Jinja Backpackers

It's a cute place. Clean and friendly, but there was a very annoying noise during the whole night coming from the toilette (probably a water pump) that didn't let me sleep. It has a good bar and restaurant, but since the most important part of a hostel failed for me (sleeping) and considering the hostel is not cheap, it doesn't worth it.

Friendly guesthouse with a calm atmosphere and very kind people. The property is spacious, fenced and feels safe, with friendly dogs on site. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and the food was excellent – definitely a highlight.
The room was medium-sized and simple, with a shared bathroom and only one power outlet, which is something to be aware of.
Overall, the stay was pleasant and relaxed, and while it is slightly overpriced for the room category, the price–performance ratio is still okay thanks to the atmosphere and the people running the place. Also great choice for families.

A Hidden Gem in Jinja Perfect for Families on a Budget!
We stayed at Jinja Backpackers for the weekend as three families, and it honestly felt like home. The kids had so much space to play, with free bicycles and scooters, cozy corners for reading, and even gazebos where they played cards. The friendly dogs made it feel even warmer!
Rooms were clean, affordable, and each had its own charm. One family had the quadruple room ($90) that felt like a small home. Another stayed in a private cabin surrounded by greenery ($70). My family took the 8-bed dorm with a private bathroom wing perfect for our big group. You can also get a single dorm bed for just $15.
They let us use the percolator for hot water anytime, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was incredible I’m not a fish person, but the fish curry was unforgettable. Huge thanks to Ivan and the amazing staff for being so helpful, kind, and flexible.
We loved every minute and can’t wait to come back!

Jinja Backpackers is the best hostel I have ever stayed at! It has everything you could ask for: helpful staff, good food, great hangout areas both private and more spacious for socialising! The owner is super kind and you can tell that the owner has put in a lot of love and care for the place. If you ever go to Jinja, I would say it’s a must to stay at Jinja Backpackers.

The best place out of all the places I’ve stayed at in Uganda. 5/5 stars for the service is even too little. Nash is amazing and will put in all the effort to make your stay amazing and to bring people together. James makes the best cappuccinos for breakfast (which is included! ) and the rest of the staffs are also veryvery sweet and good. The food from the kitchen was to dream about, especially the fish and vegetables. Bar upstairs, restaurant downstairs and a lot of comfortable places in the garden to chill at.
I’ve stayed at the dorm, which was very comfortable. The most comfy beds I’ve slept in this far (soft mattress and pillow, instead of the rock hard ones you get at other places). Small lockers for your valuables and plenty of space to put your luggage. Hot showers with great water pressure. The dorm I’ve stayed at was close to the road, so you could hear noise from the local bar, people arriving late at night and cars driving by. But that would be the only small “negative” thing I could think about.
10/10. Would love to stay here again in the future.

Lovely place! Perfect hostel for backpackers of all levels. Excellent restaurant with a rich menu. Dorms with AC. Shared kitchen, large yard. Laundry services. Dogs and 2 cats 🐈

Very good price/quality ratio in a lovely atmosphere. I took a bed in a dorm and slept very well. The staff was also friendly and very accommodating on various demands, I will come back!

Friendly staff and great food. We have been to many restaurants in Jinja, but this is – together with another – the best and, above all, freshest food. Be sure to try the stews and wraps!

Great hostel to stay at in Jinja! This is the place where you depart from to go rafting. You can also pitch a tent, sleep in a dorm, or a cozy 2pax hut. Food is very good, also is the breakfast.

I highly recommend Jinja Backpackers! It’s conveniently located near the Source of the Nile and the water activities. Nash and Ivan were incredibly helpful, providing great recommendations for activities and always going out of their way to make us feel at home. A spot worth staying at!

We stayed four nights in the dorm at Jinja Backpackers. The room and wash rooms were very clean. The shower was super nice and had a lot of water pressure. The garden and lounging area were very calm and relaxing. Staff was very nice and we liked to hang out at the bar and very much enjoyed the food. Highly recommend.

Thanks to a friend's recommendation we found Jinja Backpackers and no regrets. We came for the food (open kitchen for everyone) and stayed for the accommodation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very close to the city centre and the source of the Nile. And on top of that it is very affordable. I would recommend it to anyone coming to Uganda and especially to Jinja. Thanks Jinja backpackers team!

Excellent stay. Because of another hotel's mistake, I originally booked in for three nights, but ended staying here for six.
Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. A nice chilled bar area where the beer was nicely chilled too.
Lovely place to kick back. Not too loud, but a great place to chat with Backpackers.
Friends were staying in another hotel (the one that mucked up my booking) and ended up spending the evenings in Backpackers with me.
Food was lovely. Breakfast was basic, but still good. Enough for me anyway.
When I'm back in Jinjer I'm staying here again. If you're booked somewhere else, you need to change and stay here. I stayed in a tent — very comfortable — but they have dorms and rooms too.
