Muy lindo el hotel y la ubicación, habitaciones muy aseadas y excelente atención. Las bebidas son muy buenas y la comida rica, lo único malo es que no hay más variedad en comida como en otros lugares y que los restaurantes a la carta no tienen el suficiente espacio para la cantidad de huéspedes del hotel, así que si uno va debe madrugar para poder reservar espacio.

The place is great. The food is not so great. It is overpriced, like most hotels in Costa Rica.

Used to be a quite fancy place. In need of a makeover. Nino is a fantastic waiter if you are able to get him. 5 star location. 4 star pool. 2 star resort.

Great weekend with my friends.
I hope to be back soon. We were very well served and the food was pretty good. The drinks at ron ron were delicious, although some were a bit sweet.
The room, although we only used it for sleep, looked pretty clean and well maintained.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
In short a good weekend in a hotel with good value for money.

I really like this place, I have visited it many times with my family. They have very rich food and entertaining shows, although I would vary them because they have been very similar in all the occasions I have gone. The cocktails are also rich, the pools too. Rooms are normal. The service of the people is good, but the daily service in the room, as delivery of drinks etc you have to be constantly claiming because they do not leave the indicated amount. Very clean place, very nice to be with family and hang out without worrying about making food. Desserts more or less, always the same, need more variety.

My husband and I chose the hotel for our honeymoon and it was definitely the best decision. They squealed us from the entrance. Upon check in our room was ready early, the décor of it was lovely, we were filled with complimentary all stay, fruits, dinners in restaurants, tours and even breakfast in the room. We really enjoyed the time of staying at the hotel. We would like to thank the young people who work in the hotel with our heart, it is admirable to see the daily work they do, the energy and the commitment. In particular we want to thank the young lady who brought us the courtesies to the room, unfortunately we could not know her name but she was a really nice young lady. We also want to recognize the service of Luis Abarca the salonero of the restaurant of seafood meat because it provided us a true customer service, for its charisma and the desire with which it performs its work, was on the lookout of more than 3 tables and never neglected us, is a really warm person and worth admiring. Also a huge thank you to Gonzalo the young man from the tour reservations department who is next to the reception as he helped us with the reservations of the dinners in the restaurant. Finally a huge thank you to Katia Blanco who works in Barceló San Jose Palacio for the service provided before and during our stay, its efficiency and customer service were wonderful.
We really enjoyed it!

(IMPORTANT: Please read the following paragraph first. ) For starters, they are not benefiting the planet. They constantly use plastic cups and straws. There are no recycling bins, just trash bins. This is one major issue that's occurring global wise. Not to mention, you can find tons of plastic straws and cups laid out across the beach. This is causing major damage to the earth and the wildlife within it. We need to do something about this. (IMPORTANT) "Read Above" It was a great hotel, however the "Everything included" is unfortunately false. You must pay for Wi-Fi which is $12 for a day. Also gotta pay for towels if you lose them, $20. When playing mini-golf, if you lose the golf ball that's another $10. You also have to pay $5 or 3, 900¢ for playing at the pool table for an hour. Now for the gym, if you don't have tennis shoes you cant work out. Which is a typical rule I for say. For children wanting to work out, they must be with a adult with them at all times. Gym is open from 7am to 7pm. For sports there's a lot of options, some of these include Basketball, Football (Soccer), Mini-Golf (As mentioned before), Tennis, Ping-pong and the list goes on. The waitress's are very kind and will assist you with anything necessary. One of the chefs, Edward was his name. He was some pretty cool dude, always respectful and a kind individual. I hope to see him in the future when I go back there.

Lousy place does not deserved to be a five star hotel; one star is too much. Safety box was not working properly and was easy to open with only a screwdriver that could be stock in a hole. A sewer scent could be felt around our room. Lack of towels. Long lines for the restaurant, for the bars, for checking in and checking out. Was retained (illegally) at the gate because I did not have a pass that they did not give it to me. They pretended that I back up my car for more than half a mile to the parking lot or walk to the front desk for it. They did not register my room properly and I was contacted by phone everyday for the three days I spent there asking why I was staying in the this room and when I was checking out and under which name the reservation was made; three times I answered the same. I was approached by a security guard once asking what I was doing in that room since it was vacant. I guess you could find better food in a jail restaurant. They never have enough tables when meals were offer and had to wait in line to get one, and when we got it it was ready and full of dishes and cutlery used by the previous occupants. I do not recommend this place at all.

Dancers, the high-command do not answer or say the good morning or nights are very bitter the place is too nice there is very good security.

The Place was very clean and tidy. Has changed a lot, and improved, over time. Overall the staff were very attentive.
They make many rows at the front desk so consider whether you should do the quick checkout.

The most affordable hotel in all inclusive. Spacious and tidy Rooms. Qualified Personnel. Variety on your menu. And The restaurants a la carte excellent.

Nice place good food and they cater very well book by the page and subscribe to my Barceló to get a gift voucher. Very good sushi and green tea ice cream… without words.

