Absolutely beautiful place to stay, staff really friendly and welcoming, rooms just gorgeous and 10 minutes walk into York. Breakfast was delicious definitely be coming back.

Fantastic hotel staff are always so nice x helpful, rooms are immaculate, food excellent we always stop at this hotel when visiting York.

We stayed in the Suite for one night and will definitely be returning next time we come to York to stay! Love the hotel aesthetic and the room was so luxurious with lots of nice little touches which made it feel like a real special occasion.

Typical French owned. Add ons on most foods items even if you are residents. Cant poach eggs, cook steaks to your liking, burnt toast and English cheeses!

Nice setting but the food is very poor. There are simply dozens of better options for eating out in York at comparable prices. Style over substance. The menu is fairly classic but the quality is just not there.

We had a terrible experience here with the service. Staff were completely inattentive and left us stood at the entrance even though we had a booking. Nobody greeted us. The bar staff did not know how to make a martini. We waited and waited for a wine list once seated but none came. My fathers port was absolutely full of sediment yet when we complained nothing was done about it. We wish we had gone elsewhere to celebrate my mums birthday…

We were sent here from another hotel, at the last minute. We stayed in the "krug" room. All in all, this hotel is excellent. The room was large, the bathroom clean and modern (with a great heated floor). The stand-out highlight was the breakfast. So many hotels have the same generic breakfast (identified by cereal out of a plastic hopper with a dispensing tap), yet here there were some really original pots of yog and fruits and nuts and other interesting bits and pieces. And the cooked items were fantastic. To top it off, it was good value. And the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Absolutely loved our stay for our anniversary, staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the hartenburg suite which was very luxurious with a roll top bath in the room. Breakfast was very good and varied with lots of attention to detail. Only tiny thing we noticed on arrival was the previous guests in that room had been cheeky with the mini bar and disguised a empty gin bottle in the fridge. It didn't bother us as we don't use the mini bar but something the cleaners should have maybe picked up on. Will definitely be back when visiting York.

Lovely Stay, very accommodating for me, my partner and doggy. The rooms were clean and its a prime location into town. I thought the evening meal let the hotel down by one star, It wasn't good food, wouldn't eat there again. Other than that the accommodation was lovely.

Love it here. Took an upgrade room which was amazing. 10 min walk into town. Fantastic evening meal with very friendly staff. Breakfasts… Everything you could want with lots of healthy options including their own berry compote and chia seed pots.

Ultimate gothic hotel experience. Furnishings, wall frames and halls are dark and creepy. Bedroom is bit cramped and amenities are old fashioned. If you believe in ghost, you may chance upon it here.

I used to love Hotel du Vin but my last two visits have been really disappointing. The sevice was so slow dispite it being quite while we were there and us telling the waiter we were short on time. The standard of the food leads me to believe that bulk chain hotel purchasing is in place. It feels like the accountants are dictating the way which is such a shame as it doesn't feel special any more.

Stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon in the Tomassi room and we loved it! The staff were so friendly and really made our stay special, the room was great and the breakfast was delicious. We've already decided we'll go back for our first anniversary.

We stayed last Friday for my birthday. We were put in a room that had just been done up so have no idea if all of them are like this one. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever had in any hotel anywhere in the world and we travel a lot. The pillows were glorious feather and the sheets were extremely good quality cotton. They gave us a free bottle of Champagne for my birthday. The staff and service was superb. The feel of the place was cosy with little areas to sit privately on lovely leather sofas. The furnishings are how I would like my own house to look. Parking was available which in York is a must! The only slight downside was the dinner. I would definitely stay again but I might eat elsewhere. Many thanks for such a terrific visit.

Arrived to meet family friends with my mother. Friends had booked a table already and we were served quickly whilst we sat, in one of the many seating areas. We ordered our food from there and were brought into the restaurant when the food was almost ready. Food was of high standard and service was quick. No problems with the place, nice atmosphere and would happily go there again.

Fantastic hotel. Amazing decor and our room with the freestanding bath was brilliant. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Could not fault the place.

We’ve stayed at a number of other Hotel du Vins, and this was our first stay at their York establishment. Hadn’t been back to York for some years, so this was an early January Christmas treat from my daughter. The good. Beautiful building (formerly an Orphanage) and less than fifteen minutes stroll into the heart of York. Excellent service and friendly staff. Room itself was up to the usual high standard. The bad. Parking was charged at £10 per night. As it’s clearly their own car park, find this hard to justify, especially as the wet conditions during our stay had rendered it muddy and full of standing water. Our room was in a separate annex, which meant dodging the rain for breakfast and dinner in the main building. This wasn’t mentioned. Felt more like an upmarket Travelodge. Call me picky, but I hate being served butter in a small round dish that has just come straight from the fridge. I can see no excuse for this, other than lack of planning.

