The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood, but you can still reach many attractions on foot. The service and staff are excellent. There is a beautiful inner courtyard and the atmosphere is very quiet. The room is fine overall, but the mattress is a bit hard and the bathroom is very small.
L’Argamak is a rather odd kind of place. Great location. A terrace with a view. A courtyard which can be pretty pleasant in good weather. And, all the potential for being a great boutique hotel.
However, there’s a lot which is not right. You enter the property through a daunting looking doorway — with not a soul in sight. Next, walk across a pleasant courtyard to encounter a shut door. Push it open, and then you finally know it’s a hotel!
At the Front Desk, typically, a youngster who barely knows English will welcome you, BUT full payment upfront in cash required!
The rooms are smallish and can do with an upgrade. Same for the bathrooms.
During our stay (1st week November), the temperatures dropped sharply. But, breakfast was served in a semi — open space. Everything stone cold. And, even what was there wouldn’t get replenished. To be fair, an order for eggs would be taken, and that would arrive warm!
All in all, an overpriced, underwhelming place which is trying to extract max mileage out of its location.

We really enjoyed our stay at L’Argamak. What we loved most was the location. It is right in the historic center, just 5 minutes on foot from Gur Emir and around 10 minutes from Registan, which made everything very easy to visit without needing transport.
The hotel has a lot of charm and feels much more personal than a standard hotel. It is quiet, welcoming, and has a very authentic atmosphere. After spending the day walking around Samarkand, it was always nice to come back and relax there.
The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay, and the room was clean, comfortable, and full of character. The terrace is also a lovely place to enjoy the atmosphere of the old city.
If you want to stay somewhere with a great location, real charm, and a true historic Samarkand feel, L’Argamak is an excellent choice.
