Very pleasant experience for the price of this room. Location is central in downtown Montreal. Room was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Will definitely consider this hotel again next time I am in Montreal.

Solid 3 stars you can rely on to stay in a fairly clean, central location. There is a shared kitchen on the 3rd floor.

Tl;dr this hotel's staff either stole an expensive item I lost or allowed the next guest to do so. This review concerns the hotel's staff and employees, not the room itself. The room was quite nice for what we paid for it and I have no complaints about the hotel facilities. My partner and I stayed here for one night while visiting from the US. The morning we left, my iPad was left behind in the desk drawer. We didn't realise this until 4pm that day, and when we called we were told that 1) someone new had already checked into the room, 2) they wouldn't be able to enter the room without that person present, and 3) they had no way of reaching that person other than calling the room or waiting until they checked out the next day. In the meantime, I received an e-mail saying my Pinterest account had been used, from that iPad, in Canada, at 1:38pm that day — — between when we checked out and their check-in time of 3pm. I hadn't used Pinterest at all during our stay. We had to return to the US that evening, without the iPad. The next day, we called after checkout time (noon) and were told that they checked the room after the guest left and found nothing, they had asked both that day and the previous day's custodians, and those people also found nothing. To top it off, the person we spoke to was extremely unhelpful and unsympathetic.

I stayed at Hotel Y Montreal for 2 nights on my own for a concert in July. I chose this hotel because it was very close to the Bell Centre, it was relatively affordable, and it had great reviews. Honestly Hotel Y probably exceeded my expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect since the hotel is a part of YWCA (the proceeds go towards that organization too). It is on the 7th floor of the building. My room was very very clean and had all the basics you'd expect in a hotel room — small fridge, coffee maker with coffee, TV, etc. The service at the reception was very good and pleasant. I really can't of any complaints. It was perfect as a homebase/accommodation for when you are out and about in the city all day. I also recommend the cafe on the ground floor of the building — it was excellent.

Hotel was fine for what you pay but parking is on the street, the reception desk told us. What they didn't tell us (wether because they didn't know or forgot to tell us or just didn't tell us — — all of which is bad) is that you will get a ticket ($62) if you don't know/find/see of a sign that overrides all the other signs that otherwise allow you to park for the night, till 9 am. Any local cop or parking attendant will tell you what that sign is and what it says. But as out of towners, we didn't stand a chance.

Cheap clean and very well located. The mattress was not very comfortable, but not so much that it affected our stay.

Great location The rooms are simple but functional. A common kitchen is available.

I will start by saying I am black. I am black y'all, I arrived with two girlfriends and we were in line to check in. The lady at the reception calls out a girl who was behind us. We were like OK she was young whatever she checked in, then as we were proceeding to check in she immediately got up and started helping this guy that was standing next to the queue WHAT?! We were literally approaching the desk with our printouts and she stood up to start helping the other guy. OK so we thought maybe she doesnt like sitting down… But it didnt end there. We were in the elevator and not only did nobody ride the elevator w us. They were also getting off. We felt so strange. We entered the elevator with one of the staff and the 6th floor was pressed but as soon as we got in she got off on the 2nd floor. This has never happened to us before. We would consider ourselves an attractive well put together bunch but apparently not for the YWCA or its staff. Now after reading the other comments it seems that racism is quite rampant here. Quite shocking not what I would expect of the ywca.

If anyone wants to verify my story please contact me: I have stayed at the YWCA Vancouver, Banff / other YWCA Hotels including and never have I been treated like the way I was in Montreal. The YWCA Montreal was a very traumatizing experience for me. I have to comment on an experience that happened to me here less than a year ago. I suspect because of my race I was targeted for "security" by staff here. I did not feel welcome and sensed 'pure laine' quebecois attitude towards poc. First a mysterious person whom I later found out to b staffstarted asking me random questions about who I was, what I was doing etc. Then I was followed and threatened with being kicked out if I didn't have a room… apparently the member of staff who followed me could not believe that I could have a room at the ywca… seriously. Very rude, racist and extremely traumatizing. I would not recommend this location to anyone and if anyone wants to verify my story they may contact me because upon complaining to the staff I saw the angle they wanted to take… after my complaint they said that they wanted to execute and check security of the building hence the reason for questions/being followed… seriously I have their reasons in writing and it is the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen. I have stayed at the YWCA Vancouver as well as many other YWCA Hotels including Banff and never have I been treated like the way I was in MOntreal. The YWCA Montreal was the worst.!

Very clean, super affordable and really well situated. The rooms are small but for the price it's perfect!

Did not like it, facilities were ok/clean but I will only speak for myself to say that I was not comfortable, not comfortable at all. It may be low priced but the good facilities are taken down by suspicious service. Was not treated with basic respect; felt like I was constantly under scrutiny, better to go to the Holiday Inn across the street I am not sure why Im suspect.

No AC during winter. Its cold outside but the room is hot. Called the reception desk about it and no help. They told me to open the window but no use. The air from the hallway pushes the air out of the window.

