Just done a wine, dine and duvet night. Had a great time, well worth the money. Food was great, the staff were nice and friendly and very attentive. Breakfast before leaving was also very nice, a buffet selection followed by a cooked choice. We have done this twice now, and will definitely be going back a third time.

The Huntsman was the perfect venue for my daughters wedding this weekend. I cannot thank Sal, his lovely wife & all their hardworking staff enough for making sure the day was a wonderful occasion, nothing was too much trouble & every little detail from the bedrooms, the ceremony/ function room to the food & drink was nothing more than perfection. You arrive as first time guests & leave feeling like VIP’s. Special thank you to the wonderful Melissa, our wedding co-ordinator, who has been invaluable over the last few month with her expert advise & support & pulled the whole day together, keeping us calm & ensuring the day went without a hitch. Thank you for understanding how difficult & emotional the day was going to be for us all & having the right amount of compassion whilst remaining professional too. From all the family, we had the best day ever, will definitely be back & would recommend your hospitality to everyone — thank you!

We had our wedding here on the 8th October 22. We couldn't recommend the venue enough. Melissa and all the staff were amazing and everything was how we wanted it. Everything ran smoothly and all the staff were super helpful. The venue, food, grounds, rooms everything was just perfect for our wedding and we very luckily had lovely weather for our day. All the staff were accommodating for different requirements we had. We cannot thank you all enough for ensuring our day was perfect, thank you so much Team Huntsman :)

We got married at the Huntsman inn on 7th October. I would 100% recommend this venue it’s absolutely beautiful. The staff were brilliant nothing was too much for them. Melissa the wedding coordinator was amazing she went above and beyond. She made our day run so smoothly nothing was too much for her. All members of staff were so helpful and again couldn’t do enough for us all. Everyone In my wedding ceremony commented on how amazing all the staff were. The food was absolutely delicious. We also had canapés which were so lovely and tasted amazing. The table centre pieces were amazing and I showed Melissa a picture and they were identical to what I had asked for. The hotel did everything for us and from this our day was totally stress free. We truly had the best day of our lives. The views were breathtaking and although it rained on our day we had a few hours rain free to go outside and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. I cannot thank all staff at the Huntsman enough but Melissa is just another level ❤️

Just spent a wonderful 5 nights here. Accommodation was beautiful and the food was brilliant. All the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Made us feel so special. Just terrific.

We had three nights at the huntsman whilst visiting family. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff are friendly and very efficient. The room was clean and well presented. Could not fault it. The evening menu in the restaurant was a little limited but was well balanced for all taste and the food was great and again well presented. Breakfast was superb and a great range of choice. We would say that breakfast was better than most places we have stayed. We loved the later checkout as that meant there was no rush on the final morning. The pub is very popular but it never seemed too busy nor the staff rushed. This added to the casual feel of the place. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be looking to stop here. Thank you all for such a great stay, and a comfortable few days.

21st February 2022 we went for a meal here and my partner proposed at the hotel. I said yes! The food was delicious. Plenty of choice and good portion sizes. I would have paid more for the bill — it is very reasonably priced. Lovely hotel rooms — clean and tidy, quality furnishings and tasteful decor. Stunning views. Staff were ever so helpful and polite. Very welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again. Our new favourite place for a night out. Highly recommended.

We drove out to the Huntsman for my dad's birthday. The cosy lunch is great value for money. Lovely atmosphere in a beautiful location.

Travelled an hour to meet my friend for lunch as we booked. Terrible service after our 1st drink we had to look for a waitress to order food instead of them coming to us. The waitress was not very apologetic and had a face on as we ordered! Then we ordered and waited a while longer. A new staff person came on to try and rectify the stress we felt but most of our conversation then had been taken up by our poor experience. Got 150ml gin n tonic free wow. Totally ruined our afternoon.

Not fresh but frozen food, 8oz steak looked like it had a fight with a steam roller and lost, well over cooked, then the member of staff said I had asked for it to be over cooked! Then waited a good 20 mins for the manager to come over, apparently he was busy but they wasn’t many people in, then waited a long time for someone to come over to take our desert order but no one came, we even asked for someone to come and take our order but still no one came! Finally someone came over after they served everyone else first, even though we had asked before the other people arrived. Very rude service, that ruined my parents first night out since March.

