It’s highly recommended. Close for everything and the staff is very friendly especially Salvador and Conrad they look after us during our stay for the whole week. We are surely coming back in this hotel for our next holiday. 👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing bar and very professional lobby and door men, I also noticed the staff are very well dressed with very professional demeanour, a staff member named Bronwyn was very kind and held the elevator doors for me, will definitely return.
Nice restaurant and staff.
Great hotel. Very accommodating staff. Highly recommend.
Great Atmosphere, would definitely recommend.
Great restaurant & bar, Good value.
Beautiful rooms Very spacious.
We have just stayed at Rydges World Square for 2 nights (30/31 December 2021) for a New Years Eve harbour cruise event with We had a lovely stay with friendly staff who really went out of their way to look after us. Concierge very helpful. The rooms are well serviced, spacious and comfortable. Great food in Cider Bar and the breakfast in Amber Restaurant was beautiful.
Great spot clean tidy friendly helpful staff 10 out of 10 loved our stay.
After making a purchase through Groupon I’ve been discriminated against for not being vaccinated. Unable to attend my booking and refusing refund. Extremely disappointed.
Friendly staff from reception, security, concierge, bar staff. Overall from everyone. Very clean all over. Nothing seems to be a problem. Great location
Thank you again.
Until next time.
Rooms were small. Bathrooms very dated. Staff friendly. Definitely needs a face lift.
Not a lot of room in our double room.
Waited till dead on 2pm for our room.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, good service, good food.
Would definitely come back!
Great clean and comfortable rooms. Great service and so relaxing.
Great location in the middle of the city
Plenty of great place to eat, drink and shop
Heaps to see and do.
Great location and close to good restaurants.
Great central location with various eateries around it.
Very helpful concierge and reception.
Breakfast was delicious!
Excellent customer service and happy that they have staff waiting down at the parking lot to lead show us what and where we needed to go.
The staff are fantastic, very helpful.
Great weekend so far, 3 family rooms booked for 50th celebrations. Kids got to make pizzas with the chefs and what a brilliant idea it was! They had a great time. Adults then dined with divine share platters of pork belly and tomahawk steak… fantastic service and food tonight. Rooms comfy, clean and spacious. Great to finally get out in 2020.
Location is great for shopping dining etc.
Happy stayed on my long weekend! Clean & quiet! Restaurants everywhere! Closed to Chinatown! Highly recommended!
I attended a work conference here and it was fantastic the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
Friendly staff and lovely rooms.
Wow… what an absolutely wonderful experience… and having a balcony was to die for… every single staff member we spoke to went above and beyond to make our stay special… my daughter and I usually go to Melbourne every year for her birthday… as we could not do it this year we were disappointed but experiencing your great amenities, location and service made up for that… We would like to especially mention the gorgeous staff member who checked us in on Tuesday and who assisted us on Wednesday night… she is a definite asset to your hotel… just wish I asked her name… thank you!
We stayed here as a family and did a zoo/aquarium weekend! Restaurant and waiter were faultless, room service amazing and reception cleaning staff extraordinarily friendly. I could quite happily stay in the hotel without even leaving the premises. Everything was AMAZING
Thank you.
Perfect, right in the middle of it all, very helpful, approachable and happy staff. Steaks are out of this world, would recommend and definitely stay again. Thank you.
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff.
Friendly staff, very clean room. Would highly recommend.
We had a great experience from check in to check out. Very friendly and prompt service. We enjoyed some drinks in the cidery bar where the service, atmosphere and music were second to none! Can’t wait to come back!
Nice service at the reception.
Lovely hotel, clean, comfortable and pretty central to everything you want to get to. A 25 min walk to the harbour bridge and opera house and a 30 min bus ride to Bondi beach.
All the staff are very helpful and polite. The room was very spacious and close to shops and places to eat. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
I did not know and expect there is a hotel in World Square building because all there are shops and restaurants. I like the Rydges Hotel. The hotel is a friendly family atmosphere. Good.
Nice clean hotel modern and right in the middle of the city.
Have stayed here a couple of times now and each time the staff have been fantastic and friendly.
I couldn't fault the service at all and we've stayed in a few different places.
Well done.
We'll definitely be coming back again.