We got engaged at Hotel Du Vin last year and came back for a night away without the children as my partner found a fantastic deal for after new year including dinner and breakfast as well as the room (After this stay we will probably be heading back for an anniversary night away as well). We were upgraded to stay in our original room and the service we received at dinner, breakfast and throughout our stay was fantastic again. Nicole and another young lady on the front desk were brilliant with my requests of specific shops to look for in York and happy to help. The kitchen manager also helped change a meal choice as an allergy meant I couldn't have something on the menu and he couldn't be sure that other elements of the meal wouldn't have traces. 2 fantastic experiences here in the last 9 months and look forward to the next visit.

Nice location for weekend workshops, there is space for up to 14 people in the main meeting room. The Hotel du Vin staff is very kind and welcoming. There is also a restaurant with good food. This location is within 15 minutes walking distance from York train station and also very close to the historic city center. The area is usually quiet.

Hotel du Vin and Bistro York is such a beautiful hotel. It's a 15 minute walk from the centre of York, which is ideal and only 10 minutes from the station! The room was immaculate and the dinner and breakfast we had were sublime and cooked quickly too. The staff were all very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Good place for a nice meal, menu is mainly french inspired dishes. Food was pretty good and excellent wine selection. Staff were attentive and price was reasonable.

Really good hotel very friendly staff. The only reason I would not give 5 stars. Very poor vegetarian breakfast one sausage one tomato and a couple of mushrooms is not a full English.

Stayed in one of the mezzanine rooms. Lovely hotel, room layout was excellent and loved the roll top bath. Restaurant was very nice. They put on a vegan menu for me. Only downside was the sound proofing to the outside could be better. Could hear the traffic and the large sir conditioning unit outside the window. May impact a light sleeper. Overall very nice though.

The hotel is roughly 10 minutes walk away from York city centre. There is a car parking facility at the rear of the hotel that is charged at £10 per day, per car. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, has a luxurious feel and it is clear to see that a lot of money has been spent to make the hotel presentable. We stayed in the Junior Suite on the top floor. The room was lovely, though a little "awkward" at times due to the sloping roof (it's basically in the attic) and me being 6ft 3inches. The decor and accessories in our suite were lovely. A stack of suitcases in one corner and a metal rooster stood in the other. The monsoon shower was amazing… I could have spent hours in there. The freestanding bath in the bedroom was excellent and filled up really quickly so no waiting about for it to run, although it did pose some similar issues as mentioned previously with the sloping roof. The king size bed was very comfortable. Surface space is a little limited as the desk provided is filled with room service items and a sound system. We also moved our tea making facilities onto the desk out of the wardrobe. Room service and mini bar items were very expensive so we opted not to use these services. There is a local supermarket roughly 3 minutes walk away from the hotel. The service whilst at the hotel was excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We ordered a takeaway during on of our nights stay and were provided with plates and cutlery by the hotel.

Great location, easy to walk to from the station. Room was great size and well equipped, however it was really dusty when we arrived and the bathroom smelt of an old washing rag. When we informed reception they gave us a free round of drinks and re cleaned the room. There was still some dust though. Breakfast was delicious, although service could have been quicker. All around very positive, just a few things that could have been better.

Stayed in a Supreme room. Very spacious and clean. Hotel is a 10 minute walk to centre of York so very handy. Parking available at rear of hotel for a charge. Nice bar area and outside seating. Highly recommended.

The hotel is nice. Overall our stay was good. We had a lovely room, but it was a double bed, which meant we didn't have a very comfortable nights sleep. Service was a little slow, in the evening ordering a coffee, and also during breakfast. Overall it was good, but it could have been better.

I am at this venue eery week for business networking with Network B2B. We've been well looked after by the same chap week on week and the food is always spot on for me. Great building and fab spot for meetings.

Restaurant is below average, food has no presentation or love, service is very average, nothing special. For what it costs you can get better food and experience elsewhere, walked away feeling a bit cheated, does not live up to its own hype.

I have regular business meetings here. Staff excellent and a beautiful hotel and perfect location too. The food is also first class. Definitely recomend this hotel and it's facilities.

Just enjoyed the Californian wine tasting at Hotel du Vin. Great night, super wines and fantastic food. We could not have been looked after any better. Has to be one to the best hotels/venues in York.

Stayed here the day after our wedding. Very impressive with good staff. Definately be back.
