Stay away. Seriously, please read until the end so hopefully you can save yourself from an awful experience.
First, the practical issues: It's far from everything on a dark street with nothing around. It's also not a hostel, its a two room apartment with bunk beds. There is one bathroom so there is always a line, even at 3am. It stunk so bad we had to sleep with the windows open and our coats on. There were even roaches in the bathroom and the smell of the fridge could nearly bring tears to your eyes. I ended up waiting 2 days to shower until I was able to find another accommodation (after a 13 hour flight). Also since it's not a hostel there's nobody there if you need something.
I found the owner to be dishonest and aggressive. A lot of people have commented that he's a nice guy — this is true as long as you're on his good side. In my case, because of the smell and bad condition I nicely said I would need to find another place, and foolishly tried to work something out. Since he knew I had a (legitimate complaint) he used that to get ahead and lie to Booking and mark me as a no show so he could keep my money. He also doesn't give receipts, so you won't have evidence when you dispute. This is why he has high ratings on Booking — If you complain about anything he marks you as a no show so the platform won't let you review it. If you go to other sites you'll see a very different picture.