Great hotel, with amazing restaurant, rooms and facilities. Incredible customer service.
Great location, staff are always very happy and helpful
Absolutely love the beds and the pillows.
Friendly, efficient staff. Lovely quiet rooms. Very central location for all the sights and amenities.
Great bar with some of the best ciders on offer. Rooms very spacious and quite, street noise wise.
Thank you for your hospitality Rydges World Square. We had booked as priority rewards member and was complimented a bottle of champagne for our Anniversary. The children’s pack was great as well, it kept my five year old busy.
The place is right on the CBD with everything around it from shopping centres to restaurants. We also enjoyed drinking at the Cidery Bar — the atmosphere was very relaxed. We will definitely stay again, when we are back in Sydney. Thank you to the beautiful lady and the gentleman who assisted us when we checked out. Also to the lovely lady that looked after our room everyday — Rose, thank you.
Great location however rooms do need an upgrade especially for the premium prices we paid. Toilet very old, bathroom door not working. However an enjoyable stay nonetheless.
I've only recently started going back, having joined their Rewards program. Both times I've booked direct, then they've upgraded my room on arrival for free. All of the staff from front door to reception to room are exceedingly polite and always friendly and helpful, and the room is immaculate (I enjoy the option to not have my room made up every day if I don't want as well as I don't really feel it is necessary — that they voucher reward you for this is a bonus even if I don't use it). The location is great in World Square — it's nice having both a supermarket and many food options just downstairs in the shopping mall. It feels alive even at night, but also safe — it feels more like a residential and entertainment community of people outside than just business city CBD (though it's only 5-10 minutes walk up to Pitt St. Mall). Depending on your room there is street noise, but the room muffles most of it and I've never had a bad night's sleep (helped by decent bedding and pillow options). I like predictability, and I find Rydges World Square to be consistent, predictably good.
4.5 stars if I could give a bit extra. Place is great and located in a fantastic area with lots of great eats. Less than a ten minute walk to Darling Harbor and maybe about thirty to Sydney Harbor. Very friendly staff, even gave an umbrella for us to use. Room was very clean and modern, they even had the portacot set up and ready for us at check in and offered a late check-out right off the bat. Very nice lobby too!
Great hotel in very central location. Excellent pub downstairs. Friendly and efficient staff. Very good rooms and well appointed. Showers are the only thing that let's them down.
Hotel is lovely inside, However, we booked 2 rooms which we choose to be together and on check in we was told our rooms would be on completely different floors. We were then informed that because we didnt have a credit card (only a debit card) that I had to pay $300 per room ($600 in total) which they have taken from my account otherwise we could not check in. We have been told we will get this back 2-5 business days after check out once they have inspected the rooms! Disgraceful business. We will never return to this hotel. I certainly wont be recommending this hotel to people, especially people who may be on holiday here, as I'm sure not many tourists have a spare $600 from their spending money to just hand over.
Great location and staff always friendly and helpful. Rooms are a good size with everything you need. Room service is only ok but lots to do around the area and plenty of restaurants about. Only half a block from Museum station.
Decent hotel with a good selection of restaurants and bars nearby. Located somewhat in the heart of Sydney City, accessible and easy to walk to many shopping centres and retailers. A little further from Darling Harbour but manageable if happy to walk the extra few minutes.
Big hotel in great location near the world square in Sydney. Close to main train station, and close enough to the cbd so that you can walk there if you are so inclined. Gym and restaurant on site but also close to a huge variety of eateries nearby. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable.
Amazing service from ALL the staff from being greeted by young guys @ entrance asking if I want my bag carried to the cherry front office staff upon arrival also so friendly & bubbly. Rooms always clean, mini bar/fridge goodies in rooms are great. Beds are comfortable, I love the baths in hotel rooms as I have multiple medical issues, nice soak in. Restaurant puts on huge buffet breakfast catering everyone's tastes. Location is ideal shopping centre & cafes under/around the hotel. walking distance to cinemas & major department stores short stroll. Again thank you to management & lovely staff such great service.
Great location. Standard rooms and reasonable prices. Nothing memorable here. If you want simple, no fuss in a convenient location, this is your spot.
Excellent service. The staff are friendly and professional. Hotel is very clean. Room had a separate bath and shower. Loved the king bed!
