If you want to be treated poorly and get food poisoning from the Keg then this is the hotel for you. In April a wedding party got food poisoning from the food they ate. From 1:00am to 7:30am the party could not sleep, leave there rooms, or get the help they needed. Hotel staff were asked to bring towels, toilet paper, and kleenex to the rooms but all that was brought was two extra towels, thats it. I asked for the manager during early checkout, that was approved the night before mind you, and was told the manager was "busy". The stay was two nights total. They charged a FULL THREE NIGHTS! I asked for an email to get reimbursement with the managers name. Still no. Lukas at the front desk was useless to help. If repeating the same sentences over and over is actually "help".

Wow! A beautiful, clean and very romantic place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Sylvia was amazing with our pedicures and manicures. A wonderful massage for another lady. The place is just lovely!

A lovely spot outside of Banff downtown. You can walk it in 15 to 20 minutes or take the once an hour town Roam bus for which they give you free passes. It was handy to have The Keg in the hotel, but you better make a reservation!

Pretty sad that not a single room in the whole hotel comes with AC. Only option is to have the window open to the noisy street. Parking is horrible unless you have a small car or tiny suv. I would not recommend this hotel unless it’s the winter time.

Great location and decor / design in room. Except occasion noise from those running down the hallway. It’s one of the best value in Banff and look forward to be back again soon~

Not a 3 star hotel by a long shot. Sheets stained, walls stained, tables stained, carpets stained just overall a dated and dirty room. Hot tub was nice and big but jets didn't work and steam room was out of order. Don't spend the little bit extra for a superior room as the coffee machine probably doesn't work or is to dirty tom m use. I don't usually leave reviews but I feel like I got ripped off a bit here at the Caribou Lodge.

On the strip, a nice walk to downtown stores. Lovely rooms, comfortable beds and a beautiful lobby that looks amazing when the fireplace is lit.

Friendly staff. Clean room. We got very reasonable price. Hopefully next time again.

Great place to stay. We are celebrating our 45th anniversary and picked this place because we always like staying here… and the Keg restaurant is right there.

The room (419) was superb becacause it was a suite, all said and done sorry to say thats all it had going for it, the meal was limited because it was a pre paid voucher from rocky mountaineer but unfortunately things on there were not available. The food we did order wasn't of a particularly good standard. When we mentioned it to the manager she did waver the drinks bill, although this was not the reason we complained and she did apologise. All in all not a good experience and we may just had caught them on a bad night.

Well located on the edge of town, so can walk downtown if you want or hotel provided free bus ticket with stops at the door. Rooms are not overly large but were comfortable and quite adequate for our purposes.

Amazing pillows, welcoming front lobby. Room 108 needs a fresh air fan, the chlorine smell is really strong. Would stay again, but would request a less high traffic hallway.

The ladies and gentlemen at the front desk were super nice and helpful. They did everything and then some for us on our first trip to Banff. Hope to see them again. They were the best!

This hotel is a mixed bag. Pluses: Not very distant from town center, but suggest taking the shuttle bus, which is free with room key, guest laundry. Coffee in lobby. Steam room. Complimentary parking. Discount coupon book. Bike rentals available at a reasonable fee. Staff are friendly and helpful. Minuses: Our room was very cramped. Bathroom had a portion of the ceiling angled down at 45°, making me watch my head. Sink vanity was a trapezoid 14" deep by 36" wide, leaving little room on either side, and half sized sink with spigot side mounted instead of the usual rear mount. No a/c, though we visited during a cool spell where it wasn't needed. In room coffee service only had decaf. Towels and washcloths not replaced daily. However, desk had them sent up at our request. As a place to shower, sleep and get on about your vacation, this hotel was adequate, but not a luxurious place for any extended stay. While our rate was encapsulated in the Rocky Mountaineer package, the posted tariff rate would not be a good value.

I am extremely disappointed with our stay here. When we first got here it was before 4pm which is check in so we asked the receptionist (I believe her name was Natasha) if she could check if our room was done early. When we asked her to do this she became really rude and snobby towards us. Our room wasn’t done yet which was fine by us we just went and walked around Banff until 4pm. When we finally got checked in, our room was nothing at all liked we expected or what the website advertised. It was not worth how much money we paid for it. Our room ended up being over what I believe is the hotels garbage room so starting first thing in the morning we had to listen to very loud garbage trucks coming and going right under our room. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the window in the room was closed but because the rooms don’t have air conditioning it was extremely warm in the rooms and all we could do is open a window. The only reason this hotel is getting 2 stars is because they have a nice pool area.

