Just has a lovely afternoon tea, staff very friendly.

Freezing room which they was aware had heating issues and it was snowing. Bar service and drinks disgusting, card machine not working, lift not working, nowhere to park and no food being served. And not a single reply to my complaint email. Never again.

Our wedding was held at the Old Swan in Harrogate this summer, it had been postponed twice already from Easter last year and Easter this year. The day was absolutely fantastic and the venue looked amazing, a lot of the guests commentated on what a pretty venue it was and how amazing the wedding room looked. The entire staff at the Swan made it such a memorable occasion however a special mention does need to go to Elisha, their wedding planner, who helped us through both postponements and has been there for support throughout the entire process which was such a great help. Her diligence, attention to detail and understanding made the planning of the re-arrangements as smooth as possible…. The whole management team at the Old Swan supported us throughout the planning and re-planning stages and it really was above and beyond what we expected. I cannot recommend this venue and staff enough and we will be back next year celebrate our 1 year anniversary.

Great place in all respects. Bit dated, but the history and atmosphere makes up. The staff are fantastic — friendly, welcoming and efficient.

£170 one night double room plus £10 to park your car on their premises! The room was typical of Blackpool for £50! It didn’t even have a bath we complained and was given another room this one has a bath, worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Disgrace!

Lovely place, clean and friendly and great service and lovely food. Love that it is a old historical building. I recommend it.

We visited for afternoon tea and I have to say that we were more than pleasantly surprised. The customer service was first class and the afternoon tea itself was delicious. It’s been 20 years since we last visited and I really hope it’s not 20 again before our next one. A lovely hotel.

Really nice hotel, staff brilliant and very attentive had a great evening meal in the restaurant where the young lady called Sarah was brilliant thanks so much for your first class service.

Stayed over Christmas and had a wonderful stay. We felt safe with social distances well maintained without making us feel uncomfortable. Food was wonderful and my food allergies were well catered for. Would definitely recommend and would definitely rebook if we decided to stay in Harrogate again.

A surprise night away given by our children for our birthdays. The room, upgraded on arrival, was lovely, warm and clean.

One night stay brilliant 3course evening dinner but was disappointed with the breakfast as every thing was luke warm some cold certainly needs some attention on how to keep food hot also hot plates would have been an improvement staff excellent though.

Bryan and I cannot recommend the Old Swan Hotel enough. We had our wedding day there and it was the perfect venue. The food was delicious and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Truly a perfect day. Elisha is an absolute diamond, very friendly, helpful and always responded to our questions. Added bonus the hotel offers fantastic photo opportunities such a beautiful building and I can’t wait to see our official photos.

We attended a charity ball and stayed overnight. The hotel has a great location but the food was appalling! The waiting staff came across as pretty inexperienced and some were downright rude. Breakfast wasn’t great either… kept running out of items so you either chose to wait for replenishments and your plated items went cold or you just had what was available. I was using the dreaded toasting machine and having waited in a queue… but the staff decided to start clearing items away… like the butter! Overall not a great Impression and would choose not to stay again. We paid£120 for 1 night b&b which was discounted from £156… defo would not pay that!

Traditional historic hotel that retains the finest service. The dining experience is always wonderful.

A wonderful place for an evening drink and some surprising ‘cheap’ shopping hiding in the glass cabinets.

We got married at the Old Swan Hotel in May and had an absolutely fantastic day thanks to the brilliant staff at the hotel. Everyone commented on how smooth the service at the hotel was, how beautiful the rooms looked and how fantastic the food was (both the sit down meal and the evening buffet). A special thank you goes to Elisha our wedding co-ordinator for helping create such a memorable day for us!

The Old Swan is a beautiful hotel with lots of character and lovely surroundings. My husband and I got married here last summer and it was the most perfect day from start to finish. The team at Old Swan did a fantastic job of making sure our weekend ran as smooth as possible.
It’s a very versatile and large space for a wedding which we struggled to find elsewhere.