If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… Great hotel. We had a family room with two kids 8 & 12 and it was perfect with two bedroom areas each with their own bathroom, TV and sitting area, main bedroom also had a desk. Had dinner in the grill — delicious steaks. Handy location with plenty of shops and dining downstairs in the World Square centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking a bit pricey at $60 per 24 hours, but that's to be expected in Sydney city. Overall a great stay.

Absolutely fantastic stay! The staff were helpful for all of our requirements and the rooms were private and relaxing (and nice and darm with curtains drawn so sleep ins were awesome! ). The suites are extremely nice and look forward to staying here again!
My wife and I recently stayed here for our anniversary. Staff were great. V professional and nothing was too much trouble. From the early check in to the complimentary champers to the room upgrade, they really helped make our trip to Sydney memorable. Thank you Rydges. We will be back. Im only giving them 4 stars to keep them on their toes for next trip. Lol. X.
This is one of my favourite hotels. The location is fantastic. The staff are always very accommodating. I was pleasantly upgraded to a suite this time. The bed was very comfortable and the suite had everything I needed. The one downer was the shower head. I understand the term environmental but this was a bit ridiculous. I literally had to run around the shower to get wet. The water pressure was minimal. But that won't deter me from staying again. Thank you.
The room was lovely, but we had to wait to check in as housekeeping had not finished, the woman said it would be about 20 minutes and that she would call me when it was ready, half an hour passed and still no call so I went to the check in desk and surprise our room was ready, I don't think she had any intention of calling me. The bar downstairs wouldn't give me a straw without purchasing a drink and when I left a review one of the managers felt the need to call me in my room to ask why, which I found kind of weird and pushy. There was no coffee in the room and the elevators doors almost shut on me even though people were still stepping out of it.
But the room was clean and the bed was comfy and it's conveniently located to everything.
Super hotel in city center. The staff is really professional and helpful, the rooms and big and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and would definitely recommend.
Overall it is a very good hotel. Nice staff at the reception and conveniently located in the CBD. The rooms and bathrooms are great, well designed and maintained. The breakfast could improve though and the concierge staff could be told to be more friendly.
Spent the afternoon on the roof top which was very enjoyable. Service was great the staff were friendly with a welcoming vibe. Espresso martini’s were delicious.
Breakfast is dreadful. Housekeeping even worse with dirty cups and bins not the emptied for days. The bar, the Cidery shuts at 10 and try’s to get you to leave at 9.30 by turning the lights up, the music off and refusing to serve you. The bar staff all think they are working somewhere posh and love themselves. One of the lifts is permanently broken so it can take 10 minutes to get down.
We stayed for 1 night on the top floor of Rydges, World Square. Our room was upgraded and we were provided a bottle of champagne on arrival — completely spoilt! The staff are wonderful and the breakfast the next morning was great also. The only thing I would say is that the king size bed was very very soft, not the usual 'dream maker' style beds I have slept on before at Rydges. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Staff very welcoming & helpful let us into our room early on arrival, which was really appreciated after 23hr flight from UK. Room large, clean, well equipped the bed was incredibly comfortable. Restaurant relaxed, food good, serviced by friendly staff. Concierge knowledgeable & provided excellent service. A wonderful stay & would definitely recommend.
Rydges Pitt Street is well located, with plenty of shopping, entertainment and dining options a short walk away, but for anything more than an overnight stay, there are better options. I asked for a quiet room, away from the elevators so the arrival and departure noise on the floor and the elevator 'ding' can't be heard night and day, but the cleaners on my floor (18) started at about 06:30, so their clattering and talking woke me up. They also left a sugar packet on the floor near the elevators for my entire 2 day stay, and an empty glass near my door, so their cleaning was clearly not taking in the hallways. The corridors are dark and gloomy, almost felt spooky, and the brown carpet and dark furnishings felt depressing and old. My window view of the blank wall of the adjoining building didn't help make the room feel welcoming. Bathrooms and amenities all about as expected for a hotel of this price, but nothing special. Lots of power points near each side of the bed, so top marks for catering to the tech dependent traveller.
