Truely excellent hotel. We had such a good time there whilst in Costa Rica. Pros- Friendly staff who mostly all speak great English and Spanish, Amazing variety of food for breakfast, so much to choose from, Large pool with poolside seating and hammocks, Super clean rooms, comfy bed, plenty of amenities in the bathroom, free shuttle bus to and from the hotel. Cons — the positioning of the hotel means you can't really walk anywhere. It's surrounded by highways so you'll need to get a taxi wherever you want to go.

Everything was EXCELLENT! Wasn’t too far from the city. Clean rooms with two beds, lamp, nice view of the city, a safe, a wine bar, and robes. In the bathroom had a hair dryer, a glass tub, clean mirrors, and a glass sink. As soon as you left the room, the housekeeper would come and fix up everything!,

It’s my family’s first time in Costa Rica. The room view was disappointing—but at least there’s a balcony to stare at the roof. The gardens & pool are wonderful. The staff is mostly nice, except the one at the gym. I was trying to figure out some machines and trying to ask for help— he said he doesn’t speak or understand English and pretty much went about his business and tried to ignore me. Most places will at least try to help the guest or get the front desk person to help. I managed to put as much Spanish as I could muster “Ayudarme, no comprende la machina Por favor. Mira por favor. ” So he finally decided to come look. I just hadn’t pulled a knob far enough up. Aside from that, room service is great. The kids love the variety of options for the breakfast and dinner buffet. The artwork on the walls are nice too.

15 minutes from the airport. Oasis in the city. Friendly staff excellent pool and gym facilities and great breakfast buffet. Clean rooms. Not walking distance however to shops, restaurants downtown. If you stay here you will be secluded from the rest of San Jose unless you taxi in.

Strategic location, close to the city, approximately 10 km from Juan Santamaria International Airport, comfortable rooms and recreation and relaxation areas Although the view is not its strong it offers the advantage of the location to make touches by the City.

In my experience of an all inclusive service, the limitations and policies with which this hotel counts make it look like a real scam!
It's a shame because the place is nice, the staff is not sufficiently trained to provide a good deal and professionalism.
Definitely I will not go back to this hotel.
As a suggestion, asesórense well on the included services to make the cost/benefit decision in the all-inclusive plan.

Though the hotel is relatively close to the airport if there is no traffic, you have to catch an Uber/car service to downtown which is on the other side of the highway and only a few minutes away. The hotel was nice, great view at least on our side of the hotel, decent on site restaurants. Friendly & helpful staff & you can plan excursions out and about with the on site adventure desk or go do your own adventures. Live dancing at night in the bar and the pool is nice to relax in during the day.

Stayed for a week it was a good time at this hotel. Exterior around the hotel has really a beautiful nature and interior as well. Rooms are good and regularly being maintained.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The place was clean and quiet. Breakfast and dinner buffet are a must. I didn't get to go in the pool but it looked nice. The gym was also very well maintained. Only con is that it's not near anything.

The rooms are really comfortable. The attention is very good. There is a person who comes to play piano which I love.

I have never been in a hotel that is so grandiose and wonderful, this hotel offers everything that I needed for my vacation and I really love the excellent service that the staff. Has provided me, They are simply one of the best staff I have ever encountered in my travel. I love he choices and selections of food and their amenities is one of the best that San Jose has to offer! I rate this hotel 5 Star service all the way! We will come back again for sure.

The place is cozy, but the service was not the best we were left waiting 2 hours after the check-in time to deliver the room, the food at night was cold, the breakfast this ok, only at reception we were told that we could leave at 1pm by the per but they got us out 45 minutes before the reception departure time.

Very natural breakfast, good buffet. Garden is small and beautiful, we found the hummingbird in the morning, very lucky! Waiter service is polite and respectful, speaking good English.

Comfortable and elegant hotel spacious rooms. Ideal for sightseeing or work break. Widely used by tour companies.