Beautiful atmosphere friendly staff amazing food what more is there to say. Got married here last October and its still one of our favourite places to be and eat and sometimes even stay always thoroughly enjoy my times there with the wife 5

I can recommend everything about the huntsman. I’ve stayed a few times now and never been disappointed with the bedrooms, restaurant and bar. To top it off the staff are so helpful and friendly too.

Just spent one night at The Huntsman Inn, loved it! The room and bathroom were very clean and well presented. All the staff we encountered were lovely and friendly. The food we ate was very good. We had lunch of sandwiches, which come with a side salad, slaw and fries. The evening meal was excellent, my husband says its the best steak and ale pie he's ever had! Plenty of choice for breakfast, table laid out with cereals, dried fruit, yogurt, breakfast pastries, fruit jiuces, fresh fruit, then a choice of cooked breakfast as well! If you leave this place hungry, then it's your fault not theirs! Look forward to going back again.

Absolutely beautiful meal in a stunning setting couldn't ask for better service. I would recommend the fillet steak you wouldn't be disappointed cooked beautifully melted in my mouth.

We have just had our wedding here and what can I say Melissa is brilliant everything went to plan and we had the best day ever I would definitely recommend the venue for anyone who wants to get married.

Great pub these days. JW Lees brewery with focus on their own brand. Food: lovely to see a different menu. Both of our lunches exceeded expectations. Could not fault the welcome from staff. Dog friendly btw. Great views. I think you can use a function room for weddings, I think you can stay the night too. Big open fire for winter.

Lovely people food very nice. Only one thing wrong I was sat near the kitchen door so every time the door opened it blew cold air so by the end of the meal I was freezing but apart from that I really enjoyed.

Found this to be an excellent venue for our meal. The food was excellent. Also the service was first class. Highly recommend a visit. Dont take my word for it try it for yourself.

Attended a friends wedding and stayed the night here. Absolutely lovely venue with superb views out of every window. The staff were superb and were there when required, and were inconspicuous to let the evening flow perfectly. Breakfast was tasty and a great selection.

Hi we had our wedding reception here a week ago and can honestly say it was amazing. Melissa and Harriet were fabulous throughout and on the day amazing they’d decorated the tables and room fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely lovely every guest commented and the waiter/waitresses great too. All staff throughout worked so hard and would just like to thank you all and that if your thinking of booking your wedding here do it ha ha xxxxx.

A while since I have been here… Very nice place. Staff are very welcoming. Service is 2nd to none. Not sure what the food is like normally but we were in A wedding party & it was very well presented with almost regimented precision. A credit to the staff. Well done. I would have no hesitation in coming again… recommended if you are in the area or a wedding venue.

Stopped 23rd to 24th June and cannot fault the place. Lovely hotel set in a beautiful location and would not hesitate to recommend. Food was excellent and the staff were brilliant. A special mention must go to Harriet who helped with the booking when my wife booked the wrong date :0) We will definitely be returning.

We attended a wedding and it was a great day/night they catered for my gluten free requirments without making me feel fussy like most places, we also had lunch which was fab to, highly recommend and we will be returning without a doubt.

Beautiful location, nice menu, good choice for starters and main course. Not to keen on the choices for dessert. Staff really go the extra mile, very helpful.

Modern but comfortable surroundings in a traditional-looking country pub. The sandwich I had was exceptional and the staff friendly, but unobtrusive. The main star, however, is the location — it's stunning. We'll definitely return to stay for a few days, as they even have EV charging for our car.

Last visit was for a wedding reception. Superb weather which is quite rare at this elevated location allowed us to relax in the garden. Recently refurbished inside this is one of the best quality hotel/pub venues in the area.

Had a lovely stay, room clean and comfy, food lovely. Only drawback was we paid for the Winter Warmer package that states on the website evening meal, wine, overnight stay and breakfast but never mentioned that this is not the full meal but a contribution towards the meal and wine — on checking out we then had over £30 to pay towards the cost. Similarly our confirmation email never mentioned it either.
We had actually asked the waitress if there was any limitation on what we ordered for the meal and were told no — but not told about the price limit. We had paid £140 for the room so it wasn’t one of the £80 bargain nights. Saw a newsletter in the bar that said about the limit but for the wine dine and duvet offer and ours was called Winter Warmer so even that wasn’t clear. Think the website needs to be updated to show exactly what is included.
Otherwise great stay altho would ask not to be in Room 11 as quite noisy from what sounded like the kitchen door opening and shutting beneath the room.