Stayed at the Rydges World Sq for a night with my husband and one year old. We stayed in an executive suite which offered a closed off bedroom, perfect for the baby to sleep while the adults could still stay up without disturbing her. A great location with easy access to everything Sydney City has to offer. A great place to stay — will definitely stay again given the opportunity.
I stay at Rydges regularly and am always very happy with the stay. I ask to be placed in a quiet area of the hotel and this request is always accommodated. The staff are always friendly and happy to help out.
I arrived early (8am) completely shattered from a long flight but still lots of work to do before meetings etc. Asked about the possibility of an early check in and it was sorted within 20 minutes. Room upgraded, happy friendly staff, and offers for drinks / food if required. I have already told several friends about my amazing stay. It is great to find somewhere so accommodating.
I stay at Rydges all over Australia. They're all good but World Square stands out. The rooms are meticulous, the Italian Restaurant is always excellent & the staff are efficient & polite even when under pressure. The Hotels location on the rail line & within the CBD is very convenient.
I have stayed at Rydges on multiple occasions now and will keep going back to them. I will be with them again in November for the weekend, and looking forward to it. This time I am taking my family. The rooms are clean, and the beds are super comfy. The restaurant has great food, if you choose to stay in house and the bar makes great cocktails. Should there be an issue, the staff are more than happy to fix it.
Staying in a room along side Pitt Street, the room was very noisy at night. Hotel needs to invest in double glazed windows. Could clearly hear loud traffic noise through the middle of the night, loud voices, etc. Restaurant was good although waiters heading with the food from the restaurant kitchen to the adjoining Cidery seemed to enjoy short cutting through the restaurant tables and not following the defined path out of the restaurant. Tacky and not very stylish. Having spent nearly 200.00 on dinner, you would expect a little courtesy. Room was comfortable. Recommended — but bring your ear plugs.
The room and the location were great for me. Food, drinks and supermarket were all right there. Easy walk to Darling Harbour and International Conference Centre.
Great! I was presenting at a conference here and so stayed on site. The hotel is exceptionally well located in central Sydney, with an entrance straight onto World Square, and a short walk to Chinatown or the shopping precinct. The room was very comfortable and well appointed (although it was on floor 19, the hotel isn't 19 stories high, so that was a little odd! ) and the conference facilities were excellent. I ate dinner at the in-hotel restaurant (The Cidery) one night and had breakfast delivered to my room; both were lovely meals at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional, and the service lasted until the moment I got in the taxi to leave, with the concierge bringing my bags to the taxi for me. Thanks for making a work trip so easy!
We had an amazing stay at Rydges hotel world square. We were able to get a free upgrade to the deluxe king room. The room was spacious, very clean, great valet service, staff were very friendly and easy to approach when needed, had a quick and easy check in and check out and our room was available immediately. It was a pleasant stay at Rydges world square and we would definitely book again in the future. Thank you to management and staff.
During our five day stay at 'The Rydges', every member of staff we came in contact with were very pleasant, friendly and amiable. Nothing was a problem to them. May I mention the concierge — there is very little these guys don't know about Sydney, and what they don't know, wouldn't be worth knowing anyway. Our room was perfect for our needs — not too spacious and not cramped, well appointed, and very quiet. The breakfast buffet was to die for and the selection was huge. Location — Pitt Street, in the center of the C. B. D. With facilities close by, with the Central Station at one end and Circular Quay at the other. If I have a need to return to Sydney, I won't hesitate to re-book at 'The Rydges' and, if someone asks my recommendation, again, 'The Rydges'.
Really solid 4 star hotel very conveniently located for the south end of the CBD and 1 block from Museum station. Always very good service. Fitness centre is well equipped. Good range of well-prepared room service options. The bars and restaurants are all pretty decent without being exceptional. Right above a supermarket and major dining/ shopping precinct.
Just had a night at Rydges World Square followed by a full day conference.
Booked room was then upgraded-very nice!
Ordered room service for dinner, best wagyu burger I have ever had!
The conference facilities were great, as was the quality of the food served throughout the day.
The only complaint I have, and it is the same issue at every Rydges, is the lack of thought for a suitable mirror/lighting to put makeup on!
Modern and comfortable rooms.
In this bar the cheapest alcohol in Sidnee.
