Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioner works well. The horses are in excellent condition. The best sushi I’ve had in ages. We wished we could have stayed a couple more days.

The room was not well kept and was not ready. No explinations on anything from the front desk staff. An insane amoubt of mosquitos.

I stayed here over the July 1 long weekend. It was overall a nice stay. I would stay here again. If you are expecting a 5 star fancy resort, you will be disappointed. We stayed in cabin and it was recently renovated. Nothing fancy, but clean and cute! The view from the deck was beautiful and you can watch the horses graze all around you. Everything was pretty easy, check inc etc. It is a very laid back resort. I had a relaxation massage and it was nice. The spa is clean and well priced. The pool area is clean and roomy. The front lobby is beautiful with all the wood furniture and horse paintings. The saloon is still under renovation so you can't go out onto the deck but the inside is nice. The staff was great and the food was good. A bit spicy for me, but yummy otherwise. The Japanese restaurant is good. Food was decent. Nothing fancy but tasty. The restaurant could definitely use some better atmosphere. Maybe some music? Breakfast was excellent. It had eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and potatoes. Plus cereal, coffee, toast. The horses are in great condition. Well looked after. We did the 2 hour trail ride with Logan. He was great guide! Very friendly and professional. The trails around there are beautiful. Saw a bear and grouse. Lovely being out in the bush like that. Horses are well behaved and don't spook easy which is great for those who have never ridden before. I do think the resort could benefit from a few things.

We took the chance for a last minute getaway from the kids to go and see something new and treat ourselves to some pampering. Spruce Hills is rustic and accomdations are dated, so expect this. It is a country style spa receiving renovations as it grows. It is obvious that they need local and motel room rental support to keep buisness alive with such a large facility operating. So dont be surprised if a local family has rented the pool room for a few hours to celebrate a childs bday. Food at restaurant was fine. Sushi may have taken awhile to get to the table but it was great and affordable. Spa treatments so far have been good and definately well priced for what we have got. Simply put… its an affordable, rustic cowboy spa that deserves to be rated as such. Hopefully as it grows it becomes a high end rustic cowboy spa. For the cost we would entertain coming back but be sure to prebook your treatments.

Old hotel far away from the civilization. Is good if you like smell horses.

Surprising to find such a lovely resort in the middle of nowhere! For the price we paid we were expecting a sleazy motel, but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful off-the-grid places we've ever been!

Decent priced all you can eat sushi. Great food and great portions.

It wasn't as relaxing as I remembered ever since the new ownership, but the trails and views were lovely.

The food was amazing! The staff was amazing! The view was amazing! Was a great place to kick back for the night! The children loved the big pool! Only down fall was the room was a mess, sand all over the carpet, cobwebs everywhere, the tub was filled with water and we killed 17 spiders in one night ekkk!

The all you can eat sushi is awesome. It's definitely not the best sushi around but for $10 you definitely can't go wrong! I went eight times in a month. The pool was okay, but there was way to much chemical in the hot tub and they never did a proper test, just dumped some in. The change rooms are disgusting and they weren't cleaned in the month I was there. Most of the staff was friendly, some were very rude though.

My sister & I attended Spruce Hill on Tuesday & Thursday this week… we grew up in the area and had been to the 108 hills when the Corbett's ran it… we were very disappointed… upon arrival on Tuesday the young lady at the front desk was too busy on her cell to give us time… than on Thursday as we were leaving … we noticed the owner behind the desk & 3 young ladys in the lobby… no one even said thank you have a nice evening, no one even looked up from their cell phones… where's the good customer service…?

It's gone downhill since I was married there 10 years ago but it's still pleasant.

Check-in was brusque and the clerk was not happy with me because I needed clarification on the building Room had a 'tired' feel to it but was clean. Restaurant was out of all entrees except 2 items and waitresses were gossiping about coworkers loudly which made dinner weird. I hadn't been to the resort in 10 years & I'll probably wait another 10 before I risk it again. :/

Good service and clean room. The pool is nice. Unfortunatly non og the activitys were open so I cant comment on that.

Rooms need a lot of updating. But resort is great and new pool is good.

Been going there since it was new. Starting to show its age but repairs are being done. Under new ownership and not sure if it will be the same if they get rid of the horses. Still a great trail system in a beautiful area.

The rooms are dirty and the location is compleately unperfect. To stay in a tent is mutch more better!

Just enjoyed a great Father's Day BBQ buffet, steaks were done to perfection, friendly and attentive service. Appealing refresh to the facilities, particularly restaurant patio. We'll be back!

Went there to purchase my mother a spa day. Bought her 200$ worth of spa treatments in AUGUST 2016. They took our money no problem, then when we gave the gift to my mother she called to arrange a time, and she ended up playing phone tag. She Still hasn't gotten her birthday present from August, and now they won't return her calls. Very dissatisfied about the whole thing. A birthday present gone horribly wrong and to top it all off we are out 200$!

Good food. Pleasant staff. Cabins do need updating though.

Great girls getaway here… so much fun we are doing it again. Very low key atmosphere. Our host and all of the staff were very helpful and just all around nice people. Definitely partake in a massage if you have the time.