Old and helmeted hotel, poor breakfast, nice pool, old and expired sauna but very hot, bad that you don't have lounge chairs to relax

Wonderful hotel near downtown San Jose. Rooms are large and clean. Staff is very friendly. If you go, make sure that you get a room on the 6th floor (the 'premium' floor). It was only about $20 more per night. But, you had your own concierge. There was a separate check in/check out. And, there was a "lunch" room that really could be used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room includes beer and wine. Our flight in required us to get up at 3:15 am. It was so nice to be able to get into the hotel after travelling all day and have this nice little spot right outside our room to enjoy a meal. Staff was very friendly. They went out of their way to help. Only kinda negative was when we went to book a tour (we were here with a Caravan tour, came in a day early and wanted a short tour of San Jose). The person at the tour desk was pushing very hard to sell a more expensive tour than what we wanted. It all worked out fine. But, it was the only experience we had where the staff could have been a little more friendly. If I go back to San Jose, I would definitely stay here!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I waited almost 20 minutes just for first care and … it wasn't even 50% full. Much better restaurants. Nice green areas. Elegant reception.

Beautiful hotel, located on the outskirts of the capital Costs Rica. Hotel offers an adult pool and a pool for children, as far as a pool bar. Hotel complex overall very large but slightly older in the décor. Employees very friendly and courteous. Especially the lounge. There is a free airport shuttle at fixed departure times.

This is a very convenient location for meetings. It has enough parking space and you can also easily get there by taxi. I didn't spend the night there, my review applies for meetings and conference rooms.

Nice hotel but a little out of the center of San Jose. If you want you can take the official taxis of the hotel that you can take for $12 to downtown. Then the normal taxi return from the city can cost between 3000 to 4000 colones, about 5 or 6 dollars, depends on the traffic.
It is advisable to take a room on the floor five or six, in which you have your premium service with meals and drinks at almost all hours of the day. The hotel also has a Japanese.

When we arrived, the staff was a bit rude with us, probably because of how we were dressed. This place seems very classy, however the rooms are a bit old school style. The bed is comfortable and it’s a quiet hotel, there is not much around nor is there a lot of walking to do (you can walk around leaving the hotel but there is not much around). The airport is very close about 10-15 minutes, and they do provide shuttle, however the shuttle is only once an hour. Another note, this place may be ready for a lawsuit against some people if they don’t change their temperature of water. It is literally so hot (the shower) that it can give you a serious burn. Be careful, putting it at the mid line is hot enough. The only downside of this place is that they have a gym, but this gym closes at certain hours, they should make it 24/7, a few of the machines didn’t work, but they have a lot to choose from (the back treadmill, and elliptical sort of machine towards the back, both did not work). They offer breakfast, however, we had to leave before we could try it out. Other than that not that bad of a hotel.

Nice hotel. Good restaurant. A bit noisy from the street. You can hear the engine brakes of the American trucks miles.

Front desk service PREMIUM was rescued by young people Roberto CORTEZ and Allison Cuninham as the others were arrogant, rude, apathetic in their attention, NULL in human relations mainly Sebastián, Cristhofer Cortes, María José.
The RESTAURANT Anfora excellent kindness of Alexander, Maria Jose, Andrea and the manager Cristhofer, Yoraima (in charge of omelet), but they must improve the variety of the breakfasts and dinners as it was the same in three alternate days.
The bar El Bosque lousy attention what was rescued was the waiter in the early morning.

Drum transfer Service There was Hotel San Jose lousy (they must be cautious when subcontracting companies that leave this hotel chain unseen.
All of the above is for you to take a letter in the matter and try to improve on the weak points of care for us frequent and UNIQUE category guests.

Really bother me that both restaurant that we had dinner at denied that a service charge was include and also my bill didn't show it. A visibly display of the full cost of all items on their menus should include service charge in detail. I'm a good tipper so there was no need to hide that fact of the charge.

Beltone is nice nice and clean a lot of nice persons giving us a good service.

Barceló San José looks nice in website but upon arrival you son note the rooms — nice if it was 1990 but carpets & furnishings are dated and strong melded odor. The lobby and grounds are pretty but I suspect most would not appreciate as I am a gardening fool! Pool is very shallow so forget about diving (hasn't mattered as it's been raining constantly on my trip! In closing I would say you could do better with a newer hotel as there are plenty here. I don't think Barceló should be neglecting this hotel as it really does have a nice location and views with easy access. Get with it!

Excellent rooms and amenities, good breakfast and kind staff.