I drove from Calgary airport to here in the new hire car from Avis and the drive was not very difficult. On arrival we handed in a voucher for our hotel, but for some people it would be different on how they pay. We went to our room — it had two, comfortable double beds and a big bathroom. The spa looked very nice but I didn't end up visiting it. The pool looks big in the photos shown above but isn't that big in person. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all very welcoming. A good hotel is what I'll say about it x.

We stay for 1 night and I was impress with the place. Not fancy but very homey. The room was spacious but the only thing is not having an ac in the room as it needed some air circulation but st least there was a fan.

Great service, atmosphere and decor. Rooms VERY hot in the summer, and have no AC. With the windows open, the rooms do cool some at night, but not enough if you cannot handle the heat. However, the hallways and lobby are air conditioned. Pool and hot tub were not as depicted in photos, but it still was good and was able to relax. Morning coffee was good, and the hostess at the Keg always filled up my water bottle for me. All the staff were nice at the Caribou Lodge.

Nice setting out of the main shop area so quiet. Roam bus stops outside and you get a free ticket with the room. Nice hot pool and gym. Decor in our part was dated and the room was dark. Only one sachet of standard coffee per day, but 6 tea bags! Needed more coffee! And no milk but sachets of "whitener" powder. Poor show. Most staff lovely but we did have 2 that appeared surly and did not really have their heart in it. We had one evening meal here only — far too much salt on the fries we could not eat them. One breakfast one of our group were forgotten about and waitress had to be reminded. Same time we were all asked how we liked our eggs (all asked soft poached) but all arrived hard. Disappointed especially as it is not a cheap hotel.

Nice hotel in a nice location to be able to walk to downtown Banff. The bonus was free unlimited rides on Roam Transit buses. I had a very relaxing stay at this hotel. I was able to use the hot-tub, sauna and fitness room and enjoyed the facilities. The front-desk staff were very helpful. After checking out of my room, I wanted to keep my vehicle parked at the hotel for the Canada Day parade and they gladly let me do that. They are doing some roof replacement work at this time but it never bothered me during my stay.

When they heard it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with a room upgrade and some champagne! The receptionist really knew her stuff about the area as well, recommending some great sights. Parking garage was useful, lots of helpful stuff in the building like Enterprise and a restaurant. Room was lovely, and great staff.

It was a really nice experience. We all had a good time. We rented bikes and the staff were so hospitable. I got a manicure from the spa. She did a really good job. We carried a really nice convo. Didn't try the pool but it looked lovely. Close to town to walk back and forth (walk off dinner ahah). The keg was amazing. The restaurant manager Trudy did an amazing job with me! She really a wonderful lady! Very excellent managerial skills!

Very small room, no A/C, they make it seem like the pool is an amenity but it is part of the spa which cost thirty bucks a person. No ventilation whatsoever, you cant open a window and the bathroom is not ventilated. The only thing that they provided was a small dirty fan covered in dust. It makes absolutely no sense that the hallways are air conditioned though. A 2 double bed room is definitely not big enough for 4 people. We stay at the mountains often but wont be staying here again.

Nice quite accommodation, spa, sauna, massage (at your cost). Food is good. Bus stop nearby or 10 min walk to downtown area. Only downside for was that I was ignored at the front desk with others being attended to out of turn.

Good location and wonderful interior. Plenty of space in the rooms. Nice pool area with jets in every part. Local bus pass included, so getting downtown is a breeze. The laundry room has a leave one/take one library (and a pc for internet access). Friendly staff at counter and at the attracted Keg restaurant.

I took my boys there for some skiing on Spring Break from Greenville SC and all I can say is wow! What a trip. Everyone was so nice and friendly and the staff was so accommodating. I have always skied in Utah and thought it was great there but will not return after such a great trip to Banff. Banff Caribou Lodge's staff was so friendly and gave such a great impression of your Country. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

Great place to rest and enjoy.

Good location with walk to town, easy drop off and pick up location for tours and transfers. Loft room with spa and fireplace, comfortable. Layout of room superb with upstairs and downstairs washrooms, upstairs and downstairs TV, upstairs bedroom and downstairs lounge/dining. Lack of cutlery and crockery disappointing, as is the limited supply of teabags, sugar and no milk. Room service and food fab, restruant excellent. Great little guest laundry, ATM, food dispensers and computer access. The service was a little disappointing and lack of signage problematic. Ski lockers available, which is handy. Bed a little uncomfortable and lacking a choice of pillows, no blankets and doona thin so grateful for the fire and heating. Room clean but holes in carpet, minor dents in walls, and minor repairs required through out, are a little disconcerting. A pretty good place to stay.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, well located for transportation to the ski resorts as this is the first place where the bus stops.

