So me and mam called by here over weekend, absolutely lovely food and staff, I felt bad leaving loads, please note nothing wrong with food I shouldn't have went for a starter as I fill so easy due to an eating disorder, ate a quarter of my fish and chips, they offered if I'd like to take away too so didn'tiss put, very grateful for that, will 100%be back again, no starters just the main next time haha, thankyou x.

Had a great few days there food was great very lovely staff defo coming back.

Nice easy straight forward check in and check out.
Rooms are really lovely and comfortable, the beds are amazing. Lots of space for storage and a great bathroom.
location was really good just a short walk down to Micklegate.
only down side to staying here was the 10am check out but we really enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

We enjoyed our 3 nite stay. Warm welcome from Heather, decent size rooms, and we enjoyed our cooked breakfast, if you asked for condiments or more tea /coffee it was no trouble at all. Lovely sized beer garden and staff member Sarah was lovely, we would certainly visit again.

Came in last night with a couple of friends and had the best time 😊… The garden has been renovated outside and is so pretty, the food was brilliant and the staff were really accommodating and brilliant fun! The new menu is amazing, I had Mushrooms, kofta, and the burger with blue cheese and guiness rarebit and was even given a tub of the rarebit to take home as I enjoyed it such! Would definitely recommend 🖤

Wow! What a way to cheer up a snowy working from home and home schooling day! We had a delicious chicken Caesar salad, the most delicious lasagne with homemade chips and amazing chicken and leek pie with roasted veg delivered today! Absolutely outstanding. A great service from ordering to the lovely lady that delivered it. I will definitely be ordering again. I can highly recommend if you've not tried it before. This local business is brilliant and definitely needs supporting! A HUGE thank you! We all loved it!

Sister ordered a takeaway for her birthday as restaurants are closed, expecting really good things after the reviews. And she got this! Appalled is not the word. Dry chicken not even seasoned with greasy cheese on top and a few measly chips!

Messaged the Facebook page after seeing the reviews for their parmo and garlic mayo. Amazing. Food was fresh and well cooked and its nice to have found somewhere that sells 'proper' garlic down this way. Thanks Again!

Lovely traditional pub, making amazing takeaway meals in lockdown! Sausage casserole with mash and veg for 4 adults, absolutely perfect made with lots of best local bangers) and just… £20!

Went today for Sunday lunch with my mum and boyfriend. We had the homemade scotch eggs to start and they were delicious, served warm with a runny egg in the middle with piccalilli. I could of eaten them again and again. My mum and I had the silverside beef roast dinner and WOW it was cooked to perfection! The beef was juicy, tender, served pink and melted in your mouth. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire were homemade and exactly how I like them. The veg and mash were also amazing! And the gravy made the food even more amazing, was homemade with bits of the meat in. Hands down the best Sunday dinner I have had and I’ve had a lot of nice ones. I am planning on going every Sunday now. Was perfect! My partner had the burger which looked amazing and he said was a 10 out of 10! I had the sticky toffee pudding, my mum has a lemon tart and partner had the chocolate torte and all of us really really enjoyed them. Everything was brilliant value for money and the staff member who was a young women was so kind and helpful. She helped me warm my baby food up for my daughter with no problems and kept asking us if everything was ok with our food. Thank you Bay Horse for our lovely food today and we will see you again soon for more of your delicious food.

Stayed for one night recently. Fabulous hosts, couldn’t do enough for you. Very welcoming and friendly. Lovely, cozy little pub, within walking distance from train station. Room very spacious and clean. Food gorgeous. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for 5 days in july for our minimoon it was lovely all the staff are so nice and heather is amazing such a friendly place will deffo be back next year for our anniversary xx.

Lovely hospitality with great charm. The rooms were well presented and lots of space. Hot English breakfast included in room price was totally amazing. Would have no problem recommending the Bay Horse Hotel.

Lovely friendly pub / b&b 5 mins walk from the station. Spent two great nights here over Easter. The owners made us feel really welcome. Nice breakfast too thank you we will be back.

When we arrived we were greeted by Heather the landlady, she was very friendly and welcoming. We checked in with no problems and were shown to our room. Our room was well decorated and clean with complimentary toiletries and tea & coffee making facilities. The room was very quite, the bed was comfortable we slept very well. For breakfast you have a choice of a continental or full English. There is also cereals, toast and fruit also available. We had the full English and it is well worth it! If we go back to York we will book in at The Bay Horse Thanks Heather!

Stayed here last year and loved it coming back on 9th march cant wait lovely land lady nice and friendly rooms are lovely & lovely full English breakfast defo recommend this place.

Always pay a visit to the bay horse when in York twice year. Away from the madding crowds good good beer. Devastated on last visit to see it closed. Ran into the barman in the park. Asked him what had happened, he said yes it's just closed given no notice. Rumour is it may well be a restraint.

My husband and I have stayed here a number of times. Great pub, brilliant staff and beautiful rooms. We satayed here just before we got married in 2016. Staff were so accommodating when daughter left surprise flowers and champagne the day before we arrived. Im now Mrs Reynolds and I will be back soon.

Really great pub food, good selection of real ales and good atmosphere, right by the river, great staff.

It's early March and I'm sitting outside by the river enjoying a glass of wine. Lovely family pup.

I would categorise the Bay Horse as a pub with accommodation. We only stayed one night as we were passing through York but the place was great. Nicely decorated in the public bar / eating area, food was great (the pics of the food are our actual meals… not taken from the website) and they have a selection of real ales. The rooms are just like the photos on the website… welcoming, clean, warm and still have their period features. Bed was comfy and got a great nights sleep. The pub is slightly outside the town proper, about a 10 minute walk, but has a great position on the river and close to a lovely public garden. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is that the pub doesn't have its own parking. The nearest car park is less than a minute away but charges £14 for a 24 hour stay.

The Bay horse has become the place to go in york. Particularly for Viking reanacters. Its there main socialising gatheting place when they all go to york in February for the jorvik festival. The pub has a nice modern layout. The beer is kept very well. The staff are smart and well mannerd. The food is great. Good old fashioned cooked to perfection like your nan used to do. Couldn't wish for me. Oh and you can stay here as well. Perfect.