Went to a wedding here on a Sunday afternoon. Had a nice atmosphere. With parking on site. Nice lawned area to sit in.

We were married last Saturday at the old swan and it was the best day that we could of wished for. The attention to detail from Nigel was perfect and Chris made the day itself smooth and easy. We have had nothing but compliments from our guests about the quality of the food, so a huge thank you to the catering staff. The waiting staff were so attentive, no one's glass was ever empty. A lot of our guests were able to check in early thanks to the great house keeping staff and receptionists.
But the biggest thank you to Emily the wedding coordinator, she made it all so easy and gave us the perfect day.

We had an amazing wedding at the old swan we couldn’t of asked for any thing better. It was perfect thank you to Emily and Chris and all the other staff involved from start to finsh. We can’t wait to get our photos back to help us relive our wedding day. The hotel and gardens are just stunning perfect for a summer wedding if you are gifted the weather as we were. We was lucky enough to able to have our ceremony in the pavilion which made it extra special to us. The food choices that we choose was brilliant everyone really enjoyed the food both the wedding breakfast and evening food. When we was planning the wedding at the old swan the packages are really flexible to cater to you and your needs never felt like we couldn’t ask questions and go through things again if you wasn’t sure on something. I stayed in one of the bridal suites the night before and the night of the wedding and for me this started the whole weekend off it was so lovely and really good to get ready in the morning as there is so manys rooms in the suits to do hair and make up in and never felt cramped or on top on each other. Also the staff set up the whole of the garden room for the wedding breakfast and the reception perfectly so we had nothing to do on morning which is a massive help. I could go on for ever and praise everything we really couldn’t fault anything and would highly recommend this venue and can’t wait to stay here again.

Excellent. This is the third time that I have been and once again it hasn't disappointed. Lovely room with views out towards the town.

We visited the hotel on the 4th August for a 2 night break. On our arrival the hotel looked nice and the staff really friendly and things was explained to us like where our room was and where breakfast and evening meal was. We did notice that there was a wedding on which was fine and it looked very nice. However at the end of our 1st day me and my wife decided to go back to our room and relax and catch up on some sleep, bad move. Our room was above the entrance to the hotel and all we could here was people talking, smoking, getting drunk. As the evening went on it got louder and louder. At approximately 12 50am it was so loud I had to ring reception and ask them to either ask people to go inside or keep the noise down. Just after 2am it was quiet still had no sleep at this point On the morning we went down for breakfast and both me and my wife said it was the worst breakfast we had ever had, how the hell your supposed to get beans on your plate from a spoon what's got holes in it is beyond me. It looked like a carvery what children had helped themselves to there was bean juice everywhere, no bacon, no hash browns the sausages were as cheap as a holiday at the bottom of a pond. We decided to speak to the manager of the hotel and demanded a full refund and we checked out early and came home after just 1 night. Was it the best decision we made YES it was. Would I go back no we would not.

Afternoon tea was rather mixed. Comfortble seats and service was fine. Very good sandwiches and (single) scone with cream and small mousse like dessert. Cakes, however were a big disappointment — just a couple of very small filled pasty cases — nothing resembling real cake. Wasn't too hungry and was using up a voucher so didn't complain, however if you're taking the family for a treat at almost £20 per head, best to check that you will get the full works.

I have always wanted to stay here because of the Agatha Christie connection & it was wonderful to stay in her actual bedroom! This is an atmospheric hotel with some lovely period features, like the revolving doors, the long winding staircase & the high ornate plaster ceiling of the restaurant, with beautiful wall lights. The Garden Room which was where the film 'Agatha' was filmed is beautiful too. We were here for a murder mystery night, which was good fun & it would be lovely to do it again.

Best bathroom in Harrogate. Shower is wonderful and they mix the hot and cold water in the same trap! Also parking is great.