Great facilities! The rooms are a good size and there is a restaurant and spa in the hotel. The spa includes a heated pool for all guests that's good for a soak after a long day of skiing. Plus it's one of the first stops on the shuttle. Highly recommend.

Loved the wood burning fireplace that carried the smell through the halls! All the finishing details tied together to really make it feel like a lodge. Beds were very comfy, the hot pool and sauna were definitely our favourite part but our 3 night stay was just what we needed.

We came here to liaise with Enterprise rental. We stayed at the Elk & Avenue which was good. The lobby here is quite cool and reflects the tourist idea of the locality. I would be keen to try out this hotel next time we happen to swing by Banff.

Great place to stay. This is a beautiful hotel. We spent here a couple days last winter. We had a nice, romantic room with beautiful mountain view. Our room was clean and beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is a must see and try. It looks very cool and it's a hot jet tub so it's relaxing. The price for this hotel is affordable and worth it. And the location is good. If you want you can just leave leave your car and walk in to the downtown because it's only few minutes. I highly recommend to stay in this hotel.

Just an average lodge. Cons: Room design on 3rd floor is awkward. The heating system is not efficient in winter. No microwave in the room. Pros: the hot pool is very nice. The location is accessible to town. Room rates outside the high demand season are affordable and good.

The hotel lobby was decorated for Christmas and a wood fire burning in welcome. Our suite had a Christmas tree and the gas fireplace was also decorated. The bed was comfortable and both bathrooms were well supplied. We had a nice stay and also enjoyed dinner at the Keg on site.

Good clean place to stay. Reasonably good room service, good foyer, plenty of parking. However they need a friendlier person at their front desk after hours, when I got there at 2am to check in he was grumpy and looked like he didn't want to be there. Day time staff is good. Hotel is slightly expensive too. However would stay again if needed.

Hotel was nice. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The bus available to sunshine and lake Louise fills up but the caribou Lodge is the 2nd stop so you are unlikely to not get a seat. Room was cozy and had nice water pressure in the shower. Great after a long day snowboarding.

Really nice hotel. The rooms are clean and the atmosphere here is really quite nice. The Keg is attached so you can have a really nice supper if you want. The hot pool is huge and is nice to go to after a long day (especially after doing something active). I have stayed here for a number of trips I have had to Banff and would again. Only problem is no breakfast although there is coffee downstairs in the lobby.

It was great! Still clean, comfortable and it is the place I like to stay when I go to Banff. I love the pool/hot tub and the staff is very attentive and on top of anything they can do to make your stay as comfortable as possible. … Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa is my favorite place to call home, when I'm away from home — it was so nice to sit and enjoy my morning coffee by a real fire after having a good night's sleep.

Good location! It's very convenient to walk from the residence to the shopping street in 10 minutes. The breakfast was great, the scenery was great and the Mountain view was everywhere.

A very comfortable hotel with excellent amenities and friendly staff. A Keg restaurant attached made dining easy. The town itself is a delight. A place to return to.

Beautiful hotel, service was good. Lovely big rooms. We didn't eat in the hotel as we felt it was quite expensive, no more than other hotels we checked out but more than we wanted to pay. Lovely little spa, you can't swim in the pool, it's basically a big jacuzzi but still very nice. It is a little way out of town but there is a free shuttle bus that goes all around Banff so no massive issue.

The staff get this hotel a higher rating. All in a good mood and helpful. Hotel itself is skin deep beauty. Looks great in pictures but not built well. Would have been upset to pay full price rather than the cheap tickets price at a further 25 percent off. While showering the faucet started to fall apart leaving me covered with shampoo and soap. Shoving the parts back in and wrapping with a face cloth was what got me out of a predicament. Luckily I was the last one in the shower! When given the faucet parts the front desk staff surprisingly offered little apology and no compensation. I suppose this is normal for them? Toilet is so close to cabinetry you need to sit sideways to use it. This was true for my small wife too! No pool but a giant hot tub which has pre shower faucets that are loose in the rotting wall. I suppose that's consistency! I've spent years working on the road and this is not one of the better hotels I've stayed in. It's nice enough but certainly not value for the cost.

Very good hotel with comfortable rooms.