On my side, time to take a ride on the site next week. The effective. Connecting since the time to take a ride on the site of. I, I'm doing a tour of France. You have to say, too. But it's a good one, it's.
This place was exceptional. We were upgraded upon arrival which was very much appreciated when you didn't have to do that. The staff were very polite and helpful. Definitely recommend and enjoyed my time. P. S the bedding was perfect.
We love staying at Rydges, staffs are amazing and always available to assist. Great arrival experience as they always acknowledged us by name and organise room as per our preference. Vema and Diana are amazing, great ambassadors for your reception team.
If you need Internet, go somewhere else. The "fast and free Wi-Fi" is a joke. Speed is 2-4Mbps download/upload. That's 1/10th of the ADSL2 speed in Australia. Also, their network is OPEN, without any password at all. No Wi-Fi password and no authentication after connection. I have a mac and they suggested I use the PCs in the "business centre" (just a table with a few outdated PCs). Would not come here again and would not recommend. Bonus problems: Room is dusty to the point of not being intolerable. Point the light to the middle of the room and you'll see all the particles floating around. Aircon vents are disgusting with accumulated dust stuck there. Pillows are made of bird feathers that poke your face when you move around at night.
Nice clean room with great hotel staff. Wifi service is good through out the hotel and the wired service is very quick. Minor issues with the TV, channel selection is limited and will not allow for an external connection. So if you want to use a Chromecast/Fire Stick/Roku etc you will be out of luck. Location downtown is great, walking distance to lots of food and is only a quick cab ride away from the Opera House. Would stay here again.
We loved staying at Rydges World Square. It was our first time at this hotel but it won't be our last as we had a great room and a great stay. We were upgraded to a balcony room and it was just perfect. Great Rydges bed! Breakfast was delicious. The staff at Rydges were so friendly and welcoming. We were able to walk around Sydney with everything close. Central Station, Darling Harbour etc. Fantastic hotel!
My husband & I stayed at your hotel recently & were very happy with the experience. The staff are very friendly & helpful, the room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. We had the full buffet breakfast on both mornings & while it was an excellent breakfast, there is no where that says you charge extra for the coffee. I thought it was included, there is a little notepad on each table & a pen to fill it in. But no prices anywhere. I liked that the balcony was furnished, so many places have nothing at all on their balconies. Overall, a wonderful stay, thank you. Kind regards, Catherine Lorch.
Nice to find a Sydney hotel offering a twin room with double beds (as opposed to singles). Good location. Good-sized tidy room with everything that was required (incl. Kettle & free Wi-Fi). No issues encountered over the three nights. Would stay here again.
From checkin to checkout and everything in between, the service and facilities at this hotel was just brilliant. I had just gotten off a 14 hour flight and arrived at reception quite late and very weary. Checkin was efficient and quick. To my delight I was upgraded and given a late checkout (I am a black card Priority Guest Rewards Member) and I didn't have to ask. The room was new and fresh and beds very comfortable. After being away overseas for 5 weeks — it was heaven! Thank you once again Rydges World Square. Put simply — I wouldn't stay anywhere else! Love your hotel. It really does feel like my second home.
The room was clean and staff friendly. We got an upgrade which was great, early check in and a quiet room. I was surprised that the movies cost so much to watch at $15 AUS. And the remaining tele channels mostly news. My experience is usually a sky package or similar included. Also we found the sheets to be a little itchy — think the washing powder as everything looked clean. Bed super comfy.
Stayed in an executive room. Nice clean and well maintained room with all the amenities I needed. Room service was great and staff have been pleasant and helpful.
Spent 3 nights at ridges Sydney Pitt St. In April 2016. The reception andstaff at hotel were very nice and polite. The room was cleaned evry day and sheets changed, however the two double beds in the room were wery soft. They bent over 150 m. M. And ofered no back support at all when we voiced our concern they said these beds were all the same throughout the hotel and pointed to a sign advertising them for sale. They did put mattres toppers over them but it wasn`t any better. Culdn`t get any sleep the 3 nights we were there ang both got sore backs. Would never stay there again.
Lovely stay — comfortable room, polite staff. Great that they're offering free Wi-Fi in all rooms, more hotels should do that! Excellent location, right in the middle of the city.