Great location, no AC in public places and restrooms, low quality amenities, poor service, worst check out process ever. You must prepare before check out time otherwise they'll let you starve.

I didn't like it. The room was overlooking the sea, and the sea barely looked. Otherwise I was arriving early to the buffet restaurant had to line up and the food was over. The bathroom in the room was functional but not pleasant to view.

The right way to say is a really nice place for people with family and kids a lot of activities to do, entertainment for the whole family, food included the rates are really good, I just think that this is not the correct place for people that are looking relaxing and private and quiet place, but instead for people that are looking activities and actions party and good food. Is great place depending of that your looking for.

Unfortunately our experience in this hotel started from the moment we checked in. The receptionist that helped us on our check in was Karla Barquero, she failed to explain where were the restaurant, and quickly told us the times, my mom asked her if she could write down the times so we wouldn’t forget and she took a deep breath and told us it was on the paper with the key. She never smiled or made us feel welcome while we were there, she just looked annoyed like she just wanted to leave. Sadly, this was not our only negative experience with the hotel, when we arrived in the room the bathtub had soap on the corners, and there was no towels in the room, the ac wasn’t working, the mini fridge was empty, and the door was not working. I told two staff member about this issues but nothing was done, my boyfriend had to go personally to the lobby and complain for them to finally do something about it. Our biggest disappointment was there was no Wi-Fi, this was a huge inconvenience for me since I do all my work online. If I would have known Wi-Fi was $14 a day, I would have booked somewhere else. The food was ok, not much variation. I only enjoyed the restaurant near the beach it had an amazing view. I personally would not recommend this hotel, I have been all over Costa Rica and this hotel needs major renovation, better customer service, and better food. The hotel is over crowded and it’s not relaxing at all. Pool was filthy with people leaving cups behind.

It's a nice place. Strong points: 1 — The service 2 — The rooms are good. 3 — The variety of activities. 4 — Beautiful nature views. Weak points: 1 — The food is not bad, but just normal. 2 — Internet connection is super bad : (

It is a Hotel in the Q enjoy the whole family, cute, not very fancy, the food I always liked here. Cocktails are rich. Cleanliness is not the best but it is acceptable. The beach is beautiful and big although the sea is dangerous. Many rows x Q I recommend pay before you get to the hotel and Q if you pay at the hotel can you touch the longest row.

I loved the human talent… it is what I valued most during my stay there… all! Without exception they are very friendly people nice and well presented. Excellent.

Treat the customer badly as it is possible that the paid the reservation for days we avenge here and not bring the card with which the reservation was cancelled tell us very easily can not enter you have to go as if coming here from three Rivers with a few from The 5am were like living in front of the hotel that lack of common sense.

The rooms are very outdated. I came here over 20 yrs ago and everything looks the same. Too much money for the room (We are a big family) although the beds are super comfortable.

All inclusive = limited. Just like everyone else does I search all the papular travel sites, saw the pictures and reviews. Since we were not sure what direction we were going to travel, we did not do any bookings. Once we reach Tambor airport, we decided to call Barcelo Tambor to see if they had avaliable room for the weekend. To our surprised they said yes. The entrance is very grand, the road line with trees, a long private driveway. Alot of security in which my wife likes. Large tall open lounge reception area. Very elegant. In regards to the ground, building and floor plan is exucuted very well, lots of open places beautiful lounges, great large several pools that lead to a swim up bar. I would give it a 4 star for the set up of the hotel. All inclusive =Limited. You have to purchase Wi-Fi services in which has a weak signal. Alcoholic drinks and special drinks included beer is Imperial, drinks are done with local alcohol brands. If you want top shelve you have to pay for it witch is not a problem, until you have to go to the reception desk pay for and return to the bar with a receipt. Very inconvenient. They have a great bar area with a pool table that invites you to play, so you ask the bar tender for the billard balls the bar tender again direct you to the reception desk to be told that you rent it by the hour. They have live shows set up for the family and young audience and live comics but its all in Spanish.

Very big and nice hotel… many activities to do.
Very clean rooms and very friendly collaborators… fixed we'll come back.

I mustn't qualify him for you. You will. You will do it from your perspective when you live the stay with your loved ones. Recommendations: plan your holiday in time, because if you do it in high season, the good and excellent hotels will always be saturated and Barceló Tambor is no exception. However I tell you that my experiences in Barceló Tambor are totally cyclical, it is a magical place of natural charm, with an excellent staff that makes you feel good, a place where you have everything you need for a good rest and a good experience in a unique and incomparable environment since you leave tothes on the ferry. Personally I consider it not necessary to know other beach hotels, Barceló tambor offers everything at the best price and of good quality.

I was very disapointed and disgusted because the restaurant service weren’t friendly, buffet was dirty (food as well) … We left immediatly!

The resort is very nice. But the food is not good.

We were at the end of October and the beginning of November. I must say, they've worked hard to get better. The friendly staff and the maintenance and maintenance of the hotel really impeccable! The benefits offered by "My Barceló" became effective as offered. We really feel "chineados"

Beautiful site but need renovation especially the rooms.

