Room 401 has a balcony with a beautiful, tree-filled view of the quiet, peaceful alley below. In the middle of Hanoi's old quarter, in the middle of everything but remarkably quiet location. Breakfast was simple, and small kitchen is often very crowded with other guests. Order the pineapple pancakes (a pineapple crepe, really) for a nice treat. Keep in mind that the hotel is in an alley, so cars cannot get through. Taxi pick up and drop off close by — I used 38 Hang Bong as my taxi rendezvous point. Alleyway full of food stalls and fruit vendors. Staff at hotel speak excellent English and are very helpful. I stayed here for 8 wonderful days and will definitely stay here the next time I visit.

I loved my stay here. Location was excellent and very walkable. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very helpful when looking for suggestions and booking tours. Breakfast is basic but good. Would definitely stay again.

Best price-quality for a family run hotel. Very modern and clean room and bathroom. Helpful train booking service as well as pick up service from airport. However, if the common area and dining area can be improved and kept available only for guests, it will be a real wonderful hotel.

The only bad thing with this place was the size of the room. The room is nicely decorated but it's super small. The service was great and the breakfast was outstanding — large variety of food in the buffet and everything was tasty!

The basic room was so small we didn't have place for our bags. The staff is kind, everything is clean. The shower was great, the breakfast was great as well.

For a 2 stars hotel, Tung Trang Hotel is really better. The staff is brilliant, it feels like a family business and all the guests meet at breakfast, it's very friendly. The position in the heart of Hanoi is ideal, right around the corner from the lake. The breakfast, while not very rich, was lovely and we appreciated the fact that on one of the days when we went on a tour the staff woke up to prepare special breakfast for us. It felt special! The hotel sent a car to pick us up from the airport and drop us off again, it was useful. Overall we are happy with our stay, because we didn't had high expectations from a 2 stars hotel. We didn't spent much time, being away every day on tours.

The best family hotel in downtown Hanoi. Great and helpful staff, clean rooms, close to all major attractions. In the past two years stayed three times with them, and definitely next visit to Hanoi, because they’re my family now.

Quiet Lane hidden in a noisy city. Balcony rooms are canopied by overhanging greenery and flowers. Quite the oasis. Family run reception is always a good sign of genuine hospitality.

This was the first placed we stayed in when we arrived in Vietnam. It's a great little place to stay in. Quiet too, except when our kids were there! It has a lift to get you up the floors. The family who own it are great and we're very helpful for us and the kids. Make sure you learn how to use the shower properly or you may end up with a few cold ones. Also, make your showers fast :) Other than that, it was a fantastic place to stay in and start our adventure.

Lovely owners/ family, who have run the hotel for decades, over several generations. Great location in the old quarter, close to everything, but in a quiet small alley off the main roads. They allowed us to modify our reservation when weather changed our plans, and we're very helpful in arranging transport and sharing advice. Breakfast was simple, but fine considering the reasonable price.

The family there was nice enough but neglected to inform me how the shower worked. The showers hold 15 L of hot water and, despite them stating it would only take ten minutes to reheat, take at least thirty to an hour for fully hot water again. Not so inconvenient if you know and plan for it, but finding out right before checkout in the morning was an unpleasant surprise.