Excellent. My wife and I meet with friends at different pubs for dinner bed and breakfast around the north of England on a regular basis. This is the best so far and is now on our list for a return visit. Some complain the rooms are too small but they are well equipped and big enough. The location has some of the best views and is very remote. The ambiance was just right, busy enough without being overwhelming. The food was excellent quality and the staff superb.

There attention to detail and service is spot on. Food fantastic. Recommendation go try it you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Love this place… proper country pub with a roaring log fire. Newly renovated and looks amazing.

Nice makeover. Usually good food here but yesterday's was lacklustre at best — cheese sandwich had more butter than cheese and was smothered in pickle which meant the bit of grated cheese (confined to the middle of the sandwich) was completely lost. The accompanying skinny chips were dry and quite hard. This cost a pound less than Eric's superb hallumi burger at Pax in Lindley — know where I'll be going next time! Partner's pork belly was flaccid — not overly appetising!

We went here for the first time today for lunch before driving through the peaks, and I must say that this is now on my list of favourite places to be. The decor is spot on, the food is a delight and the staff are wonderfully attentive. Stuart and team, thank you for making my wife, my son and I feel so welcome and cared for. We will definitely be back for a stay at the inn and more blissful memories.

It was being refurbed so that is why only 4 stars. The food (steak & ale pie with chips and peas) was honestly the best I can remember. Both waiters were A1 also.

Went for a pub lunch whilst staying in Greenfields and the the huntsman inn came highly recommended. Great food and fantastic customer service, especially from our waiter Adam. Kids have a lot of space to run around and enjoy themselves; we had a 2 year old with us. The food is reasonably priced and delicious, with the steak and ale pie highly recommended. The inn will be completing some renovations in Jan 2018 so it will be great to see it revamped when we visit again.

We went with family on a very snowy boxing day for dinner. Food was lovely, presentation and taste. Noone was drinking in our party but there were plenty partaking. We will definitelygo again and book a room for the night. Was a lovely welcoming warm place.

Mid week lunch that could be so much more. Strange menu that doesn't really follow and type of food or tradition, — yes it may be said to be eclectic, but in truth its just a mish mash of all different food styles Soup flavoursome, Chunky bread, warm & chunky, butter, why bother if it's served direct from the freezer, — not just hard but totally solid. Meat & Potato Pie, — a grim square of dry solid pastry about 3inches square, rolled till any life or flavour stayed in the kitchen then cooked to oblivion. Meat was tasty but the new under cooked potatoes lurking like boulders where disappointing, Chips, par cooked pre frozen then flash reheated, hmmmmm not sure how you get those & frozen bullets — sorry peas wrong but bless the chef he managed. A poor choice of un enticing desserts meant we went without. The Huntsman is a nice setting (yes it needs some tlc), the staff where efficient (although the manager / duty manager walking round in badly fitting shorts, t' shirt & flipflops leaves you questioning his professionalism) welcoming but completely let down by the food.

We were there for a wedding and the venue was perfect for the space, food and service and drinks. We didn't stay but other members of my family did and they thought their rooms were good too. All in all a great choice.

Food was excellent, waitress service was unexpected and generally good but let down by some communication failures with the bar staff — drinks took a long time to arrive. Food: big fish and chips, nicely done; very deeply filled steak and ale pie; and a hake salad with anchovies and poached egg and a lot of salad. Definitely go again.

Went to a fund raising ball and had a 3 course meal. It was excellent.

Went here for a bar meal on 5th May and the service and staff couldn't be faulted. I have a small appetite and am a bit fussy! The waitress was delightful and couldn't help me enough. Excellent experience all round. Thankyou.

Food was spot on, service was great, lovely atmosphere, good value for money. Regularly visit the huntsman, great for big groups or dining as a couple. Can't fault this place, definitely a favourite spot surrounded by brilliant scenery :)

Just stopped for a quick drink with the wife after a walk in Langsett. Really nice place with a pleasant atmosphere and will definitely be back to try the food.

Great location. Room was nice. Very clean. Staff really pleasant and helpful. Bed was a little hard and could have done with a thinner pillow.

Although the atmosphere was nice and it wasn't too busy the food was something to be desired. For a reasonable expensive place it was under expectations. The steak pie although had a lot of meat seemed like it had been cut and left under a heat lamp for an hour completely drying it out. The steak was quite fatty and tough and the added bearnaise sause seems like it was just some melted butter with tarragon in. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend.

Really good food and drink. Well worth the journey. Lovely old stone pub. Nice gardens. Also a hotel.
