Fern Resort Amazing food, service, and entertainment. Every staff member friendly, professional and very happy. The management was amazing, like nothing I’ve experienced. The entertainment was top notch. Kids entertainment and programming all day and so interesting. Looking forward to our next Ontario Fern all inclusive resort vacation. ❤️ Thank you mom and dad for this truly wonderful honeymoon.

This place has very friendly staff, clean spacious rooms and the food here is amazing! There is also so much to do here I. The summer and the water view is just breath taking some days.

My daughter (5) and I had such an incredible time at Fern. The activities are outstanding for kids and families, and adults! The afternoon and evening shows were very well enjoyed, my daughter loved the kids club and between swimming in the pools, kayaking, paddle boarding, beach, fishing, trampolines, mini-putt, nature trail, bikes, hammocks, hot tubs, bocce ball, tennis, and more there was never a lack of things to do! At the same time the vibe was relaxed and not hectic or busy. The staff were awesome. The food was delicious! The service was a little bit slow and if you are looking for perfection you could find a way to ruin your stay here, but if you are looking for fun, relaxed, memorable, easy vacation with your family without worrying about all of the details you will not be disappointed at Fern. As a single parent it took all of the work out of the activities and let me relax and have all the fun with my daughter. Would highly recommend, thanks for a great vacation Fern! 😁

It is nice here, I haven’t even here for quite a few years. I’m here for a work retreat. Only think I’m not impressed with is my room. It’s like I stepped back into 1980. The room is so out dated. It needs a upgrade badly.

We had a wonderful vacation! So many fun things to do. Food was amazing! Loved our little cottage. Only thing that could have made it perfect for my hubby and I was a bit more comfortable mattress. But we booked again for next year so it wasn’t a deterrent.

All I can say is that the Fern Resort has the most amazing staff! Matt pictured here with my girls was not only the best bingo caller but part of an entertainment crew who made everyone’s stay even better!

Staff where always doing whatever is needed to ensure a great stay. Food was very good, service in all areas was spectacular. We had very cold weather, but the staff adapted to ensure everyone had fun.

We really enjoyed the outdoor, winter activities especially the skating path. The rooms are also large and comfortable; highly recommended!

Fern hosted our wedding weekend, and I can't speak highly enough of this place! The entire weekend was amazing from start to finish. They took care of everything & were so accommodating and pleasant. Every detail was thought of, and we didn't have to do a thing, but relax & enjoy our incredible weekend. The views were stunning & the food was phenomenal, including taking care for our son who has celiac & needs a very strict gluten-free diet. Wonderful weekend, not a single complaint. Thank you so much for everything, Fern! We will be back!

Lovely resort and getaway for all ages. We are a family of three with our 14 year old. Hats off the Roland our server, boat staff, housekeeping, and the live entertainers! Lots of fun wakeboarding, awesome shows, awesome service, all meals included… you couldn’t ask for anything more! Sad to check out tomorrow though.

So much for the kids to do, beautiful resort, great accommodations, and super friendly staff! I would definitely reccommend for family vacation!

Super meals, great service, friendly staff. Even though it is a family resort, everything was centered around the children … all day and all night. We were there at Christmastime and were disappointed that everything was geared to the kids. Not everyone has kids.

Fern has great outdoor spaces for fun and recreation. Its a great place to visit!

This is our 4th year staying here and we like the atmosphere and the very clean rooms plus the well kept area. The restaurant food is good with plenty of choices. Plenty of entertainment for children.

Such an amazing family weekend away! So much to do, amazing staff and the food was absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back again!

Great resort for families! Not the most updated place but what the esthetics lack, the staff, activities, and food make up for! Very clean with things to do for all ages and many family oriented activities as well. We loved our stay!

Not a bad place. Wonderful warm lake! Lots of water entertainment, including fishing — the kids were not dragged away, the fish is small, but pecks every minute!
For adults there are catamarans, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and, the pearl of the water park — a small sailing boat type "Hobby".
The staff is suave.
Cleaning the rooms is high-quality.
Of the cons — in my opinion the price is somewhat overpriced.

This was our first time at Fern. We had an absolutely wonderful time — the activities were amazing: fishing, tennis, pool-volleyball, golf, rock climbing, an aerial climb, water skiing, two pools, beach, kayaking, biking and more! The staff are terrific, especially those who are in charge of the kids programs. Oh and we loved the daily bingo too. Now, let’s talk about the food. Delicious that’s for sure. You’ll have to try the home made rolls and the scrumptious peanut butter chocolate pie…

Great Family Resort. Lots of things to do there. Variety of accomadation, and proximity to other venues, plus returning guests, prove its good value.

My family has been going to Fern since I was 4 years old. Over the past 30 years it’s always been a place to have fun, catch sun and spend time together. I feel so fortunate that we can go somewhere like this and appreciate the effort that goes into making Fern a special place for guests. Thank you Downing family for continuing to make Fern a safe, fun space for everyone.