Worst hotel I have ever been to. They call themselves a 4.5 star property but don't believe in changing dirty stained bed sheets. They spray clean the sheets on the bed itself and not replace them. The first night we slept and ignored it. The second night even after requesting the front desk in the morning we came back to an unhygienic bedroom. I reckon even the cheapest hostels would be ok to supply clean bedsheets. Less importantly foxtel/ television also did not work on the first night.
Surperb location in the moddle of the CBD. Close to everything.
This hotel was awesome value for money. The rooms were really big and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, even held our bags for us when we arrived early so we could go explore before check in time. The location was perfectly placed in the city, 2 min walk to museum Station.
The location at World Square is convenient both from our arrival at Central Railway Station and to places to be visited in the CBD. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the bar and restaurant saves looking for outside eating places when you first arrive. The hotel appears to be maintained in good condition — things work when required e. G the lifts, the air conditioner, the television, etc.
The guys at the front desk were very well prepared, friendly and helpful. Room service was very good. The self service check out is very good. The room was a good room (plenty of room and nice furnishing) but it was not clean at all. Hair/pubes in the bathroom — on soap dish, sink, shower, powder/mark-up on bathroom bench/floor and dust on furniture/room service area/ guides/room info / mini-bar / bedroom tables — a good room not kept up to very average cleaning. Unfortunately, despite all the good things, I wont be able to stay again whilst the room is grotty.
RYDGES World Sq has yet to disappoint whether I am in town for business or pleasure The team go the extra mile Thanks Again.
Great location, free Wi-Fi, good social atmosphere although it turns into a bar on weekends. Rooms are okay but dated as goes with some of the bathrooms. Quite reasonable for short term stay.
I stay here every time I come to Sydney. Fantastic location and the friendliest staff in the business. And make sure to visit the Cidery Bar featuring some great local craft beer on tap. Pado's Pale is my favorite.
Card machine down, but it isn't really their fault. The problem is they also consider that a broken window and who let in the rain, it isn't really their fault. Come with your own towel because this is not provided for in the price and don't have too many demands on the cleanliness of the toilets…
Here is convenient location for restraint, Bay Area, fish market etc. also when we request extra bed they confirmed and quick response too. And all staff was very kindness and informed us best info. About Aussie beef. Thank you very much and we will enjoy tomorrow of last day in Sydney. Best regards,
My partner and I used to always go to a Rydges for accommodation because of his membership. The rooms standards were always nice, lovely staff at check-in and they had no issue with us calling up for a late checkout, and have it organised for us since it was in their system that we always chose to opp for the later checkout. It wasn't until around March or April earlier this year when we stayed at Rydges World Square that after deciding not to go out due to the weather I put my nice, new and unworn $500+ Josh Goot dress in the wardrobe so that it wouldn't wrinkle. After getting the late check out and what not I realised the following day after packing my clothes away that I didn't have my dress on me. For the next couple of days my partner and I looked everywhere for it, he figured that we might have accidentally left it in our rooms wardrobe. So we called up the next day enquiring about the dress and if any of the staff handed anything in. To my disappointment nothing was handed in, and we were asked to contact lost property again in a few days. Having done that, called up (a multitude of times — within a span of 3-4 wks) gone in to the Rydges to enquire again, we were told once again nothing was found. I got so frustrated because there was no other place it could have been except the wardrobe.
An adequate city centre hotel boosted by good staff and a practical location. If you're OK with the price and where it is, there's unlikely to be any reason not to have a fine stay. I presented at a conference here and those facilities were good. It was actually the only venue which got all my equipment requests correct.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, every body was very helpful and the concierge's were great! I ordered in room service a few times and the food was fantastic and on time! The bed was very comfortable and I am VERY fussy when it comes to pillows I always check that the pillows are not old and stained under the pillowslip as there is nothing worse. The pillows were very comfortable and clean,, The block out blinds were great, and there was no noise during the night, very quiet, I was on level 18. I was there on business and would look to stay personally very soon.
