We were recommended to Howdale via another guest house we had found on a booking site.
I cannot express how glad I am that they did! We booked one of the sea view suites on the 3rd floor and wow what a room! Spotlessly clean with a superking sized bed, lovely big TV, built in wardrobe, dressing gowns mini fridge, kettle, selection of teas, coffee, hot choc, bottled water and biscuits.
The bathroom was spacious with a large shower and bath with complimentary toiletries and large towels. The views of the sea and castle are amazing! We spent ages just watching the surfers and walkers. Louisa and Kevin are so welcoming and friendly, you can see they take great pride in providing an excellent service. There is free parking on site or you can get a disc to park on the street. (not required if you have a disabled badge) You get free parking in disc zones. BUT DO DOUBLE CHECK Breakfast was fab, my hubby had a lovely cooked breakfast every day and as I have specific dietary requirements I had fresh melon, banana or prunes and a choice of yoghurts or cereal. Nothing is too much trouble and Louisa is chatty and loves to hear what guests have been up to and where they have visited and also has lots of suggestions and leaflets with ideas of places to go. We will definitely be back.

I've just come back from few days at the howdale hotel and the owners are friendly, the breakfasts where really nice and the rooms where cleaned brilliantly, we were made to feel very welcome. I will definitely visit this hotel again in the near future.

Had a lovely stay here and Louisa made us feel at home. She was very helpful. The rooms are so clean and everything thing need is there. The breakfasts are amazing with a wide choice of things available to u. Will be Definitely staying again.

We have come to Howdale for many years now and the service, cleanliness and food just gets better and better. Our room was spotless with an ensuite shower and toilet on the first floor. Our breakfast was delicious and you could have what you want which ranged from cereal, fruit, yoghurt and a cooked breakfast again however you want it. Howdale is in a wonderful position on the North side of Scarborough which is quieter than the South side. Louise is a wonderful lady who greets you with a smile when you arrive and serves the meal to you which is beautifully cooked by her husband Kevin who is an excellent cook. The rooms were cleaned daily and topped up with hot chocolate sachets tea and coffee and sugars too as there is a small kettle so you can make yourself a hot drink in your room. Your bed is freshly made too. All in all I give the Howdale 10/10 I recommend anyone to visit there if you want a clean friendly boarding house with great food and situated in the North side. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Louise and Kevin such nice people and thank you for the help you gave me and Andrew … you are amazing Louisa see you again in the future.

It was gone 7 in the evening & me and partner couldn’t find anywhere to stay! (Late minute choice to have a night off after a day out) A lovely man (Kevin) approached us and after running after us he offered us a lovely double bedroom! I can’t thank Louisa & Kevin enough for our first night from our babies The room was more than big enough & spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was there (the fan as it was super hot) … Louisa & Kevin we’re super lovely & welcoming and will be booking in advance next time, now we’ve found somewhere lovely Thankyou again xx.

Delightful w/e at Howdale guest house Up to see great show at open air arena. Would reccomend this lovely friendly place to anyone The rooms and staff and catering top notch. Lovely holiday in Scarborough, made even better by staying at this hotel. Great room very clean. Very good views, good breakfast, very quiet at night to. We would recommend this hotel to any one.

Louisa & Kevin's hospitality is second to none, the new Premium rooms are excellent, beautifully refurbished, spotlessly clean (always are) and the breakfast really does set you up for the day, delicious. Howdale is ideally located, within walking distance to many of Scarborough's attractions. Cannot recommend Howdale highly enough, wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Everywhere nice and clean, everyone was very pleasant the breakfast was delicious, would stay there again.

Just spent 3 nights at the Howdale. Last minute so we didn't get a sea view room but we were really happy anyway. Though the room was fairly small it was spotlessly clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Felt a genuine warm welcome from Louisa which continued throughout our stay. Breakfast was wonderful served in a lovely room with sea view, served by Louisa and her pleasant, helpful assistant with a friendly, no fuss approach, enough to say — we didn't need lunch! Parking was a little tight but managed by Louisa, no one got boxed in. Would recommend without hesitation, great location, home from home Many thanks.

Just returned from our 4nights at the Howdale. This time we stayed in one of Louisa's new premium rooms… they are fabulous… large sea view rooms, huge bed, ample hanging space, beautiful bathroom with underfloor heating and good sized shower… everything you could need… spotlessly clean. Great breakfast… fruit. Cereal. Juice. Etc… and a full English that you can alter to suit you… Lovely staff. Nothing's a problem. Will be back next year.

The Howdale made our holiday, Louisa, Kevin and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Rooms were just the right size and nice and clean, the breakfast's were great and we didn't need anything else to eat until about 3 o'clock, it was great cooking and service and while you are eating your breakfast you couldn't wish for a better sea view than you get from the dining room, all we can say is thank you very much Louisa, Kevin and staff.

Would definitely recommend this fantastic B&B. Louisa made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. The breakfast was lovely and there was a variety of choices to choose from. A wonderful view of the sea and close to the town centre, we will be going back again.

The service received from Louisa & staff would not be out of place in a hotel that charges 5X more for accommodation. The rooms are kept spotless & the breakfast choices are tailored to suit your taste. The 4 rooms recently renovated are tastefully decorated & furnished with the additional advantage of a panoramic view of the north bay, enhanced by the use of the provided binoculars. The only downside is that it is a 4 story hotel without a lift which could be a problem for anyone with mobility problems. I have no hesitation in recommending contacting the Howdale for a good holiday.

Had a lovely 3 night stay in a premier room with sea view at Howdale b & b. Room was spacious and tastefully decorated and a treat to come back to after a long day out and about — the binoculars were a nice touch. Breakfast was great and set us up for the day. Staff were very friendly, particularly Louisa who was also very helpful. Would certainly stay here again. Ken & Elaine.

We enjoyed our stay very clean and Louisa a good and helpful host and Kevin's breakfast kept us going all day. We will be going back.

Would never stay again did not feel wel come at all 2 doors down is a better hotel.

We always have a good stay at the Howdale, but made extra special on our most recent visit with the beautifuly refurbished sea view rooms. Excellent value and Louisa and Kevin are wonderful hosts. Will be booking again very soon.

Brilliant B&B. Louisa was the best host and her husband cooked a fantastic breakfast. The rooms are nice and cosy with everything you could ask for. Sorry it's a bit late in reviewing but thank you so much for you're lovely hospitality. Will definitely stay here again. Chris and all the family. Xx.