What an incredible few days we spent at Fern Resort in Orillia! We love making the trip as part of our summer plans, and the weather was perfect to take in all the activities. As always, the staff was exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and ready to help at a moments notice. Special thanks to our waitress Marley who was extremely patient with some indecisive kids! My favorite part of our stay, in addition to the spacious room with spectacular view, was being able to spend some real quality time with my family. We all live such busy lives so it was a wonderful change to slow down, relax and really enjoy eachothers company. Fishing, swimming, pedal cars, and having a brief snooze on the hammocks by the water are annual "must-dos" for us. And the food! Where should I start? The fresh baked buns are always gone in just a few minutes. We are meat-eaters and the dishes we chose were cooked to perfection, with very little room left for dessert. (but trust me, we managed) We were thrilled when we found out Jamie Williams, the one man band, would be our entertainment on the Tuesday evening. He's so energetic and warm. Is there any song he DOESN'T know? Thank you to Scott and staff for another fantastic stay!

The facilities are a bit dated. The food and services are not the greatest. This "resort" employs a lot of teenagers who have little to no work experience. It says so right in the menu when you order. Something to keep in mind when it takes 45 mins for your food to come out. The pools and the location of the place is great and there is no shortage of things to do as far as activities go.

Awesome Resort, with great food and great staff. I have been there on family day weekend for the past 3 years! The moment we walked in we were greeted and promptly checked into our room. The room was very nice, but just served as a sleeping place for us. We did many activities including the snowmobile riding (100% WORTH the extra cost), skating trail, and ice fishing. It was such a great experience for the last few years that I've been in the winter, I wish to go to the summer. Nonetheless, this place is lives up to expectations as a family friendly getaway.

A great place for a group or conference You must meet Raymond he is a server in the dining room and what ever else he can help you with His Customer service skills are on point he sets a standard on how to serve customers and bring them back And the stories!

Just bad. Food was average at best. They even try passing off cool whip as fresh cream. And who knows what for lamb.

Some of the rooms are a little dated, but it really just adds to the charm. They are very clean, the food is great, all the staff were very helpful and friendly. It's a great resort with lots to do and beautiful scenery.

Great resort. Wonderful, friendly staff and comfortable, clean amenities. The rooms are quite sizable, and those with a view of the lake are a wonderful spot in which to wake up. The activities available are numerous, and SUPing or canoeing around the islands in the lake is a peaceful and fun experience.

Fabulous resort, just attended a conference there and staff are amazing, food is delicious. We stayed in a cottage and the room was great. I would highly recommend Fern Resort… can’t wait to go back.

We went during March break. Not all the facilities are available during the March break but I was impressed with how much they had available. The kids always had things to do and were entertained by the staff or performances. They had the option of just going off and doing their own things with the other children. The food is ok, and will get you through the days. At the time we went our two servers were slow and often forgot any details pertaining to our orders (extra dread, water, etc. ).

Our Family had a lot of fun at the resort this past Family Day weekend. Activities all day long for all. Lots of outdoor activities like skating the 1.5km path through the forest and skating on the lake. Dog sledding was a challenging experience. Worth trying once. Games room was fun and the nightly entertainment at the theatre was excellent… comedic juggler and illusionist. All inclusive food and accomodations. Excellent choice of food for both adults and kids. Family friendly resort. All sorts of room sizes and lake front cottages available. Some rooms have been updated some have not. We would consider going back for sure.

First let me say we stayed in winter — February, so maybe summer stay would be different as it might be busier and more going on. Food was fantastic and great table service (some waiters smelled like they had a cigarette butt in their pocket though). The online website room availability is off apparently so call in to see what's available or you might be funnelled into one of the biggest most expensive rooms when using the online booking. When we got there it was obvious the cottages we looked at online that were unavailable, were. The spa was a disappointment. There is one but the person who runs it is missing in action … We left messages and we're promised call backs and got one after inquiring a second time why we didn't get a call back. She called us and left a message she would call us back within the hour and never got any call back. Not even to let us know she couldn't accommodate us. This made it hard to plan our day as we were looking for 2 hours of services and we're left wondering. Room was nice, large and clean. We stayed in which is a 2 story 2 bedroom full cottage on the water (ice). The website stated a queen master bedroom however it's only a double. We went cross country skiing, snowshoeing, swimming and skating — all great fun. If we go back we will confirm a few things prior to booking. We were looking forward to ice fishing. We expected a heated fishing hut.

Perfect for family day weekend. Lots of outdoor and indoor activities. Staff is so accommodating. Lots of food options in restaurant (vegan, veg, gluten free, etc). A bit dated but it works. Reminiscent of Kellermans from Dirty Dancing!

