You need to go here, and you definitely very much need to go to their restaurant. You will NOT regret this.
The food deserves a Michelin star. You will meet a small intimate restaurant with a chef that has a skill for cooking and combining tastes and ingredients way beyond the usual.
We are used to dining out, and value good restaurants and new experiences. But this restaurant just absolutely takes 1st place
He cooks from local groceries, values sustainability and create his dishes from a mix of southern American specialities.
. And on top of this, the service is very good.

Hotel full of beautiful details such as the plastic in costa rica. Furniture very nice and child-friendly spaces to sit and share. The breakfast was delicious. The parking lot, uncomfortable. Room 6. Room without ventilation, only 3 small windows, which anyone can manipulate from the outside. For example, I closed the windows and in the morning I saw a open completely. The bathroom is ridiculously narrow. Does not have cloth to put on floor after getting out of the shower. Listening to all the noise of the staff that moves to the front, all the time. The curtains do not have to close them completely, there is always a hendija that gives no trust, no intimacy, because you is basically in the car the hendija. The Wi-Fi practically doesn't reach that room. The remote control of the TV didn't work, I know, I changed it but just, that they gave me did not work well. In addition, the TV picture is not good. I read on the website that the safe was the size for a laptop, and then no, mine did not fit.

Delicious everything offered on the breakfast, the warmth and willingness of collaborators super refreshing. Excellent!

Great hotel in houses from the 1930s. Breakfast is excellent, everything fresh and good choice. The restaurant also offers great food. Extremely friendly staff.

Lovely little spot, very friendly staff and decent room with a good size safe in it if needed. Stayed here for one night after flying in to San Jose, as a base for a longer Costa Rica trip, and hotel aranjuez was perfect for it. Wonderful breakfast on a beautiful terrace — very welcome after a long day travelling the day before. Recommended.

The rooms were well kept and the people are incredibly hospitaple. The breakfast had great variety. There isn't much of a night life there, but it was nice and calm. The only noise during the night would be the cars and bugs.

We absolutely loved this little hotel for our two night stay in San Jose. People often complain that the walls are thin but it was always quiet where we were. It was like a mini rainforest retreat from the busy city. Bonus: the breakfast was amazing.

Very good location, quiet. Restaurants within a 10-minute walk. Ollio and other Calle 33. We walk a lot so we go to town on foot, to the zoo and the Mercado. Everything on foot, correos etc… But we walk a lot. If not by taxi but the hotel is perfectly located in a quiet street. Good location Breakfast is to be seen, wonderful buffet gargantuan!

The place is perfect for rest, the rooms are comfortable and welcoming. The breakfast is spectacular, buffet style. The interior of the accommodation boasts gardens that provide scenic beauty. The location is away from the center of San Jose 1.5 kms approximately, which ensures a restful. Is 100% recommended.

They put us in a room separate from the hotel, across the street. They said there was Wi-Fi and it was quiet. Hands down, it had to be the noisiest night we have ever spent in a hotel. People screaming, dogs barking, all night long… literally. No Wi-Fi.

I stayed for almost a week staying at this hotel and it was a very good stay, quite quiet, I loved the décor, very clean, the price and service ratio is fine. The hotel sells it as an eco-friendly hotel. The breakfast buffet is the best, abundant and delicious, besides having breakfast in the beautiful garden is very pleasant. It has several gardens and hallways where there are armchairs or chairs, like to rest or read something to the fresco of the garden.

Excellent breakfast! Cool location, walking distance to many restaurants, parks, and museums. Be sure to reserve a parking spot if you are traveling by car.

The best reception in Costa Rica, its people are very attentive and make sure that your stay at the hotel is quality.

We were disappointed with this hotel which yet was recommended by the backroom. I made the reservation on their site almost 1 month and a half early, and I booked a standard room which on the photos is renovated and beautiful. And that must include a window. When we arrive, we have a room with a window of glass plates skew facing a wall! And a window made up of glass plates that close badly overlooking an inner passage patio at the hotel, and on garbage cans. The room is old and has nothing to do with the photos. I will complain by telling them that this corresponds to an economical room given the description of the site, they argue that no and offer me either another room with 2 single beds, old too, and a tiny bathroom, also giving inside of the hotel, or cancel. I find it very unprofessional and disappointing. In addition, the shower was clogged, there was no foot towel for the shower (I had to ask for the reception and I was brought to the heart a towel waist Pocket handkerchief, telling me that normally it is a towel per person to dry and c is all), one of the two towels been arranged on the old and dirty bed top. I heard my neighbour from the top coughing. The double bed is actually 2 old single beds glued. Some jacks do not work, and the ceiling is low and hideous. The site on the benefits. The breakfast and the parking are OK but good not enough to make up the room and the attitude of the staff to the reception.

It was "fine" but a little rough around the edges. E. G. Half of the power outlets seemed not to work, first remote for the TV had no batteries, then when we got batteries realised it was for a different brand of TV. Front desk was very friendly and helpful though, and breakfast was excellent, much better than expected.

Breakfast of the best I have tasted and of the most varied. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy. The hotel is a work of art that is worth visiting, they lack some improvement but it is an amazing place. Totally recommended.

A home away from home! If you're spending a couple of days in San Jose, look no further and stay at Hotel Aranjuez! This place really makes you feel like living in a Costa Rican home — the ambience, decors, unique rooms, and setting is quaint yet beautiful, plus it is very clean! The staff are also friendly too. It's located a few minutes walking distance away from the city centre yet it's quiet enough to have a restful sleep in the evening. I also enjoyed their daily breakfast buffet, with such a delicious pastries and fresh fruits. Staying here is such a great deal! We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Jose.

