Red Chilli Hideaway

We stayed at several lodges while in Uganda and this was the nicest. The rooms were basic, included mosquito netting and a couple outlets, the shared bathrooms were clean and stocked, showers were the best of anywhere we went, they have a nice pool and reasonably priced bar, towels were $5usd each (very expensive for the area) so bring your own, the location sucks, very far from everything. Staff were just ok, not very friendly. Red chili was definitely nothing special but nicer than other places we stayed in Uganda.

You will not find a cooler vibe and mix of travellers in Kampala than Red Chilli — Debbie and the team have created a beautiful accommodation base for the intrepid traveller. Great rooms, affordable and excellent food!

I had an incredible stay at Red Chili Hideaway in Kampala! What truly sets this place apart is the warmth and friendliness of the staff. The purpose-built Red Chilli is perfect for groups and backpackers. This colourful, well-organized set-up has absolutely everything budget travellers need. The food is good, bar is very affordable and the staff friendly and well trained.
Butabika is a bit of a distance from town but the quiet surroundings and pool make the journey worth it.
Once at Red Chilli, you can get easy access to all kinds of short tours and travel information. Their most popular tour is a safari to Murchison, staying at their famous Red Chilli Backpackers.

The staff is so welcoming and friendly, the service top, the food good, the swimming pool so refreshing, everywhere very clean, there are so nice birds and monkeys and lizards, it's quiet and safe, the safari to Murchinson Falls was sooooo nice — I just had a really nice time, thank you for everything 😊

The Hideaway was an excellent place to stay with good facilities, very reasonably priced rooms, the decor improves every time we go, and not to forget the food was the best in our whole trip! Thank you Red Chilli staff for being so helpful.

Red chilli is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a quiet place in Kampala, away from the city center.
The staff is really nice and always helpful, the swimming pool and view are also great.
We would definitely recommend and come back if we ever visit Uganda again.

An Excellent place with great facilities including pool, table tennis, snooker table on 8 acres in prime Kampala location. Highly recommend!

The ACT International team has stayed at the Red Chilli for several years now, and this year once again did NOT disppoint us. In fact, the staff were extra-supportive over a number of the practical challenges we experienced, including loss of bags by Turkish Airlines. They provided many small kindnesses and great, friendly service which was matched on our really lovely trip to Murchison Falls. And we love Red Chilli's home-cooked food by kitchen staff you can talk to! Thank you all, at both locations!
It is worth adding, for anyone doing charity/NGO work in Uganda, that Red Chilli is a very appropriate place to stay, where you will meet like-minded people even if you are on your own. It also offers facilities for unpretensious corporate events/meetings/training in a much more congenial environment than many hotels.

Beautiful location, very quiet, no traffic in the surrounding.

My room had a fridge and bathroom with a great shower. Cleaningservice of the room when you ask it.

African setting, hideout as the name suggests, beautiful green gardens, pool, as monkeys watch by, or the other way round.

They have very bad service. Food is late. Sandwich take two hour. When you try to cancel they say they cant do that. So I go to bed hungry.

We were looking for a camping spot in the heart of Kampala and was glad to have found this lovely spot. The grounds were very nice and there was enough space even for a group that arrived later. We decided to sample their food on the 1st night as we were feeling too tired to cook and were glad we did. The steak was delicious. We ordered the same the very next day :)

Good accomodation with swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is friendly, the food is good. It is pretty far away from the center/airport.

Surprised me how lovely this place is — very friendly, couldn't have helped me more when my flight was delayed and I was worried about checking in, immediately reassured me. They also have beautiful grounds and lovely upstairs restaurant with a huge menu, suitable for vegetarians, vegans, etc.
Took about an hour to drive here from entebbe airport at 11pm, far side of Kampala.

Red Chilli hosted our group of 20 people from different districts in Uganda for a 3 day workshop, and we couldn't have been happier. First and foremost, all of the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The facilities are very clean and there are so many different spaces available to use. Butabika is quite far from the lively areas of Kampala, but its also nice and quiet at night, and Port Bell is just 5 minutes drive down the road.
It's a great spot for travelers passing through, or for a short residential project like we had.

I have enjoyed this place the view, the swimming pool and the customer care service are some of the things that stood out for me:)