So, where are here 4 star hidden, everything will be rebuilt, but nothing is really done. Pool water, no restaurant, no fridge in the room, all in the years come, so there's still real RöhrenTV, Wi-Fi worked and beautiful environment. For the price but no recommendation.

Popped in to see the renovations — looks promising! Staff were friendly. Location is breathtaking. Can't wait for the restaurants to open the menus look amazing. This will be the resort the Cariboo deserves!

Over the last 25 years we have stayed at the Hills 3x's. We enjoy the activities they offer and the service rec'd, seemed like good value for the $. This last visit does show its getting a bit tired and needs refreshing, sounds like the new owner has big plans to upgrade and make it an amazing place to be, look forward to another 20 years at least. Overall, we were looking to unplug, relax, etc. And were not dissappointed.

First place I took my little girls camping with our horses on my way to visit family. It was a huge goal for me. It was a place for camping with horses at a very reasonable price that will keep us coming back and enjoying. Nothing like a swim and hot tub after riding. Thank you for the great service. It is an older place but very clean.

Having stayed at The Hills cabins for two years in a row now for a winter vacation I can confirm that the decor is somewhat outdated, and yes both cabins we've stayed in have been well-worn, but by and large it is quiet, clean, and almost everything works just fine (we had a couple power outlets that didn't cooperate). Given we've never paid more than $120 a night for a gigantic homey cabin, and given the amenities available on the property, we certainly plan to continue coming here.

I have a soft spot for the Hills Resort. I got married here. I should actually being giving it only 1 star. We keep coming back because it is a special place to us. But I feel like it's just going down the tube — and FAST! It's such a shame — such a beautiful place with SO much potential. It is just crumbling in every way — I'd like to know who they've entrusted as their maintenance person. Boy oh boy — whomever that is needs tone fired. Everything is scraped, gouged, ill fitting from shoddy work, and no care taken in any area. It's dirty, outdated and unkept. The staff must rotate regularly because they have no clue how anything works. I think that even though it holds a special place in our hearts — we will stop coming. There is no care or pride in the service or premises any more. It really is too bad — because word of mouth spreads like wildfire these days and they are shooting themselves in the foot. If they made some crucial changes in staff, service, and upkeep of the facilities and guest rooms — it would probably turn things around pretty fast. If I had never been here in better times — I would never even consider staying here for the price. I wouldn't want to pay more than about $60. And even that's a reach.

Was at the ranch and honestly shocked! this place is so old and outdated (70's) one can not imagine! we had cabin no. 18, with a ripped sofa covers, damaged wallpapers, spiderwebs and filthy carpets all over the place. But the hit was the locker room and the swimming pool area, just dark and dirty, really horrible! I did talk (complain) at the front desk but they did not offer any solution, just apologized and mentioned that the owner is old, not willing to investing anymore and looking for an investor. Oh my g. Do not go there, they charge quite some hard $ for a stay! we left immediately after one prepaid night, never again.

I recently spent 3-weeks there and enrolled in the Fitness/Weight Loss package. What a great deal too! I'm a 60 year old with arthritis and bursitis and my fitness level BEFORE The Hills was dismal. AFTER my stay, I not only lost weight, but also lost a total of 8 "of film! I also built muscle and re-gained some of the strength of my younger days. The food was incredibly delicious and varied (great chef named Cliff who should be famous! ) The Fitness Instructors were just top notch and I never felt bad or disillusioned if I was not able to keep up with some of the other, more fit students; because the teachers as well as the students were supportive and so kind! Speaking of friendly, the staff at the Ranch were so gregarious, they made me feel like family while I was there. Daily Aquafit and "Wellness Workshops" helped me with my bursitis, which I consider a miracle. This is not only a Health Ranch, but a working Horse (and mini donkey) Ranch. The accommodations were comfy and felt like home. A +.

I had pre-booked the Cowboy Breakfast horseback riding trip followed by a massage at the spa. I was told that I would have enough time to make it to my massage after returning from the horseback riding trip. The horseback ride didn't allow me to make it to my appointment on time and I was about 10 minutes late. I waited for about 20 minutes in and around the spa lounge for someone to talk to me about my appointment. After looking around for someone, I then went down to the front desk to ask about the appointment. The masseuse was incredibly rude to me. She told me that I was really late and implied that I was lying when I said that I had been waiting for 20 minutes because she had 'been up and down the stairs and didn't see you'. I was flabbergasted by the total lack of professionalism and customer service. I was so upset by how I was treated that when they offered me another appointment time with a different masseuse I wasn't interested in re-booking. At check-out, the massage that never happened appeared on our bill. When we pointed that out to the woman at the desk she said, 'It was my understanding that another appointment was offered to you at your convenience. ' She already knew in advance that there had been a problem and she didn't apologize on behalf of the Ranch for the mix-up. We told her that I wasn't interested in re-booking and told her about the rudeness of the masseuse. Still no apology was given. Not by the masseuse and not by the front desk woman.

I have been several times and I'm never disappointed. The 3 bedroom chalets are cheaper then what I pay for a "regular" hotel room anywhere in Alberta. Staff are always accommodating. Have hiked, horse backed, and enjoyed the spa services. Good location to take advantage of local fishing and other water activities.