As usual it was faultless the £99 deal with high tea a lovely evening meal in the grand dining room. A superior room which admittedly we were lucky to get and then a lovely breakfast buffet including full English continental or a bit of everything. The weather was kind to us and Harrogate is a great place
The Hotel is central with free parking which is always a bonus these days. It is therefore good for those with disabilities. The Hotel is run in a semi formal way with staff very attentive but still you feel very comfortable and at home
I would recommend this hotel to anyone it still has the Agatha Christie feel and at £99 for a double room with afternoon cream tea, dinner and breakfast what is your reason for not visiting?

Very central to wander around and enjoy Harrogate. Staff helpful and friendly. Great if your into Agatha Christie.

Large Victorian hotel in centre of Harrogate. Nice bar, lovely bedrooms. Meals served in large dining room which lacked warmth and friendliness.

Lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Good food. Rooms quite noisy as no sound proofing.

Beautiful old hotel with character features. Clean and tidy only let down by bedrooms looking dated but thry are clean and comfortable hence why I only gave 4 stars. Staff are excellent and food is lovely. We even got free bottle of wine when there was a slight delay with getting starters. Had a really lovely time and will definitely stay again.

Kept up all night and I mean all night due to staff walking past the room that seemed every few minutes, we must have been on a route to a store room or something like that. The evening meal was really good and the breakfast was also very acceptable. Some large cobwebs hanging down in the cocktail bar needs dusting.

Amazing place with bags of history and fantastic staff. Some parts of the hotel are showing their age but this adds to the charm.

My wife and her friend stayed on Sunday March 25th and really enjoyed their stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful in particular Sean who served afternnon tea and then in the bar in the evening. My wife Lindsey and her Friend Sharon Millar who booked the hotel would like to say a big thank you for such lovely service. They would highly recommend this hotel although the lounge could have been a little warmer.

We stayed at the old swan Harrogate mid February, mid week for two nights, it was Fab, room was clean and spacious, breakfast plentiful, evening meal good choice and very nicely presented, staff were polite and courteous and a hotel is just a few minutes walk into the town, we would definitely visit the old swan again. Lovely quaint building, warm comfortable rooms, dinner was nice, but my latte tasted more like filter coffee with a splash of milk. All staff friendly and helpful.

Not even worthy of one star! 'Double' bed? More like a large single… And the lift out of order! With no offer of assistance with luggage up to the second floor… And you know it's second class when you arrive back from a night out and there's a group of people smoking outside the entrance! I mean, at least move away from the doorway, as I personally don't want to have to walk through other peoples stinking aftermath… never, ever would I rebook this shambles of a hotel!

Our stay at the Old Swan Hotel proved to be a successful one. Pre booked via a Telegraph promotion which was 230 quid, B. B + E. M. For 2, and for two nights… we felt it was a bit too good to be true… but… faded grandeur as a hotel… could do with upgrading… but… standards were high in the menus and food quality, the cocktail bar was well laid out and intimate, rooms were spacious and clean. So, no complaints at all. Possibly even inch to a 4*. Would definitively go back… especially as Harrogate is a wonderful town to spend time in.

Great location, and good to be able to book a single room. Plumbing needs sorting out, the bath didn't drain properly so was paddling by the end of my shower. Beware of being put in a noisy room when they have a function on.

We stopped by for a birthday champagne cream tea but the whole experience was definitely lacklustre. The furniture is tired and sagging, the atmosphere was bordering on depressed and unfortunately both the sandwiches and cake assortment tasted stale and bland. Two bright spots were our fantastic male server and also the strawberries with chocolate dip. A shame because the rest of the hotel looked stunning. I'd probably rent a room, but eat elsewhere.

Excellent Hotel staff are attentive without being overbearing. Thoroughly recommend the restaurant the food is very good and excellent value. Rooms are very corporate but serviced to a high standard. Just a ten minute walk from all the shops and eateries that Harrogate has to offer.

