Review of Horseshoe Resort 3*

I like it a lot because it is a short drive for us and so close to Barrie… we use it mainly for biking and it always feels like a little vacation (good vibes, chill, music, hills, I like the crazy horse vibe even though the service sometimes is so slow…) … at the resort you find easy parking and never too crowded … last year they did the lake and it was a lot of construction which was a bit of a pain for riding in the lower sections… but hopefully this is all done now… here a few things: For biking we really preferred the old lift (close to the lake) as it brought you to the best trails right away without pedaling up that awful hill … the new lift is nice however they had trouble with the bike mounts/racks last year but Management mentioned that they use new bike racks/mounts for the lift this season (so will see) … as mentioned the location of the new lift is not so good for the biking part (however better than no lift lol) … and trail 1 right at the lift has a nice flow. I hope they will make more trails closer to the new lift… in general I like most of the trails and some of them are actually quite challenging (beginners be aware) I gave the rock-garden a few hugs last year … last year a tree fall on one of the trails and after I told them the tree was cut and removed of the trail very quickly… in regards to safety our son had a quite crash two years ago on the last day of bike park operation (literally the last run of the season — lift was already stopped) but we found help fast; the staff was great, help came quickly; they got him on a pick-up truck to the resort medical building, he got checked out and they called the ambulance; he ended up in the hospital but all good now … on another note I am very happy about the bike shop at the resort… it is really great … if you have some problems, need quick repair or a tool it is no problem very fast service, very friendly and great prices too — so thumbs-up — great job! Overall in my opinion Horseshoe Resort is a good place to go… close to Barrie, it has a lift for the ride up, decent trails, good vibes, never too crowded… I would say 3.5* and I know they can improve quite a bit which it looks like is in the works… they seem to working on a lot of improvements … so let's see how this season goes…