The staff were friendly and even gave us some ideas of where we could go out at night dancing. The hotel does have a restaurant and also has a pretty huge breakfast buffet which was really good. They do have a free shuttle service to the airport, just make sure you tell the front desk and reserve a spot. Room service was nice and did a good job, and the place is pretty clean. I would definitely look to stay here again.

3.5 It's a nice hotel, but feels like it hasn't been updated since the 80s. Clean rooms and friendly staff. English is OK.

The hotel is aging. It looks as though it was top of the line thirty years ago, but today it's in need of some maintenance. We were in elevator number 1 when the power went out. Power came back but the elevator wouldn't move. The phone in the elevator cut out and though we tried calling the hotel through cellular service we were routed to a call center that was confused and dropped the call when transferring to the hotel. All in all we were stuck in the elevator for over an hour before someone finally wedged the doors open and we had to climb out from between floors. Food at the restaurants is amazing though. Their bar doesn't mix drinks, but live music is nice. All in all, take the stairs and your stay should be pleasant.

Good place to see San Jose. Everything perfect the only thing that is a little retired to walk to the Center.

Pauley staff. They charged me twice, one by expedia and other at the hotel although we present the confirmation of expedia.
At reception they made a comment that humiliated us, they had half an hour waiting to check-in and another half hour to check out, despite giving them the number of confirmation of expedia, we got past 9:30 pm super tired and not so facilitated us things. Restaurants closed at 10:30, we were 20 minutes trying to call and never attended us, room phone non-Serbian and from my cell phone, I had to call reception so I communicate with any restaurant. In reception were in helping us but neither told us nothing or gave us any choice. Almost 11 pm and eat until we got to the bar (which nobody at the front desk told us that it was an option) and pudimso meal.
In short we do not return.
simply do not return, nor a star give them but to publish I have to put one.

A good place to hold an event for work… a bit complicated access to stay visit when one comes to work in SJ.

This hotel is not very pedestrian-friendly, but it's rooms are comfortable and quiet. The swimming pool is unpopular maybe because of the chilling winds. Very kind atention all the way from the front desk to the in-room service. Breakfast is included and very complete with lots of options on the buffet. They have shuttles to the Juan Santamaría airport, free underground parking.

More than 1 hour and a half to deliver us room even after time for check inn. The staff is not friendly or attentive.

Comfortable hotel on the outskirts of San Jose. Good place to stay to it becomes it or exit from the country, is next to the international airport. Very attentive treatment. Good and varied breakfast. A certain local bourgeoisie there celebrates its events, resulting in surprising for the traveller or tourist.

Good and nice hotel, it has all the basics and a little bit more, however it is not as premium as I thought it will be, still very nice place to stay though.

The worst internet that I have seen in years, is complicadisimo connect, it only allows 2 devices (currently any person load with 3) and if that was not enough this is limited to a speed offense, not even I can see a single youtube video on the quality lower, the hotel in everything else this comodo, but it is un-thinkable that the cost of this hotel does not have something as basic as a Wi-Fi acceptable.

Generally very good hotel, service, food, etc. One complaint: there always seems to be a party going on, either in the ballroom or outside, with loud music. We had to move room once, and when we returned after a week in the north, and said we wanted a silent room (referring to the previous episode), we ended up with yet another party outside the windows. I am writing this review now that I can't sleep due to the party.

A success full for our honeymoon we went one night and it was the best thing.

Hotel was beautiful, food was amazing. Not one complaint on my end.

I've been coming here for years, typically every two years, but it has declined alot. The rooms are still good, but amenities fell considerably. First, there is no Casino even though it's still in the name and all literature States it's there. The bar is abysmal, staff is more concerned with thier cell phones and playing videos of Latin twerking. Even the manager doesn't cater to guest needs. So, rooms alone are good, but highly recommend the Irazu hotel over here.

I didn't like for nothing I picked up at the airport being pay service charge wf, deposit with credit card is needed to make a local call not nice there were no buttons on the input pending suitcases rather not return should go to medellin for you to see as it is served to a guest.

Excellent place. The event Hall is very spacious and comfortable. Excellent parking and infrastructure.

I stayed in that old old hotel. Had very bad experience with over all service, room service very poor, refrigerators were locked, call customer service 5 times to unlock it never happened. Worst breakfast buffet, not even one person smile At you. No body showed up at the airport.