Stayed here several times so far. A great option for travelers that are on a budget but still want to stay somewhere nice. The buffet breakfast is amazing, make sure to arrive early though.

Charming colonial hotel set in lush tropical gardens in the heart of San José. This hotel is combination of 5 houses and is a pioneer in eco/sustainable tourism. The hotel has undergone some renovations and upgraded its installations, but maintained its charm. The food is amazing, whether breakfast, lunch or supper.

My family and I stayed here in May, and we were not disappointed. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful with all our questions, and when we became ill (not due to the hotel), the hotel went above and beyond to help us. We will never forget their kindness. The rooms are adorable and the shared spaces are quiet and charming. The breakfast is delicious and the terrace is beautiful in the mornings. The hotel is close to many of the attractions as well.

Quant and quirky, this boutique hotel spot has much charm and character. The service was very friendly and the rooms very adequate. An oscillating fan was available in the room, though air-con (if that's your thing) was not. Complimentary coffee and a garden space to sit and read is a nice touch.

First of all the breakfast was amazing! During breakfast you have a beautiful view. Really nice hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms. We left at 6 o'clock in the morning, so we missed the breakfast the second morning. It would be nice if you get something small with you, if you leaving early. We asked for it several times, but we didn't get any response.

Lovely hotel in the middle of San Jose, with a lovely vibe. The rooms are comfortable and have a lot of space. The hotel has a nice tropical garden in the middle of the crowded city, which gave me a good feeling. The staff is nice and the rooms are clean. A recommendation for this hotel!

We booked 2 rooms at this hotel while in Costa Rica and the process was easy enough to do online and so by the time we got to the hotel in the morning, one of the rooms was already available. We got lucky with both our rooms — they were in a quiet area and very spacious and very, very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and Rudolfo went out of his way to help translate English to Spanish with our taxi driver and was so very polite and helpful and made us feel very welcomed. The hotel is really lovely, charming and very clean and in a safe neighborhood. The breakfast was outstanding! Thank you Hotel Aranjuez!

I would recommend this hotel to everyone! The rooms are great, the breakfast is absolutely divine and the staff are extremely helpful and kind. They definitely made the hotel feel like a second home in a matter of days. I've only been here a couple days and it's been a joy and lots to see just a walking distance away.

The best B&B with a very good Breakfast, great staff, very friendly, helpful and hardworking. The new terrace is great. The rooms are large and clean. My second Time here and will come again.

It's my second time here and it was great that I could already into my room at 08: 30h. I like the new terrace at the breakfast room. The breakfast is great and now I am excited about the brunch on Sunday :-D The staff is very amazing and helpful! The room is comfortable, big and clean, however this time to the street. And yes, I will definitely come again :-)

It is a very nice place, really cozy, the rooms and bathrooms are clean. The service is excellent. Finally the breakfast was very good.

Very relaxed atmosphere, nice rooms (stayed 2× now). Some rooms are being renovated now in low season (Sept 2016). Fabulous breakfast. Delightful staff. 15 minutes walk to most places or about $4.

We got such a nice room here! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area, even if it is just for one night. Also the breakfast in the morning was phenomenal!

Hotel nice and simple. Location peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast is excellent. The bathroom of the room we had during our stay was tiny and would not have agreed to a person being overweight.

The Hotel is divided into two units: the actual Hotel, an old building with great interior gardens, terraces, porch, tend to be colonial style. And a second modern Appartementbau. Both are considered property, first of all, Ok, but the Apartments all Flair, of course. In addition, we had infested with tiny insects running everywhere around on the ground. Room also quite small. I think the rooms in the old building of the "superior" category. We had booked on the way back, and were quartered in the main house. No matter where it is housed: the great gardens, a Veranda, a large Breakfast buffet can be enjoyed in any case. The Wi-Fi is that fastest on our tour. The environment in San José is not a significant beautiful, but within walking distance of Restaurants and the shopping mile are reachable. Recommendation.

Best place to stay in San Jose. Convenient to walk to all attractions and shops. The breakfast buffet is legendary. Very good value. Moderately priced. Staff is pleasant and helpful. I stayed in the new annex and loved it.

Was a great hotel no longer new owner should do something else however the staff is very good but too few seems like a place going down hill.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. I saw this hotel on another list and it looked like a great option for an economical stay in San Jose. The location upon first visit appears not the best location; however, after walking around the city, it is obvious the location is on par with the majority of the city. That said, the real charm of the place is inside. It is not posh nor new; however, it has character that quickly grows on you. A lovely atmosphere. The breakfast is bar none, fantastic. Full of fresh fruit, pastries, juices, coffee, pancakes made to order and eggs/omlets made to order. This breakfast was the best we had during our stay in Costa Rica and makes this hotel a real bargan! My largest negative comment is that wireless coverage does not go to all areas of the hotel; however, there is complete coverage in the comfortable public areas, so not a real issues at all. It was nice to see that their public use computers run Linux (Ubuntu). Again, strongly recommended.

This growing collection of classical, colonial period, antique, refurbished inter-connected homes offers a quaint break from the bustle in San Jose with a historic flavor. Located in the center of San Jose close to the Calderon Guardia Hospital and the Courts makes it a convenient crossing path for people of all walks. Hotel Aranjuez is also a popular place just to have early breakfast even if you are not a guest. Friendly squirrels sometimes play camera model for the diners and there is Wi-Fi for those who need a quiet garden to work and eat or plan a trip. 4.5/5 Personal recomendation.