A nice hotel. But with 500 rooms, at least with 1500 people in the holiday season is just too much. The food was not even poor canteen quality. A lot of kids. The breakfast room is totally overburdened a queue between 8 and 9 o'clock from 10 to 20 meters. The Costa Ricans don't bother the wait patiently. So not recommended during the holiday season. Internet is very expensive.

A great hotel for vacation the comfortable rooms has a golf course, spa, sweet, butterfly, the meals are super delicious really a great place I hope to go for the fourth time to the Barcelo.

Excellent everything. The sadness is in front desk at check in and worse at check out time. The entrance and exit I considered for this "half days of vacation".

Excellent for family enjoyment, in some areas the service is excellent in others not, the room was very clean and the bedding and towels in very good condition, the pools are nice but it gets critical the fact of finding chairs around the pool, the beach was very clean and many ardillitas and iguanas arrive, the area where the macaws are; If there are many, some very well and others do not seem to be in such good condition, should have wider and higher spaces to fly…

Huge complex or food waste is horrible! The cleanliness of the sheets, the bathrooms is bad and the pool where people singing is more than salty. On the other hand, the beach is very beautiful.

Of course thank you for understanding our concerns, in fact I have recommended with some colleagues and now in December we will visit 19 people. Very friendly.

The buffet was great, however the snacks were awful, the waiting time for your room when check in is absolutely ridiculous! You have to wait until 330 pm and it was not ready! We had to tell the receptionist we were not going to give the hotel more time to give us our room so they could take actions!

I had the opportunity to visit the hotel with my husband, the stay was great, the facilities and the rooms very clean, the meals and drinks very varied and delicious; Fabulous night shows, like a constructive critique the front desk staff should be more friendly; Since it is the first image of one as a client is that of them to enter the hotel, they must provide more information to the customer and not be so sharp, also the staff of the bars and waiters should be more courteous, not be so serious.
But all in all it is very good and I hope soon to return with my children.

Un lugar muy bonito, con gran variedad de comidas. Falta más entretenimiento durante el día, el personal sonrie muy poco, y la habitación tenía problemas, el aire acondicionado botaba agua, el extractor de aire no funcionaba, ni la tina, sábanas manchadas. Para comer en algun hotel especial, tienen cupo limitado, y las reservas se entregan a las 8:00a. M. Por lo que me sentí en un edificio publico, porque a las 8:50, ya no habian reservaciones, eso se podría programar desde que uno realiza la reservación.

Food could be much better. The drinks included are of lower quality. Kids activities are decent.

Good experience. Food is good, staff is good. Just be warned that there is a croc in the water and they're not letting people go in. I wish we had known that before booking.

Very nice rooms and service food its very good.

Very nice but not quite totally included as they promised. They charge for almost everything. Only paid internet, and paid beers except for a couple of draft beer, they ran out of sodas cokes early, etc. The customer service was great though.

Very good place to relax and enjoy. The waiter boy, is an excellent person, we offer a very good service. The only problem was the large number of flies that surround the place. Return provided to eliminate that problem.

Must get the all inclusive, makes everything's more tolerable.

This is a very nice place to spend some nice moments. I've been here in August 2014 I loved, nice beer, nice food, and nice entertainment as well.

The food was not good, a lot of loud and noisy families, just not what I expected from a hotel with such high rates, will not go again.

Barcelo Tambor is one of the hotels of playa all inclusive most visited of CR. I go several times to the year but not recommend go when there are more holidays because is full. Is a nice, neat, rich food, good service, nice rooms, friendly staff. I've never had any complaint. On the contrary, much like go.

Very nice hotel went for our honeymoon and it is very nice, the facilities the spectacular flora and fauna the facilities very good.

Poor care, the staff is not well prepared to cater to the guests.
Not comply with offers of promotional royalty for that make.
The quality of the food is to weaken much.
Sen facilities are very impaired since this is an old hotel.

Haceadas deliver the rooms not very, previous guests rubbish left in different parts of the room…

The price-quality relationship is quite good, good food, pretty rooms suitable, common facilities are always well maintained, clean beach… the only thing is that depending on the influx of check-in should have more staff receiving the public (it took us more than an hour). Otherwise Barceló Tambor Beach is always a powerful option to choose.

I visited him a month ago, I loved everything except one thing, the music of the discotek, it's only for young people, all the while that I was not varied. Deverian improve that. Apart from that, I liked it very much, I will come back to visit.

Nice place, but very poor care at the reception. Phones in the rooms would not be arriving to the reception and you were slow and unwillingly. Pool towels did not have very good scent although in theory good clean give them to you.

Very nice facility, friendly staff, delicious food, some naughty Streiffenhörnchen, lots of iguanas to see, so that's almost the perfect getaway if the Disco is not so loud.

The food and rooms service are good. But, in the day I arrived there was a problem with the electricity. All-included? I guess no. I needed to spend $25 to use the wireless service. And the signal is very poor. The hotel is good, the beach is beautiful, but it has some little problems.