Quantity over quality. There's lots to do here in the winter but many of the activities they put on are half-baked. The staff seem generally ill informed whether it be what today's specials are or when activities are on. The food is average to good, with many dishes being pretty plain in taste though well presented, you do get an awful lot of food though. Had busted lights in one cabin and a broken thermostat in one room which made it sauna like at all times. No outdoor hot tubs were operating as advertised or as an ill informed staff member said they would be. They do have a beautiful skating table through the woods, and a great games room though. However when this place is 50% pricier than a lot of the competition you feel like your paying for a whole lot of vanilla instead of a bit excellent chocolate.

It was good, a nice place for a company function, the kitchen just had a hard time keeping up. The food was above average given the volume they were contending with.

Great time at the Christmas party. Food was amazing. The dj needs to move his play lists into this century though.

Stayed at fern for a wedding this fall. Amazing venue with great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good food, nice rooms, and the coffee is fantastic. Will definitely come back.

It was good. The staff was nice. My only issue is that my door froze but the staff was very nice and accommodating and fixed my issue right away. I think this place would be better to visit in the summer time. It has a beautiful Lakeside view and is also a great spot to hold conferences.

Fern resort is a great family resort. Lots of fun activities for people of all ages. We've been in the summer and come every year and Thanksgiving, and plan to continue going for the foreseeable future.

My family had the joy of staying at Fern this weekend, and we had a blast! We wish we could have stayed longer. We have 2 children under 2, and the facilities are incredible for kids of all ages. Don't miss this gem!

My wife and kids and I love Fern Resort. It is like having a cottage but everything is taken care of for you. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kid's programs are great and give the parents/grandparents some 'me time' as well. The food is excellent. You can choose to do as little or as much as you want. The evening entertainment is top notch as well. We have visited summer and winter and year round it is a great place for the family.

Best spot for a family vacation, hands down. If you have kids, this is the place to go to get that authentic lake vacation. Boating, swimming, fishing, beaches, pools, sports, crafts, activities, you name it, Fern does it. There is so much to do you almost need 3 or 4 days to do it all. Staff are so friendly and accomodating. I have 4 kids — aged 2, 3, 6 and 8 and we never ran out of things do to during our 3 days at Fern. It is so clean, so comfortable, so organised and made for families with kids of all ages. They make it very easy and fun to vacation with your family. It is the perfect place to take your kids. My children were exhausted, happy and full at the end of every day. We loved it so much we already booked for Halloween and we got home this afternoon. Highly recommend. Will come back again and again. Couldn't of been happier with our little vacation!

Friendly staff and tasty food. Enough activities to keep you busy throughout the day. Rooms are well maintained and if there are issues they will be resolved same day. A great place for a family vacation.

This place is a must,
Place is heaven on earth, it's just mesmerizing.
Staff are polite, Curtis, food is amazing, huts all have cooling, your own personal veranda front and back.
You feel like you are in the middle of a jungle.
Like fantasy island.
This is a must when in Thailand.

This incredible family resort had plenty of activites for the whole family including a walking trail, game room, indoor and outdoor pool, basketball and hockey, trampolines and SO much more. It's sit down three course meals which are included are some of the most delicious meals I've eaten on vacation. The staff is super friendly and won't hesitate to go above and beyond for their guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the lake it sits on. It's open year round so there's always something to do in every season.

My two girls love the day camps they provided. They were so excited during lunch telling me about the honeycomb ride, fishing, and sand castles they were doing in the beach this is just the first day of our vacation. Night time the enjoyed the magic show my family is having a blast. May consider making this an annual trip.

The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable. Amenities for days! On property 5 hole golf course, batting cage, trails for hiking, pools, sauna, on site spa, vintage style games room complete with old cabinet video games, you name it. Wonderful staff who are super friendly and great service. Thus would be a fantastic place for a family vacation. The only thing I don't know is if it's pet friendly, but I'd have to guess that they are. Great experience.

This was our fourth Christmas at Fern. We love it. Special shout-out to Mike for everything he does. Food is great, activities, entertainment, etc. Will definitely return.

The rooms are large and clean. The resort has a decent range of activities for many ages. Food is tasty but service is sometimes slow.

I loved it. It has so much fun activitys.

Oh, what a gem to relax with your family. They have kids clubs, different activities for adults and kids, great swimming pools and nightly entertainment. Also great food and excellent service. Don't forget to tip directly. As I found out they almost don't get anything from 10% service surcharge that's added to your bill at the end.

Went in the 80's and again this year. The place is just awesome. People complaining about the food should maybe stay in the city. The Prime Rib, Pulled Pork Burger and Big Breakfasts were grade A.

Classic fern is always a good time for the family to go and spend a week being active and together.

We recently attended our Rotary Club's President's Night at Fern Resort — we had drinks by the pool and then on to the Gazebo for dinner — every detail we requested — podium, microphone, high chair was all there ready for us — we had to ask for additional tables and changes to the set up and all requests were dealt with quickly and efficiently — the food was excellent and the service outstanding — we have held many of our Rotary dues at Fern Resort in the past and have always experienced excellent service — I would have no hesitation in recommending Fern Resort — beautiful location, outstanding facilities and awesome staff.
