First visit but not our last, comfortable, well decorated, friendly helpful staff, set meal for two was great value and well prepared. They coped with food allergy easily. Well recommended.

We had our wedding at 1885 last weekend. It was amazing. Victoria was on hand to help out and answer any concerns we had throughout the whole planning process as well as on the day. The food was incredible and we had so many compliments from guests. The staff could not do enough for us. They were so attentive and helpful. I can not rate this lovely venue high enough. Thank you all so much for making our day so memorable.

We stayed here as a last minute getaway and it was fantastic, food was amazing and staff were great and friendly. The room was clean and bright and nice bed! I would recommend fans to be put in rooms for the hot weather as it did get unbearably warm. We will definitely be back.

Turned up at the place with not much expectation. What a little treasure. Room lovely, staff lovely. Would definitely recommend. Just about to try food but with steak and a bottle of wine £25 for 2 tonight can't go wrong.

Light and modern place. Tastefully decorated. Large car park with function room. It's a hotel too. The food is very nice. Great presentation. A variety of ales and lagers. Gets busy at meal times so try to book.

Great food. Good selection of ales. Fresh unstuffy environment. Really friendly staff. We always pop in when visiting my son. The welcome is genuine and not just for the locals.

We had a very nice light lunch. Great service and the atmosphere with the wood burner is just perfect on a cold winters day.

Booked for a family get together of three generations at 1885 Pub and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the presentation impeccable. Certainly a cut above pub grub. Would definitely recommend and we shall be returning soon!

1885 The Pub. Just had an amazing monk fish curry, I mean amazing. Fabulous flavours and generous portions.

Attended a wedding reception here and I truly enjoyed the experience. Incredible food, beautiful venue and awesome staff. Will definitely be visiting again!

Owned by two very skilled chef brothers this is a fine dining restaurant with adjoining pub which gives you multiple options and the best of both worlds. Also has very chic guest rooms highly rated on Tripadvisor Staff very friendly, well kept beers and wines and Sports TV discretely available at one end of the bar. Regular events such as 2 4 1 cocktails, quiz mondays and steak nights in the pub. The Restaurant does some themed nights and regular day trip catering events such as Golf Days and Clay Pigeon Shoots.

Met up with friends here and the food was very nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The place was child friendly and we were made to feel welcome which some places don't do.

Visited last night starter was lovely friendly service main course arrived which was steak £16.95 which didn't include chips it was just steak a mushroom a tomato and sauce and the steak didn't taste very nice so reported to a member of staff who offered something else but was a bit put off by then and she said she would get me a refund. Another member of staff then came who said I couldn't have a refund as the chef said it tasted fine and offered a dessert but nothing I liked. Manager refused a refund however didn't come and talk to me himself and was given a bottle of house wine which in no way compensated for a £16.95 steak that I couldn't eat and 2 other people I was with said it didn't taste right. We visit a couple of times a year and have been to this restaurant a few times but will think twice next time.

The Red Lion Pub was my home, I loved it. It broke my heart to leave there, I still love it to this day. I feel like I have a little hole in my heart from where it used to be and now, I cant walk past it or look at it the same way because of what it has become. The black sheep pub. Why. :' (. I lost it forever, a loved part of my heart gone just like that.