Amazing place! Although only stopped for one night. The room was amazing, a spacious double room and very clean. The staff were friendly and provided an excellent service. Noise proof, you couldn't hear any other customers so sure to get a good night's sleep. Only, one thing that bothered me, the lighting and the mirrors. Now as a Women we need good lighting mirrors in the right place and all is well!

This is a lovely old hotel, right in the middle of Harrogate set in grounds which are very well maintained. The hotel has loads of character, the staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is very good. I stayed half board and the evening dinners were really good. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Harrogate.

I have now enjoyed two short holidays of three nights at The Old Swan and can heartily recommend it as a base for holidays in Harrogate and the surrounding area. The food is a particular strength with breakfasts and dinner beautifully cooked using quality ingredients. The lounge-bar is a stylish and comfortable space in which to relax with a sizable terrace adjoining it for fine weather. The gardens are extremely attractive and well tended with a large lawn to the front of the hotel affording an attractive outlook towards the town centre. The only downside is that a number of rooms lack a good view but the other virtues outweigh this aspect.

I visited the hotel as an evening guest at my friends wedding. The location is great and I found some free street parking about 1 minutes walk away. The grounds of the Old Swan are gorgeous and the walk up the driveway is grand indeed. Inside where the evening do was there is a huge hall with lots of room to fit guests.

Stayed here for one night. The building is very grand. My room was a good size almost as big as a suite. High celings and a big comfy bed. The food served was of a very high standard. The bar was well stocked with two friendly guys. Parking is available in the hotel grounds, which were immaculately kept.

Lovely welcome on arrival, room was on 3rd floor with amazing views, very spacious room. After a long journey was nice to sit outside and enjoy afternoon tea for 4 with staff that were very attentive. Walked around the beautiful town then returned for our evening meal which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Morning breakfast was very busy but staff we're on the ball. We will Definitely recommend this hotel.

Most rooms in the hotel are small, however we stayed in a big room. there was a james bond themed party on the night we stayed which was very good. the food was great and we had a TV that, unlike most hotels, actually worked and had lots of channels.

I wished to treat my wife to a night in a nice hotel in Harrogate for her birthday and was recommended the Old Swan by a friend. Overall it was a very nice establishment and looked the part, providing quality food, pleasant staff and nice surroundings. However, I was a bit let down that upon arriving at our room we discovered that not only was our bed made up of 2 single beds pushed together but they were on castors and moved around at the slightest prompt! I've never experienced such a thing, certainly in such a high class hotel, and would have expected a double bed considering the price I was paying. I would have brought it up had we been staying more than the one night.

Stay here sometimes during the week. Hotel very good. Very spacious. Have attended a few New years eve dinner dances here. Car parking excellent. Ideally located for town shopping. Breakfasts good. Agatha Christy stayed here for a while, so the hotel is reasonably famous.

Attended a Murder Mystery night at the Old Swan and had a brilliant stay. Staff couldn't be more helpful; hotel and rooms stunning. This was also third time at the hotel and won't be the last.

I've been to a number of events here — on every occasion the bar staff have increased the price of a round of drinks throughout the evening, even ordering the same drinks every time. Keep an eye on what you are charged. The bar manager argued that the rounds were different even though I had the receipts to prove otherwise. I complained to the hotel manager and got my money back in the end.

Hi, we have just returned from The Old Swan, Harrogate where we held our daughter, s wedding. The location was wonderful; the staff could not have been more accommodating. The whole weekend was magical. Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our special occasion so memorable.

This hotel is lovely — set in quiet surroundings, yet a 5 minute walk to the town centre. We had a feature room, that had a lounge, dining room and bedroom, all of which were comfy, warm and very clean. The staff were very helpful, and the service couldn't be faulted. We had dinner at the hotel, which was good (but not out of this world. ) so I would probably eat out when we stay again — which we definatey will be doing.