Good service and room OK. But it fesait cold in the room and no way to increase the temperature (to my knowledge) it is true that it was an exceptionally cold day so maybe it's not always like that.

Best accommodation for the price. Convenient location, close to a station. Beds are clean and comfortable. I book the private rooms. There is a coffee maker with coffee in room with whitener, tastes decent. Building has a small thrift clothing store but it's closed on weekends. First floor has very nice diner style restaurant, great value and service for a breakfast meal.

Good for the price! The room was clean and comfortable. The shared washrooms and showers were nice — private stalls, with benches, hooks, etc. — and also clean. The location was convenient — close the a metro station, and the cafe attached to the restaurant was good for breakfast. My only complaint would be that it was very hot in the room and we couldn't seem to control the temperature.

Tv was not working the 1st night and then the next day the shower was clogged… which strangely enough made the toilet back up. No one offered to move us, had to ask myself. Stayed last year and had a much better experience than this time around.

The hotel it's self was very nice and the staff was very friendly. The location was perfect for us as we were there for the US consulate and we arrived by train. The room was decent but not amazing (however we were looking for a lower price). There was a bedside lamp and one dim wall mounted light. The beds were fairly hard and the room was kind of cold. I didn't find an option for a heater and the tiled floor just made it feel more cold. Everything in the room was very clean and a small TV was provided with multiple channels.

Very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is shared for the whole floor but showers have private stalls and there is a sink in each room. Reception was helpful and friendly and the rate was very reasonable.

Very good hotel close to the central station where we had to catch a train in the morning.

A hotel accessible in terms of price, both clean and functional.
Provision of a washing machine/dryer for those who need it, a luggage deposit (think anyway has a cadena) and a welcome 24/24 that can deliver us valuable advice on the city.
The location is perfect just 2 steps from the city centre… and at 0, 5 from a Starbucks and a traditional cafe.
Finally, the stay is useful because it wants to be responsible by supporting a women's aid association.
Only Bemol, the view (from our room) was not on the street side.

The hotel is very clean and the location is very nice. Too bad you miss the bathroom in the room although the services are clean.

I had a very bad experience with this hotel. We booked a room for a friend. We gave the credit card number, when the person presented it contacted me to confirm the relocation.
The agent didn't want to know anything, he said we need to move to accept our credit card. I explained that we were 1000 miles from Montreal but he didn't want to know anything, he didn't even want to pass the phone to our friend so we could talk to him.

The hotel is comfy and perect for the price. Myself and a friend shared a room with a double bed and have no complaints between us. The bathrooms are communal, which is the only issue I think someone may have. The room has air conditioning that doesn't seem to be overly effective, but we simply striped a few blankets from the bed. It feels a bit more like a hotel than hostel, but we loved our stay!

My stay at the ywca is unforgettable.

Very friendly staff, clean place, good price, very close to metro and Montreal center. Not high luxury but good, clean accommodation in good working order. There's a clean equipped kitchen you can use, wahing machines etc. And your money goes to a good charity, helping girls and women.

We booked the room with two double beds and private bathroom for 3 nights. The room was a bit dim but better than I expected for the price. Area is really convenient, with access to the metro and lots to do within walking distance. When we came in, the person at the reception showed us a bunch of things to do in Montreal and even marked it on a map for us, detailing transit routes.

The Y hotel is a very comfy and affordable hotel, I got a double room for 3 people and liked very much, the beds could be a little bigger but it's ok.

Worst place I've never been to. Food is imaginarily dut.

Friendly Service, rooms small but perfectly adequate. Everything is clean. No Bells And Whistles. Miltikultureller meeting point of different age groups. Absolutely recommendable Hotel not only because of the favourable location.

Central to Montreal. Clean, simple and cheap.

I stayed at Hotel Y de Montreal at the end of July 2008. It was perfect for my needs. It was centrally located, it was clean, and it was under $100, all in, and I had a private bath. I stayed in a "Standard Room — Simple. 1 double bed and private bath. " It was $75.00. I booked it on-line only a couple of days before. The lady at the front desk was very nice. The bedroom area and the bathroom was very clean, The floor that I was on was very quiet (keep in mind I was on a floor with a private room and bath. ) The bed was comfortable. My only "complaint" was the water pressure in the shower, which was low, BUT, I still can't knock it, as it was sufficient. Here was my deal: I was going for a whirlwind trip: a concert. I would be staying only 1 night and heading back to Toronto the very next morning, for another engagement the following evening. My main concern was clean, under $100 (esp. During prime Summer season), and very centrally located to Centre Bell, and the train station. This proved to be a challenge, of course, as there are lots of nice hotels in Montreal for much more money. None of the major ones had a deal, unless you were staying multiple nights. I could not stay multiple nights, and it made no sense to me to pay too much money, when I would barely be there, and just wanted a clean, solid, safe place to sleep and shower. On-line reviews of Hotel Y were key in my decision, so Thanks to all that wrote them.