I stayed at the Rydges World Square for just over 2 months. The staff, food, rooms and Concierge service were all excellent. I used the valet parking every day and those guys were amazing. Even though Pitt St is extremely busy, my car would be ready for me every morning at the allocated time. Also they would nearly always meet me as I pulled up of an evening and address me by name which was a lovely touch. The room that I used had recently been fully renovated and overlooked the World Square. It really was beautiful. The buffet breakfast every morning was delicious and would get me off to work well satisfied. Eating dinner most nights in the Sphere Restaurant was an absolute delight. The Restaurant Manager Vincenzo is an absolute legend. He is the life of the restaurant and really ensures that you are satisfied. The chefs do an excellent job and swap the menu around from time to time. The hotel Manager (John McIlwain) is a lovely guy who runs a great establishment. He is often on the Concierge desk meeting new guests and checking up on the satisfaction levels of existing patrons. I highly recommend a stay here. I have tried other hotels in Sydney and this is excellent choice because of it's great value for money and genuinely central location. I will be back!
A great value-for-money hotel located in World Square, close to Central, George Street cinemas, Town Hall etc. Excellent service from the Valet and a no fuss check-in. Got an upgrade (I stay here frequently) which was great. Cidery Bar is nice and there are no complaints about the restaurant. 10/10
Nice cosy rooms in this well located hotel. Good service and friendly staff too.
The rooms were lovely, the bed was comfortable and massive The block out Blinds are amazing! Great for a sleep in after being out all night. Location is great. In between darling harbour and Oxford street. Love the direct usb plug, in the power sockets next to the bed! Only down side is in the shower the soap dish, came off the wall and landed in my foot, very painful and now have a massive bruise, room was 1806. Might need a new one since it just pops off its supports. Valet parking needs to be a bit more sign posted. Had to drive around twice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will recommend.
I use Rydges World Square every time I come to Sydney. I absolutely loved the place, the rooms were always clean, I'd always feel welcome & like a VIP. Now things are just starting to go down hill once you's have started the 3 types of memberships & renovations. The reception staff are not as friendly as they used to be, half of them don't even smile & it's not very welcoming. My last stay the TV did not work as well as the alarm clock. The mini bar fridge was filthy & the shower smelt like mold. There was rubbish & wet towels in the hall ways which was there for 12+ hours. Honestly i'm thinking of going to another hotel. I come up to Sydney quiet a bit once every 2-3 months & I don't feel like your hotel is really worth what I pay for anymore. I used to get complimentary bottles of wine, free upgrades, & a warm welcoming at reception & the staff noticing I use the hotel quite a bit & would make nice comments on it. But suddenly all that just stopped. It's very disappointing.
Internet was not working. Price is good for location. Room was OK for that price.
Great service. Great location. We enjoyed our stay and here will def be our first choice when visiting Sydney again next time.
Graciously aging, but old nevertheless. This was once, no doubt a top hotel but despite it being reasonably well-maintained and clean it still gives off an old hotel feeling which may put off some guests from choosing to stay there again. The breakfast buffet is good. Real coffee costs extra. A really nice touch is the $10 restaurant voucher if you don't need room cleaned.
Very central and affordable accomodation. You can walk to most major tourist attractions.
Definitely not as bad as most reviews are stating. The floors definitely are dirty and sticky, the rooms do smell a bit like wet carpet, but it wasn't that bad. I would recommend if you are trying to save a few $$. Close to shopping, trains, Darling Harbour, etc. Very loud at night as it is on a busy street with partying people.
I stayed in the World Square Strattons Hostel in November, and it was by far the worst experience I have had. I have stayed at many hostels and cheap hotels in sydney and as a backpacker in Europe, and none have met the disappointment of this experience. I stayed in a double room — which was actually a dorm room with double based bunk beds letted out to s single person. The mattress was hard and thin, very hard to sleep on. Pillows were poor also. There was no ventilation throughout the hostel (and no fans provided). The only window looked out onto the stairwell — letting in constant light and noise throughout the night. There was no curtain to block the light, so I ended up using the other beds pillows. The entire floor smelt, and the room had a strong odour of foot. The previous days laundry was packed in bags in the corridor, and was not removed at all from my check in in the early afternoon to check out the next late morning. Sound proofing is non existent, and any noise in the corridor come straight through the door. As a large hostel, obviously there was constant foot traffic. To sum up — hot, stuffy, smelly, noisy, cluttered (if not dirty), with the barest facilities. Not at all worth the money. The only positive thing I can say is that the staff seemed nice, and the door lock was secure.