Lovely atmospheric hotel. Great steak restaurant. Hotel itself is a bit grubby, needs a good clean. Towels are off-white and bedding a bit tired and marked. I found a lot of long black hairs on the floor and bed. Cannot fault the staff though. Friendly and attentive.

On the second night of our stay (August 28th 2017), there was a fire alarm at around 9:30pm All guests evacuated through the clearly marked fire escapes around the building and gathered outside at the side and at the back of the building. The elderly, children and babies stood outside in the cold night air, some bare feet, some shirt less and one guest dripping wet from the shower or pool. After the alarm stopped, the guests continued waiting for an announcement saying it was safe to re-enter. Some time had passed and after hearing nothing, myself and some other guests walked around to the front. The restaurant patrons were still having their dinners, kitchen staff were having a smoke break and it seemed business as usual in the lobby area! Asking the front desk attendant if it was safe to return to our rooms she said yes and they were looking into the alarm incident. I informed her that there were still guests outside in the cold "We would make an announcement when we get time" was her response! The stay at this facility was acceptable, however based on their poor handling of this situation, it is quite questionable as to how they would deal with an actual fire.

Stayed on a Rocky Mountaineer tour and were very happy with the room, dinner at the restaurant and breakfast. Walked into town and it was an easy 10/15 minute walk. There was the option of the bus but the walk was great esp after dinner. Hot pool was very relaxing as well esp after a day sightseeing. We would stay here again.

Good location and nice hotel. Room was spacious and had a vintage feel in the good way. Loved the caribou artwork inside the room. The restaurant keg was great and we had some good steaks. They assisted with my questions regarding the Rocky Mountaineer and the staff was polite and friendly. There's a gas station super close to the hotel which is a plus.

For the price we paid it was not worth it. Granted, it is Banff so everything is more expensive, but I've never been to a hotel that didn't have air conditioning (may not have booked it had I noticed that before booking). If you're familiar with Alberta summers, it's can be a bit uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi is so slow it's essentially unusable. The room itself is a bit dated. For a hotel that had won housekeeping awards, it was a bit… used. The beds are old. The staff were nice enough, but didn't really do anything to impress.

Staff were polite and helpful. Rooms were adequate. Only issue I have is that on top of your room charges you need to pay for parking which to me was an extra 50$ per day. Parking was pretty much vacant on the long week-end in May. I will not return to this hotel for this reason.

We stayed at caribou lodge over Christmas and new year. The rooms were clean the beds amazing! Staff super friendly and food in the keg great. We especially liked Mark the waiter in the bar area. His service was always super quick and he was so nice and his dog is very cute!

Very nice looking hotel. It's all themed around a log cabin and caribou. You are greater by a roaring fire as you enter reception. Everything in the rooms were caribou themed with antlers on the bed headboard, lamps and a fake mounted head in the bathroom. Bathroom was amazing. We had an air conditioning vent right outside our door which was really noisy at night. All the spa stuff is extra and costs a fortune. Plus, as the receptionist put it, 'the pool is more like a warm bath. '

The room was clean and the lobby rustic but the confirmation email said that I had "complimentary heated underground parking, " no mention of minimal availability. Turns out this is on a first come first served basis and the staff won't do anything if you arrive at the hotel after the lot is full even if your confirmation email says you should have parking. If you are going to this hotel and want to park underground, get there before 5:30 on a Saturday otherwise the lot will be full. Also a heads up that they pre-auth an extra $50 a night to your credit card and don't tell you. They only charge the amount on the receipt but if you check your pending transactions it can be a surprise. No breakfast included in the price. Really not happy with the service in general. Lots of other hotels in Banff, I'll be trying one of those next time.

The hotel is a "bit dated" but so is everything else in Banff, that's the charm. It's in line with everything else out there because you're staying in a national park. Parking was available which was nice (some hotels are tough to find and you're on the street behind fending for yourself, and the snow). Great customer service and attention to detail, were prompt for every request. The bed's leave a little to be desired with the mattresses having this vinyl wrapping or something causes the sheets to constantly slip off. Then your feet or hands are touching the bare mattress, other than that was a comfortable stay.

AMAZING! We just had our wedding reception at this hotel with the keg as dinner. Everything was perfect! The hotel was so great with letting us use the room we were getting ready in for as long as we needed even though I am sure they needed us out. Our server for dinner served 18 people by herself and did amazing! Anything we needed she got it! I am sure we were a pain but they always had a smile on their faces willing to help with whatever we needed.

Eats great and an excellent deal. Unforgettable.
