Just come back from a 2 night stay at the boars head for our 3 peaks challenge. Rooms were of good size and comfortable beds. Food was of good quality and good portion sizes. All the staff were friendly and I can't fault none of them. Special mention to the breakfast lady this morning, you was fantastic and a credit to the pub.

Got our first takeaway of the year — fish and chips from the boars head tonight — really impressed, generous portion and mushy peas! Can’t wait to get them again! Definitely recommend! Thank you.

A group of 13 of us stayed here for the weekend to complete the 3 peaks, the staff were fantastic and very accommodating! They looked after us by leaving breakfast out for us on Saturday morning so that we could eat before our early start, provided everybody with a packed lunch and they also cooked for us at nearly 10pm when we arrived back!

We were looking for somewhere for a bite to eat whilst on our way to Inglebrough cave and decided to give the Board Head a try. Ok so the interior decor may look a little tired but the staff were friendly and the food we ordered was absolutely fantastic. My wife had a beef salad and with the amount on the plate surely there’s an allotment somewhere that’s been stripped bare lol. I had the fish and chips and struggled so much I began asking for help from other customers as they arrived haha. My little lad had sausage and mash and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Would we call here again? Absolutely.

Lovely pub and great food. The steak and ale pie was beautiful and so tasty. Mrs Dowson's locally made dairy ice cream was amazing! Great real ales too.

Very friendly staff and great breakfast. The room was adequate. Clean and comfortable beds. A lot of history but needs a face-lift especially the bathroom.

Very friendly local pub and b&b. We stayed for one night. Nice location too. But food is average and biggest issue for me is that internet signal is very weak upstairs in the bedrooms.

Overall I would recommend the Boars Head as a place to go to eat. It's got plenty of variety on the menu plus several specials to choose from. We were a large group (12 people), all of the food came out together, hot and tasty. Well presented and generous portions. Very friendly, professional staff. Not quite "haute cuisine", but an enjoyable evening with good food. Recommend.

Excellent place to stay. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Had a good tea last night and a good breakfast this morning to start the day. Nice clean rooms and comfy bed. Would stay again if in the area.

This was our 3rd meal at the Boars Head and it was lovely they didn’t have what I wanted on the menu but had lots of choice, however the Chef came out and after a quick chin wag within 10 minuites of ordering our fantastic meals were on the table, my husband had the roast ham dinner and the Chef made me a chicken dish cooked in cream, mushrooms, tarragon and Pernod and all the lovely veg and potatoe trimmings, I am gutted I didn’t take a photo because the presentation was lovely but I was that hungry I ate it before I remembered about a photo for the review. After a couple of minutes the Chef came out to check that the dish was ok and I told it was amazing so thank you very much for you excellent service, we dined alfresco because we had our cocker spaniels with us and she also did them a lovely juicy sausage each, all in all fantastic food, fantastic service, we are really looking forward to going again we’ll done the Boars Head.

I stayed here last Saturday evening for an overnight stay to meet with friends in Settle. I booked on the Friday and got a really good deal. When I arrived I wanted to take a taxi almost immediately to meet with my friends, but was told that unless they are pre-booked there is not much chance of getting one. So one of the bar staff drove me 3 milestone to meet with my friends without charge. I returned just before midnight & enjoyed the residents bar, and mingled with the local residents, and stayed up chatting to some lovely people including the very friendly landlord. The rooms were very comfortable with everything I needed, and the breakfast the next morning was really nice, and the lady who served me was so accommodating. So it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and I would definitely return.

A nice pub, great no nonsense hearty food. Very friendly and welcoming staff, can thoroughly recommend.