LOCATION This hotel sits in the best location as it is situated within a walkable distance to Chinatown, Hyde Park, Oxford street, Darling Harbour and even Kings Cross. Otherwise, buses are very accessible within a 2 mins walk on Elizabeth street to Bondi, Coogee, Bronte or buses on George street and Townhall to other parts of Sydney. ROOMS The rooms are as what you would expect of a hotel room. But sometimes you may be entitled to a deluxe room if it is available. SERVICE/BREAKFAST This is where I have a problem with this hotel. The location is so good, that it would only be sensible to boast great service and breakfast to accentuate the greatness of the hotel. However, after a nice day out and a good rest, you wake up to a very 'average' buffet breakfast. I am also commenting on this because I go to this hotel for buffet breakfast quite often as I am a frequent travellor. And the breakfast is basically 'downsizing' from bad to worse. Someone in this hotel needs to address this! In any other Asia Pacific region country, this is not acceptable for a buffet breakfast of a 4 star hotel! Anticlimatic.
My partner and my 2 kids aged 11 and 14 stayed 1 nite (4 ppl). 2 single bed place together to form a king size bed plus a roll out bed. Room was small to what excepted as friend had recommended this place. The shower was low pressure and not very hot, lucky it was warm when we stayed. Corridor of that level smelt like someone had vomited and not cleaned probably. Not completely happy but consider only 1 nite. Radisson was better and has indoor poor /spar and sauna facility plus gym.
Great location, have always loved staying there! This time we got an upgrade to a Suite so it was even more wonderful. Big rooms and a very comfortable Dreambed. Not to forget the late checkout! :).
The staff are polite and helpful at all times, check in and out were streamlined. Rooms were clean and basically furnished. Location of the hotel is great for city access although street noise was somewhat intrusive. Areas of concern: the bottle of wine in the mini bar had been opened by previous guests and had not been replaced (I advised reception and I was not charged for this). Daily housekeeping was inconsistent: over the 6 nights I had to request replacement of milk, tea bags etc on more than one occasion as this had not been attended to, sheets were not changed despite being marked (this was attended to after I complained to reception), cups, kettle etc were not replaced in cupboards allocated to this each day.
An excellent place to stay in the CBD if you like drinking copious amounts of goon and getting little to no sleep. The cockroaches in the kitchen add to the character of this run down shack, a place just above the living standards of those on the first fleet. While its not the worst hostel, it is cheap and certain the fulfils the needs of the average goon hardened backpacker.
Good place to meet people, especially if you are in the infamous 18 bed dorm. Not a great place if you want to get a decent night's sleep. The lights are usually on in the 18 bed until 2am and people are constantly filing in and out making noise. You can stay in smaller dorms, but they are pretty expensive. Amenities are basic, all in all it's alright, but for the price you might as well stay somewhere nicer a bit further out of town.
Nice place right in the middle of the city centre with free Wi-Fi. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious enough. The only down side of this hostel was the night club till 1am on the weekends. Apart from that great hostel and good value for money.
I stayed here for several days during July of 2013. The place is horrible! Expensive. Rates are high when services and rooms are terrible Run down. The building is very old and not maintained at all. The bathrooms are disgusting and faucets and shower heads do not work properly. Wifi is free but only usable on second floor of building! Worst of all, the first two floors are part of a run down club where they play loud music that vibrates the entire building! Good luck trying to sleep and get rest. The only good thing about this place is its location. It's in the dead center of the CBD and convenient but there are tons of nicer places that are cheaper and much more accommodating for the same price or less.
Hotel very central, well located. Pleasant staff, clean premises.
Good value for money.
We stayed with three people in a double bed room, that's possible because there is an extra bed on top of the double bed. We enjoyed our stay, especially because it was really clean, the kitchen had everything you need and the location was great. We liked it maybe even a little better because we just switched from a very dirty hostel in Kings Cross and compared to that, it's a lot nicer to just go out for a couple of beers or a walk around the habour. Disadvantages were maybe just that Wi-Fi was not available on the rooms and that there was no ac. But still a lot better than the dirty hostels in Kings Cross.
