tour. Definitely a must for any castle enthusiast!

If you're visiting Dublin, making the trip to Trim Castle is a must. The castle complex is well maintained, and it is beautiful. It's a great experience to walk around a castle from hundreds of years ago.

A unique castle, it is nice to see not only from the outside, but I also recommend to make the full visit of the donjon. The guides are well prepared (the tour is in English, but at the reception you can ask for a free brochure on loan in various other languages).

This castle is not like one we expected with all the rooms and so on. It's a bare bones historical spot so worth the tour. Albeit trying to hear and understand his Irish english was a bit of a chore. The guide was informative and knew when to lighten the mood. I would have liked to have a brochure about the castle to take home and show to people.

Trim castle: the castle that almost wasn't. I learned more about Irelands mixed history in the tour here than any textbook can tell you. Did you know that they almost bulldozed this castle in the 1980's and turned it into a road because of the stone? That would have been a huge shame! This castle Is living history and it's amazing. Don't miss the tour, pay the extra euro and learn some awesome history. Beware, if you are scared of heights then you might not like the tour. It has some semi scary heights in it. 5:5 don't miss it.

The keep tour is definitely worth doing. The guide was engaging and knew his stuff and the keep was well preserved. I probably would not bother going without the keep tour, although the grounds are expansive.

Awesome castle. This is where the movie BraveHeart was filmed. The grounds and surrounding area is steeped in history. Limited parking in lot but you can find a parking are in the town. There is a guided tour for a fee. Overall a great experince.

This was literally the best Castle in all of Ireland (Out of the 20 that I saw). It is beautiful and the surrounding town is beautiful! A spectacular day trip! If you are going to make the effort to go to a Castle… go to this one!

Very nice place with a beautiful view but the visit of the dungeon does not bring much except a beautiful view…

The tour guide could do a better job at both projecting his voice and making sure he was being heard by everyone as opposed to only people in close physical proximity. Narrow circular staircases all the way up and down may pose a challenge for people with difficulty climbing up/down stairs. It offers a great view of Trim. The movie Braveheart was filmed there in Trim, so if you like the movie that will be a treat.

Friendly staff and really helpful. The property is very interesting and lends picturesque glimpses. In my opinion is Davedere.

Trim Castle is really a lovely and interesting place to visit. The keep is well preserved and impressive, and the surrounding castle walls and what's left of bits and pieces of gates, etc are lovely. The site is a bit raised so you get a nice view around, including the Yellow Tower. Make an effort to go on the tour of the interior of the keep, which is not open for general visiting. It is interesting and spacious, and you can walk up to the roof, which has magnificent views. The tour guide we had (Brenda) was excellent, if a bit loopy.

The castle of Trim is truly charming and deserves the guided tour inside. Brenda, our fantastic guide, made this magical experience. Extremely recommended!

The wall is much bigger than the castle itself, but it is beautiful! Friendliest staff ever! Super cheap. I took the 40 minute tour… Loved every bit of it.

Now this is a castle! Beautiful. Many different ruins to see, the keep to go inside, and informative signs.

Trim Castle is famous as a filming location for the movie Braveheart. It is a very beautiful place to see. Walk outside around the castle and enjoy the different parts of it. But if you have the chance to visit other castles in Ireland (Blarney, King John's) and you are not interested specific in this castle, save your time and skip the guided tour.

Holy was beautiful here, I need not say more Braveheart a great castle with great facility, OPW worried, the Heritagecard will cost you €25 and come anywhere for free in what by OPW.

The movie location for Braveheart in 1994 is still a very impressive ruin and definitely worth a visit. Located on the south bank of River Boyne is the keep and some more structures the heart of what was supposed to be the largest castle in all of Europe. Nice walk around the structures and interesting guided tour at a reasonable price.

Great guide and a cleverly and well preserved ruin, you get taken right up to the roof for views via walkways set within the original castle.

Just to be clear: I stayed at a local B&B but I was at Trim Castle Hotel for most of the day celebrating a friend's wedding last September. We had drinks on a rooftop. There was a bar. A spectacular view of Trim Castle across the road. Almost all staff were very helpful (much more than most hotels). I include in that the serving staff, the reception staff and bar staff. The dining hall where we ate the main wedding meal was awesome. Staff were attentive, friendly, efficient. The toilets were kept clean (another rare thing for a hotel in my experience). No technical issues rose (that I was aware of). The staff made an awesome delivery of the main course for the wedding party, showy and dramatic… really impressive. If I was suggesting a wedding venue to a couple, Trim Castle Hotel would be among my suggestions.

I have been here several times. The walk to reach Trim castle from across the river is fantastic with a lot of nice photo opportunities. And, the guided tour inside the Trim Castle is brilliant beyond words.

Stopped by here in the middle of travel. Quaint little town. And the castle gives several photo opportunities.

Must ask for photos from the Braveheart shoot. Really helps put the castle in perspective of how they may have used it.

I would like to live in trim so I can see the castle. Trim is a good place. I have been in the castle twice now. I also like the canoe outside the castle.

It's a great town trim, with lovely people and a great night life, cannot wait to visit trim and the castle again.

I've been there many times as I have relatives living nearby. I love this place! The castle itself is cheap to visit, but very interesting nonetheless. There is a big walk in the park nearby, make sure to go up to the cathedral of St Peter and Paul. Also, just at the entrance of the castle, you have plenty of little restaurants and cafes. Franzinis is a good option :-)

As a Wedding Photographer, This Hotel was a dream everything ran smoothly and the service was second to none, great hotel highly recommend to any and all love birds, you have it all beside you, with the Castle and other ruins that make it all that easier for Photography.

They were making "Braveheart" in here, that should be enough to convince you to come to Trim and see the Castle.

Gorgeous room, lovely views, easy to walk to the castle and shops, and a really beautiful modern bathroom. This Canadian loved it.

We took the tour of the keep with Gerry as our guide. It was a great tour and Gerry kept it very interesting with the history of the area.

A smart hotel juxtaposed to a very impressive castle to provide glorious views from me room window. The room was excellent as was the breakfast facilities provided by extremely polite staff. Highly recommended.

What can I say! My daughter Stephanie celebrated her Wedding to Paul here on Saturday 10th August 2013. The whole day was fabulous. Everything about the hotel. From the service, delicious food, the stunning views of the grounds and of, the castle, from the rooftop terrace, I could go on and on. This is not why I have taken the time out to write this review as you will get this from a lot of hotels. What makes this hotel stand out from the rest is the exceptional staff who are second to none, the absolute best I have experienced from anywhere I have ever stayed. They. Worked tirelessly and attentively all day to make this a very special day for both the Bride and Groom and all their guests. This was the general feedback we were receiving from everyone. When you think this could not have been any better, the staff also surprised us with a very special FUN element to the reception, which was a lovely surprise (a very big thankyou) which was enjoyed by every generation at the wedding. I will not mention what it was, so it won't spoil the surprise for future Bride and Grooms celebrating their wedding here. Once again a very big thankyou to all the staff for making my daughter and son in law's wedding a day to remember and I would thoroughly recommend any couple who are still deciding where to have their reception, to book here. A great place to visit if you like history, castles and a wee jaunt around the countryside. The staff was super nice. There is parking right next to the castle but I failed to see the sign and parked a few blocks away in town instead. Pay the extra money and take the tour, it's nice to see the inside of the castle and you learn a lot more and get to see the view from the top, too. Don't forget to ask to see the photos of the Braveheart filming at the entry station. The Baribcan Gate was probably my favorite part. :).
